2 Months Before Mane 5
"It has been three months since I started to work on this inter dimensional portal, oh do I hope that this will be successful" Twilight mumbled to herself in the empty throne room thinking of the endless possibilities that they could do with this portal. She thought of all the good stuff and tended to back away from the bad stuff. Her deep train of thought was derailed when she heard the throne room door click open
"Uh, Twilight, your mumbling to yourself again" Spike reminded Twilight peeking his head out of the giant door to meet his gaze with her gaze "When and why are you making that portal again?" Spike asked scratching his head in a cliche way curiously
"For the millionth time Spike, Im making this portal to connect to other worlds to advance us as a species" Twilight explained using her hooves to help her along the way "And when Ill be done I estimate that it will be five days from now" Twilight answered with an eee at the end
"What if this portal dosen`t work or it just brings villains?" Spike asked generally curious thinking of what might come out of the portal
"Let`s not look the dark side, if that is the case then we do have the elements to protect us, and if all fails we still have the power of friendship" Twilight finished putting her hoof up in the air at the end
"I guess your right, Twilight" Spike agreed simply walking in the room completely walking over to the small throne beside Twilight. Once he got seated down next to Twilight he observed the blue prints "What are you working on right now?"
"Im working on the frame of the portal, this part is really starting to frustrate me, I just cant get the frame just right for the portal size" Twilight said putting her hooves up to her head in frustration
"Maybe I could help you Twilight?" Spike asked instantly regretting it seeing at how he knew next to nothing about this stuff. Twilight's face lit up when she heard the question
"Of course, Spike!" Twilight replied with glee putting her hooves down
"But I'll only help with what I can" Spike added shortly. Twilight wasn't phased at all and stayed as happy as she was before

1 Month Before Mane 5
Twilight stood alone in the middle of an empty, big, echoey room. The room that she was in was in was the testing room. Behind her was a protective one way door with two giant 'indestructible' glass panes at the side of it. Behind the glass panes were scientists, observers, and Celestia
Twilight looked at the portal frame for a solid minute before she gathered up enough courage to start a spell that would create the interdimensional portal. After several failures of portal designs she began to lose hope, but not too much hope.
Twilight focused on the spell and charged her horn increasingly. When the spell was just right she shot the complex spell at the portal frame. The crowd behind her were anxious to see what would happen and observed closely. The portal frame absorbed the spell and absolutely nothing happened. "Ah, come on!" Twilight yelled out in anger
After a couple of seconds pass by with nothing eventful she gave up hope on this design and turned around toward the only door. Twilight walked to the door and opened it with her magic. Twilight entered the room of busy ponies trying to figure out how and why the portal design didn`t work. Twilight walked over to Celestia who just happened to be walking toward her at the same time
"Ill try one more portal design today" Twilight told Celestia sternly "Lets do one more portal design for today" Twilight told everypony in the somewhat small room, they all agreed with her and continued their job
Twilight went back into the test room and walked back up to the portal frame. She focused on a spell that teleported the portal frame out where the failed designs went and a new portal design took its place.Twilight already sweating from the powerful spells backed away from the portal to try and open it again.
Twilight slowly charged up her horn and fired at the portal.
BOOM
A 2-D portal frame appeared with a color of every color changing slowly over time. It expanded until it met with the portal frame keeping it from expanding anymore. "Oh my goodness..." Twilight said in awe with a hoof over her mouth seeing the celestial object right in front of her. Twilight looked at the portal for a couple of long seconds before the portal made an ear pricing screech noise making Twilight duck with her hooves over her folded ears
Several long seconds went by with no change until the 2-D shape became distorted and wavy before a five digit appendage popped out of the shape. The screeching had stopped when the appendage came out. Shocked, Twilight backed away quickly before the figure came out fully with two other being following it with. They were tall... at least two times taller then the average pony. The figures wore dirty, damaged, helmets. Their clothes seemed to be in no more good condition. And they were all holding something in their hooves. You could tell by their expressions they were surprised a little until they reacted.
The first one that came out of the portal was the first to react "By whatever you are I demand that you stay still!" It yelled walking forward to meet Twilights gaze. Frightened a little Twilight thought of what to say but she couldnt think of anything in that situation. But the one way door behind her slammed open before Celestia and six guards came rushing in one by one
The other two creatures lifted up their harmless looking items and pointed them at the group that just entered the door. The creature above Twilight decided to talk
"Alright... we can clearly see that you are in fact intelligent, so let`s settle this like smart creatures. Just take a deep breathe" It said breathing deeply before letting it go. It looked over its shoulder to see its other comrades to see that they still were tense. It glared at them, that seemed to do the trick, they seemed to calm down instantly. It looked back at Celestia with no fear in its eyes, come to think of it, with no emotion in its eyes.
"Please tell me that you understood that" The ring leader asked Celestia. With a wing Celestia ordered the guards to uncharge their charged horns
"Yes, We can understand you" Celestia stated boldly. The creature seemed surprised to see that Celestia had responded
"Well I'll be damned..."
