My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Season X

The cold opening has the first bit of episode one, plus some choice bits from the previous episode.

OPENING CREDITS ANIMATION

We open with Black Cherry sitting at the table with Burrows and Bugbears on it. We see that he has the piece of paper Pinkie Pie gave him last episode and a book he has open. He's reading it with great concentration. We see that on the page he's reading is a picture of a rock. A knock on the door is heard and Black Cherry looks away from the book and over at the door with a look of surprise. He then closes the book and puts it and the piece of paper away. After which he looks over at the door and says:

“Come in.”

The door opens and we see Rarity's head poke through the door. Rarity has a smile on her face as she sings:

“We're he-re!”

Black Cherry smiles and asks:

“Who's we?”

Rarity walks through the door and we see Spike sitting on her back. He smiles and says:

“Us.”

Black Cherry raises his head and brings it down as he says:

“Ah, I see.”

Rarity says:

“We're not interrupting anything I hope.”

Black Cherry says:

“Not really. I was just doing some research on rocks before you came in.”

Spike says:

“Please, spare us the details.”

Black Cherry says:

“By the way: Twilight, Applejack and Pinkie Pie gained a level last session. I was so caught up in the wedding reception I forgot all about it.”

Rarity asks:

“How do you plan on explaining that?”

Black Cherry says:

“Easy. Everypony was underwater at the time, so level up beams of light don't work under the sea.”

Spike says:

“It's good enough for me.”

Black Cherry now says:

“I have a special mission for you both. So come over here, close your eyes and we can get started.”

Spike hops off of Rarity's back. They now both sit down at the table and close their eyes. Black Cherry puts on his wizard hat and closes his eyes. Green flames come out of them for a second and blackness fills the screen. We now see Rarity and Spike just outside of what looks like a cave with their eyes closed. They both open their eyes and see the cave. Rarity asks:

“What's the story this time?”

Black Cherry, who is now lording over them, looks down and says:

“After getting back to town from the underwater wedding, everypony went to the tavern. You heard about some diamond dogs asking for assistance from ponies that could use x-ray spells and you went to see what it was all about.”

Spike looks up and says:

“Aw, not them again.”

Rarity sees a bell nearby and taps on it, making it ring. A diamond dog comes out of the cave and sees Rarity. He smiles and says:

“Ah, another pony who has come to help us in our time of-”

He then notices Spike, who currently has a frown on his face. The diamond dog jumps back and has a scared look on his face as he says:

“Gah! A dragon!”

Rarity and Spike look at each other with a raised eyebrow. They now both look at the diamond dog and Rarity says:

“I do not understand.”

The diamond dog gets on his knees and bows in front of Spike as he says:

“Please excuse me sir dragon, I didn't know you brought a pony along to help us in our work.”

Rarity and Spike look at each other again. Spike shrugs his shoulders and they look back at the diamond dog as Spike says:

“You are excused. Now please tell us what's going on here.”

The diamond dog raises his head and says:

“Well you see, not too long ago, the dragon lord heard about how we diamond dogs are very good at digging up gems and the like. Since dragons eat gemstones, the dragon lord has now forced us to dig up as many gems as we can or else.”

Rarity asks:

“Or else what?”

The diamond dog uses one of his hands to air cut himself across his neck. Spike says:

“Well, that explains a lot.”

The diamond dog says:

“Anyway, one of us had the idea of getting ponies to help us find the gems with x-ray spells. That way, we wouldn't be digging blind and potentially compromise the structural integrity of the cave.”

Rarity smiles and asks:

“Could you say that last bit in simpler terms, Darling?”

The diamond dog says:

“In other words, dig in the wrong spot and cause a cave-in that traps everything inside.”

Spike says:

“If there are dragons inside the cave, then I think it would be wise if you took us to their lord.”

The diamond dog gets up and says:

“Yes sir, very good sir.”

The diamond dog motions for Rarity and Spike to follow him as he hurriedly walks into the cave. With unsure looks on their faces, Rarity and Spike follow him into the cave.

CUT TO COMMERCIAL!

We come back and the diamond dog from before walks through a hole with Rarity and Spike following behind him. Rarity looks around and says:

“I must say, it's quite hot in here.”

Spike looks at her and says:

“Yeah. Reminds me of when I went to that dragon summit.”

We then hear a voice from off-screen ask:

“Who dares come into the temporary lair of the dragon lord unannounced?”

We now see a whole bunch of dragons with a throne in the centre. Some of them are lying down, some are sitting, others are swimming around in a lava pool conveniently close by. On the throne is Princess Ember holding the Bloodstone Scepter. She has a serious look on her face. The diamond dog stops in front of her and bows. He then turns to Rarity and Spike as he says:

“Dragon, pony, meet the undisputed lord of all dragons, Queen Ashes.”

Ember now smiles and says:

“Oh, hey, another dragon. And he has a pony friend with him.”

She looks to the diamond dog and has a serious look on her face as she says:

“Beat it.”

The diamond dog nods and runs off. Rarity looks to Spike and says:

“Spike, ask her why she's here of all places.”

Spike says:

“Excuse me, Dragon Lord Queen Ashes.”

Ember looks to Spike and smiles as she says:

“Please, call me Ash. We're all dragons here.”

She looks at Rarity and says:

“Give or take a pony.”

Spike says:

“Ash, we were wondering why you made the diamond dogs dig up gemstones for you and your dragons.”

Ember gets up from the throne and says:

“I became dragon lord not that long ago. When I discovered the supply of gems in the dragon stash was running low, I set out to get more. I'm here with my merry band of dragons to make sure the diamond dogs do as I ask.”

Rarity then asks:

“But why here in particular?”

Ember walks up to her and says:

“Well, if you must know, there's a rumour I heard about a very large diamond out in the world. Apparently, it's supposed to be hidden somewhere in this cave.”

Rarity smiles and says:

“A very large diamond, you say?”

Ember turns around and starts to walk back to the throne as she says:

“Yes. I figured if I had this diamond I could prove my superiority over all dragonkind. Filling up the gemstone supply is a side bonus.”

Rarity now asks:

“By the way, Ash, are you related to a dragon we met in a mountain who claimed he was the former dragon lord?”

Ember turns around and says:

“Yes, he's my father. Dragon custom dictated he retire and let someone else be dragon lord instead. I proved my worth and here I am, lord of all dragons.”

She sits back down on the throne and asks:

“Why? Do you know him?”

Spike smiles and says:

“Know him? He taught me a dragon song as my friend here went to retrieve a sceptre that rolled out of his cave.”

Rarity says:

“It's true. Spike stayed with him as insurance while I went to look for it.”

Ember raises an eyebrow and asks:

“My father taught you a dragon song?”

Spike nods his head and says:

“He sure did.”

Ember raises her chin up and looks down at Spike as she says:

“Prove it.”

Black Cherry's voice says:

“Spike, make a knowledge check.”

A contraption appears in front of Spike. He rolls the gear on the side and pushes down on the top when he's done. A d20 rolls out of the chute and it lands on a sixteen. He looks at it, then looks up at the ceiling as he asks:

“Did I make it?”

Black Cherry says:

“Get out your musical instrument and find out.”

Spike looks back down and says:

“Oh yeah. I forgot all about it.”

He walks over to Rarity's backpack and opens it up. He reaches inside and pulls out the accordion that was stuffed in there. He holds it in front of Ember and looks down at it as he says:

“Well, here goes.”

He plays a little intro on the accordion and then starts to sing:

“For dragons like us we don't put up a fuss when we go step in a lava pool.”

We now get a shot of some dragons looking over at Spike as he sings:

“It gives us no bother since it is like water which we learned while in dragon school.”

We now get a shot of the dragons swimming in lava stop swimming and looking over as Spike off-screen sings:

“We also do find that most animal kind would end up burning fast from the heat.”

The dragons in the lava now get up out of the lava as Spike continues:

“At our indiscretion we'd give them protection though doing so would be some feat.”

We now see Spike playing his accordion with dragons from every which way coming over and crowding around him as he sings:

“We all have so much fun when we see the day's done and we know just how we can relax. By trying to stay fit we all jump into it and glide through the stuff on our backs.”

The dragons have now come from all around and are swaying back and forth as Spike sings:

“If our scales were to break then the lava would make our poor bodies go up like a light. But since we do have them let's eat just one more gem then take a lava swim tonight.”

We cut to Rarity and Ember. They're both smiling and swaying with Ember singing along with Spike as he sings:

“We know every pig really does have a big love for rolling around in the mud. Since it's only dirt that decided to flirt with some water that came from a flood.”

Ember gets up from the throne and slowly swings her way off-screen while singing along as Spike continues:

“We will never try it for we like the dryness of heated liquid from the ground. So we take a swim and then create this hymn of where we will most likely be found.”

We cut to Spike surrounded by dragons, with Ember next to him, as they all sing:

“We all have so much when we see the day's done and we know just how we can relax. By trying to stay fit we all jump into it and glide through the stuff on our backs.”

We zoom in on Spike and Ember as they look at each other while all the dragons sing:

“If our scales were to break then the lava would make our poor bodies go up like a light. But since we do have them let's eat just one more gem then take a lava swim tonight.”

We now see Rarity swaying from side to side as the dragons sing:

“We don't give a puff about that water stuff though most animals like to get wet. In order to get clean they do not get the sheen from having dragon scales we bet.”

We cut to all the dragons swaying to the song. Ember looks over and makes a motion with her hand for someone off-screen to come join them as they sing:

“So keep the liquid that is home to a squid and hope water and lava don't meet.”

Rarity points to herself, looks up as she shakes her head and then runs off the screen as the dragons sing:

“For if ever they do it will create some new land mass we'll walk on with our feet.”

We now cut back to the dragons swaying from side to side, now with Rarity on Spike's left and ember on his right as they altogether sing:

“We all have so much fun when we see the day's done for we know just how we can relax. By trying to stay fit we all jump into it and glide through the stuff on our backs. If our scales were to break then the lava would make our poor bodies go up like a light.”

We zoom in on Rarity, Spike and Ember as the song slows down while everyone sings:

“But since we do have them let's eat just one more gem...”

We zoom back out as everyone in the room sings:

“Then... take a lava swim tonight.”

Spike makes an ending note on his accordion as all of the dragons hoot, holler, and cheer. Spike looks at Ember and smiles as he asks:

“Is that proof enough?”

Ember looks at him and smiles as she says:

“Definitely. That's his favourite.”

Rarity looks at Ember and smiles as she says:

“Well, since we're here, I think I'll help the diamond dogs with finding this very large diamond.”

Ember looks at Rarity and asks:

“Are you sure it's not just because you want it for yourself?”

Spike says:

“If it's as big as you say, we won't be able to take it with us. I think seeing the diamond will be enough.”

Ember then says:

“After getting my entire dragon fleet to join you in song, including me, there's no way I could refuse such a request.”

We now transition to Rarity and Spike with four diamond dogs behind them, including the one that first met them at the entrance. Rarity uses an x-ray spell and from it we see what looks a large patch of white. Rarity looks at it and asks:

“What is that?”

One of the diamond dogs says:

“We don't know. It's not a gem, so we never dug it up to check.”

Spike says:

“If you know what's good for you, I think you better do so this time.”

The diamond dogs all nod their heads as another one of them says:

“Right away, Sir Dragon.”

They start digging toward the white patch. Rarity looks at Spike and asks:

“Did you have to be so harsh to them?”

Spike shrugs his shoulders and says:

“Hey, I'm a dragon. Besides, it feels good after the real ones were so mean to me.”

Rarity looks back over at the dirt that's piling up as she says:

“Yes, I suppose so.”

The diamond dogs stop digging and say:

“We're at it now, but we still don't know what it is.”

Rarity pulls out what looks like a magnifying glass as she says:

“Here, let me have a look.”

Rarity walks up to the white patch and looks closely at it with her magnifying glass. After five seconds she pulls back and gasps. Spike asks:

“What is it, Rarity?”

Rarity looks to Spike and has an astonished look on her face as she says:

“It's... it's diamond! All of it!”

The diamond dogs all make murmurs of amazement. The one that hasn't spoken yet asks:

“Could it be the diamond the dragon lord has been looking for?”

Spike says:

“Well, there's only one way to find out.”

The diamond dogs all look at Spike and nod. Rarity steps back and they now all start furiously digging around the white patch, exposing more and more of it. Suddenly, a rumbling sound is heard from all around them. Rarity and Spike look around them as Spike asks:

“Is that sound what I think it is?”

Rarity says:

“I think we had best be leaving.”

The Diamond dogs stop digging. One of them says:

“I'll get the other dragons.”

That diamond dog runs off in one direction. The second diamond dog says:

“I'll go see if the other diamond dogs are getting out of here.”

That diamond dog runs off in another direction. The third diamond dog says:

“I'll tell the other ponies to get out of here.”

That diamond dog runs off in a third direction. The last remaining one looks to Rarity and Spike as he says:

“You two, follow me.”

The diamond dog runs in a fourth direction. Rarity and Spike look at each other and follow after him.

CUT TO COMMERCIAL!

We come back and see a large group of ponies, dragons and diamond dogs outside of the entrance to the cave. The last of them finally comes out of the entrance and they all look at the cave. What we see now is that the cave is at the bottom of what looks like a fairly large mountain. The rumbling stops for a second. Then, the mountain appears to split open and fall away. When it's finished falling apart, what's left is a gigantic white diamond. Every pony, dragon and diamond dog look at it with amazement and say:

“Oooooooooh!!!!!!!!!”

Spike smiles and says:

“Now THAT is a large diamond.”

Ember, who happens to be right next to Rarity, looks to her and asks:

“So, do you want it now?”

Rarity looks at her and smiles as she says:

“No, I think you had better keep it. It is most definitely too large to take with us.”

Ember then reaches over somewhere and pulls up what looks like a light blue, egg-shaped gemstone. She hold it out in front of Rarity and says:

“In that case, please accept this other diamond instead. It was found not long after the diamond dogs started digging up gemstones.”

Spike raises an eyebrow and points at the bright blue, egg-shaped gemstone and asks:

“How is that a diamond?”

Ember looks to Spike and says:

“Diamonds come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Some in which you would never expect. I also tried biting into it, with no success, so I know it's a diamond for sure.”

Ember looks to Rarity and asks:

“So, how about it?”

Rarity looks at the legit diamond and takes it as she says:

“Yes, I think we will take this diamond after all.”

Spike looks at the diamond and licks it. He smiles and says:

“It might not be edible, but it sure is delicious.”

Suddenly, a beam appears around Rarity. As it disappears, Ember asks:

“What was that?”

Rarity looks at her and says:

“Level up. Abilities get better. That kind of thing.”

Spike says:

“It even makes me a better dragon too.”

Ember smiles and says:

“Hey, that sounds like fun.”

She then notices that there are ponies using their magic to show where gems are and diamond dogs are digging them up. As the diamond dogs do so, we also see dragons picking up the gemstones and putting them all in a pile. Ember has an angry look on her face as she says:

“HEY!!!”

They now all look at her with surprised looks on their faces. Ember smiles and says:

“We just escaped a cave-in and the diamond I was looking for is right here. I think you should take it easy for awhile.”

One of the ponies, who just so happens to look like Sweetie Belle, says:

“But all of the gemstones that got dug up are now buried under all that dirt. The dragons could go hungry.”

The diamond dog we first saw says:

“Yeah, and we're bored.”

A red dragon, who we know as Garble, says:

“And we like seeing others do stuff while we sit around and watch.”

Ember says:

“Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you all, but I decree that you're all on break until further notice.”

All the ponies, diamond dogs and dragons look all sad as they look down and say:

“Awwwww!”

Ember looks over at Spike and smiles as she says:

“In the meantime, I think we should have another round of Take A Lava Swim Tonight.”

Rarity opens the backpack with her magic and pulls out the accordion. She brings it over to Spike and says:

“It's the dragon lord's orders.”

Spike grabs the accordion and smiles as he says:

“Alright, once more from the top.”

All the ponies, diamond dogs and dragons cheer and gather around Rarity, Ember and Spike. They start to sing:

“For dragons like us we don't put up a fuss when we go step in a lava pool.”

We zoom out from this as Black Cherry's voice says:

“And so, having helped out the diamond dogs and found the dragon lord her diamond, you get everyone to join you in another round of the former dragon lord's favourite dragon song.”

We then hear Black Cherry's hooves clop together and a flash of white light appears. We now see the inside of Black Cherry's house. Black Cherry has eyes open and he's looking at Rarity and Spike with their eyes closed. They open their eyes and look at Black Cherry as Spike says:

“It was really something to see Ember again.”

Black Cherry says:

“Oh yeah. Twilight was telling me about somepony named Ember when she came over for her solo mission. Apparently she took over from her father as new dragon lord.”

Black Cherry asks:

“Was that her?”

Rarity says:

“Yes. It was Spike for about ten seconds before he gave the title to her.”

Black looks to Spike and asks:

“You gave up the title of dragon lord?”

Spike shrugs his shoulders and raises his hands as he says:

“What can I say? My place is here, not in dragon territory.”

Black Cherry says:

“Well, you learn something new every day.”

Black Cherry now motions for them to leave as he says:

“Now get out of here so I can start working on your next mission, and be sure to bring the others with you.”

Rarity and Spike get up and smile as Rarity says:

“Alright then. Ta-ta for now.”

Spike hops onto Rarity's back and she walks over to the door. Rarity then walks through and the door and it slams shut. Black Cherry waits for a few seconds and then pulls out the piece of paper and book he was looking at earlier. He opens the book back to where he was earlier with the picture of a rock and has a serious look on his face as he proceeds to read it.
