Then she noticed something. A letter was in there. She could have sworn it wasn't in there before. She took the letter out and opened it. It read Dear Fluttershy, Please meet me in the Crystal Empire in the park today. Don't worry about tickets, yours is taped to the back of the letter. Trust me, you'll know me when you see me. Fluttershy looked at the back of the letter and saw her train ticket. "Should I go? I have a game today but, I suppose Rainbow Dash could fill in for me. Besides, the letter seemed important, and whoever did this paid for a ticket. I should at least go to thank them," She decided it would be a good idea to go, for if she didn't she would never know who sent her the letter. Rainbow dash was getting ready to go the game when she heard a knock at her door. "Come in!" she shouted. Fluttershy stepped in. "Oh hey Fluttershy, what's up?" "I was wondering if you could fill in for me at the game today. Something came up last minute," "Sure, I'd be more than happy to. What came up anyway?" "Somepony asked me to meet them today," "Really? Who?" "I don't know, they didn't sign it. All they said was you'll know me when you see me," "Maybe it was somepony you haven't met who knows about you," Fluttershy shrugged. "Maybe. Bye!" "Bye!" Fluttershy sighed. She really did want to know who sent it. Maybe it was just a prank. No, that wasn't it. Maybe somepony wanted to talk to her in private. Maybe somepony from the Crystal Empire needed help with an animal. Or maybe she was looking too much into all of this. Just then she looked at the time on her ticket. She had to be there in five minutes. Four minutes later Fluttershy leaped onto the train just before it left. As soon as she was on she spotted somepony she knew. "Starlight? What are you doing here?" "I'm meeting Trixie. Why aren't you at your buckball game?" "I had to go to the Crystal Empire to meet somepony last minute. Rainbow Dash is filling in for me," "Oh. Who are you meeting?" "I don't know. I just got a letter saying to come to the park. It appeared in my mailbox this morning," In an instant Starlight knew who it was. " I think I know who sent the letter. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't, seeing as you know this pony so well," "Who is it?" "Who would leave something in your mailbox just as you were checking it for the final time in the day? Also, did you see the ticket before you read the letter or after?" "After. I must not have noticed it before," "Or he made it appear there," "He?" "Think about it Fluttershy, who would send you a letter so randomly, make the tickets appear only when you look?" Fluttershy gasped. "You mean he sent it to me!? Are you serious?" "Yes, I am. And why are you acting all crazy about this letter? You two send letters to each other all the time," Just then, Starlight's lips formed into a smile."Ohh, I see what's going on here. You have a crush on Discord!" "Not so loud! Besides, you have secrets too, Stormstarter," Fluttershy smiled deviously. She knew Starlight, she had for a while. Starlight was a legend in the underworld. That was where ponies would get things they couldn't get anywhere else. Weapons, magic, information. Many ponies there would go by different names. Starlight was a legend. "Wait, how did you know I was Stormstarter?" "You were a legend, plus, I knew you personally. Don't tell anypony but, I was in there too. I wanted some information on Cloudsdale. I knew they were hiding something. I think it's also where I met 4 of my coltfriends," "Wait a minute, I know who you were! Were you, no, that's not possible," "That's right, I was Adagio. Plus, I'm kinda surprised you didn't know Trixie from sooner or later. She was Sonata," "Ohhh, right, now I remember her. I paid her a price and she gave me a forbidden spellbook," "Anywho, promise you won't tell anypony about any of this conversation, especially Discord," "I won't tell a soul," "I'm still nervous about Discord, though, what if I act weird and he doesn't like me anymore?" "I don't think he'll stop hanging out with you if you act weird," "True, I want to tell him about how I feel but, I just can't," "You don't have to tell him, but, at least try to see if he likes you in the same way," Starlight smiled, she knew Discord had a deep love for Fluttershy and she wanted to tell her so but she knew it was better for them to figure out their feelings on their own. Starlight wanted to ask more questions but just as she opened her mouth, the train stopped and Fluttershy had already left. Author's Note Fluttershy is very out of character right now but she does have that hidden personality in this fic so yeah. Also, Fluttershy saying that Cloudsdale was hiding something was a reference to Rainbow Factory. But this doesn't take place in the same universe as the fic or song. RealizationAs Fluttershy and Discord continued to laugh, the sun began to set. It was a beautiful sunset. The colors looked like they had been painted onto the sky in a random fashion. But, it also seemed welcoming and warm, as if after it had been painted, somepony created finer details. Eventually, Fluttershy and Discord stopped talking. They looked into each other's eyes as if they were trying to say something, but couldn't talk. Fluttershy broke the silence. "Oh my, what time is it? I think it's time for me to go," "Oh," "I guess I could stay for a few more minutes," Fluttershy said quietly. She really did want to stay. After all, why wouldn't she want to be around Discord? He was well, everything Fluttershy wanted in a stallion. He was funny, kind, and in a strange way, handsome. When she looked at him, she didn't notice his horns and twisted body or his tooth. All she saw was his smile and his eyes. It felt strange. Sure Fluttershy had dated 4 colts but that was when she was younger. When she had been less shy. When she had a side to her that was confident and assertive. Besides, she hated those colts. They took her on awful dates. They never complimented her. She didn't know love then. But with Discord, he was everything those colts weren't. He was sweet, original, and well, cared about her. Had she talked to her younger self, she never would have thought she would have loved Discord or become so shy. It was then Fluttershy realized, that, for the first time, she knew what love felt like. Fluttershy snapped back to reality. Discord was getting up and they walked through the park. The moon began to rise and for a while Fluttershy and Discord were silent. Fluttershy broke the silence. "It's such a lovely night," she said. "Indeed," Discord was a lot quieter. He didn't want to make another weird comment. Meanwhile in Canterlot, Luna was looking through her telescope and was looking at the Crystal Empire. She noticed Fluttershy and Discord and smiled. "Sister, come quick!" she said. "What is it?" Celestia asked. "Look!" she pointed at Fluttershy and Discord. Celestia's mouth curled into a smile. She and Luna had caught on to Discord's crush and weren't surprised. She giggled. She hadn't seen Discord this in love since, well, ever. She whispered something to Luna. She nodded. She carefully rearranged the stars so that they made the shape of a heart. Fluttershy and Discord looked up and they both blushed. "It's getting late, you should probably go home," "Oh shoot, I have no clue how I'm gonna get home," "I can teleport you home if you want," "Thanks, bye," "Bye," In a flash Fluttershy was gone. As soon as she was home she was greeted by a furious Angel. "Sorry I was out all day, I didn't feed you did I?" After Fluttershy finished feeding all her animals, she flopped onto her bed. I can't believe Discord thinks I'm pretty she thought. Maybe it was just him being nice or something. Ugh! I wish I knew! Yeah, she was confused. But only because of all the chaos. Realization part 2Author's Note Okay, so this chapter takes place at the same time as Fluttershy's thoughts in the previous chapter but from Discord's perspective. Also please note this chapter has been edited a lot. Realization part 2 As soon as Fluttershy left Discord sighed. Why did I make those comments? he thought. She probably caught on and thinks I'm crazy! Well, crazier. And why were the stars in a heart shape? I swear if Luna did this! Wait, how did she know? Was she watching my dreams or something? Discord felt chills go down his spine as he remembered his dreams about Fluttershy. It wasn't hard seeing as she was all he could think about these days. It was possible he moved the stars into a heart shape without even knowing it. Chaos magic worked differently than other magic. It didn't use spells or concentration. It was fueled by thought and emotion. If he just thought about something, it would happen. Maybe he was so lost in her eyes that he didn't notice he was using magic. Maybe he should talk to somepony about this. Meanwhile in the Crystal Palace, Cadence finally sat down after a long day. Shining was busy spying on Twilight when she had gone on her first date so she had to watch Flurry Heart by herself. When Flurry Heart was finally asleep and Cadence just sat down, a bright light flashed in the room and Discord appeared. "What is it Discord?" she grumbled. The last thing she needed was the spirit of chaos bugging her when she was trying to rest. "Well you certainly seemed nicer the last time we met," "You try governing a kingdom and raising an alicorn foal at the same time," she snapped. "Oh right, you have a foal now. How's that going?" "Could be better. Anyway, why are you here?" "Well, you see I need," Discord gulped, "relationship advice." Cadence's eyes sparkled. "Let me guess, this is about Fluttershy?" "How did you know?" Cadence smirked. "I'm the princess of love, I notice these things. Plus my aunt told me about your dreams." "WHAT?!" he yelled. "Sorry about that. I'm fine. Look the point is, I want to tell Fluttershy how I feel but can't!" "Well, why don't you tell her in your own way?" "And how would I do that?" "Let me ask you something Discord, why do you like Fluttershy?" "Well she's, understanding, caring, pretty, she has a sweet laugh, a beautiful singing voice, and well, she gave me a second chance, " "When did you start liking her?" "Well, when she wrote a letter to me for the first time and I went to her house, it happened." "I see. Well, why don't you tell her everything you like about her doing something you like to do together?" "That's a great idea! How did I not think of that earlier?!" Cadence smiled wearily. "That's great, you're welcome, goodbye." "Oh and, one more thing, tell Moonbutt to stop watching my dreams." Cadence laughed a bit. "I will. Now please leave," Cadence said with a twinge of annoyance in her voice. "Sheesh. Fine. Later, Lovebutt." Cadence blinked. "Wait, what did you call me?" Discord was walking through a portal to his dimension when Cadence froze him in place with her magic. "Oh, um nothing," Discord said while laughing nervously. He tried to walk away but Cadence's grip on his tail was too strong. He looked at her eyes. They were filled with fury. "What have I done?" said Discord fearfully. Eventually, Cadence let go and Discord practically leaped through the portal. He sighed, Cadence's advice, while good, wasn't very helpful now that he thought about it. No matter what, every time he tried to tell her, he would chicken out. Discord sighed. He knew he needed to tell somepony who could understand what he was feeling. Somepony normal, who had flaws. Not Lovebutt or Sunbutt. An idea popped into his head. He knew who to ask. Starlight was getting ready to go to bed when she felt somepony tap her on the shoulder. She spun around and saw that it was Discord. "Discord what are you doing! It's the middle of the night!" "And yet you're awake," he replied with a smirk. "Whatever. Why are you even here?" "I wanted to ask you about something." "Okay. Shoot." "What would you do if say, you had a crush on somepony and you think they might not like you back and that somepony else already likes them and they may already like somepony and you want to tell them you like them but you can't because you're too scared?" Discord took a large breath. "This is about Fluttershy isn't it." "How did you know?" "It's kinda obvious. When the changeling incident happened, all you seemed to care about was saving Fluttershy." Discord thought about that time. He had made it rather obvious. "Oh no." "What?" "I was obvious about my feelings for Fluttershy and now, Trixie knows about it. I gotta go!" Discord dissapeared leaving Starlight bewildered. She giggled. This would turn out crazier than she thought. PlansSomething has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.ConfessionsFluttershy was relaxing at home when a butterfly came in through an open window. It didn't look like a normal butterfly, it was almost glowing and it had beautiful iridescent patterns drawn out in bright green. She followed it out her door. It somehow managed to elude her. She followed it into the Everfree forest. Meanwhile, Discord was, surprisingly, bored at home. Somepony knocked at his door. He opened it up. Nopony was there. A voice said, "Catch me if you can!" "Where and who are you?" "Who says I exist?" Discord growled. "That's it! Nopony ridicules Discord!" He followed the sound of the voice. It led him outside of his pocket universe and into Equestria. He ran into the Everfree forest. At the same time, Fluttershy was still chasing her butterfly. It finally led her to a spot in the Everfree forest. Not too close to the center that it was scary, but not so far away that it wasn't like a forest at all. She stopped in her tracks to see that she was face to face with Discord. "Discord? What are you doing here?" Discord didn't know how to respond. What was he supposed to tell her? That he heard some voice that probably wasn't there and he followed it? "Long story. Why are you here?" "I was chasing a butterfly." "So, since it's so nice out, do you want to stay here for a bit?" Please say yes, please say yes he thought. "Oh, um, sure." Meanwhile at Twilight's castle "Alright, Trixie you got the fireworks covered?" said Starlight. They were putting their plan to get Fluttershy and Discord together into action. "You betcha!" "Great. Twilight, you have the window open?" Twilight opened a window that showed Fluttershy and Discord together. "Check." "Good." Starlight picked up an earpiece. "Rainbow Dash, unleash the fireflies." "Got it!" she replied. She opened a jar and let the fireflies out. Fluttershy and Discord looked at the twinkling bugs flying above them. "Lovely night isn't it?" Discord said. "Oh, um, yeah." Starlight facehoofed. "This isn't working. Trixie, unleash the fireworks!" Trixie's horn lit up and small fireworks exploded above the mare and draconequus. The two looked up. "I wonder who's setting off fireworks right now." "Trixie's probably practicing something." A heart shaped firework exploded directly above their heads. They blushed. Starlight smiled. "Now we're getting somewhere! One more thing." Her horn lit up. Several glowing butterflies flew above the lovers. They surrounded them. Fluttershy didn't know why but for some reason, this gave her confidence. "Discord?" "Yes?" "I've wanted to tell you this for a while but I couldn't." "I have something to tell you too." "I love you!" they said at the exact same time. "Y-you do?" Fluttershy said. "Yes, I do. I wanted to tell you for years now but, I couldn't. I thought you didn't like me back." Fluttershy wrapped her hooves around Discord. A mischievous grin appeared on her face. "You know, there's something else I've been wanting to do for a while." "What?" "This." Fluttershy pressed her lips against his. Discord's eyes went wide for a second, but then they closed. When they pulled away, Discord was smiling like an idiot. "So, do you want to our spot tomorrow?" she said with the grin still on her face. "Of course my dear." Rainbow Dash flew back to Twilight's castle. "Oh my gosh did you see that?! They kissed! They actually kissed!" Rainbow Dash said. "I don't believe it either," Twilight said. "Well, I do. It was pretty obvious," said Starlight. "Still, it was amazing," Twilight said as she smiled. "When do you think they'll tell everypony?" asked Trixie. "If I know Discord, probably tomorrow," Twilight answered. The next day Fluttershy leaped out of bed. Last night was the best night of her life. She brushed her teeth and did her hair, then ate breakfast. She flew out her door and raced to Twilight's castle. She knocked. Twilight opened the door. "Oh, hi Fluttershy." "Twilight guess what?" "What?" "Discord and I are a thing now!" "Congratulations!" she said, trying to sound surprised. "I gotta go, bye!" Fluttershy skipped away. Twilight smiled. Their plan worked. Starlight walked up to her. "What was that about?" Starlight asked. "She doesn't know yet." "Phew! Discord's ranting is bad enough but combine that with Fluttershy's stare? Yikes." Twilight nodded in agreement. Meanwhile, Fluttershy flew over to Applejack's house. She knocked. "Howdy Fluttershy! What can I do ya for?" "Guess what?" "What? This doesn't have to do with Rainbow accidentally blowing off part of Rarity's roof during a dare, does it?" "No, though I should probably ask Rainbow Dash about that later. Discord and I are a thing now!" "Well, I'll be darned! I didn't even know you two liked each other!" "We do! And can you keep this part a secret?" "Sure." "We kissed!" Applejack's eyes widened. "On the lips?!" Fluttershy nodded. Applejack's mouth was hanging wide open. "I- I gotta go lie down now." The mare walked back inside. The pegasus flew off to Carousel Boutique. Rarity opened her door. "Hello, Fluttershy. What can I do for you?" "Discord likes me!" "Oh, my! Did he tell you?" "Yes!" "Did you tell him you like him back?" "Yes!" "Did you kiss?" "Yes!" The pegasus mare soared into the air. "Oh my gosh!" The unicorn wrapped her friend in a hug. "I'm so happy for you!" "Thanks-Rarity-now-please-let go," Fluttershy said, struggling to breathe. "Oh, sorry! So when are you going on your first date?" Fluttershy gasped. "Oh no! I'm meeting him in a few hours! I gotta go, bye Rarity!" Fluttershyy combed her hair, making sure it was extra silky. She walked out her back door, and towards the edge of the Everfree forest. This was their spot. The spot where they always met. As she expected, Discord was there. "Oh, um, hi Discord." "Hello, darling." He kissed her on her cheek. Fluttershy blushed. Her head shot up. It was night now. "Discord look! A shooting star!" Fluttershy silently made a wish. "What did you wish for?" he asked. He could probably make it happen with a snap of his fingers. "I wished that we would be together forever." "Well, at least that's a wish I can grant." He wrapped her in a hug. "You know, the stars and the moon are good lightings for dancing. Shall we?" Music played from nowhere. He held Fluttershy's hooves as they danced. They began to hover in midair. Fluttershy pressed up against his chest. She wanted that moment to last forever. Eventually, their dance ended. Discord looked at Fluttershy. She smiled at him. He kissed her. She nuzzled him. "Well, goodnight Fluttershy." "Goodnight Discord. Thank you, this has been one of the best nights of my life." Fluttershy walked away. Discord sat down. "She really does love me." Author's Note When AJ says she didn't know Discord and Fluttershy liked each other, I was making fun of how oblivious she can be. The QuestionIt had been 1 year. One year since that first date. That was the day everything had changed. Discord was at Fluttershy’s house more than ever. All of their dates were special. Discord would always come up with some original compliment and Fluttershy would laugh, no matter what. Her laugh. Out of all the things he loved about Fluttershy, her laugh was his favorite. It sounded like a tinkling bell, soft and harmonious. They couldn’t possibly be happier. One day, Discord realized something. They could be happier. Now if only he wasn’t such a coward. He had to to do the one thing he never wanted to do. Ask for help. He sighed and snapped his talons, wanting to get it over with. He appeared right behind Starlight, who was staring quite intently at an old scroll. He tapped her on the shoulder. Her head shot up, and she teleported the scroll away. “Oh, it’s you,” she said in a flat, annoyed tone. “Why is it that whenever I come here, you want me to leave?” he said with his trademark grin. “I’m busy,” she grunted. “Well, that’s no excuse to turn away a friend.” Starlight gritted her teeth. She took a deep breath. “Fine. What do you want?” “I was going to ask you if-” “If you should propose to Fluttershy?” she finished with a smirk on her face. “Yeah, I know. Last time you came here, it was about Fluttershy. She’s pretty much all you think about now.” “Well, yes. So should I?” “Why are you asking me?” “Because Lovebutt wouldn’t let me in.” “I don’t blame her,” Starlight muttered. “Look, if you think it’s the right time, then do it.” “Well, how would I know if it is the right time?” he asked worriedly. “You won’t. Just, trust your heart.” “That is ridiculously cheesy,” Discord remarked. “Don’t you dream about your girlfriend?” Starlight countered. “Fair enough. Ta ta!” With that, Discord was gone. The Ponyville Jewelry Shop was closing up. The owner, Pearl Beads, was just wiping down the glass cases when Discord walked in. It wasn’t hard to figure out why he was there.”Hello, Are you looking for a ring for Fluttershy?” “How does everypony know about that?!” “Well, this store is a hotspot for romantic gossip. I hear a lot of ponies talking about their coltfriend, or marefriend, or their friend’s marefriend. Anywho, do you know what you’re looking for?” “Not really.” Discord groaned inside. Great. Just great. I’m about to propose to the love of my life and I have no idea what ring I’m gonna get her, he thought. “Um, the thing is, I don’t exactly have an eye for jewelry.” “No worries! I can help you out with that!” The mare started looking through all the rings. “Now let’s see...” Two hours. Two long, mind-numbing, excruciatingly boring hours. All to pick out an engagement ring. Discord understood the importance of picking out the right one, but he felt like she could have taken a little less time. In the end, he decided on a teal, round cut gemstone with a simple platinum band. Simple yet elegant. Just like her,he thought. Now all he had to do was find the perfect time to tell her. But first, the ring needed a little, personal touch. He snapped his talons and an inscription appeared in the ring. Discord grinned. Now it was perfect. Fluttershy was just about to feed Angel when she heard a loud pop. She looked and saw that the noise came from her mailbox. She giggled. She knew where this was going. She looked inside and opened up the letter. It read, Dear Fluttershy, Please join me tomorrow at our spot at seven for a picnic. Do me a favor and leave the devil, I mean Angel at home. I sincerely hope you know that he is a terror to society. I heard he’s trying to lead an uprising against the mayor. Don’t worry, I’m not going to try to be ‘normal’ again. I have a surprise for you, I think you’ll like it. Love, Discord The letter wrote itself as Fluttershy read it. She laughed. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow. Their dates were always exciting even when Discord wasn’t surprising her. She sighed remembering the warmth of his fur, his jokes, his charming compliments. She was awoken from her blissful daydream by the thumping foot of Angel the Demon Bunny. “Oh Angel, I’m just so in love with him. I don’t know what I’d do without him.” She sighed again. Angel just rolled his eyes. “Oh, sorry Angel!” After feeding Angel, she flopped onto her bed. She looked at the fox plushie Discord made her for Hearth’s Warming the year they met. She grabbed it and drifted off to sleep. Fluttershy leapt out of bed and into her bathroom. She brushed her teeth and showered. She fed all her animals, went to the market to do some shopping, and got home at nine. She heard a knock at her door. She opened it to find Rainbow Dash at her door. “Oh, hi, Rainbow Dash.” “Hey Flutters. Doing anything today?” “I’m meeting Discord at seven.” “Of course you are. You think about him all the time.” “I guess I do. Sometimes I get so lost in daydreaming, I forget to feed the animals! Anyway, what brings you here?” “Nothing, just wanted to say hi. Mind if I stay for a bit?” “No, not at all. Come in.” As Rainbow Dash stepped in, Fluttershy noticed a bandage on her hoof. “What happened to your hoof?” she asked. “Oh, Spitfire got mad when she saw Soarin and I kiss. Apparently she had a crush on him. But I heard after she calmed down and we forgave each other, someone saw her and Lightning Dust blushing at each other.” “Well it’s nice to know both of you are okay. She and Rainbow Dash were sitting down talking about recent events. “Did you know that now, a bunch of other towns have buckball teams? Guess that means we’re gonna be traveling a lot huh?” “I guess so. Hey Rainbow Dash, is it just me, or is it bad that Rarity is dating Trenderhoof?” “Well duh! I mean, he treats her like dirt and she’s still in love with him even though his attitude is terrible! And he never writes to her and he’s always going somewhere! I mean, you travel, but you still spend time with Discord! It’s not right.” “Oh, um, Rainbow Dash sorry to make you leave but, I um, have to leave soon.” “No problem. See ya later!” Rainbow Dash flew out the door. Fluttershy went upstairs and combed her hair a bit more. She grabbed a bottle of perfume off her nightstand. She spritzed some on, adding to the sweet scent of her hair. She flew out her door. It was 6:50. She got there at exactly seven. As she expected, Discord was there. He kissed her on the cheek. She laughed. He hugged her. Discord set her down. “So, what’s new?” “Discord, are you trying to be normal again?” Discord batted his eyelashes. “Now why would I do that? I’m just being innocent. It would be rude to disappear.” He smiled, hoping she’d understand the joke. When she didn’t, he made a face. Fluttershy burst out laughing. “What’s so funny?” “Oh Discord, I was just teasing you. I couldn’t hold it in any longer.” Discord began to laugh too. He picked her up again. “I didn’t expect that, and you didn’t expect this!” He began tickling her, once she was safely on the ground. She laughed uncontrollably, but she began using her wings to tickle him back. As soon as they both calmed down Discord remembered what he needed to do. Suddenly, he didn’t feel so nervous. “Fluttershy?” “Yes Discord?” Discord got down on one knee. “You mean the world to me. Ever since you came into my life, I felt something I had never felt before. You have made me a better draconequus in so many ways. I don’t think I could ever live without you. Fluttershy, will you make me the happiest guy in the universe, and marry me?” He pulled out a box with the ring inside. Fluttershy tackled him in a hug. “Oh Discord yes, a thousand times yes!” He placed the ring, which was on a simple string, around her neck. The couple shared a kiss. Fluttershy leaned against Discord’s chest. “I love you,” she said. “I know,” Discord replied. Fluttershy’s friends’ reaction to her engagement was a lot better than she hoped. Fluttershy and Discord had invited them all to Sugarcube Corner to tell them. “We have some very big news to tell you all,” Fluttershy said excitedly. Starlight, Twilight, Trixie, and Rainbow Dash all smiled. Could it be? “Well, what is it?” Rarity asked curiously. “We’re getting married!” Fluttershy said. Discord had his trademark grin on his face, and he was holding Fluttershy’s hoof. It took a second for everypony to register it, but as soon as they did, they tackled the couple in a hug. “We’re, so so so so so so happy for you!” Pinkie exclaimed. “I call making the wedding cake!” “I’m making dresses!” Rarity announced. Rainbow Dash and Applejack groaned. “What?” “We’re really happy for you guys,” Starlight said as she smiled warmly. “Yeah Dipcord,” Rainbow Dash joked. She and Trixie hoofbumped. Twilight rolled her eyes. This was even crazier than Soarin’s engagement to Rainbow Dash. That’s a story for another time. Anyway, everypony was happy. “Wait, one question. What’s Spike gonna say about all this? I haven’t seen him all week.” “Oh, that reminds me, you’ll never guess what happened,” Twilight said. “Spike grew five inches!” Starlight exclaimed. “No way!” “I don’t believe it!” “How?!” “Oh, and his voice also dropped.” “Well, that explains all the voice cracks,” Rainbow Dash said. “A wedding and Spike hit puberty! This is the most amazing thing to ever happen!” Pinkie said. She stopped to take a deep breath. Yeah okay Pinkie was right, this was probably on the list of the most amazing things to ever happen. “Hey writer! Yes I know what you’re typing! Stop using such informal slang in this story! This isn’t some first person story where you can just talk to the readers! Follow the rules!” “Uh, Pinkie, who are you talking to?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Oh, no one,” she replied cheerfully. Okay I have no clue what just happened. Did Pinkie Pie just yell at me for bad writing? Now I know how Pinkie Tales narrators feel. Anyway, since I don’t want to get yelled at again by a pink horse, forget that whole thing happened. Where were we? Oh right, this was definitely one of the most, um, extraordinary occurrences in the history of the universe. But It wasn’t a bad thing to anyone. Except for one, who was slowly planning her revenge. Author's Note Funny, I used this same title for the first chapter of my worst fic. Things are gonna get really crazy soon, I promise. Then the drama tag will come into play. I loved Discordant Harmony and I got my monthly dose of fluff. Also, anyone spot the Star Wars reference? Assume all events take place after the show is over. I think the story will be finished in about 3 weeks tops. BONUS: Hearts and Hooves DayAuthor's Note Obligatory Valentine's Day chapter, I may rewrite this at some point. Just for clarity, this takes place in between the last two chapters. I'm rushing to finish this, bear with me. This is just a little short idea I had, and I didn't feel like writing out the date scene. I'll probably make this it's own one shot and put it in more details a little bit later, maybe next year. BONUS: Hearts and Hooves Day "Do we have to do this?" Fluttershy asked, wincing as the brush got caught in her mane again. "Come on sis, it's Hearts and Hooves Day, have some fun!" Fluttershy gritted her teeth. "Fun? Zephyr, for me, fun is a nice, quiet date at home, not whatever you and Rarity planned," she replied. As if on cue, Rarity rushed in. "Darling, leaving your hair the way it is would be fine," she said. "Thank you!" "If you were just meeting in the park," Rarity finished. Fluttershy rolled her eyes. "It's the one day of the year when it actually makes sense for Discord to be over the top, who knows what he came up with this time?" Fluttershy gave her friend a deadpan look. "You do realize that you used the words 'Discord' and 'Makes Sense' in the same sentence, right?" Rarity didn't seem to hear her, and went on. "Hair aside, I have about five dresses for you to try on, maybe six. Perhaps we should start with the lavender one..." As Rarity droned on, Fluttershy snuck a glance at the clock. She sighed. This was going to be a long five hours. The pattering and scratching noises of Discord's mismatched feet again the crystal floors was enough to drive Starlight insane. Twilight had a date with some mystery stallion, who, surprisingly, wasn't Flash. That left her to deal with Discord's whining. She looked at him, rolling her eyes. He was a nervous wreck, to the point where he'd created a sizable chasm in the floor, similar to the one Twilight had made in her old home. Finally, Starlight spoke up. "What are you so worried about?" Discord turned around slowly, his eyes even wider than usual. "WHAT AM I SO WORRIED ABOUT?!?!" he screamed. He took a deep breath to calm himself. "It's Hearts and Hooves Day, and I still have no idea what I'm going to do for Fluttershy!" "You seem to have no problem coming up with ideas every other day of the year," Starlight remarked. "This isn't every other day of the year! This has to be special!" "I still don't get what the big deal is," she replied. Discord raised an eyebrow. "I mean, ponies are always saying that Hearts and Hooves dates should be special and magnificent, but shouldn't that be every date? I'm not saying you have to go all out every time, but if you love somepony, every date should feel special. Why just one day of the year?" Discord blinked, unsure of how to respond. He snapped his fingers. "I got it!" Starlight chuckled as he teleported away. "Look out Fluttershy, here comes your coltfriend." Fluttershy sighed as she walked in. Unsurprisingly, she found her brother and Rarity standing right behind the door, ready to ask her a million questions. "What did he do?" "Did he teleport you to the Royal Gardens?" "Did he move the stars to spell out your name?" "Did he take you to that brand new art gallery in Canterlot?" "Well, what happened?" both of them finished. Before Fluttershy had the chance to say anything, Rarity asked another question. She eyed her hair. "What happened to that updo?" she questioned, noticing the loose ponytail hanging at Fluttershy's side. "Sis, what exactly were you guys doing?" Zephyr asked. Fluttershy smiled. "We had a nice, quiet picnic in the park," she answered. "On the one day of the year he's supposed to go all out, he just went to the park with you?" her brother asked. "I mean, Hearts and Hooves Day is special, and-" Fluttershy cut him off. "And it was special. That park was the first place Discord and I went together as friends once he was officially reformed. It meant a lot to me." Zephyr was about to retaliate about how he could have done something more, or how his sister deserved better, but Rarity stopped him. "Well, it may not have been what we expected from Discord, but it was heartfelt nonetheless." Fluttershy gave an appreciative smile and walked up stairs. As she was walking, she turned around. "Rarity?" "Hm?" "Happy Hearts and Hooves Day. And Zephyr?" "Yeah?" "We all know you and Rarity have crushes on each other, stop denying it." And so, without saying anything else, the pegasus walked upstairs, leaving behind the astonished, confused, embarrassed beings known as Rarity and Zephyr Breeze. The ParkIt was a warm sunny afternoon in the Crystal Empire. Fillies and colts were playing in the streets. Dogs were barking, birds were chirping, flowers were blooming. It was perfect. Fluttershy walked through the park looking for Discord. After going around the entire park Fluttershy still hadn't found him. Where is he? she thought. Did he not think I was coming? Is he in a different form? While Fluttershy asked herself where he could be, she felt somepony tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around, but nopony was there. She felt a tap on the other shoulder. She giggled to herself and facehoofed for not realizing it earlier. She looked up and saw Discord on a tree branch above her. "Discord! I was looking for you for 30 minutes!" "Sorry if I startled you Fluttershy. You know how I do things," "It's alright, I'm fine. How are you?" "Fantastic, as long as you're here," Discord mentally slapped himself for that. Why did I say that?! That sounds so stupid! What if she realizes I like her and stops talking to me?! He shook his head and snapped himself back to the present. He had done all that thinking in about 2 and a half seconds so Fluttershy had just started talking. "Oh Discord, you're so funny," Fluttershy giggled. Discord was so romantic in his own way. He had the most original and charming compliments. "Anyway, why did you invite me here?" "Well, I decided since it was such a lovely day, we should have a picnic here," Discord smiled. That was only part of the reason. He simply wanted to talk to her. Plus, he loved being around her. If he couldn't tell her how he felt then it was at least nice to be around her. "But the beauty of this day cannot even compare to yours," Discord mentally slapped himself again. Come on Discord, play it cool! Fluttershy blushed. On the outside, she looked a little embarrassed but inside she was screaming. Oh my gosh! Does Discord think I'm pretty?! AHH! "Ummm," "Can we pretend I never said that?" "Yeah," The tension in the air was thick. Neither of them said anything. This was much to Discord's dismay as he hated quiet. As if on cue, Starlight and Trixie walked by. Starlight had heard the entire conversation and knew she needed to intervene. She pointed it out to Trixie and she gave her a suggestion. Starlight nodded and cast a spell. "What did you do?" asked Trixie. "They'll forget about anything awkward that happened until their picnic is over," answered Starlight. Fluttershy and Discord began to talk again and acted like nothing ever happened. Starlight smiled. Maybe they would tell each other after all. Author's Note FLUTTERCORD!!!!!!!!! Seriously, though. A few more chapters of fluff and then I'll get serious.
The LetterFluttershy was just getting ready for a buckball game when she checked her mail to see if anypony had sent her anything. Then she noticed something. A letter was in there. She could have sworn it wasn't in there before. She took the letter out and opened it. It read Dear Fluttershy, Please meet me in the Crystal Empire in the park today. Don't worry about tickets, yours is taped to the back of the letter. Trust me, you'll know me when you see me. Fluttershy looked at the back of the letter and saw her train ticket. "Should I go? I have a game today but, I suppose Rainbow Dash could fill in for me. Besides, the letter seemed important, and whoever did this paid for a ticket. I should at least go to thank them," She decided it would be a good idea to go, for if she didn't she would never know who sent her the letter. Rainbow dash was getting ready to go the game when she heard a knock at her door. "Come in!" she shouted. Fluttershy stepped in. "Oh hey Fluttershy, what's up?" "I was wondering if you could fill in for me at the game today. Something came up last minute," "Sure, I'd be more than happy to. What came up anyway?" "Somepony asked me to meet them today," "Really? Who?" "I don't know, they didn't sign it. All they said was you'll know me when you see me," "Maybe it was somepony you haven't met who knows about you," Fluttershy shrugged. "Maybe. Bye!" "Bye!" Fluttershy sighed. She really did want to know who sent it. Maybe it was just a prank. No, that wasn't it. Maybe somepony wanted to talk to her in private. Maybe somepony from the Crystal Empire needed help with an animal. Or maybe she was looking too much into all of this. Just then she looked at the time on her ticket. She had to be there in five minutes. Four minutes later Fluttershy leaped onto the train just before it left. As soon as she was on she spotted somepony she knew. "Starlight? What are you doing here?" "I'm meeting Trixie. Why aren't you at your buckball game?" "I had to go to the Crystal Empire to meet somepony last minute. Rainbow Dash is filling in for me," "Oh. Who are you meeting?" "I don't know. I just got a letter saying to come to the park. It appeared in my mailbox this morning," In an instant Starlight knew who it was. " I think I know who sent the letter. In fact, I'm surprised you haven't, seeing as you know this pony so well," "Who is it?" "Who would leave something in your mailbox just as you were checking it for the final time in the day? Also, did you see the ticket before you read the letter or after?" "After. I must not have noticed it before," "Or he made it appear there," "He?" "Think about it Fluttershy, who would send you a letter so randomly, make the tickets appear only when you look?" Fluttershy gasped. "You mean he sent it to me!? Are you serious?" "Yes, I am. And why are you acting all crazy about this letter? You two send letters to each other all the time," Just then, Starlight's lips formed into a smile."Ohh, I see what's going on here. You have a crush on Discord!" "Not so loud! Besides, you have secrets too, Stormstarter," Fluttershy smiled deviously. She knew Starlight, she had for a while. Starlight was a legend in the underworld. That was where ponies would get things they couldn't get anywhere else. Weapons, magic, information. Many ponies there would go by different names. Starlight was a legend. "Wait, how did you know I was Stormstarter?" "You were a legend, plus, I knew you personally. Don't tell anypony but, I was in there too. I wanted some information on Cloudsdale. I knew they were hiding something. I think it's also where I met 4 of my coltfriends," "Wait a minute, I know who you were! Were you, no, that's not possible," "That's right, I was Adagio. Plus, I'm kinda surprised you didn't know Trixie from sooner or later. She was Sonata," "Ohhh, right, now I remember her. I paid her a price and she gave me a forbidden spellbook," "Anywho, promise you won't tell anypony about any of this conversation, especially Discord," "I won't tell a soul," "I'm still nervous about Discord, though, what if I act weird and he doesn't like me anymore?" "I don't think he'll stop hanging out with you if you act weird," "True, I want to tell him about how I feel but, I just can't," "You don't have to tell him, but, at least try to see if he likes you in the same way," Starlight smiled, she knew Discord had a deep love for Fluttershy and she wanted to tell her so but she knew it was better for them to figure out their feelings on their own. Starlight wanted to ask more questions but just as she opened her mouth, the train stopped and Fluttershy had already left. Author's Note Fluttershy is very out of character right now but she does have that hidden personality in this fic so yeah. Also, Fluttershy saying that Cloudsdale was hiding something was a reference to Rainbow Factory. But this doesn't take place in the same universe as the fic or song.
RealizationAs Fluttershy and Discord continued to laugh, the sun began to set. It was a beautiful sunset. The colors looked like they had been painted onto the sky in a random fashion. But, it also seemed welcoming and warm, as if after it had been painted, somepony created finer details. Eventually, Fluttershy and Discord stopped talking. They looked into each other's eyes as if they were trying to say something, but couldn't talk. Fluttershy broke the silence. "Oh my, what time is it? I think it's time for me to go," "Oh," "I guess I could stay for a few more minutes," Fluttershy said quietly. She really did want to stay. After all, why wouldn't she want to be around Discord? He was well, everything Fluttershy wanted in a stallion. He was funny, kind, and in a strange way, handsome. When she looked at him, she didn't notice his horns and twisted body or his tooth. All she saw was his smile and his eyes. It felt strange. Sure Fluttershy had dated 4 colts but that was when she was younger. When she had been less shy. When she had a side to her that was confident and assertive. Besides, she hated those colts. They took her on awful dates. They never complimented her. She didn't know love then. But with Discord, he was everything those colts weren't. He was sweet, original, and well, cared about her. Had she talked to her younger self, she never would have thought she would have loved Discord or become so shy. It was then Fluttershy realized, that, for the first time, she knew what love felt like. Fluttershy snapped back to reality. Discord was getting up and they walked through the park. The moon began to rise and for a while Fluttershy and Discord were silent. Fluttershy broke the silence. "It's such a lovely night," she said. "Indeed," Discord was a lot quieter. He didn't want to make another weird comment. Meanwhile in Canterlot, Luna was looking through her telescope and was looking at the Crystal Empire. She noticed Fluttershy and Discord and smiled. "Sister, come quick!" she said. "What is it?" Celestia asked. "Look!" she pointed at Fluttershy and Discord. Celestia's mouth curled into a smile. She and Luna had caught on to Discord's crush and weren't surprised. She giggled. She hadn't seen Discord this in love since, well, ever. She whispered something to Luna. She nodded. She carefully rearranged the stars so that they made the shape of a heart. Fluttershy and Discord looked up and they both blushed. "It's getting late, you should probably go home," "Oh shoot, I have no clue how I'm gonna get home," "I can teleport you home if you want," "Thanks, bye," "Bye," In a flash Fluttershy was gone. As soon as she was home she was greeted by a furious Angel. "Sorry I was out all day, I didn't feed you did I?" After Fluttershy finished feeding all her animals, she flopped onto her bed. I can't believe Discord thinks I'm pretty she thought. Maybe it was just him being nice or something. Ugh! I wish I knew! Yeah, she was confused. But only because of all the chaos.
Realization part 2Author's Note Okay, so this chapter takes place at the same time as Fluttershy's thoughts in the previous chapter but from Discord's perspective. Also please note this chapter has been edited a lot. Realization part 2 As soon as Fluttershy left Discord sighed. Why did I make those comments? he thought. She probably caught on and thinks I'm crazy! Well, crazier. And why were the stars in a heart shape? I swear if Luna did this! Wait, how did she know? Was she watching my dreams or something? Discord felt chills go down his spine as he remembered his dreams about Fluttershy. It wasn't hard seeing as she was all he could think about these days. It was possible he moved the stars into a heart shape without even knowing it. Chaos magic worked differently than other magic. It didn't use spells or concentration. It was fueled by thought and emotion. If he just thought about something, it would happen. Maybe he was so lost in her eyes that he didn't notice he was using magic. Maybe he should talk to somepony about this. Meanwhile in the Crystal Palace, Cadence finally sat down after a long day. Shining was busy spying on Twilight when she had gone on her first date so she had to watch Flurry Heart by herself. When Flurry Heart was finally asleep and Cadence just sat down, a bright light flashed in the room and Discord appeared. "What is it Discord?" she grumbled. The last thing she needed was the spirit of chaos bugging her when she was trying to rest. "Well you certainly seemed nicer the last time we met," "You try governing a kingdom and raising an alicorn foal at the same time," she snapped. "Oh right, you have a foal now. How's that going?" "Could be better. Anyway, why are you here?" "Well, you see I need," Discord gulped, "relationship advice." Cadence's eyes sparkled. "Let me guess, this is about Fluttershy?" "How did you know?" Cadence smirked. "I'm the princess of love, I notice these things. Plus my aunt told me about your dreams." "WHAT?!" he yelled. "Sorry about that. I'm fine. Look the point is, I want to tell Fluttershy how I feel but can't!" "Well, why don't you tell her in your own way?" "And how would I do that?" "Let me ask you something Discord, why do you like Fluttershy?" "Well she's, understanding, caring, pretty, she has a sweet laugh, a beautiful singing voice, and well, she gave me a second chance, " "When did you start liking her?" "Well, when she wrote a letter to me for the first time and I went to her house, it happened." "I see. Well, why don't you tell her everything you like about her doing something you like to do together?" "That's a great idea! How did I not think of that earlier?!" Cadence smiled wearily. "That's great, you're welcome, goodbye." "Oh and, one more thing, tell Moonbutt to stop watching my dreams." Cadence laughed a bit. "I will. Now please leave," Cadence said with a twinge of annoyance in her voice. "Sheesh. Fine. Later, Lovebutt." Cadence blinked. "Wait, what did you call me?" Discord was walking through a portal to his dimension when Cadence froze him in place with her magic. "Oh, um nothing," Discord said while laughing nervously. He tried to walk away but Cadence's grip on his tail was too strong. He looked at her eyes. They were filled with fury. "What have I done?" said Discord fearfully. Eventually, Cadence let go and Discord practically leaped through the portal. He sighed, Cadence's advice, while good, wasn't very helpful now that he thought about it. No matter what, every time he tried to tell her, he would chicken out. Discord sighed. He knew he needed to tell somepony who could understand what he was feeling. Somepony normal, who had flaws. Not Lovebutt or Sunbutt. An idea popped into his head. He knew who to ask. Starlight was getting ready to go to bed when she felt somepony tap her on the shoulder. She spun around and saw that it was Discord. "Discord what are you doing! It's the middle of the night!" "And yet you're awake," he replied with a smirk. "Whatever. Why are you even here?" "I wanted to ask you about something." "Okay. Shoot." "What would you do if say, you had a crush on somepony and you think they might not like you back and that somepony else already likes them and they may already like somepony and you want to tell them you like them but you can't because you're too scared?" Discord took a large breath. "This is about Fluttershy isn't it." "How did you know?" "It's kinda obvious. When the changeling incident happened, all you seemed to care about was saving Fluttershy." Discord thought about that time. He had made it rather obvious. "Oh no." "What?" "I was obvious about my feelings for Fluttershy and now, Trixie knows about it. I gotta go!" Discord dissapeared leaving Starlight bewildered. She giggled. This would turn out crazier than she thought.
ConfessionsFluttershy was relaxing at home when a butterfly came in through an open window. It didn't look like a normal butterfly, it was almost glowing and it had beautiful iridescent patterns drawn out in bright green. She followed it out her door. It somehow managed to elude her. She followed it into the Everfree forest. Meanwhile, Discord was, surprisingly, bored at home. Somepony knocked at his door. He opened it up. Nopony was there. A voice said, "Catch me if you can!" "Where and who are you?" "Who says I exist?" Discord growled. "That's it! Nopony ridicules Discord!" He followed the sound of the voice. It led him outside of his pocket universe and into Equestria. He ran into the Everfree forest. At the same time, Fluttershy was still chasing her butterfly. It finally led her to a spot in the Everfree forest. Not too close to the center that it was scary, but not so far away that it wasn't like a forest at all. She stopped in her tracks to see that she was face to face with Discord. "Discord? What are you doing here?" Discord didn't know how to respond. What was he supposed to tell her? That he heard some voice that probably wasn't there and he followed it? "Long story. Why are you here?" "I was chasing a butterfly." "So, since it's so nice out, do you want to stay here for a bit?" Please say yes, please say yes he thought. "Oh, um, sure." Meanwhile at Twilight's castle "Alright, Trixie you got the fireworks covered?" said Starlight. They were putting their plan to get Fluttershy and Discord together into action. "You betcha!" "Great. Twilight, you have the window open?" Twilight opened a window that showed Fluttershy and Discord together. "Check." "Good." Starlight picked up an earpiece. "Rainbow Dash, unleash the fireflies." "Got it!" she replied. She opened a jar and let the fireflies out. Fluttershy and Discord looked at the twinkling bugs flying above them. "Lovely night isn't it?" Discord said. "Oh, um, yeah." Starlight facehoofed. "This isn't working. Trixie, unleash the fireworks!" Trixie's horn lit up and small fireworks exploded above the mare and draconequus. The two looked up. "I wonder who's setting off fireworks right now." "Trixie's probably practicing something." A heart shaped firework exploded directly above their heads. They blushed. Starlight smiled. "Now we're getting somewhere! One more thing." Her horn lit up. Several glowing butterflies flew above the lovers. They surrounded them. Fluttershy didn't know why but for some reason, this gave her confidence. "Discord?" "Yes?" "I've wanted to tell you this for a while but I couldn't." "I have something to tell you too." "I love you!" they said at the exact same time. "Y-you do?" Fluttershy said. "Yes, I do. I wanted to tell you for years now but, I couldn't. I thought you didn't like me back." Fluttershy wrapped her hooves around Discord. A mischievous grin appeared on her face. "You know, there's something else I've been wanting to do for a while." "What?" "This." Fluttershy pressed her lips against his. Discord's eyes went wide for a second, but then they closed. When they pulled away, Discord was smiling like an idiot. "So, do you want to our spot tomorrow?" she said with the grin still on her face. "Of course my dear." Rainbow Dash flew back to Twilight's castle. "Oh my gosh did you see that?! They kissed! They actually kissed!" Rainbow Dash said. "I don't believe it either," Twilight said. "Well, I do. It was pretty obvious," said Starlight. "Still, it was amazing," Twilight said as she smiled. "When do you think they'll tell everypony?" asked Trixie. "If I know Discord, probably tomorrow," Twilight answered. The next day Fluttershy leaped out of bed. Last night was the best night of her life. She brushed her teeth and did her hair, then ate breakfast. She flew out her door and raced to Twilight's castle. She knocked. Twilight opened the door. "Oh, hi Fluttershy." "Twilight guess what?" "What?" "Discord and I are a thing now!" "Congratulations!" she said, trying to sound surprised. "I gotta go, bye!" Fluttershy skipped away. Twilight smiled. Their plan worked. Starlight walked up to her. "What was that about?" Starlight asked. "She doesn't know yet." "Phew! Discord's ranting is bad enough but combine that with Fluttershy's stare? Yikes." Twilight nodded in agreement. Meanwhile, Fluttershy flew over to Applejack's house. She knocked. "Howdy Fluttershy! What can I do ya for?" "Guess what?" "What? This doesn't have to do with Rainbow accidentally blowing off part of Rarity's roof during a dare, does it?" "No, though I should probably ask Rainbow Dash about that later. Discord and I are a thing now!" "Well, I'll be darned! I didn't even know you two liked each other!" "We do! And can you keep this part a secret?" "Sure." "We kissed!" Applejack's eyes widened. "On the lips?!" Fluttershy nodded. Applejack's mouth was hanging wide open. "I- I gotta go lie down now." The mare walked back inside. The pegasus flew off to Carousel Boutique. Rarity opened her door. "Hello, Fluttershy. What can I do for you?" "Discord likes me!" "Oh, my! Did he tell you?" "Yes!" "Did you tell him you like him back?" "Yes!" "Did you kiss?" "Yes!" The pegasus mare soared into the air. "Oh my gosh!" The unicorn wrapped her friend in a hug. "I'm so happy for you!" "Thanks-Rarity-now-please-let go," Fluttershy said, struggling to breathe. "Oh, sorry! So when are you going on your first date?" Fluttershy gasped. "Oh no! I'm meeting him in a few hours! I gotta go, bye Rarity!" Fluttershyy combed her hair, making sure it was extra silky. She walked out her back door, and towards the edge of the Everfree forest. This was their spot. The spot where they always met. As she expected, Discord was there. "Oh, um, hi Discord." "Hello, darling." He kissed her on her cheek. Fluttershy blushed. Her head shot up. It was night now. "Discord look! A shooting star!" Fluttershy silently made a wish. "What did you wish for?" he asked. He could probably make it happen with a snap of his fingers. "I wished that we would be together forever." "Well, at least that's a wish I can grant." He wrapped her in a hug. "You know, the stars and the moon are good lightings for dancing. Shall we?" Music played from nowhere. He held Fluttershy's hooves as they danced. They began to hover in midair. Fluttershy pressed up against his chest. She wanted that moment to last forever. Eventually, their dance ended. Discord looked at Fluttershy. She smiled at him. He kissed her. She nuzzled him. "Well, goodnight Fluttershy." "Goodnight Discord. Thank you, this has been one of the best nights of my life." Fluttershy walked away. Discord sat down. "She really does love me." Author's Note When AJ says she didn't know Discord and Fluttershy liked each other, I was making fun of how oblivious she can be.
The QuestionIt had been 1 year. One year since that first date. That was the day everything had changed. Discord was at Fluttershy’s house more than ever. All of their dates were special. Discord would always come up with some original compliment and Fluttershy would laugh, no matter what. Her laugh. Out of all the things he loved about Fluttershy, her laugh was his favorite. It sounded like a tinkling bell, soft and harmonious. They couldn’t possibly be happier. One day, Discord realized something. They could be happier. Now if only he wasn’t such a coward. He had to to do the one thing he never wanted to do. Ask for help. He sighed and snapped his talons, wanting to get it over with. He appeared right behind Starlight, who was staring quite intently at an old scroll. He tapped her on the shoulder. Her head shot up, and she teleported the scroll away. “Oh, it’s you,” she said in a flat, annoyed tone. “Why is it that whenever I come here, you want me to leave?” he said with his trademark grin. “I’m busy,” she grunted. “Well, that’s no excuse to turn away a friend.” Starlight gritted her teeth. She took a deep breath. “Fine. What do you want?” “I was going to ask you if-” “If you should propose to Fluttershy?” she finished with a smirk on her face. “Yeah, I know. Last time you came here, it was about Fluttershy. She’s pretty much all you think about now.” “Well, yes. So should I?” “Why are you asking me?” “Because Lovebutt wouldn’t let me in.” “I don’t blame her,” Starlight muttered. “Look, if you think it’s the right time, then do it.” “Well, how would I know if it is the right time?” he asked worriedly. “You won’t. Just, trust your heart.” “That is ridiculously cheesy,” Discord remarked. “Don’t you dream about your girlfriend?” Starlight countered. “Fair enough. Ta ta!” With that, Discord was gone. The Ponyville Jewelry Shop was closing up. The owner, Pearl Beads, was just wiping down the glass cases when Discord walked in. It wasn’t hard to figure out why he was there.”Hello, Are you looking for a ring for Fluttershy?” “How does everypony know about that?!” “Well, this store is a hotspot for romantic gossip. I hear a lot of ponies talking about their coltfriend, or marefriend, or their friend’s marefriend. Anywho, do you know what you’re looking for?” “Not really.” Discord groaned inside. Great. Just great. I’m about to propose to the love of my life and I have no idea what ring I’m gonna get her, he thought. “Um, the thing is, I don’t exactly have an eye for jewelry.” “No worries! I can help you out with that!” The mare started looking through all the rings. “Now let’s see...” Two hours. Two long, mind-numbing, excruciatingly boring hours. All to pick out an engagement ring. Discord understood the importance of picking out the right one, but he felt like she could have taken a little less time. In the end, he decided on a teal, round cut gemstone with a simple platinum band. Simple yet elegant. Just like her,he thought. Now all he had to do was find the perfect time to tell her. But first, the ring needed a little, personal touch. He snapped his talons and an inscription appeared in the ring. Discord grinned. Now it was perfect. Fluttershy was just about to feed Angel when she heard a loud pop. She looked and saw that the noise came from her mailbox. She giggled. She knew where this was going. She looked inside and opened up the letter. It read, Dear Fluttershy, Please join me tomorrow at our spot at seven for a picnic. Do me a favor and leave the devil, I mean Angel at home. I sincerely hope you know that he is a terror to society. I heard he’s trying to lead an uprising against the mayor. Don’t worry, I’m not going to try to be ‘normal’ again. I have a surprise for you, I think you’ll like it. Love, Discord The letter wrote itself as Fluttershy read it. She laughed. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow. Their dates were always exciting even when Discord wasn’t surprising her. She sighed remembering the warmth of his fur, his jokes, his charming compliments. She was awoken from her blissful daydream by the thumping foot of Angel the Demon Bunny. “Oh Angel, I’m just so in love with him. I don’t know what I’d do without him.” She sighed again. Angel just rolled his eyes. “Oh, sorry Angel!” After feeding Angel, she flopped onto her bed. She looked at the fox plushie Discord made her for Hearth’s Warming the year they met. She grabbed it and drifted off to sleep. Fluttershy leapt out of bed and into her bathroom. She brushed her teeth and showered. She fed all her animals, went to the market to do some shopping, and got home at nine. She heard a knock at her door. She opened it to find Rainbow Dash at her door. “Oh, hi, Rainbow Dash.” “Hey Flutters. Doing anything today?” “I’m meeting Discord at seven.” “Of course you are. You think about him all the time.” “I guess I do. Sometimes I get so lost in daydreaming, I forget to feed the animals! Anyway, what brings you here?” “Nothing, just wanted to say hi. Mind if I stay for a bit?” “No, not at all. Come in.” As Rainbow Dash stepped in, Fluttershy noticed a bandage on her hoof. “What happened to your hoof?” she asked. “Oh, Spitfire got mad when she saw Soarin and I kiss. Apparently she had a crush on him. But I heard after she calmed down and we forgave each other, someone saw her and Lightning Dust blushing at each other.” “Well it’s nice to know both of you are okay. She and Rainbow Dash were sitting down talking about recent events. “Did you know that now, a bunch of other towns have buckball teams? Guess that means we’re gonna be traveling a lot huh?” “I guess so. Hey Rainbow Dash, is it just me, or is it bad that Rarity is dating Trenderhoof?” “Well duh! I mean, he treats her like dirt and she’s still in love with him even though his attitude is terrible! And he never writes to her and he’s always going somewhere! I mean, you travel, but you still spend time with Discord! It’s not right.” “Oh, um, Rainbow Dash sorry to make you leave but, I um, have to leave soon.” “No problem. See ya later!” Rainbow Dash flew out the door. Fluttershy went upstairs and combed her hair a bit more. She grabbed a bottle of perfume off her nightstand. She spritzed some on, adding to the sweet scent of her hair. She flew out her door. It was 6:50. She got there at exactly seven. As she expected, Discord was there. He kissed her on the cheek. She laughed. He hugged her. Discord set her down. “So, what’s new?” “Discord, are you trying to be normal again?” Discord batted his eyelashes. “Now why would I do that? I’m just being innocent. It would be rude to disappear.” He smiled, hoping she’d understand the joke. When she didn’t, he made a face. Fluttershy burst out laughing. “What’s so funny?” “Oh Discord, I was just teasing you. I couldn’t hold it in any longer.” Discord began to laugh too. He picked her up again. “I didn’t expect that, and you didn’t expect this!” He began tickling her, once she was safely on the ground. She laughed uncontrollably, but she began using her wings to tickle him back. As soon as they both calmed down Discord remembered what he needed to do. Suddenly, he didn’t feel so nervous. “Fluttershy?” “Yes Discord?” Discord got down on one knee. “You mean the world to me. Ever since you came into my life, I felt something I had never felt before. You have made me a better draconequus in so many ways. I don’t think I could ever live without you. Fluttershy, will you make me the happiest guy in the universe, and marry me?” He pulled out a box with the ring inside. Fluttershy tackled him in a hug. “Oh Discord yes, a thousand times yes!” He placed the ring, which was on a simple string, around her neck. The couple shared a kiss. Fluttershy leaned against Discord’s chest. “I love you,” she said. “I know,” Discord replied. Fluttershy’s friends’ reaction to her engagement was a lot better than she hoped. Fluttershy and Discord had invited them all to Sugarcube Corner to tell them. “We have some very big news to tell you all,” Fluttershy said excitedly. Starlight, Twilight, Trixie, and Rainbow Dash all smiled. Could it be? “Well, what is it?” Rarity asked curiously. “We’re getting married!” Fluttershy said. Discord had his trademark grin on his face, and he was holding Fluttershy’s hoof. It took a second for everypony to register it, but as soon as they did, they tackled the couple in a hug. “We’re, so so so so so so happy for you!” Pinkie exclaimed. “I call making the wedding cake!” “I’m making dresses!” Rarity announced. Rainbow Dash and Applejack groaned. “What?” “We’re really happy for you guys,” Starlight said as she smiled warmly. “Yeah Dipcord,” Rainbow Dash joked. She and Trixie hoofbumped. Twilight rolled her eyes. This was even crazier than Soarin’s engagement to Rainbow Dash. That’s a story for another time. Anyway, everypony was happy. “Wait, one question. What’s Spike gonna say about all this? I haven’t seen him all week.” “Oh, that reminds me, you’ll never guess what happened,” Twilight said. “Spike grew five inches!” Starlight exclaimed. “No way!” “I don’t believe it!” “How?!” “Oh, and his voice also dropped.” “Well, that explains all the voice cracks,” Rainbow Dash said. “A wedding and Spike hit puberty! This is the most amazing thing to ever happen!” Pinkie said. She stopped to take a deep breath. Yeah okay Pinkie was right, this was probably on the list of the most amazing things to ever happen. “Hey writer! Yes I know what you’re typing! Stop using such informal slang in this story! This isn’t some first person story where you can just talk to the readers! Follow the rules!” “Uh, Pinkie, who are you talking to?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Oh, no one,” she replied cheerfully. Okay I have no clue what just happened. Did Pinkie Pie just yell at me for bad writing? Now I know how Pinkie Tales narrators feel. Anyway, since I don’t want to get yelled at again by a pink horse, forget that whole thing happened. Where were we? Oh right, this was definitely one of the most, um, extraordinary occurrences in the history of the universe. But It wasn’t a bad thing to anyone. Except for one, who was slowly planning her revenge. Author's Note Funny, I used this same title for the first chapter of my worst fic. Things are gonna get really crazy soon, I promise. Then the drama tag will come into play. I loved Discordant Harmony and I got my monthly dose of fluff. Also, anyone spot the Star Wars reference? Assume all events take place after the show is over. I think the story will be finished in about 3 weeks tops.
BONUS: Hearts and Hooves DayAuthor's Note Obligatory Valentine's Day chapter, I may rewrite this at some point. Just for clarity, this takes place in between the last two chapters. I'm rushing to finish this, bear with me. This is just a little short idea I had, and I didn't feel like writing out the date scene. I'll probably make this it's own one shot and put it in more details a little bit later, maybe next year. Also, I ship Rarity x Zephyr Breeze. Don't judge me. And side note, NO, Fluttershy and Discord were not... uh, yeah, my writing is crap, I just want to clear that up... BONUS: Hearts and Hooves Day "Do we have to do this?" Fluttershy asked, wincing as the brush got caught in her mane again. "Come on sis, it's Hearts and Hooves Day, have some fun!" Fluttershy gritted her teeth. "Fun? Zephyr, for me, fun is a nice, quiet date at home, not whatever you and Rarity planned," she replied. As if on cue, Rarity rushed in. "Darling, leaving your hair the way it is would be fine," she said. "Thank you!" "If you were just meeting in the park," Rarity finished. Fluttershy rolled her eyes. "It's the one day of the year when it actually makes sense for Discord to be over the top, who knows what he came up with this time?" Fluttershy gave her friend a deadpan look. "You do realize that you used the words 'Discord' and 'Makes Sense' in the same sentence, right?" Rarity didn't seem to hear her, and went on. "Hair aside, I have about five dresses for you to try on, maybe six. Perhaps we should start with the lavender one..." As Rarity droned on, Fluttershy snuck a glance at the clock. She sighed. This was going to be a long five hours. The pattering and scratching noises of Discord's mismatched feet again the crystal floors was enough to drive Starlight insane. Twilight had a date with some mystery stallion, who, surprisingly, wasn't Flash. That left her to deal with Discord's whining. She looked at him, rolling her eyes. He was a nervous wreck, to the point where he'd created a sizable chasm in the floor, similar to the one Twilight had made in her old home. Finally, Starlight spoke up. "What are you so worried about?" Discord turned around slowly, his eyes even wider than usual. "WHAT AM I SO WORRIED ABOUT?!?!" he screamed. He took a deep breath to calm himself. "It's Hearts and Hooves Day, and I still have no idea what I'm going to do for Fluttershy!" "You seem to have no problem coming up with ideas every other day of the year," Starlight remarked. "This isn't every other day of the year! This has to be special!" "I still don't get what the big deal is," she replied. Discord raised an eyebrow. "I mean, ponies are always saying that Hearts and Hooves dates should be special and magnificent, but shouldn't that be every date? I'm not saying you have to go all out every time, but if you love somepony, every date should feel special. Why just one day of the year?" Discord blinked, unsure of how to respond. He snapped his fingers. "I got it!" Starlight chuckled as he teleported away. "Look out Fluttershy, here comes your coltfriend." Fluttershy sighed as she walked in. Unsurprisingly, she found her brother and Rarity standing right behind the door, ready to ask her a million questions. "What did he do?" "Did he teleport you to the Royal Gardens?" "Did he move the stars to spell out your name?" "Did he take you to that brand new art gallery in Canterlot?" "Well, what happened?" both of them finished. Before Fluttershy had the chance to say anything, Rarity asked another question. She eyed her hair. "What happened to that updo?" she questioned, noticing the loose ponytail hanging at Fluttershy's side. "Sis, what exactly were you guys doing?" Zephyr asked. Fluttershy smiled. "We had a nice, quiet picnic in the park," she answered. "On the one day of the year he's supposed to go all out, he just went to the park with you?" her brother asked. "I mean, Hearts and Hooves Day is special, and-" Fluttershy cut him off. "And it was special. That park was the first place Discord and I went together as friends once he was officially reformed. It meant a lot to me." Zephyr was about to retaliate about how he could have done something more, or how his sister deserved better, but Rarity stopped him. "Well, it may not have been what we expected from Discord, but it was heartfelt nonetheless." Fluttershy gave an appreciative smile and walked up stairs. As she was walking, she turned around. "Rarity?" "Hm?" "Happy Hearts and Hooves Day. And Zephyr?" "Yeah?" "We all know you and Rarity have crushes on each other, stop denying it." And so, without saying anything else, the pegasus walked upstairs, leaving behind the astonished, confused, embarrassed beings known as Rarity and Zephyr Breeze.
The ParkIt was a warm sunny afternoon in the Crystal Empire. Fillies and colts were playing in the streets. Dogs were barking, birds were chirping, flowers were blooming. It was perfect. Fluttershy walked through the park looking for Discord. After going around the entire park Fluttershy still hadn't found him. Where is he? she thought. Did he not think I was coming? Is he in a different form? While Fluttershy asked herself where he could be, she felt somepony tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around, but nopony was there. She felt a tap on the other shoulder. She giggled to herself and facehoofed for not realizing it earlier. She looked up and saw Discord on a tree branch above her. "Discord! I was looking for you for 30 minutes!" "Sorry if I startled you Fluttershy. You know how I do things," "It's alright, I'm fine. How are you?" "Fantastic, as long as you're here," Discord mentally slapped himself for that. Why did I say that?! That sounds so stupid! What if she realizes I like her and stops talking to me?! He shook his head and snapped himself back to the present. He had done all that thinking in about 2 and a half seconds so Fluttershy had just started talking. "Oh Discord, you're so funny," Fluttershy giggled. Discord was so romantic in his own way. He had the most original and charming compliments. "Anyway, why did you invite me here?" "Well, I decided since it was such a lovely day, we should have a picnic here," Discord smiled. That was only part of the reason. He simply wanted to talk to her. Plus, he loved being around her. If he couldn't tell her how he felt then it was at least nice to be around her. "But the beauty of this day cannot even compare to yours," Discord mentally slapped himself again. Come on Discord, play it cool! Fluttershy blushed. On the outside, she looked a little embarrassed but inside she was screaming. Oh my gosh! Does Discord think I'm pretty?! AHH! "Ummm," "Can we pretend I never said that?" "Yeah," The tension in the air was thick. Neither of them said anything. This was much to Discord's dismay as he hated quiet. As if on cue, Starlight and Trixie walked by. Starlight had heard the entire conversation and knew she needed to intervene. She pointed it out to Trixie and she gave her a suggestion. Starlight nodded and cast a spell. "What did you do?" asked Trixie. "They'll forget about anything awkward that happened until their picnic is over," answered Starlight. Fluttershy and Discord began to talk again and acted like nothing ever happened. Starlight smiled. Maybe they would tell each other after all. Author's Note FLUTTERCORD!!!!!!!!! Seriously, though. A few more chapters of fluff and then I'll get serious.
