I sat in the shade. My eyes shifted over to Celestia and Luna sitting on thrones looking at the pony sat with their head in the guillotine. An execution awaiting to happen, this saddened me. Reason of Execution: Vampirism. My last ally in survival of our race is about to be killed. I was in a dangerous spot, if I get spotted by a vampire hunter, my game is over, I cant save my friend over there, he is done, we would both be killed. He wants me to continue our race and survive, but it will be hard to teach many ponies the ways of a vampire, once we were a great race living in the shadows of Equestria but now reduced to me.
"Larten Pie, you have association in Vampirism and have been seen as a dnger to Equestria, your fate is execution." Celestia said that in a harsh tone with no signs of sympathy or kindness. This was something that she obviously felt strongly about and has an opinion in the matter that vampires are a threat to everypony, well I can say that they are not but nopony knows what vampires really do.
"This is a monster act Celestia, killing us because of stories and myths, we do not intend to harm, we all thought you were kin but we were all denied that, we lived in the shadows in peace with everypony else, nopony knew but vampire hunters believed the tales and hunted us down, found we were real and you took action, this is wrong! There is one left and he will not accept forgiveness for this! You've killed thousands of us yet we only killed one of you in an act of defense." Larten shouted this out for everyponies ears.
No words were said. Then there was a slice and a crunch as Larten's head came clean off and a stake went through his body to confirm the kill. Luna caught my eye after that act. She had a look of guilt on her face, like she thought it was wrong. Blood started to cover the wooden panels and everypony started to leave, the princesses teleported away most likely to the castle to continue to rule the land. Ponies were talking about who might that last pony be, I ignored it and got back to the everfree to stay in the shadows, normally I would sleep right now but I needed to move away from where Larten was found so I came along to see his final moments and see what had to be said.
I made it back to the edge of the forest but I kept looking back because I felt like I was being followed. When I entered the forest I took a sharp turn suddenly into a dark area, I could see anypony on the path from where I hid, a yellow pegasus walked by looking around and speaking to herself "Where did he go? I swear I saw a pony walk in here on his own, does he know its dangerous out here?" the yellow pegasus said with concern. I saw no threat, I knew the voice was a pegasus named Fluttershy, she was an element bearer for kindness, the magic of friendship. I trotted out of my bush and replied to her questions "Yes, I know it is dangerous but I live out here, I know what to do and what not to do." She turned around looking frightened of my sudden appearence but I was expecting that.
"Where did you come from?" said the worried pegasus
"From a bush, I know this forest so well i could probably navigate it with my eyes closed." I simply replied trying to reassure her.
"Well I just don't want you to get hurt that is all,"
"Well thank you for the concern but I am going to be fine, you should go, since I don't want anypony getting hurt on my behalf,"
"Well it is getting late so I should go home and feed my animals,"
"Hey you have animals, how many?"
"Too many to count when most ponies enter the room,"
"Would you mind if I came inside, I could help out, having lots of animals is a real hassel,"
"Well, an extra hoof could come in handy,"
The conversation ended and we trotted off to her cottage...
This is my life. I have always been in the shadows of Equestria, not because I am anti social, if I leave this forest, and I get found... I will be killed and that will finish the family. It's not really a family but more like a clan, a clan where everyone would hang around and treat each other like a family. I am the last of this clan. If I die, then the clan is gone, it is not just a clan, we were a race that had over 1000 members but slowly we have been killed off. I am the last of our kind, if I die then our kind will be no more, we will all be in paradise as long as we had lived a good life. Equestria is not kind to our kind, it hunted us down and killed us, they know that one of us lives, but their question is who is it and where is it. I will not give up, I have lived a good life and I am not willing to lose it. Our kind does not reproduce like any other pony.
