"Cadance I don't think this is such a good idea." I said as I was being pushed towards Jon's workshop. "I mean he is probably very busy. You know with the whole rebuilding of his armor and all of that." I said trying to stop from being pushed towards the door.

"Nonsense. Jon would love to see you trust me. I am the Princess of Love after all. Now." Cadance said kicking the door to Jon's workshop open before throwing me into the room. "Go get 'em." Cadance closed the doors locking them with her magic.

I slowly got to my feet looking at the door solemnly. "WHAT DID I TELL YOU FUCKS ABOUT KNOCKING!?" I heard Jon boom from his underground laboratory. I gulped as I began making my way down the stairs toward the large amphitheater. "Ow dammit Moon be gentle that's my ribs you are shattering right there." Jon muttered out as I entered the room to see Jon on a table with Moon standing over him performing some weird surgery. I let out a gag As Jon looked over to me. "Oh hey Dash what are you doing down here. I put a sign on the door and everything saying I was not to be disturbed." Jon said as he let out a yelp of pain. "MOON SERIOUSLY! JUST CONNECT THE RELIC THIS DOESN'T FUCKING TICKLE!" Jon roared only for a loud bang to echo out as something on the other side of the room exploded.

"Quit being a baby about this just hold still and it won't hurt... as much." I looked on as Moon lifted Jon's relic of power setting it in his chest. The second the relic was placed and connected to his magic Jon's eyes went wide in shock before he let loose a scream of pain. Jon's entire body glowed a menacing purple before a shock-wave launched off of him throwing everything around him including me against the walls. When I was finally able to clear my head of the cobwebs I saw Jon standing his chest healed up but he was in his Nightmare form breathing heavily.

"Oh this feels really fucking weird. Like every ounce of my being is saturated in magic." Jon closed his eyes as the nightmare receded once again. Jon stood there his eyes closed as his magic moved about the room moving everything around to what it was when I walked in. "This is going to be fun. Now what did you need?" Jon asked as he walked over holding his hand out for me. I seized the hand as I was pulled to my feet.

I fidgeted about trying to think of how to word my question. Jon for his part just stood there a cocked eyebrow his arms crossed. "W-well... I uh. I wanted to ask. If you maybe I don't know. It's just something stupid. Honest let's just drop it." It was impossible to even pitch the question to him. He probably wanted nothing to do with me to begin with. He made it know so long ago. "I'll just see myself out." I turned to walk away when I heard Jon chuckle.

"You know something strange happened when I used the elements that day." Jon said as he went over to his desk moving some papers about before lifting a folder up smiling. "I got to see the old bearers of the elements along with you guys. It was... good to see them once again." He set the folder down opening it going through it's contents. "It made me realize something that I was to blind to see what was right in front of me." I turned walking towards Jon as he spoke. "The death of Bright Heart. The death of my son... It was an accident that could have been avoided if I was there with him. But If I was there... If I was always there with him through every battle and every war. He wouldn't have grown into the man he was. The promise I made to Red was doomed to break when I let him go to war. But." Jon turned another page running his fingers along the page smiling. "A father knows when to let their child leave the nest and their protection. Bright made the choice when he became a soldier and I think it is time I... Let go of the past. Not forget mind you but I think it is time I came to terms with what happened."

I stood there silently listening to what he had to say when he turned around. "I think it is time I moved past this depression and became stronger then ever before." He set his hand over his recently healed chest right where his relic now sat. "Become something I haven't been in a long time." He smiled to me before he reached up wiping my cheek with a thumb. "And it is time I try love again and maybe just maybe I can find someone who can return the love I give them." I smiled as my tears flowed freely. "Now dry those tears and lets go for a joy ride. I don't even care where but let's go raise hell and have some fun." I laughed between my happy sobs nodding my head. "Sweet also do me a favor real quick. Go up the stairs and give them one solid kick. And I mean really give those doors one hell of a kick. They can take it." He whispered as I nodded as we both came up the stairs.

Once we were at the doors I looked to Jon as he nodded. I raised my foot giving the doors a taste of my heel as they swung open violently launching everyone that was gathered at the doors listening in.

"AND THAT'S WHAT YOU FUCKS GET FOR LISTENING IN ON A PRIVATE CONVERSATION!" Jon yelled as I let out a laugh as I saw that all of the princesses were in a heap against the opposite wall. "Now if you will all excuse us. We have a hot date on the town. Come on Dash I bet we can make the town go crazy with the hell we are going to raise." I couldn't help but throw my fist in the air letting out a cheer.

Author's Note

Jon has grown up even if it was just a little bit. Sometime we need to put our trauma behind us and move forward to become stronger than what we once were. It is part of life and sometimes necessary. I am happy that all of you have stuck with my series for so long and hope to see you all again in the next installment Aptly named "Fractured Darkness."
