//-------------------------------------------------------// Spike's depression -by spike239- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Alone //-------------------------------------------------------// Alone At the spring dance, Twilight sits down sad and alone, knowing her lifelong companion will never return. Fluttershy walks over to Twilight concerned about what is going on. "Twilight? Are you ok?" "Spike is never coming back..." "What do you mean?" "He ran away..." "Oh my gosh! This is terrible! He could be in horrible condition!" "I can't find him anywhere on the map. Nor can I figure out what kind of friendship problem is happening. Now there is no hope in me getting some of my work done without him." "It seems rough when you mention whoever is going through a tough time." "He said that because Rarity is not interested in him." "Does Rarity have a new coltfriend?" "From the looks of what I can see, I believe she has met her special somepony." "That must've left a mental scar inside of Spike." "I won't be expecting him to return soon." "Who else can be your assistant?" "I was thinking of Starlight Glimmer since she is my pupil." "She looks like a nice assistant." "I'm not sure if Spike is ever coming back." Twilight turns her head down in grief, accepting what is done. Noticing something strange, Princess Celestia walks over to Twilight, concerned about her feelings. "Twilight? Is something going over your mind?" "Spike left me for good..." "Oh dear me! Why would he abandon you so hard?" "He felt bent out of shape when he saw Rarity with another stallion." "Was it my nephew Blueblood?" "I'm afraid the truth is hard to accept whenever you are clouded with grief." "I don't know if Spike can handle it. He may not make it." "It's too late to convince him to return. First he comes with large anger, next thing you know he leaves without ever saying goodbye." "I hope it's ok. The world is cruel out there. He could get hurt." "If I know him well, he may have a life on his own." "I don't think he should run away from home. We need a search party." "I guess we have no other choice." Meanwhile in Manehattan, Spike keeps walking until he see's a bar. He decides maybe it would be a good idea to go in and have a little brawl to let out some of the anger. Inside the bar he see's somepony playing poker while others are playing a game of pool. He decides to wait in a corner before a fight starts. Minutes later somepony barges in mad and starts talking dirty to a light blue stallion with a really short curly mane, brown eyes, and a six sided star cutie mark . "What in the hay is going on between you and my wife?!" "None of your business mule! Get lost!" "How about ya tell me what you done to her!" "I didn't do anything wrong, we were just hanging out having fun while you went out on a business trip!" "Oh yeah, I bet you did something stupid to her!" "Maybe I did!" "I see how it is! Maybe you need a break from women!" "Bringing up that dirt from the ground eh!" "Ever since you broke up with that one pony, you just had to hit on my wife!" "I'm trying to have fun!" "What I think you're doing is trying to steal my wife!" A hoof hits him and a fight breaks out. The mad one then grabs a bottle of finished liquor and smashes it on his opponents face. The bartender walks through the door before another hoof goes back. "Hey! Break it up and just stop this stupidity!" "Not until he apologizes and stays away from my girl." "Are you saying that cause your jealous?!" "That's it!" The hoof fight goes harder until he grabs a mug and accidentally hits the bartender in the face. "Hey! Keep your dad gum hooves off my brother!" Another stallion lunges in before a huge fight breaks out. Spike grabs a cue stick from the stand and calls out to a stallion wearing a leather jacket. "Hey you!" He turns around to be wacked on the head and gets mad stomping on the ground. "Listen up kid! This ain't a place for you! Get out or I'm gonna spank ya hard red!" Spike grabs a paper towel and opens a bottle up while placing a small portion of it in. "Woah man! Don't you even dare light it up!" Spike reads the label saying "Fireball" and another part saying "Do not mix with flames". "So if I put it on fire, it will go into flames?" "Please don't do it! Here, take my money and go." Spike picks up a bag of bits and goes out the doors feeling relieved from his stress. Walking on the streets of Manehattan, he finds someplace to eat food for now. In the restaurant he see's everypony enjoying a fancy meal and starts to feel uneasy at first. Waiter comes in asking Spike what to start off with and he responds with "Just water, no ice". Looking at the menu, he finds a good entrée for 10 bits. The waiter comes back with a tall glass of water and Spike orders a bowl of clam chowder with a salad. After dinner he leaves some money behind and goes to an alley where he can call it a night. He goes dumpster diving to find an old cloak and something to make it look like somepony else. The Next morning, he grabs a donut for breakfast and heads back to his alley for extended periods of time until lunch and dinner. Days pass on as he continues the cycle over and over. Until he felt like he was getting low, he went back in the bar another night to find somepony all sober and feeling like garbage. Slowly walking over to the counter while being eyed by some tough stallions, the drunk lays his head down not caring whatever is going on as long as he stays there until it was closing time. Spike climbs on the chair and quietly sits when the drunk notices company. "Feeling down bud?" "Yeah" Spike said with his best tone of voice. "Same here. My lady keeps telling me to quit playing some poker with my friends. It's not like I am losing the money I make for every dad gum game. Heck I even dominate them with no mercy." "Wish I didn't feel the way, I felt rejected for somepony more bigger and more handsome." "The one I got is beautiful and seems like my dream come true until the next year your together, things go downhill and you just get into pointless arguments and wish you made better decisions." "Never going back home, I'm done putting up with this mess I got into." "Lucky for you. I'm stuck married to somepony who doesn't care about what I want to do and instead forces me to go shopping and eat at those places that serve nasty food." "I guess you can't file for divorce." "Nope. Costs too much money and makes me want to just live in this dumpster of life." "Got nowhere else to live except the alley I found while looking for a place to crash." "I guess I should take ya with me since there's no other place." Spike decides to accept what comes next as he walks to the drunks home on the second floor of his apartment. //-------------------------------------------------------// Ridance //-------------------------------------------------------// Ridance The door slowly creaks open with a small light shining from the inside. "I don't think she's still happy. That doesn't mean you can't sleep on the couch tonight. Just lay there and don't make a sound." Still whispering as quietly as possible, he almost knocks down a vase before Spike jumps out of his disguise catching it before seeing the look on his face. "Spi.." He grabs his mouth shut and shushes quietly. "I know this sounds crazy, but we can't make any deal about me." The stallion nods in agreement and Spike slowly lets go. "What I said back there is true. I do not want you telling anypony about this. I am still not happy with the situation between me and Rarity." "Ok" Spike climbs onto the couch whispering goodnight and falls asleep. The next morning a mare whips up some breakfast and brews a cup of coffee before she starts reading her local newspaper. Spike sleeps while the Stallion is dealing with a headache as he tries to regain his balance from the night he had too much. "Again?" "Come on lady, I just need a little break from your mouth." "Ugh! I hate it when you do this crazy thing!" "All I'm saying is that you should tone down your anger more and ditch the bossy act." "I don't have time to put up with your dumb behavior and try to patch up your mistakes." "Since when?" "What about the time you got sick and threw up all over the host?" "That food was undercooked and my stomach couldn't handle the feeling." "What about when you broke someponies collection?" "I tripped on accident." The two continue on as Spike moans waking up from his slumber. While regaining full consciousness, he see's a mare with long blonde hair, light yellow skin, brown eyes, and a paintbrush making a small curved stroke on her flank. The couple doesn't notice Spike as he walks to the fridge to grab something to eat for breakfast and snatches the newspaper from the table. Minutes pass until the mare notices her newspaper is not on the table. "Wait a second! Where's the paper?" "What paper?" "The paper that was on this table!" "I don't know what you're talking about." "Don't play dumb with me. You know where it's at." "No I don't!" She gets irritated and uses her horn to lift up some items to look for the newspaper before lifting the couch. Spike falls right off when he is tipped over by a moving couch before letting out a small scream. Hearing a sudden voice, she stomps to the couch to find someone who does not belong in the home. "Why is there a dragon in the house?" "I can explain." "I want him out! Now!" "But he's homeless." "I don't care! Get rid of this unwelcome guest and don't let him back in." "He's Spike the Dragon." She comes to her senses recognizing the purple scales, green pupils, green spikes, spade shaped tail, and bipedal form. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry for what I said." Spike lowers his eyebrows staring at the mare who said all those mean things. "I'm leaving." "Wait don't go. I'll give you anything." "How about a few gemstones?" "Anything for an amazing dragon like you." She hands over a bunch of gems to Spike and he walks out the door with his sack of things saying "Goodbye everypony". Meanwhile in The Everfree forest, Fluttershy cares for her animals while thinking about when Spike will ever return. Discord, resting on the couch, snores as the animals in her cottage roam around, while Angel grows impatient waiting on his meal to be served. The rabbit could not wait any longer, so he jumps onto Discord and hops around on his gut until the draconiquis finally wakes up stretching. "What is it Angel?" He tries talking, but all that would come out of his mouth were squeaks and high pitched noises. Growing tired of this utter nonsense (in his perspective) he goes back to sleep and ignores the hungry rabbit. Fluttershy comes in seeing a hungry rabbit, begging for food. "Poor thing. You must be hungry." She grabs some carrots and gives a generous portion to eat." After devouring the whole bowl he tells Fluttershy that Discord could not understand a word he said. "Sorry to hear that. Discord can't talk to animals like I can." Angel rambles on until Fluttershy decides to wake up Discord. "Discord darling." Fluttershy called softly. He wakes up slowly seeing his friend looking a little down. "What now? Are the rabbits multiplying too fast? Or is it the mice?" "It's just that, Spike has not been around since he left." "Really? This is quite a predicament since I have not played Ogres and Oubliettes since the last week." "Now are you getting the picture?" "This looks like a detectives job for solving a mystery that is rather odd." Discord snaps his fingers, thus putting on a trench coat and a detectives cap in an instant. Outside the door, he holds his magnifying glass looking around the cot. "Discord?" "Strange, I'm not picking up on any kind of evidence." "Perhaps maybe you need to try a different approach." "Splendid idea." He knocks on the castle doors waiting patiently until it creaks open. "Oh Discord! I did not expect you to be here. Anything I can help you with?" Asked Twilight. "A cup of tea will do." "Alright I'll brew some. Please find a comfortable spot." Twilight walks into her dining room where Discord was waiting patiently. "So... What brings you here?" "When was the last time you saw him?" "Who?" "Spike." "I'm sorry to say he's been gone for a while. I don't know when he'll ever return." "Let me rephrase this. By what time was he last here?" "It started when he wanted to take Rarity out to the spring dance." "Interesting. Was she by any chance with another stallion?" "Yes. I know it seems crazy since she was not pleased with how he treated her on their first date." "Alright. Care to explain how she managed to get back with him?" "They met at a coffee shop where she ran into him coincidentally and she happened to reconnect with him since they were away for a long time." "How does this affect Spike?" "He brought roses and wore a nice tux that I thought was great, but when he saw what was going on with her now, he shut down and left me all alone without telling me where he was going." "I believe I have enough words from a witness to help me crack the case." "But you do not have any way of knowing where he went." "If I know him enough, he has a craving for gems, correct?" "I guess he may have left some lying around on his journey." "Or maybe he had something else left behind." "You could ask Rarity about one of the things that happened." Discord knocks on Rarity's door to find that the place is still a mess. "Erm is this the wrong time for visits?" "No no no, not at all. Please come in." Discord looks at how bad it still is to this day and sits on a chair. "So darling what brings you here? I'm sure I could probably sew together something decent." "About Spike." "That's a rather touchy subject for me." "How did he react to your 'acquaintance' in particular?" "Oh my gosh it was awful. I can't believe he would do such thing." "Did he happen to leave anything behind?" "He did leave me these burnt flowers." "And where are they?" "I threw them in the trash but I have not completely rid of them." Discord rummaged inside to find what was said about was true. "This isn't enough to help me find him." "Well somepony has told me that he went to the woods." Discord disappears in a second and lands in the forest where he see's a stallion lying there sleeping. He taps him on the head before being surprised by a sudden awakening. "What.. Who.. Huh..." "Did you happen to encounter a dragon by any chance?" "Yeah. I saw him go that way." "Thank you for your cooperation." Upon leaving the forest he finds a large city full of many mares and stallions trotting around until he spots the odd one out. Discord grabs Spike by his tail into an alleyway where nopony would expect. "Discord?!" "There you are." "What are you doing here? Get lost!" "I'm am not leaving you behind. You have been gone long enough, now it's time to head home." "You're not the boss of me!" "Well I'm not leaving without you." "Fine if you can't go without me we'll stay right here." "Fair enough. Lets see who can last long enough without comfort." "I accept your challenge." Spike sits down with his arms crossed, while Discord pulls out a book and a pair of glasses designed for reading. Many hours pass until he closes his book to see Spike still sitting there in the same position as he was before. "Seems you have the courage to remain there without moving." "Felt like this for days." "Feeling better." "Nope, not one bit." "I've heard the others are rather worried, don't you think?" "They can laugh all they want. All I am is just a useless dragon." "Now hold on a minute, you're not just a dragon." "Prove it!" "Alright, all aboard The Discord Express, next stop, Alternate Reality." //-------------------------------------------------------// Ignorance //-------------------------------------------------------// Ignorance A town is all quiet when Spike and Discord arrive at the reality where Spike never existed. "Where are we now?" "A world where you don't exist." "Really, nothing here changed." "Not yet." A rainboom goes off out of nowhere and then Spike notices what point in time they're in. "That's when The Mane Six got their cutie marks." "Oh yes, but one had a rather different fate." He see's Twilight corned in terror, looking at what terrible mess she made. "Oh no. I made a terrible mistake. Please give me a second chance." "No Twilight! You had one simple task and you failed to show responsibility in your magic!" "But mister, I did not know what would happen." "Apparently this is a result of poor teaching from your parents!" "Please don't make me have to suffer." "You will transferred to a regular school where fillies like you will not be using your magic for such horrible acts." "I oughta show him not to mess with Twilight!" Spike said disgruntled. "I wouldn't try if I were you." Spike tries to pick up a rock but instead it passes through his hand. "What?! Why can't I pick this up? TWILIGHT!!!!!!" "Nopony can see or hear you." "What about Twilight? She doesn't deserve this." "She gets what she asked for and that is a suspension for destroying you completely." "Wait?! I was in that egg?" "Now you're gone forever." "I guess this means goodbye." Spike said sighing with grief. "Nonsense, tis but a mere illusion." "This is all fake?" "Oh no, this is a real reality alright." "So I'm not going away because I was never in this world to begin with." "It's all there black and white, clear as crystal." "What's the point? Twilight can get better right?" "Wrong. This is where the show really begins." Discord snaps his fingers showing a sky dark as it could ever be. "What happened?" "Since Twilight never learned to control her magic, she never traveled to Ponyville. And if she never went there, the elements of harmony would've never ceased to stop Nightmare Moon." "What about Celestia? Maybe she has enough power to stop her." "Not with raw power alone." "Maybe the Crystal Empire is still there." "Nope" Discords fingers go off yet again to where a place full of darkness is set. "But, I thought this would be stopped by Cadence!" "Very sad to see those poor, terrible ponies, suffering from what fate has handed over to them." "How come there is no light left?" "It's all gone. Even me could never come forth since my magic could never trump over the great and powerful...." "Trixie?!" "No! Tirek." "The magic consuming monster?" "Indeed." "What a catastrophe." "There's more." The human world without Spike shows up with The Dazzlings laughing with pride." "Oh no!" "Without you, Twilight would've never entered into this world, Sunset would've started a great war that could tear up lots of things." "How come the Dazzlings are in charge?" "They keep feeding off of dark emotions which allow them to rule over without worry." "Oh yeah, forgot about that." "Now you see why you matter?" "I guess I do now. Who would've thought that I had a large purpose?" "I don't know. But right now, everypony is worried sick about you and you still have not returned home." "Still don't want to come home to Rarity." Spike said sarcastically. "This is complete stupidity! All you are thinking of is Rarity with that stallion by whom you consider your worst enemy by all means!" "At least somepony is better than me." "Did he save The Crystal Empire?" "No. I did!" "Isn't that enough appreciation for one?" "Since when do you think I'm not meant for her?" "Do you know she's an adult?" "What's that got to do with me and her?" "You're a child!" "So?!" "Isn't it obvious? She does not feel anything romantic since she is older than you and you are just lost within your own thoughts." "Is it a crime to date someone older than me?" "Actually, it's a crime for her." "What?!" "If you look closely, the laws clearly state that young adults at the age of 18 may not date someone who is a minor of any sort." "I didn't realize that. Wow! I guess I'm the bad guy now." Tears begin to crawl down, knowing he was wrong about love itself. "Come on now, lets head back home." "Why should I head home if the love of my life is forever going to be too old for me?" Discord sighs with a snap of his fingers wrapping a chain around Spikes body with a lock in place. Spike breathes fire on the cold hard chains with no response. "Just to make sure you are never escaping, these chains are fireproof." Spike breathes even more fire while Discord yawns in boredom. Seconds later, Spike runs out of breath and summits to surrender. "Come along now, we must get going. The clock is moving and we must go." "As you wish." //-------------------------------------------------------// Truth //-------------------------------------------------------// Truth Twilight looks at the horizon, waiting hopefully for her friends return. After 10 minutes of waiting, she gives up for another day. A puff of magic comes out of nowhere before Twilight jumped. "Spike?" The helpless dragon couldn't move one bit. He was well chained before being dropped on the ground. Discord removes the chains with a snap of his fingers, while Spike sits there with his head turning away from Twilight. "Spike, I was so worried about you." "Why? Didn't anypony else care?" "Rarity felt terrible about you leaving." "How's her 'coltfriend'." "They're still together." "Ohhhhh I'm so jealous!" Spike said sarcastically "Don't beat yourself up." "Whatever! I'm done with love!" Spike stomps to his room where he slams his door and lays on his bed with his arms crossed. A few minutes later, a knock on the door came about. "Go away Twilight! I'm not in the mood!" Starlight walks through with a concerned look on her face. "Spike? Why do you feel like this? "Cause I've had enough of this garbage and wish I could be left alone for good!" "Why are you getting so aggravated over one pony?" "Ever since I met her, I felt like she was my special somepony who would be my darling." "It's not always going to be great for you. You need to learn to let things go." "Easy for you to say. I wish I could be older." "Don't think about changing who you are just for one pony. It's better off to be yourself no matter who is with you. There is a lot of ponies out there who accept just you. I promise that soon you will find her." Spike sighs with grief. "Who would want to marry a dragon?" "I don't know. Maybe somepony might see the true beauty deep within." "Whats the point? All I am is an outcast with nopony interested in me." "Can't you try a little?" Spike turns over before Starlight decides to give him time to think. During the night, he begins to wonder if he would then find his special somepony. Later that morning he grabs a few donuts along with some hot cocoa. Spike sits at a table with his head laying on it while eating one with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. Pinkie Pie startles Spike with a tap on his shoulder. "Woah! Can't you give me a little space?" "C'mon Spike, cheer up. Turn that frown upside down." "No thanks Pinkie. I'm not in the mood." Pinkie starts to look a little concerned until she notices a jelly filled donut. "Oh my gosh jelly!" She snatches it with a quick swipe before Spike reacts with anger. "Hey! Don't you have any manners?! At least you could've asked and maybe I would've let you have it!" "Sorry. I was a little too excited." "Find somepony else to bother." Pinkie walks back inside the sugarcube corner before coming back out with another donut. "Here Spike. I like to make up for the mistake." Spike eyes the donut with one eyebrow raised. "What is this?" "It's a creamy filling donut." "Thanks Pinkie." Spike grabs the donut and eats it without expression. "How is it?" "Fine I guess...." "Spike, I'm worried. What's gotten into you?" "Ever since I saw Rarity with another stallion she hated before, I felt betrayed." "Betrayed?" "I thought we'd be together for as long as we live." "Spike. You can't always get your way. Sometimes I have to control what I can and can't do, even though it's hard." "Like what?" "I remember when I gave up my confetti cannon for my sister Maud. Even though I had it given back afterward, I still felt bad for putting myself in that situation." "Seems harsh." "The point is, no matter what goes, you can't always have your way. Maybe a celebrity can, but you're just a dragon who is like us all." "Thats not really true, I am famous in the crystal empire. A statue was made after me." "Oh right... I forgot about that. Too focused on parties and cakes." "I guess I should see Rarity and tell her that we are no more." "You can still be friends." "I don't know if she will change the way she feels." Spike finishes his cocoa and donuts before heading to Rarity's Boutique. He nervously knocks on her door before it creaks open. "Hello?" "Spike? You're back!" Sweetie Belle was relieved and runs over to hug Spike. "Hey! I was here to see Rarity." "Oh! She's a bit busy at the moment." "I need to talk to her." Spike walks in slowly with a little tremble down his spine. As he enters through Rarity's door, he see's her focused on work itself. "Rarity?" The white mare turns around with a little disappointed expression. "I see you decided to return hmmm?" "Look, I'm sorry about what I did back there. I let my emotions get the best of me." "And you also were a bit rough on Blueblood." "I know. But sometimes when you are struck with strong emotions, you can't help it that easy." "As much I understand your feelings, I'm still not going to be your special somepony." "I'm over that." "What?! How can you be so sure?" "After seeing what monster I've become and how reckless I was, I decided that you don't belong to me." "Oh my. I didn't think you'd go this far." "Well now you know why I came. I'm done loving on you. You belong to Blueblood." Rarity felt a little sorrow from such strong words and looks at Spike before he turns around. "By the way, don't call me 'Spikey Wikey' anymore!" //-------------------------------------------------------// You are special //-------------------------------------------------------// You are special Spike gave Rarity a strong word. There was no turning back for him since he felt a little better now that his relationship with Rarity was all, but different. Spike crawls onto his bed going back to sleep. An hour passes before he was disturbed by a knock on his door. "What now Twilight?" "Spike. I heard you were a little rough on Rarity." "She deserves a better friend." "You didn't have to go this far." "At least I'm less attached." Twilight Sparkle, heartfelt with emotions hugs Spike very tightly, with little tears. "Promise me that you'll never run away ever again." "I guess I'll be better off here. I mean, I sort of felt a little better since I ran off." "What's out could be dangerous. You could've got hurt." Spike looks back at Twilight with a small tear running down his right cheek. Starlight notices something was still up and about. "Spike? Are you still upset about the whole ordeal?" "Not really. I'm done with Rarity." "That's kind of hard on her. Don't you think?" "Why should I even think she deserves me. All I am is just a dragon." "You're not just a dragon, you are a special dragon that holds a great spot in my heart." Said Twilight. Spike lays back down with his head resting on a pillow. "Spike. I know how hard it is to go through a tough time like this. I have felt the same way and well I still look back at some of them to remind me that no matter how rough things are, you keep going on til the end." Spike sighs before Twilight and Starlight walk out to let Spike rest. The next day, Spike wakes up and prepares some crepes for himself while making Twilight some fruit salad. Starlight walks in to see him working hard to prepare the most important meal of the day. "Spike?" Asked Starlight. "I'm very busy." "Somepony here wants to see you." "Tell them I'm in the middle of something." "I guess they can wait." "I'll be out in a few minutes." Starlight heads for the doorway leading in and waits patiently for the dragon to come. Spike places Twilights meal on the table before eating his breakfast in a minute. "Spike?" Called out a familiar voice. He turns around to see Prince Blueblood with a bit concerned look. "Why are you here?" "I know we've gotten off the wrong hoof. So I want us to amend fences." "You can have Rarity all you want! She's not mine! No Sir!" "I guess your still not over it yet." "After running away from home, I still don't want her." "You don't need to love each other, you can still be friends." "Not today! I've had enough and I refuse to let this happen to me again!" Spike crosses his arms in disappointment and turns his back on them. "Maybe he needs to be left alone for about a week." Said Starlight. "I don't want him to feel this way forever. I see great things in him. He did something incredible that I could not." "He does have some pride when it comes to his accomplishments." "Well I should get going. I do not wish to get hurt more." Blueblood walks out of the room, knowing he is not welcome as a guest to a dragon. During the day, Spike is at the local comic book store reading "Spider Stallion: Issue #55" . The door jingles to a white filly with a purple and pink mane. "Spike?" He looks up to see it's Sweetie Belle. "Oh it's you." Spike goes back to his comic book, not caring about who's there. "Hey. Can you put it down for a second?" "I'm taking my time. Read something else." "Spike, listen to me." Spike sighs and puts the comic down. "What is it?" "I know we've been a bit awkward for months now." "What do you mean?" "What I'm trying to say is.... I.... love you." Spikes eyes widen a bit in shock. "Really? After What I did to Rarity and all that?" "No matter what happened, I forgive you for your troubles and ask that we bury the hatchet." "I guess the word is out now." "Not really. I haven't told anypony else but my closest friends." "How much do I mean to you?" "A lot. You hold a special place in my heart. I don't want anypony else but you." "Let me think about it." "Alright. Well.... Promise me you will not tell anypony else." Spike was beginning to question himself whether or not he is that attractive to anyone out there. Shrugging it off, Spike goes back where he left. The next week after Sweetie Belles Confession, Spike is doing his daily chores in the castle. In the kitchen, he scrubs every plate, cup, fork, knife, spoon, and tool. A sudden knock on the door causes Spike to jump, thus accidentally tossing a plate in the air. With every bit of energy he had, he jumps onto the floor to save the plate from shattering. "Phew! That was a close one." "Can I come in? You seem pretty busy at the moment." "Well. I guess I have a few left." "Let me help." "I...I...I got this." Spike was feeling rather unusual since he didn't care to be around Rarity one bit, but her sister was another different story. After Spike was done with the dishes, he sits down somewhere quiet where they can talk. "What brings you here?" "I know we've gotten off the wrong hoof." "Sometimes I wish I could get a better grip on my emotions, but whenever I am confronted with something extreme, I can't help it that easy. Not everypony has what it takes to pull through that quick." "I wish I could be better." "Tell me about it. I can't be prepared for anything that comes my way. The only thing I can always be prepared for is me to expect the least of things to happen and try to make the best with whats there." Sweetie Belle comes closer to Spike and hugs him with her deepest of warmth. The ice that lived in his heart for days finally thawed out, thanks to somepony who was good enough to cure his depression. And with that, a large weight was lifted off him and they become small lovers. Rarity on the other hand was not visited as much since Spike has been paying more attention to Sweetie Belle more than her, but she accepts the fact that she doesn't need him to feel happy since she has plenty of other friends. //-------------------------------------------------------// Rejection //-------------------------------------------------------// Rejection Spike never thought this day would come, the day he would use to earn the love of his life. It wasn't hearts and hooves day, no it was the spring dance that was coming the next day. He worked very hard on looking as good as he could ever be. He wore a fancy bowtie, a nice tuxedo, and a top hat, even brought flowers. Once he got to Rarity's house he knocks on the door and waits patiently. Sweetie Belle answers and opens the door slowly. "Spike? What brings you here?" "Where's Rarity?" "She's in her fashion room." "Ok." Spike goes past the door to see Rarity has somepony else there. "Oh Blueblood... How could I ever treat you like this... Who am I to blame?" Quoted Rarity "Rarity. I know we came to a rough start, but now we start out fresh." "There are some amazing things you must try. Some of which are quite fancy." "I never thought apples could be filled with such nutritional value." Rarity moves closer to Blueblood making Spike drop the flowers. She turns her head noticing Spike standing there with some tears starting to come. "Why are you doing this?" Said Spike. "Spike. What are you even talking about?" "I thought you and Blueblood were never coming together again!" "I still like you Spike." "How can I ever believe you after seeing you with somepony else that ruined your special night." "There may have been some bumps, but it's better to forgive." "Well you can forget about me!" "Spike, please settle down. This is not something to be mad about." "Yeah it is!" "I know you are a great friend, but you know we can't be together. Right?" Spike breathes fire onto the flowers he picked and tears apart some of her works in progress making Rarity upset. Filled with large amounts of anger, he slams the door so hard, her cat goes crazy and creates an even bigger mess. Spike stomps on the ground on his way back causing a little riot when somepony tries to talk to him. In a response of anger he roars with a mean look scaring off many. Twilight's cutie mark begins to glow and she hurries to the map where she see's Ponyville and gets close to the main doors before Spike opens one of them. "Spike?" "What Twilight?" "What is going on? Is anypony having issues with each other?" "Nope, everything is fine!" Spike said sarcastically. "Wait! Please tell me what's going on." "Nothing! Leave me alone!" Shocked by the attitude given directly, she begins to worry about his mental status. "Spike, why are you upset?" "Cause Rarity prefers somepony more "fancy"." "She would never leave you behind." "Oh yeah! Where's your date?" "I do not have one." "I thought you love that one stallion who was so cool!" "Please settle down. This is going too far." "How come nopony wants to go on a date with you, even though you're the princess of friendship?!" Shocked by such words, a few tears roll down her eyes. "Why are you saying this?" Starlight walks in with a confused look on her face. "What's going on here?" "I don't know what's really gotten into Spike, but he might be reaching a point in life where frequent mood swings are more common." Spike decides to pack his stuff and walks out of the castle never turning back to even give somepony a second chance. On the streets of Ponyville, Blueblood see's him and Spike stops. "Why did you turn her against me?!" Asked Spike. "You have done that yourself!" "You are nothing but a traitor! You stole her from me!" "Your anger and lust for her have already turned you into a merciless being! You have allowed yourself to fall upon your own desires. Until now you did something very wrong and I will not let it slide!" "Don't lecture me bloody murderer! I see the lies you were full of! I have brought peace to everypony in the Crystal Empire! All you brought upon her is sorrow!" "She is not your special somepony. She and I are meant to be." "Then if your not with me, then you're my enemy!" Spike jumps onto Blueblood and begins punching him with his fists leaving a few bruises on his face. Blueblood picks him up with his magic and moves him away before he could throw more on him. Before Spike could attack once more, Rarity jumps in between before she is scratched a bit by his claws leaving a mark. Shocked by his actions, he runs off to his old home, the treehouse, burned down from a battle of the past. In his state of anger, he see's Rarity and Blueblood together while he lays in the shadows of despair with tears coming down as they were together. Soon he has a vison of them having a family and enjoying a luxury life of happiness. Realizing the damage he done, he runs to the woods where nopony else could find him, no more friends, no Celestia, and even no gems to eat. All he had for himself was a blanket, a pillow, some snacks, and his walking stick. Wandering lonely in the forest, he see's a rabbit come by, but refuses to interact with it. Never wanting to turn back, he see's somepony in the distance sleeping with his hat over his eyes. He had dirty brown hair, a torn up jacket, and a long beard, plus somewhat rotten teeth. Spike tries to avoid making contact until a eagle screeching startles the stallion. "Huh, what! Who goes there?!" Spike falls down in fear seeing the reaction to a normal sound. The wanderer looks down to see somebody unique came by. "What in the hay are you doing here?" "Well I ran away." "Ran away? Why in the world would you do that?" "I was rejected." "Nah phooey. I dealt with worst things." "Probably not as bad as me." "Oh it was bad. First I sent to 10 years prison for a crime I didn't commit, then I found a way out through a tunnel that somepony else dig through without getting noticed. Once I escaped prison, I found a rotting corpse that had some clothes I could wear to hide well, but I never wanted anypony to see my face for as long as I live. Now I live in the woods with nothin to eat except fruits and vegetables, and I can't have any perfect water except by the waterfall, so all I have now is a poor life." "Well I should get going." "No way kid, you can't be out here in the wilderness without shelter, there's dangerous creatures ready to attack at any moment." "I can survive. I'm a dragon." "Dragon or not, you won't make it far if you go further." "Why should I worry?" Spike scoffed. He walks further down the trail where he finds a cave all empty and devoid of life. For the night he writes in his journal. Day 1: Life could never be the same. First somepony triggers Rarity one night, next thing you know, It all comes crashing down when that one stallion returns for love. Running away was the only thing I could do to rid of this pain, but I question myself if it was the right choice... Nah, I don't need advice, I can live on my own.
