Harmony Quest: Tale of the Light and Dark
Act 2.6: The Cure
Previous ChapterNext Chapter‘What are these crystals for?’ Frisk asked.
‘These are the cure. However, we need another special potion to activate their magic ability.’ Zebulon explained. ‘Come with me to my home, I will explain more.’
So Frisk followed Zebulon to his home, where he has been in contact with the mayor since he was exiled.
‘The cure has been in development for a long time, but now it is almost ready. However, I need your help to collect this final ingredient for this potion Frisk. That is why I called you here.’ Zebulon told her. He gave her a list of items that show the ingredients of the cure, but they were scrambled.
‘That’s weird… Why are all of these words scrambled?’ Frisk was puzzled.
‘One never knows whether it will fall into the wrong hands, so I needed to make sure no one could easily understand it.’ Zebulon replied.
After Frisk figured out the last ingredient, Zebulon told her, ‘The final ingredient is not displayed on the list. Give me a minute, I’ll show you.’
He took out a small box, with a black seashell. ‘Listen carefully.’ Zebulon warned. The seashell started to sing in a small voice:
‘Go down towards the bay,
And underneath an arching rock,
A little cave you’ll find,
The waves lap in, the waves lap out,
Whipped up by the wind,
A trophy you must bring,
Inside that cave, there lives a crab,
With poison in its sting.
You must bring back that crab alive,
If you would have your cure.
Without fresh poison from its shell,
The cure would have no power,
And anyone who drank a draft,
Would die within the hour.’
Frisk stood there in amazement of the seashell singing. She listened carefully to the song but was unsure what to do.
‘Do I have to get the poison from the crab?’ She asked.
Zebulon opens the door into the night sky and said, ‘The beast comes out to hunt at night. You have work to do.’
During the night, Frisk went out to look for the crab. She went into its cave.
‘I have a flashlight to see in the dark, guess I don’t need your help, Spike.’ Frisk told him, who was hiding in her bag.
‘Maybe you would when we fight the crab,’ He replied.
After walking inside for a little while, she still hasn’t found anything. She walked to a dead end.
‘Is it just me, or have we ran into a dead end 5 times already?’ She thought.
But as she turned around to go back, she heard something in the darkness behind her. The crab woke up from his sleep during the day. It was not as big as the medusa, but it was a bit bigger than Frisk.
‘Who vows to disturb my sleep?’ The crab said.
‘Run!’ Frisk told Spike. They ran as fast as they could to the entrance of the cave. The crab chased them from behind. As they got out of the cave, Frisk pointed her flashlight towards the cave to see if the crab was coming. When the crab saw the light, it let out a deafening scream.
‘I think it is weak against the light!' Spike said.Frisk continued to shine at the crab until it passed out, unconscious.
Zebulon came over to see what's going on. ‘What’s all the racket?’ He said.
‘Apparentl, the crab was weak against light, crabs and I used my flashlight to shine on it and he passed out suddenly.’ She said as her pet Spike was blowing fire into the crab's eyes.
‘Wow, I didn’t know that actually!’ He said smiling. ‘But we now need to get its poison. I have a bottle that can harvest it.’ He put the bottle down below where poison was dripping from its sting and waited patiently. ‘We’re going to have to wait for a while.’ He said.
The next day, he had the poison ready for the potion. ‘I’ll do the brewing; you can go get the ingredients I already have.’ Zebulon told Frisk.
After the potion was almost done, dropped some of the poison into the mix.The purple-colored potion was complete, and ready for the next step.
‘Is this going to be the cure?’ frisk asked.
‘Oh no, it isn't yet, but it will be.’ Zebulon answered.
Zebulon took out the bottles with the crystals and placed it in a circle on the ground. He got the potion in his hand.
‘What is this supposed to be?’ Frisk asked him.
‘I hope this works…’ Zebulon thought.
‘Watch how the crystals react,’ He said, throwing the potion in the center.
The bottle broke and the potion was spilled. But then, something amazing happened: The potion was sucking up some sort of magic from the crystals! The magic was forming a ball in the center and getting bigger.
‘We should slowly back away, Frisk!’ Zebulon told her. They both stepped farther from the ball. Just when they got to a safe distance, it exploded with a loud bang.
‘What happened? There should be something inside, right?’ Frisk thought.
The smoke from the blast started fading and in the smoke, a figure appeared. As the smoke faded she was revealed: Believe it or not, it was actually Twilight Sparkle!
‘Yes! It worked! She is alive again!’ Zebulon exclaimed with joy.
‘Hello? Zebulon is that you?’ Twilight asked.
‘It is me, you’re alive again! The chosen one has finally come to resurrect you!’ He said.
‘Who is she?’ Frisk asked.
‘Ah Frisk, this is the cure I’ve been working on for years!’ He answered.
Zebulon was so proud of himself and was so excited he kept running around the island, oblivious to the other two.
‘Who are you?’ Frisk asked.
‘Thanks for helping to resurrect me, I’m Twilight Sparkle.’ Twilight said. ‘Zebulon said you were the chosen one, named Frisk, correct?’
‘Yes, that is me. But how are you his cure?’ Frisk’s head was filled with questions.
‘I am nicknamed the "Princess of friendship”, I made sure that friendship continues to spread throughout everyone.’ She answered. ‘I may be a pony, but with my spell, I can easily change into a normal human, so people won’t be curious to know more about my kind.’ She further said as she turned into a normal human with a magic spell.
‘You look amazing in both of your forms, Twilight.’ Frisk told her.
Zebulon finally came back over. ‘So Twilight, I have finally brought you here the chosen one.’ He explained.
‘I see, we already got to know each other more. So is she my partner through the rest of the journey?’ She asked.
‘Exactly. However, try your best to not get spotted in your pony form, or else the residents of Britannica may vow to see your kind, and there might be consequences.’ He replied.
‘I think I’m okay with it now. I have been dead for quite a while and in the afterlife, I thought about it a lot after you promised me to resurrect me years later.’ Twilight said courageously.
‘I won’t bother you then. So, Frisk, Twilight will help you fly back to Britannica. Help guide her way back if you can, and the rest is up to you. Find a way to bring Gromiz down, and all of the countries will be saved,’ Zebulon told Frisk.
‘Aren’t you coming with us? You’re the emperor. You can probably help us find Gromiz’s weakness.’ Frisk asked him.
‘I have been waiting for a long time to get these crystals back to full power to resurrect her. Now, I am a bit too old to carry on. You must defeat Gromiz on your own. And promise me: When you defeat him, if I am still alive, please come take me back.’ He answered.
‘I won’t forget about you, and I will take Gromiz down.’ Frisk told him as Twilight is getting ready to fly.
‘Ready for me to help you save everyone?’ Twilight said to Frisk.
‘Ready when you are,’ Frisk answered as she got on her.
And then, Twilight flapped her wings and started the journey back to Britannica.
Back in Britannica, the mayor was reading mail that Zebulon sent to him when suddenly one very special letter popped up.
‘What is this?’ The mayor Gasped.
The letter was about Frisk returning to Britannica, and that she has obtained the secret cure.
‘She is returning soon!?’ The mayor exclaimed in excitement. He went around the country telling all the rebels about the great news. ‘Our savior is finally coming back soon!’ he thought.
However, Gromiz was not happy about the news. While he was in his palace, one of his guards came in nervously.
‘Your majesty, something terrible has just happened.’ He told the king.
‘Spit it out then! I don’t have the time to listen to terrible things!’ Gromiz roared at him.
‘I secretly heard from the others and the mayor, the chosen one is coming back soon!’ he said nervously.
‘What!? Nonsense! The spy from Oban should have taken care of her a long time ago!’ He screamed in a solemn voice.
‘He was caught by some of us, remember?’ The guard said.
‘No! I will not let her destroy my reign! Where’s the general?’ He demanded.
‘Yes, your majesty?’ He rushed over to Gromiz.
‘We need to guard the country against the chosen one. She cannot get back in!’ he said.
‘But you are pretty much the only one that has magic spells, wouldn’t it be easier to take care of her one against one? She has no chance.’ The general said.
‘Well, it’s better to take care of her now before she goes and cures everyone and they have a revolution against us!’ Gromiz yelled.
‘Yes, your majesty!’ He said, walking out of the throne room.
‘Even if she has such a powerful cure, the residents are powerless against my abilities. I will continue to become their ruler, and they will not dare to stop me!’ Gromiz said to himself.
