Harmony Quest: Tale of the Light and Dark

Act 1: The Start of All

          Once upon a time, far, far back in the past, there were only two who ruled the universe, and they were the ones who created it. Perfect twins destined to bring everything they can to the many planets of this big, big dimension. The big sister brought stars everywhere to brighten up the universe. The young brother painted it black, letting the planets and stars by his sister to shine, no matter where they are. They were the god and goddess; they created life, planets, everything.

          And these two important creators, are Flashlight and Darkness.

          The two were close siblings, best friends. They worked together to make the universe perfect. They even played together with the different planets they made. Neither one was more superior, the two had a balance among them. They believed the light and dark had equal power and never had a single fight.

          However, just a single thought can change everything.

          As time went on, the two had different ideas on how the whole universe can be ruled as a whole. Flashlight believed that as long peace, light, and love roamed the planets of the many creatures, it will be easy to rule everything and everyone. But, Darkness thought that power is the way to talk, and only through the races battling, can the universe be ruled by one species only. That way, ruling the universe will be easy.

          As you expect, the two had disagreements on each other's ideas.

          'Everyone deserves equal power, harmony can benefit everyone!' Flashlight said.

          Darkness shook his head. 'Pfft, it will be much easier to rule if there's only one race to look over, this harmony trash is stupid!'

          'Power will damage the balance between our people... It can only lead to disorder! Don't you realize the consequences afterward? Sure, it will be easy to rule, but when they start fighting, that is where it gets bad.' She explained.

          'I don't care about that! You watch, dark magic will help one race become superior, and they will never have to worry about anything from another world from attacking them!' Darkness yelled.

          Flashlight was feeling cross. 'Hey, who's the big sister here?'

          'What? Just because you're the bigger sibling doesn't mean I can't express my feelings and suggestions, right?' He complained. 'You know, I never wanted to believe in this balance junk anyway.'

          Her face went from shock to anger. 'What!? You... don't believe in peace?'

          'Of course, I never did! They gave me this name for a specific reason... So I need to make this dark magic roam...' He replied angrily.

          Flashlight shed a tear, and she looked at her brother with rage.

          'Well, if you don't want to make peace and let us have our balance... I don't want to do this to you, but...'

          He walked to her and pushed against her head. 'Do I look like I regret what I just said? I totally mean it.' He pulled apart his pendant that represented their friendship and tossed it away into the depths of space.

          Flashlight gasped and pushed against him. 'Alright, fine!' She did the same, and the two flew in separate directions.

          And that was the end of their friendship. The two's rage and hatred for the other's decisions have made them completely separated at once. They used their powers to get stronger. They no longer believed in the theory of balance. They wanted to destroy every last bit of their twin counterpart to dust.

          Around a year later, they even engaged in a large-scale battle to see who will rule the entire universe.

          Flashlight just teleported in with a bang, standing up to her brother. Meanwhile, Darkness has come to the fight scene, with his dark purple hair glowing in the space around them.

          'Oh, my brother... I will not fight you here. You must use your powers for good, it is your destiny!' She cried.

          He let out a hmph. 'Do you really think I will give up, just for my sister? There can only be one ruler in this entire dimension... And that person... It will be me!' He fired a laser against her, but she barely dodged it.

          So, the battle between the two has begun. Both sides showed no mercy in their hearts towards the other, hoping to reclaim what is theirs. This fight really determined the fate of everything; It really matters to who wins and who loses. In the end, Darkness had the upper hand.

          'The light shall fall!' He roared, firing the finishing blow on Flashlight, crushing her into pieces, leaving her pummeling down to the land of the Earth.

          '(Evil laugh) Finally... My sister won't bother me anymore! Now... I will make sure dark magic will reign through the land!' He laughed.

          As Flashlight crashed to the Earth's surface, she was in much pain but had one last trick up in her sleeve.

          'I won't lose...' She thought, taking out a golden soul. 'I have saved this precious treasure till now... To the human who is born with this soul... You must avenge me, and defeat the dark. Allow me from the heavens to guide you through... And help me to beat him enough times to bring me back.'

          As she let go of the soul and it disappeared with a spark of magic, Flashlight started praying as she died.

          'To the destined legend... Do not be afraid. No matter what hinders your journeys, I will be there to help you. When in doubt, I will guide you to victory. When you win, I pray you can win again. Help me restore my power to come back to this place... So I can repay your efforts. Good luck...'

          And as she looked at the sky, her eyes closed, and she was gone.
