Chapter 7: More than Words
The ball had been fun, the live entertainment was amazing, and the party itself was more than she had hoped for. Ian had followed her lead when they danced, and toward the last dance he was comfortable and confident enough to attempt to lead. In the end the two of them ended back at the house both he and Max were using off campus, and once again Sunset found herself entangled with Ian.
Their new transfigured clothes were folded and put away, and Sunset was enjoying being the little spoon. The two of them had gotten undressed and made love almost right off the bat when they got home. The feeling of bliss after they made love, and then cuddled beside each other, was something that she absolutely loved. The more she thought about why she didn’t really find someone back in Canterlot City really hung around the idea that maybe in truth fate was having her wait for Ian.
She felt comforted and safe as they both laid in bed. She wanted to open this world up to the one that she came from. There was no denying that she believed her friends would love this school, but that wasn’t the only reason. She wanted Ian to see her home, and she wanted to be able to come here as well. The Northeastern Institute of Technical and Magical studies had become her school. She wasn’t alone in learning magical theory. She loved Canterlot High, but there was no denying that she had been very much alone there when it came to any magical mishap. That wasn’t to say that her friends didn’t try to help her, they did, but it didn’t take away that the bulk of the heavy mental lifting when it came to the magic itself was on her.
Twilight helped, quite a bit, but at the end of the day Twilight wasn’t her counterpart. She hadn’t grown up with magic, and while she adapted and learned, there was so much she didn’t have the foundation for. She didn’t know magical theory, and she didn’t understand the basic foundations that explained how magic worked with the world around it. Princess Twilight understood so much of it, but it was fairly obvious that Princess Twilight was busy most of the time with everything that was happening on her side of the portal.
She felt happy that things were different here. She had the resources of the school’s library, Ian’s own understanding of magical theory, and then there were the professors. She had begun piecing together a few theories that seemed to link up in explaining the concept of interdimensional travel. Of course it was still likely months away before she could begin experimenting, but knowing that she wasn’t lost in the woods helped.
There was a soft kiss on the back of her neck, and she sighed with contentment as she felt Ian’s arms pull her closer. The feeling of a nearly uncontrollable estrus wasn’t as present anymore either. Her regular sessions with Ian certainly seemed to help, but more than it seemed that the simple act of making friends had done more for it than anything else. The magic of friendship was something that was just as powerful and mysterious as when she was in Canterlot City.
Her friendship with Erma, Max, and most recently with Leeann LeStrange had helped her as well. It seemed that each time she made friends she felt stronger. It wasn’t a physical strength, but instead she felt spiritually stronger. It was almost as if she felt like she could face whatever challenge came, and she could do so with a smile on her face. She felt the sweet promises of sleep, and soon she was sleeping peacefully beside Ian.
When she awoke sunlight was pouring in from behind the curtains in Ian’s room, and from what she could tell it was around noon. She stretched slightly, moved, and looked at Ian who was still sleeping peacefully. She gave him a small kiss, walked toward the joining bathroom, and stepped into it. She set the shower, grabbed a towel and washrag, and soon she was standing under the wonderful cascading water as it began washing away the events of the previous night.
She washed with Ian’s off brand soap, used some mane and tail shampoo that she’d found, and then quickly rinsed out her hair before finally stepping out and grabbing her towel. She quickly dried herself off before wrapping the towel around her hair and stepping back into Ian’s room. Nudity hadn’t been a big thing with her since originally she came from a place where nudity was just a part of life. Of course she quickly learned that the human world was deep in the concept of modesty, and so she adapted.
But being in a room with thick blackout curtains she was fine with walking around nude while her hair dried. The day seemed that it was going to be a normal, typical day, one where they would be able to enjoy each other’s company, they wouldn’t have to worry about much, and the only outside source of contact would likely be Max and Erma. It was a day she was glad to have. Of course she didn’t know that at that moment her friends had Princess Twilight helping look into what had happened to her.
She had no clue that Princess Twilight discovered the experiments she had been doing with Adagio’s necklace. While that was happening none of them knew that Leeann LeStrange had looked into the weird events that had taken place toward the beginning of the semester. Ian had done his due diligence in ensuring that the security cameras, and spying spells, had been disabled before they conducted the spell that ultimately led to the connection between the worlds that brought Sunset here.
He’d ensured that all of the school’s spells and cameras were disabled. But he hadn’t known about a few microcameras that were protected by various wards against wild magic. Those cameras had led through various wireless connections into a laptop that was on Leeann LeStrange’s desk. Leeann hadn’t asked to be friends with Sunset because of these events, or because Sunset wasn’t a native to this world. She had honestly felt a sweet and kind soul inside of the girl and wanted to be friends with her.
She had no problem with Sunset as a person, but this information was far too enticing, too tempting to simply be left alone. So, she had called in a friend to help her with it. If they could bring someone here, then it stood to reason that someone could be sent there. It was dangerous, but since Sunset was here there was little doubt in her mind that Ian, and possibly Sunset herself, had found the safety protocols to work with and all she really needed to do was follow what she had seen.
Setting up took about three hours, and of course finding a suitable doll was the next issue. It was obvious that Ian had splurged and gotten a very high end companion doll. The closest that she could get was something that was almost as good, but certainly of a lesser quality. When it was finished she and her friend followed the steps down to the bras they wore on their heads, something they believed was foolish but obviously part of the ritual, and then they began.
Luck would have it that Princess Twilight, and the girls, had recreated Sunset’s experiment, but with greater safety. In this case Princess Twilight had used a physical door, along with Rarity’s gem magic, to create a stable area for the experiment to occur. When the magic began to arch off of each other they prepared to disengage it only for a powerful white light to explode out of it. That white light spread out, touching the first person it came into contact with.
At that moment Starlight Glimmer had wished that she wouldn’t have come with Twilight. She felt something wrap around her, something odd, and it felt like her entire body simply began to dissolve. But apparently Leeann hadn’t been content with just following. She had gone the extra step of making the circle bigger, placing the doll in place, and focusing her own magic into it. The magic on Princess Twilight’s end spread out further, touching all of the girls before finally touching her as well. All of them felt as if they had been dissolved.
Leeann watched as the doll she had set in the center suddenly split into seven more copies of itself, each glowing impossibly white, and then the computer she used, her laptop, crashed. Laying on the basement floor of her dorm building was eight girls, all with strange hair, differing skin tones, but outside once again the weirdness that had accompanied Sunset had spread across the college campus and well into the town itself.
The homes which had protection wards were spared from the weirdness. Thankfully that included Ian and Max’s home. Their house they had rented had several protective wards across the property, on the home itself, and all of them looked burnt once the wave of wild magic passed. Again strange things happened. Entire buildings were turned to crystal, ice, glass, several students found themselves standing outside completely nude, others had the pigment of their skin altered changing them to some odd color, and dozens of other things.
Despite the fact that the weirdness outside didn’t penetrate the wards of the house itself Sunset felt the surge of magic that she’d felt before. After all, it was a feeling that brought her here and allowed her to exist in this place. If that surge happened then it could be possible that someone from her side had managed to open a gateway into their world. If that was the case then she needed to find them. She bypassed the transfigured clothes, and instead she settled on the second hand clothes that Erma had treated her to. She grabbed a pair of jeans, a bit heavy on the bedazzling, a comfortable pair of panties, some decent socks, a comfy sports bra, and finally a t-shirt that she’d absolutely loved.
The shirt was something that Ian had seen, and he’d bought for her. She had wondered what the deal was with it, after all it looked like the poster to a cheesy movie, but then they watched the movie and she couldn’t stop laughing. Her Weird Science t-shirt was one of her favorite, and the fact that Ian had attempted to do what Wyatt and Gary had done. That said she wasn’t exactly Lisa, but that didn’t really seem to matter. Sure, Lisa was fun to watch, but if she actually existed there would be so much trouble.
In several ways from what Princess Twilight had told her it sounded like Lisa’s powers were similar to Discord’s. If that was the case then it would mean that Lisa’s alter ego would be that of a draconequus. Which of course would mean that she was a being of pure chaos. From what she saw in the movie she was mostly good, but she had a tendency to just do things. The last thing they would need would be for a nearly all powerful girl running around, obsessed with the popularity of two boys, and trying to get them laid.
Nope, she was happy just having her mind reading ability, the access to other magic, and of course being with Ian. Regardless she needed to see what was going on. Once she was dressed she walked over to where Ian was sleeping, kissed his cheek, and then grabbed her bookbag, wallet, and keys before heading out. Stepping outside she saw the effects of what had happened, and she noticed that it was far further reaching than it had been. Her eyes widened as she saw a horse and buggy where there had been a fairly nice sports car last night. She shook her head, turned and walked toward the school.
Her first thought was to head to the library, but she could see that it had a dozen burnt looking wards covering the walls, glass, and entrance ways. It was actually something she had helped do as extra credit, and seeing that the wards had worked certainly made her feel better. But that said she began looking for buildings that wouldn’t be affected. It finally came down to two. Raven Hall was still normal, but again it was the dorm for most of the Enchanters on campus.
They practically practiced their wards on the dorm itself, and once again it proved to be the saving grace. The other was Lester Hall. The dorm was practically untouched, but the feel of the magic seemed to swell from it. She didn’t notice that it had taken her nearly an hour to find the unaffected dorm. Instead she stepped forward, hearing the students all going through the drills of doing what was needed in order to restore order to the school again, and of course find the cause for the chaotic magic that had done this.
She followed the feeling of the magic that had brought her here down the hall, and finally she opened a door to the basement. She walked down the steps, and she saw several bodies on the floor. Her eyes widened as she saw one with Rainbow hair, and then she realized that the carpets matched the drapes. She shook her head, and went to waking them up. Slowly they awoke and she saw both Twilights. It occurred to her that her friends would have questions, and one of the big ones would be why they were naked. Ian had thought ahead and put clothes on the doll that he had used in his spell, but whoever had done this obviously left the dolls nude. It was going to be interesting to explain why they were nude, but she was certain that Princess Twilight would be okay with it. After all she was a pony like her. Their Twilight would freak out. And she was fairly certain that the rest of the girls would follow suit. She looked to see Leeann, and the realization of what happened dawned on her. Leeann didn’t know that she had performing a magical experiment on her end. Which meant that the girls were attempting the same experiment at the same time.
It had been an amazing stroke of luck that it happened that way. Otherwise Leeann could have seriously hurt people. She would need to talk to her about it, but first she needed to help get her friends up and somewhat dressed.
“Ugh,” Twilight said as she sat up, “I feel like Luna dropped the moon on me, twice.”
She watched as her friend blinked her eyes.
“Sunset?” she asked before her eyes widened, “SUNSET!”
She felt Twilight hug her, and soon the other girls were up, and within seconds there was a mass hug. Which ended the moment that someone pointed out that they were all naked. To their credit Princess Twilight and Starlight Glimmer didn’t really act too phased. While she knew the basics of transfiguration magic Sunset wasn’t about to try and transfigure anything into clothes for her friends. The simple truth was that she was afraid of screwing up.
She heard a groan and watched as Leeann slowly sat up. Her friend did the same, and it was almost a shot of nostalgia as she saw them both with bras on their heads.
“Leeann, try anything new recently?”
Leeann LeStrange had the good manners to look a little embarrassed before she finally nodded.
“Is this why you were so quick to make friends with me?” Sunset asked as the feelings of hurt and betrayal began to make their nests inside of her soul, “I mean, was I just an means to this end?”
Leeann shook her head, “No,” she said remorsefully, “I wanted to be your friend because I sensed such a sweet and kind soul, but this is some next level magic. I had to try, I had to see it work for myself, and it did!”
Sunset looked at her, “No, it didn’t, and it didn’t work the first time.”
Leeann looked at her, “Umm, there’s eight girls behind you that speak differently.”
Sunset shook her head realizing that she quickly reaching the point of no fucks given, “No. Seriously it didn’t work. What happened is two kinds of magic fed off of each other creating a sort of unstable portal. I happened to be doing an experiment when Ian tried this the first time, and he had the good sense not to attempt to overcharge it,” she said sounding tired, “And I’m betting that my friends were trying to figure out what happened to me and were doing the same experiment again. The two magics happened to touch, again, and it created the same unstable portal, again.”
Leeann looked at her for a moment, “And if they hadn’t of been doing the experiment?”
She looked at her, “Ian designed this to capture a Djinn into a false body. It would have captured one, and since you copied his ritual exactly it would have failed because he didn’t get the runes completely right. So, from what he told me it’s likely that everyone not in a warded area would be dead.”
Leeann looked shocked, “Oh… Oh, I didn’t realize, I just thought, Oh God.”
Sunset nodded, “I get it, I really do,” she said more gently, “But the quest for knowledge for knowledge sake isn’t always the best course of action. Sometimes you have to take a step back and decide if what you’re doing could hurt someone.”
“Ummm, can we get some clothes now?”
She looked at Rainbow Dash, “And maybe some privacy, because of reasons?”
She nodded, and they looked around finding some clothes in the lost bin. Luckily they had all been washed, which was a bonus. Unfortunately it seemed that none of them exactly fit. The sweat pants they found for Rainbow seemed to be three sizes too big, but there was a draw string. The shirt was also a bit too large, but as long as she didn’t go bending over it would be fine. It was practically the same for everyone else, but once they were mostly dressed they followed Sunset out of the basement, out of the dorm, and down toward the house she shared with Ian.
Getting there wasn’t hard, and once they were in inside she could see the slight confusion on most of their faces. Most except for Starlight and Princess Twilight. Both of them looked concerned, and she understood why. As the fates seemed to decide it was at this point that the door opened and Ian made an appearance. He seemed oblivious to all of them, walking past them, and instead heading toward the most wonderful invention of all time. He opened the refrigerator, dug out a Surge, opened it, and took a deep drink.
After a moment reality caught up with him, and he turned around to see everyone standing there.
“Sunny Buns,” he said cautiously, “Is there eight technocolored girls with two of them possibly being identical twins, standing in our house?”
She gave a nod, “There is,” she replied trying to keep from laughing, “Do you want to know?”
He shook his head, “Erma is going to be busy.”
Leeann, who followed them, looked at him, “You’re taking this well.”
He shrugged, “I’m half asleep, had a really good night, and enjoying a soda. I’m sure that this will hit hard afterwhile.”
Sunset couldn’t help but agree. Of course she knew what was going to hit hard for her friends. It wouldn’t be long until they were practically unable to contain themselves. She could already see the way they were eyeing Ian, Leeann, and even herself. There was little doubt what was going on in their heads, and they had some serious work to do in order to help stabilize them. She really hoped that Max and Erma would show up before too long.
Author's Note
(Wow, it's been a hot second hasn't it? So, I felt inspired, and I had to write this chapter. That said, what happened in it with Leeann was actually planned from the beginning of this. I wanted to bring the two worlds together, and this was the best possible way that I could think of to do it while sticking to the 80's movie feel of the story.)
