Cupcake Dressing
Realization
Load Full StoryPinkie Pie had been friends with the 5 other Elements of Harmony for a good year or so by now. She pondered this as she flipped the sign on the door to The Sugarcube Corner to closed. Humming an unknown tune softly, she began to work on some sweets for tomorrow. Constant baking was tiresome at times, though not many recognized it, however Pinkie Pie had found herself loving every second of it since she was a wee lil' filly! Pinkie giggled to herself at the memory of a teeny weeny her getting dirty and dancing around in the kitchen, happily baking a cake for her friend's party, knowing the parents would be amazed by it. She turned to the calender to see if there was anything specific she needed to bake tomorrow. Scanning her eyes along the nearby dates, she caught her eye on a sticky note attached to next Thursday that read "RARITY'S BDAY!!!!! MAKE THE BEST CAKE EVER!!!!!!! :D" in scrawled, purple writing. Pinkie let out something between a mix of a banshee screech and a gentle gasp, her eyes widening at her note to herself. "Ohhhh myyy Goshh!! Oh my sweet sparkling stars!! Rarity's Birthday!" Pinkie wanted to bounce in excitement as well as scream in terror. She swayed forward to backward as sweat began to form on her brow. Pinkie wasn't sure what it was about Rarity, but whenever she was near her, saw her, heard her voice, or even saw her name made it feel like every party canon she ever let off exploded at once. The thought of Rarity made her dance and shout, but also want to cry. Pinkie Pie just found herself to be almost obsessed with her generous friend. And what a good friend she was! Calling her darling, helping her with any problem she had, and overall just always being there for her, even if many ponies would consider her to be a nuisance. Shaking her head, Pinkie needed to plan what kind of cake should be baked. It should be top notch for such a pretty and high-standard pony like Rarity! Hmm... How about a wedding style cake with purple designs scattered on it? Nah, too cheesy. Maybe a big lemon cake with crushed jewels sprinkled on top? Well, Rarity would love the design but only Spike would be able to eat those jewels. Pinkie Pie sighed and dropped her chin on the table, pouting slightly. Mrs. Cake walked into the kitchen, with the inevitable "Oh, Pinkie, is something the matter?" escaping her lips. "Uhh... Mrs. Cake, do you know if they make edible, fake-ish diamonds or anything like that?" Mrs. Cake knitted her eyebrows and looked up before answering. "Well, I think you can order them singularly at Sweet Treat Emporium... But why? Is there a special order I don't know about?" She chuckled and peered over at the calender, before Pinkie could let out a dramatic "Noo!!!" Seeing the note about Rarity, obviously written by Pinkie, Mrs. Cake looked concerned for a second, before grinning slyly and letting out a hearty laugh. "Oh, my Pinkie Pie! You sure do take a liking to that Rarity, you've come here just to talk about her almost everyday for what seems like a year! If I didn't know any better, I would say you have a crush on her." Mrs. Cake let out another giggle before carrying on with her own business and walking out. Pinkie could feel a warm glow flare up her cheeks. "Whoopsy doopsy... I guess I never realized how much I talked about her...Heehee!" She let out another sigh and began to ponder, something her friends didn't really expect her to do very often. 'Do I have a crush on Rarity? Is...that what it's been this whole time?' Feeling her heart flutter a bit just thinking about how she could have what happened to be called a "crush"... On her good friend, Rarity? 'Ugh... Now that I think about it. I guess I have had thoughts of...kissing her and thingies like that. But- I'm not a filly fooler, am I? I mean, I know it's always an It's-okay-to-be-gay-day everyday!' Pinkie smiled at the reminder she had given herself. She was lucky in that Ponyville had always been a place where everypony either didn't mind homosexual mares and stallions, or supported them loudly. Thinking back on her past, it always seemed to make more since for two mares to be together, to her personally. Interrupting her thoughts, the clock on the wall had struck midnight, with the cliché owl popping out to give a friendly "Hoo hoo!" 5 or 6 times. Pinkie walked upstairs and hopped into bed. She didn't get much sleep that night, as the realization she could obviously be a lesbian with a crush on her friend had just now dawned on her.
