Time and again
The lost get sick of chapter names
Previous Chapter-sniff-
"Oh come on Luna don't cry it's not THAT sad..." David sat in his chair awkwardly watching as Luna tried to regain control of her emotions. Celestia wasn't faring much better. She was not crying, but having been separated from family as well, she too was struck deep withing her heart with sorrow at the story of young David. She knew no one so young should have to experience such a catastrophe.
"I'm s-sorry David.. -sniff- That was childish of me, excuse me." as she got up to leave the table David stopped her.
"It's really alright Luna, it's kinda nice to have someone cry for you every once and a while. But there are no more needs for tears, so dry your eyes. I didn't mean to upset you two."
As David looked to comfort Luna, Celestia looked into David's eyes. A deep sadness of someone who had seen too much for their age had nestled itself within the depths of his eyes. He comforted Luna and helped her back to her seat before retreating to his own. At this moment, Chris decided to make his appearance known.
"Wow, David. You never told me your whole story. That's pretty serious man. Sorry, for y'know, what happened to you." He stumbled over his words trying to find the best way to comfort David.
"Nah, it's alright. I've had time to think over what happened and I think it may have been for the best. Had that not happened I would have never met the people I did, made the friends I have, and helped those in need. So upon reflection, I'm almost glad for that big old beast for what he did."
This seemed to lighten the mood in the room, and soon they were engaging in breakfast yet again. The rest of the meal was quite uninteresting, and I will spare you the bore of hearing all the details.
~Later~
David sat on the balustrade of the garden patio playing a few tunes on his guitar to a servant, when Luna happened upon him. She sat there watching him in curiosity at the music he was producing. Soon, he finished what she assumed to be cheery song.
"It's wonderful." David turned and smiled at the sight of Luna, when the servant jumped up and snapped to attention.
"Excuse me, Your Highness." He said with a bow. "Please excuse me." He stated, backing somewhat awkwardly off the patio.
"No, please. Join us. I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I. What is your name, my little pony?"
"S-silver Candlestick, Y-your highness." The servant seemed much more nervous than the typical servant would usually, but he was probably a new recruit so she dismissed it as first time nervousness. She refocused her attention to David, who just sat there smiling the whole time.
"That was a beautiful song you were playing, David. Do you know of any others?" At this, David just smiled and nodded, beginning a new song.
Song- I Will Wait - Mumford & Sons
He started it off with furious strumming and then settled into a more paced strum. At this moment his smile grew a little bit wider, and he began to sing:
And I came home
Like a stone
And I fell heavy into your arms
These days of darkness
Which we've known
Will blow away with this new sun
Presently, the old gardener pulled a banjo out of who knows where and began to play along with him.
And I'll kneel down
Wait for now
And I'll kneel down
Know my ground
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
At this, Silver began to join in with the entourage. Somewhere within the gardens, a grey pony with a black mane heard the mysterious racket coming from the direction of the inner walls, and decided to investigate.
So break my step
And relent
You forgave and I won't forget
Know what we've seen
And him with less
Now in some way
Shake the excess
By this time, even Luna had joined in the festivities. When the pony, who's name was given to be Octavia, rounded the corner. The sight of a gardener, a servant, one of the princesses, and an ALIEN sharing the joys of music was not a common sight to be found. She sat there dumbstruck, yet also mesmerized by the music.
But I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
So I'll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
That tethered mind free from the lies
Octavia found the most peculiar sensation welling up within her. Between the hauntingly beautiful sound of the Princess, the servant, and the alien's voices harmonizing, she felt the need to join in. So join in she did! Her cello seemed to appear out of nowhere, as things are wont to in Equestria, and she joined in with gusto.
But I'll kneel down
Wait for now
I'll kneel down
Know my ground
As they played the instrumental, a smile found its way to everyony's (and body's) face.
Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow
Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
At the end of their song, the gardener placed his hat upon his head, tipped it to the Princess and Octavia, and headed towards another part of the garden. Octavia still had a smile lingering on her face when the reality of the situation hit her. First, she was in the presence of the Princess. Secondly, she was in the presence of an alien. This meant two things, One: She may be punished for her uncouth behavior of mistreating the Princess and miss the opportunity to perform that night. She was told she had free reign of the gardens, but no one told her that the Princess would be having a musical session with an alien.
Which coincidentally brought her to her second point. Two: She was in the presence of an alien. This meant that aliens were real, which strangely didn't bother her as much as she though it might, what with all the crazy happenings lately. All of this to take in suddenly sent her into a slight state of shock; her pupils dilated, and her forelegs began to quiver.
"Oh! Hello... Octavia, was it? Did you enjoy the performance?"
She began to finally come to her senses. Going over her etiquette checklist in her head, she was about to begin executing them when she was interrupted by the alien we all know as David.
"You don't need to go through all that fancy stuff, it's okay. Luna, I assume, would rather you not as well."
Her brain stopped short at this, and she begun to inspect the alien closer.
"No, i-it can't be!" She said, a mixture of fright, recognition, and confusion swirling about her eyes.
"What's the matter, Ms. Philharmonica?" Octavia planted her rear upon the ground, mouth agape. It was a few seconds before she could gather her wits about her to reply.
"I-I.... I know you!"
