Long ago, there was a unicorn with a heart blacker than night. A stallion with dark fur and mane; and red eyes filled with hatred. The other ponies were put off by his strange appearance and personality to the point they feared him. As he grew, their prejudice grew as well when he never earned his cutie mark. The ponies tried to be kind to him and he tried to look passed their prejudice; but as the years passed, his anger and hatred grew and consumed him.

He studied and learned the darkest of magical arts; allowing it to poison his mind. As he dug deeper and deeper, he turned into monster; inside and out. He murdered Princess Amore and took over the Crystal Empire, enslaving the crystal ponies and waging war on Equestria. However, he failed to defeat Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, falling to them. The princesses destroyed his physical body and banished what was left in an icy prison. When he returned over a thousand years later, he was destroyed entirely.

But King Sombra always did plan ahead…

Sombra's trump card is in play and Equestria hasn't seen the last of him.
