It's dark.
It's so dark in here.
Where am i?
I'm not safe.
I am not safe here.
Is it a dream?
Wake up.
You can't wake up.
This isn't a dream.
What's your name?
My name?
Yes, what's your name.
I don't... remember.
It's Tim.
...Tim?
Remember that.
I will.
What is this place?
I don't know.
It's really dark, i can't see.
What?
I said it's really dark.
No, be quiet. I heard something.
What is it?
It sounds like...
Beeping.
Nurse Redheart made her way across the corridor, heading to the last door on the right, which happened to be her office.
Today was not a good day for her, a lot of patients that seemed like a lost cause arrived, and were often saved only by pure miracle.
She chuckled a little bit to herself. As a nurse, she thought she would've stopped believing in miracles, being able to see so much death and suffering over her ten years career.
And yet, seeing a filly having her heart punctured with a knife, being able to recover from that? She doesn't know how else could she call that.
No, it was a miracle. A higher power, perhaps even the work of princess Celestia herself.
Once she arrived at the correct door, she opened it and let herself in. Her office was relatively small and very tidy, her desk resting in front of her and being surrounded by numerous cabinets filled with various documents and medicine.
On the desk was lying a small key.
The nurse took the key in her teeth and left the office, heading straight to the door at the very end of this corridor.
It leads to the basement, where most of the archived documents and broken equpiment awaiting repairs are being stored.
A few minutes ago she heard beeping from downstairs, and she was well aware what that noise was.
One of the heart monitors broke yesterday, and instead of checking the heart ratio of the patient near it, it would show results of heart ratios of any living creature in a proximity of fewteen meters.
Nobody was sure how was it even possible, but the machine was stored deep in the basement anyway untill it was repaired... or, at least brought back to normality.
And nurse Redheart just happened to hear beeping from down the basement, which meant one thing.
There was something down there. Something alive.
Nearing the bottom of the stairs, she took the lantern hanging from a wall and lit it, illuminating the darkness of the corridor.
As much as she didn't liked to admit it, the nurse was pretty scared. Even if it were just rats in the basement, it was still not a pleasant situation to deal with. And if it weren't rats...
...She didn't even wanted to think what else could it be.
It's not beeping anymore.
Why did it stopped beeping?
It's dark.
Keep moving.
What's your name?
I'm... Tim?
Are you?
I don't... know.
You must remember.
I... I'm Tim.
Good, remember that.
Keep moving.
I'm tired.
Tired and sleepy.
Is it night?
It's dark, it must be night.
I should go to sleep.
You can't.
Why not?
You don't know where you are.
You must find your home.
Where is my home?
You don't have a home.
Then i can't find my home.
Your home is where your heart is.
What's a heart?
I don't... know.
What's your name?
I'm...
You must remember. What is it?
...I'm Tim.
Good, remember that.
Shhh.
What is it?
I hear something.
Is it beeping?
It's not beeping.
It's... something else.
Should i run?
Should i sleep?
It's so dark, i can't see.
Keep moving.
It was very chilly and dusty down there, which would make sense, since nobody ever really takes his time to clean this place.
It would probably take weeks to clean this place anyway, it's a big maze of corridors running even up to entire kilometers, it's even connected to few basements of ponyville properties, including places such as library, town hall and school.
Light flickered. Something moved in the darkness in front of her.
A soft grunt, followed by a throaty moan filled the air.
And then it showed itself.
A terrifying, tall bipedal creature, wearing torn rags over its body. Mainly hairless, except for a long messy mane and beard.
It seemed starved and confused, but...
It's eyes were glassy, but it's not just that, they were like... eyes of an animal, scanning everything around it, but being unable to recognize anything.
As sapient as it looks like, nurse Redheart was almost sure she was dealing with a wild animal.
Light.
I can see.
It's...
What is it?
I don't know.
It looks dangerous.
I'm scared.
Should i run?
But it brought light.
Is it a demon?
A demon from hell.
Came to kill me.
I must protect myself!
Kill!
Run!
What is this creature?!
What...
...
What is your name?
My name...?
My name is...
...I don't know.
Focus!
I'm...
...
"...I'm Tim." The creature whispered quietly to itself.
The nurse was completely frozen in place. Her mind screamed at her to run, but she couldn't move a muscle, she was stuck in place, on the mercy of this giant.
It moved forward, coming straight towards the nurse, one of it's front limbs reaching for the lantern in her teeth.
She panicked, she had to move right now or it's over. It seemed like time slowed down, each second was minutes long, even hours. Sweat ran down her nuzzle as she tried to move from where she was standing.
Please move.
Just move.
Move!
MOVE!
In a quick motion, she turned around and ran as quickly as her hooves could allow her, trying her best to memorize the way she came, but not being able to pay too much attention to it from sheer panic her mind was going through. She ran and ran and ran untill she saw a door in the distance.
Without thinking much, she rushed in, slammed the door behind her and fell to the ground, breathing heavily and trying to stop herself from crying.
This whole situation was just too overwhelming. And this thing is still down there.
"...Redheart? What are you doing here?"
The nurse lifted her head and saw a pair of purple eyes looking at her in curiosity and concern.
She found herself at the library.
