The Convention

Master Chief had returned to his assignment happily after he left the Emergency Room. He was then assigned to protect Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship. She was to give a speech about a plan to stop Mewtwo's newly formulated plan to take Canterlot, the Equestrian capital.

All of this meant Master Chief got to follow Twilight around all the time, looking like a stalker. Right now, Twilight was in her palace library preparing her speech on a theoretical weakness of Mewtwo's. She was mercilessely droning on about how once Mewtwo was caught, experiments needed to be conducted on his magical capabilities.

"... and surely Mewtwo can't resist the Elements of Harmony, I mean, no pony can, right?"

"Uh-huh" was all Chief could say.

"Are you sleepy" Twilight asked, "I can't see your face, but I bet your eyes are barely open."

"I'm just bored, that's all" Chief replied.

"Bored, by fighting evil?"

"You don't know what iv'e seen" Chief retorted, "way worse than this."

"Really" Twilight asked.

"In short, I stopped an entire species from going extinct and the galaxy being destroyed. This, is nothing, just a wanted criminal."

"Tell me more about your adventures!" Twilight exclaimed.

"You have to give your speech in an hour, so you should study your speech as best as you can, then teleport us there."

"Let's go now."

"Alright."

Instantaneously, they were transported to Canterlot Castle, where many had gathered for the New Annual Defense Convention. Posters were hanging everywhere advertising different plans. Overall, everything was cluttered.

"Two minutes to show time" an orange stallion told Twilight, "better get ready."
"Of course" Twilight said. She began to practice her speech one last time before the Convention.
Chief thought about how much he had done, but at the same time how much he hadn't.

"Are you ready" Nightmare asked. "I think so" Mewtwo replied. He had already donned his battle armor and obtained his energy sword. They planned to breach Canterlot castle with an army of nine thousand troops and easily take the throne, which would be given to Mewtwo and his bride, Nightmare Moon.

Their ship was halfway to the castle when a foreign transmission came in.
"This is the Mothership Battery, you are to surrender, or else face being extinguished" the mechanical voice said.
Mewtwo stood up and unsheathed his sword. He was going to fight.

Twilight had already begun to present her theories on how to stop the Dark Council. As any speech would be, it was boring as hell. Even though Master Chief got to hang out behind the curtain, he still felt like a pedo or something.

Then the roars came. The sound of engines. The walls came crashing in like a rhino pushed them down.
What emerged surprised everyone, even Chief.

It wasn't what everyone wanted, but it was something.

They glimmered like polished metal. Which they were. Large, mechanical ponies with weapons mounted on their sides, already searching for Twilight. Chief completely ignored typical policies and stood next to Twilight.

"What's going on" Twilight asked, obviously confused. "Were attacking a deep voice said.
Mewtwo.
