Idea 1
Around the Time when Shining is going into basic / post high school graduation. The story is about A human who he and Cadence have been friends with since the 10th grade. Dave ( that's what I'll call him in the description) he is not the toughest of the strongest, but he is extremely intelligent in both magical arts ( Alchemy, Runes, Enchantment, and he knows some combat magic), non-magical ( Chemistry, Math in general, Physics, and anatomy). He is around 20 after graduation. It's a month after graduation and a he gets kidnapped by a Changling. This changling is a rouge( he abandoned his hive) and was hired by a noble to have him taken out of the Noble class ( Dave is part of the Silver House). The reason for him being wanted gone by the Nobel is entirely up to you, it could be because he's an Xenophobe,a pony supremacist, or something Dave is researching. The Changling after kidnapping Dave parades around as Dave commits acts of murder, arson, and the Murder of Night Light (Shining's dad for those who for some reason don't know). The changling after doing all of this lets Dave free he goes running back to tell them what happend but instead of being met with open arms like be expected, he is met with swords be malice. He then runs through out the city with the guard, Shining, and Celestia are chasing him. They corner him on the outside of the city on the precipice of a cliff. Dave tries to tell them what happened again. His words fall on deaf ears. Overcome by  grief and rage at the atrocities "he" committed Celestia passes judgement on Dave right there. All the unicorns there (Celstia and Shining included) all fire at once knocking him off the cliff and into the river below. He survives the fall and is found in unconscious and bleeding out by a group of mercenaries. Who take him in and save his life. Meanwhile in Canterlot they capture the rouge changling when he is caught changing disguises. In ensuring escape attempt he is fatally injured and tells them as he is dying that he was "Dave" when he committed the crimes. They all take this as well as you imagine
. For the next 5 years Dave becomes a deadly and talented warrior of steel and magic. He learns a lot of banned magics ( it can be dark or mind or even both. You can decide whatever magic it is). They all meet again around the gala when Dave is hired by the Griffin king as a personal guard for his daughter.
