//-------------------------------------------------------// Dark Vengeance -by Bronyprophet- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter I The Calm Before The Storm //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter I The Calm Before The Storm After the festival that followed the fall of chrysalises’ empire, and a peace was formed between the ponies and the changeling. Things went back to the way they were. After a few years passed Starlight had started to date Thorax, after developing feelings for him through regular association. Eventually she and he fell so deeply in love, that they became husband and wife. Once starlight had married thorax, she became the new Queen of the Changelings. A month passed, since Starlight had become pregnant with a changeling Foal. Today was the day that she would tell her friends, of her current condition. She was really nervous, she did not know how her mentor would react when she found out about her pregnancy, but thankfully Thorax had accompanied her. It had been far too long since they last saw their friends. It had been 6 months since the wedding, and they had been too busy with their kingdom to meet up with their friends sooner, but they were determined to come this time, it was the first ever confirmed pregnancy of a changeling and pony. Starlight chuckled, as she though about Twilight wanting to study her. They soon arrived at Ponyville, and the nerves really hit Starlight Glimmer; she bit her bottom lip anxiously. “Starlight please relax, your friends will be happy for you.” Thorax comforted Starlight, with a reassuring hoof on her shoulder, and a welcoming smile. “I’ll try.” Starlight Smiled, anxiously back. Soon the carriage doors opened, and she was greeted by a burst of confetti, after the confetti settled, standing in front of them was Pinkie Pie with her party cannon. “HI, GUYS ITS BEEN LIKE YEARS, OR IS IT MONTHS, OR MAYBE ITS MONTHS IN YEARS, OR WHAT IF ITS A WEEK, IN A YEAR, AND A YEAR IN A MONTH.” Pinkie shouted in excitement. “You have hardly changed Pinkie. It’s good to see you.” Starlight Commented, hiding her anxieties “When are you going to have your foal? tell me, tell me, tell me. Have you thought of a name yet. Ooo I know, you should name him Solar Flare, you’re going have a colt, I know it. He will have his fathers wings, his mothers horn, and prowess in magic. the same pelt as his fathers,  and his mothers mane and eyes.” Pinkie stated excitedly bouncing on the spot. Starlight and Thoraxs’ jaw dropped in unison. “How did you know about the foal?” Starlight stated with shock. “Because my pinkie sense told me, silly.” Pinkie rolled her eyes. “D-Do the others know?” Starlight replied, unaware of her own trembling nerves. “I haven’t told them, that’s why your here.” Pinkie Pie declared, excitedly. Starlight, Pinkie, and Thorax, continued to walk through Ponyville, waving back to the passing strangers who’d wave them a friendly hello. Amongst the ponies were changeling who would bow briefly to their King and Queen. The small group eventually found there way to Twilights' castle, she knocked on the door and was warmly greeted by Twilight, who embraced both Thorax and Starlight Glimmer warmly. “Come on guys, the girls and Spike are waiting inside.” Twilight said, happily. Once Twilight, Starlight, Pinkie, and Thorax entered the room, they were greeted by there friends and to Starlights’ Dismay, Luna and Celestia had decided to join the get together, which made Starlight even more nervous. Thorax picked up on his mates change in emotion, and smiled at her gingerly, in such away that said that everything was going be alright. Starlight Glimmer sat down beside Twilight, and started to mingle with her friends. Starlight had calmed down now, and she was enjoying herself. She saw that thorax was enjoying himself as well, she also noticed That thorax and Spike, started a game of ogres and oubliettes, whilst the girls chatted. Rainbow Dash noticed this, and excused herself to join in on the game. Earning a chuckle, from Starlight and the other girls. “Spike, Girls, I have an announcement.” Starlight declared. This caused the group to direct there attention to Starlight, it also caused Spike, Thorax, and Rainbow Dash to stop playing their game. Thorax walked over to Starlight, and reassured her with a smile. “I-I am going to have a foal.” Starlight declared, in a nervous tone. “Well here we go, now you will see if you’re hated, or congratulated.” Starlight thought to herself. However, the reaction was different. Thorax had been right, they were happy for her, they had congratulated her. Luna even insisted on throwing a party for her the next day. While Starlight and Thorax were being reunited with their friends’, an old enemy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXCCs7U_1DE) had been watching them with her magic. She had watched through the years, waiting for her moment to strike. She had become scorned by the ages, tainted with revenge and malice. Chrysalis had waited longingly for the day she would take her revenge, and she was rewarded for her patience with a way to enact her revenge. Starlight had conceived a foal with thorax, it would be her first foal, and the exact moment chrysalis had been waiting for. When this moment presented itself, she knew it was a sign that her time had come to return with her knew mate. She met her mate in the corner of the crystal Empire, it was in a canyon of ice, and snow, the wind would howl evilly when it blew through. It was the perfect environment for her. When she ran away from the group that crushed her empire, she hid in this place, this is also where she met her mate. He was a weakened Unicorn; When she saw him. He had been wearing a kingly red cape, with a venomous pair of red and green eyes, surrounded by a purple aura. Sombra and Chrysalis would talk endlessly through the night, and soon they fell for each other, She agreed to become his mate, and he also agreed to become hers. The two found that they were the perfect couple. They were a couple with a common goal, revenge. Sombra wanted revenge on Twilight and Spike, Chrysalis wanted Starlight to pay dearly, and they would ensure that it became a reality. Chrysalis had told him about the good news. She told him that a chance had presented itself for their revenge. Sombra became extremely elated, and they had started planning their strategy. Once they decided on their point of attack, they set another plan into action as well. After they would take there revenge, they would set there sights to Equestria. The next step of the plan was to take over Equestria, and Become the new rulers by defeating last remaining three Alicorns in existence, driving the Alicorn race to extinction, though age did not affect them, Alicorns could still die by other means. That was their goal, and they wouldn’t stop till they achieved that objective. A darkness was coming, and soon this very darkness would consume Equestria. Chrysalis saw the jubilation and celebratory shouts of Starlights' friends. “So she told them. Enjoy your party Starlight, because it will be your last.” Chrysalis purred evilly, before nuzzling into Sombra. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter II A New Prince //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter II A New Prince As the months went on, Starlights’ pregnancy became more noticeable, she had rounded nicely, and much to the dismay of Thorax, her cravings had started. He would have to dart out in the middle of the night, to pick up the strangest things. Starlights pregnancy had been going on a natural path, there were no real problems with her pregnancy. Pinkie had been correct, she was going to have a colt. The colt had been healthy, and strong. Though the only name she could think of was Solar Flare, which reminded her of Pinkie Pie. Pinkie had piqued her curiosity, how did Pinkie always know so much about everything? Starlight disregarded her curiosity, knowing that she had other thing to worry about. After all she was running a kingdom. Even though it was mainly looking after the school that Thorax and her had decided to build to teach new changelings about giving love, and not taking it. Starlight had thought Cadence would have been a better teacher, being the princess of love, but she had managed to do a fine job with the young changelings. Though on occasion she’d get cadence, to give special lessons in love. Thorax and Starlights’ empire had been thriving, thankfully they had no rival to contest their rule. Though soon the light Thorax and Starlight shared, would be tested and corrupted by the wills of darkness. Another 5 months pass... Starlight had been on her last month of pregnancy, the anticipation had been high. Many were curious as to what the changeling foal would look like, with both changeling blood, and pony blood, coursing through its’ veins. The one who was the most curious, had been Twilight. Starlight had no need to go to doctors, because once Starlight broke the news to Twilight, Twilight had practically moved into Starlight and Thoraxs’ castle; so she could a keep a close eye on the progression her students pregnancy. Twilight had managed to write 6 tomes of archived research, just on the pregnancy itself. Starlight Wondered how many more tomes she’d write when the foal was born. At first, the endless poking and prodding from Twilight was annoying for Starlight, but she eventually got use to it, and ignored it. Twilight would do her routine check up every other day she wasn't solving a friendship problem. Meanwhile, while Starlights pregnancy was relevantly natural something far more sinister was going on behind closed doors. Chrysalis and Sombra had been forging a dark crystal, similar to the one Sombra had created in an attempt to reach immortality. This story goes back to a time when Sombra was not a tyrant, but a good and honourable king, that would always put his ponies first, and his desires last. 1000 Years ago… In a time of peace, Two pony nations spanning from sea to sea, formed an alliance. At first it started as a trade treaty. The Crystal Empire would sell the most fantastic gems known to pony kind. All would come to see this fabled beautiful city in the snow, with their own eyes. The visitors of the city, would be welcomed warmly by King Sombra. The relationship Luna and Celestia shared with their neighbour to the north, eventually matured into a full diplomatic alliance. As was the custom in that time period, they would physically venture to their new ally, to see how their kingdom was going. In an effort to see if they could assist in anyway. When they arrived at the kingdom they were amazed. “The land in the north is so beautiful and at rest. Why did we wait so long, to travel to see it?” Luna Inquired of her sister. “yes, it’s Quite Overdue, but now we are making history. To draw much closer ties, and join our ponies as they’re meant to be.” Celestia Answered her sister, pleasantly. It wasn't too long, before the king came to greet them warmly. “Hello, my warmest welcome to you my dears, I hope a safe travel brought you here. Come feast your eyes, there is so much to see, of our oasis in the snow. From the shining crystal peaks, right to the frozen ground below.” Sombra gestured warmly. “My lord you are much to kind, there is no need to go through such fanfare. You clearly rule with acumen and care.” Celestia humbly replied, to Sombra. “We have only just arrived, I am sure there is more to see, in this beautiful place amongst the snow. Please lead on, oh gracious king, and acquaint us with your kingdoms’ majesty!” Luna commented with curiosity and excitement in her voice. “Why not!? It’s time to celebrate! Today we’re joining together to commemorate, our unity. Our future will surely be guilt in gold, forged amongst winters snow.” Sombra stated with jubilation. Shortly after the two princesses were welcomed with open hooves, a festival was held to commemorate the joining of the two nations. This day would mark one of the happiest times the two nations shared. However it would not last forever, but for the time being, it was a time of happiness and romance. Through the many visits, and diplomatic meetings, through the means of a looking glass. Sombra and Luna had started developing an emotional attachment to each other. Though its was nice to see Sombra through a looking glass, she wanted to speak with him in person. This was made possible, through the annual diplomatic meeting that would be held at the start of the year. This specific meeting was the only one done, in a pony to pony manner. It was mainly to discuss treaties, and report any military efforts, that had been made in the previous year. After the meeting, Sombra and Luna walked through the moonlit haven of ice and snow, with all of its’ peaceful bliss. What Luna loved about this land of snow and ice, was how her moonlight would dance across the icy mountains peaks; casting a beautiful turquoise sheen, giving it both a romantic and colourful appearance. 'Twas as if the moon, and the ice, were performing a fantastic dance, for Luna and Sombras’ eyes only. “Finally we end a long and busy day, Let the moonrise slumber all the world away. Watch the colours dance over the landscape, what a beautiful display over this vast and beautiful land, that you call your own. Now for once I don’t feel alone, through all the pain and strife on the crossroads of life. We’ve finally met to make the journey side by side.” Luna said feeling safe, and comfortable, by Sombras’ side. “After all this time through the long and distant years, finally fate has brought us here. No more royal talks, or visiting through the looking glasses. Soon ill hold you tightly in my arms, through all the pain and strife, on the crossroads of life. As all the world is right, our future is shinning bright, the heavens waltz in the auroras of the night.” Sombra replied lovingly to Luna. After that one night, Luna paid many more visits to king Sombra, and their relationship grew as the years flew passed, with fleeting speed. 4 years had passed now, and their relationship had prospered unbeknownst to Lunas’ sister, but the time would soon come, when Luna would tell her dear sister of her love, and expect her approval. But little did Luna know, that Celestia had known about their relationship, and had been just playing ignorant, waiting until her sister felt ready to tell her; just like the good sister would. “So much to do, a wedding to muse!” Luna stated with excitement and eagerness “I’ll Talk to you soon, once I break the news.” Luna continued with anticipation in her tone. “Go and take your time, my lovely future bride. Soon we will make the journey of life side by side.” Sombra replied with contentment, and anticipation of his new life, with the mare of his dreams. Luna began to head back to Canterlot to break the news to her sister. She had a skip to her step, and a smile as wide as the Cheshire moon. But it wouldn't be as she  expected it to be, for her sister had different thoughts on their relationship, but little did Celestia know of how deep their love ran, and how her lack of knowledge, would mean the epilogue of our far tale. “Tia, have the greatest of news for you, I’m going to be getting married to king Sombra.” Luna stated with anticipation and excitement. “Luna, come sit here, it has become quite clear, you’ve let your heart grow too fond,” Celestia stated, in a deadpan tone. “How can you say this, Don’t we deserve bliss? is it such a crime to share a bond?” Luna Inquired, on the verge of tears. “You know, that is not the way.” Celestia said, with emphasis. “Can we never love, can we never disobey?!” Luna argued, with tears in her eyes. She could feel her heart breaking in two. “Your duty takes priority.” Celestia Stated, bluntly. Celestia did not want to be hard on her sister, but she knew the curse of immortality would become to hard for her dear sister to bare, if she allowed her sister to wed. “But he is a king, the same royalty!” Luna argued in tears. “But he is bound by his mortality.” Celestia refuted, in the same deadpan tone. “That doesn't matter... at least not to me!” Luna argued, feeling powerless against her sisters logic. “But it will, you must know, heavy is the crown we wear.” Celestia reasoned with her sister. “Why must it be, the burden I bare.” Luna asked her sister, knowing that her heart had shattered, and could never be healed. “Please sister of mine, stop this! Or else it will break your heart.” Celestia pleaded, seeing the pain she had put her sister through. “How can I live, with a broken heart?!” Luna asked her sister once again, as all of her dreams, and hopes, were dashed before her. After Lunas sobering conversation, ended. She started her travel to the distant land with a heavy heart, knowing that she could never find happiness or start a life. Her rule was her life, she would have to watch as yeas passed by, and her friends circum to the toll of time.  As is the price, of immortality. Once she made it to the crystal empire, she sighed a sigh of sorrow, knowing what she had come to do. “Hello my dear, I thought you had gone?” Sombra Inquired, at her hasty return. “Yes I did, but now we need to talk.” Luna said filled with a sense of loss. “I have been thinking, and my heart’s been sinking and… I-I don’t think we can go on.” Luna continued, trying to maintain her composure. “What are you saying? You must be playing… what could have changed, what did I do wrong?” Sombra replied confusedly. “Please... you do not share the blame.” Luna said, slowly loosing her composure. “Tell me your wrong, tell me that we're still the same.” Sombra replied, as he felt his heart start to crack, like a lake of thin ice. “It’s already killing me.” Luna stated, as she felt a fresh wave of tears build up. “Or was it the Queen, your dear sisters decree?” Sombra stated, as his anger grew hot towards Celestia, as he put two and two together. “I’ll have to watch you grow old and grey.” Luna said as she began to cry, knowing what she said was true. “I don’t have to die, there still might be away.” Sombra replied, as found renewed hope. “But you will, and I cant possibly bare the thought of loosing you to time.” Luna said, as she started to weep, and cry, thinking of the sacrifices she must make, for the crown she wore. “Why discard the life we could share? Why must we flee before all eternity?” Sombra reasoned, loosing all sense of hope. “I wish we could be together, but I’d be left to grieve for eternity, and that I could not possibly bare. Please my love you must understand. This is the cost, the burden I must bare.” Luna replied, loosing herself to destitution and solitude. “At any cost, I’ll take it and bare.” Sombra said, as his heart shattered completely. “Sombra... please... you have to let me go.” Luna stated, as she burst into tears. “Luna I’ll never let you go.” Sombra replied, trying to grasp at any remnant of hope. “It has to be this way!” Luna stated with the most authority she could muster, but it only sounded like a whimper, before she turned around and raced out of the room in tears, silent and destitute. “LUNA, DON’T GO…!” Sombra shouted, trying to get Luna to stop, but she was already gone. He fell to the ground with sorrow, wondering what he should do. He had lost his beloved, and apart of him vanished with her. Sombra sat there for quite some time, as his spirit started to malign, it gradually ravaged his mind, which started to twist and unwind, the dark decent had begun. The hours became days, and the days became weeks, he grew ever darker each day. When an idea came to him, and he knew it would be the only way. Sombra fell so deeply into the pit of darkness, that he had gone to the most ancient tomes in the crystal library. He delved in dark magic, forming a great and powerful amulet. But with dark magic, the price was great. For him to achieve his desires, he would loose his kindness, compassion, and he’d have to sacrifice the happiness of his ponies, leaving nothing other then fear in its wake. He was bent on revenge, It had portrayed his every thought. Sombra started to recite his wicked spell, on an onyx gemstone, willing to win Lunas’ love, at any cost, with any sacrifice he must make, even if it meant he’d cross the sun. “Oh jewel of the night, the giver of life, grant me dominion o’er the light.” Soon after Sombra recited these words, the onyx gem stone hovered, and gleamed in a sickly green, binding itself to sombras’ body giving him wings of onyx, the power of darkness, and turning him into an Alicorn; but at a cost. Sombra lost himself this day, completing his transition into the darkness. Casting his once prosperous City into a hellish nightmare, devoid of love, and compassion. He’d become a tyrant, and a blight to the land, through the use, of the dark arts. Present Day… The Crystal had been nearing its completion, and the dark spell attuned to the onyx gemstone. It was now time for the spell to be cast on the stone. Sombra and Chrysalis started to recite the spell together. “Oh jewel of the night, the giver of life, grant me dominion o’er the light.” the crystal started to hover, and glow the same sickly green as Sombras’ did all those years ago, but this time it found a new host, it made chrysalis into its host, granting her a different power. it turned the words she spoke into words of power. Anything she would say, with intent would turn into a spell, and do as the she intended them to do. Starlight had been in the middle of a class, when she suddenly felt a shooting pain down her spine and towards her rear, then she heard a light splash of water. Starlights’ Water had broken. Twilight had given Starlight a specially enchanted necklace closer to her due date, to alert her of when her student went into labour, so she could teleport her to the Canterlot hospital within seconds of the water breaking, as a precaution. Just as well she did, because the necklace started to ring in Twilights ear. Shortly after the necklace started ringing, Twilight suddenly teleported to where Starlight was. After she made it to Starlight, she then teleported them both to the hospital, where the staff immediately took starlight, to the birthing ward. Once Starlight was in safe hands, Twilight teleported to where Thorax was, and then teleported them both to the hospital as well. After all of the teleporting Twilight did, she collapsed onto the ground, exhausted from the use of the long distance teleportation spell. She thought to herself. “Never do that again!” 8 hours later… The doctor came into the waiting room, and told Starlights mate, and Twilight, that she had a natural birth. After a few more moments, The same doctor came back and told them that they may see her, and the foal now. Pinkie had been right to the finest detail. The young colt had his mothers mane, tail, horn and eyes, with his fathers pelt, however the wings had been different, they had been orange and looked like pegasi wings. When Twilight entered the room she was shocked, he did not resemble a changeling or a unicorn, but an Alicorn. Twilight had no doubt that it was Starlight and Throaxs’ colt; it matched them so perfectly. But an Alicorn, how was it even possible. The only conclusion she could come to, was that because of Starlights powerful affinity to magic, and Thoraxs’ strange magic, when combined together allowed an Alicorn to be born, from the combination. After all, no pony really understood, how changeling magic worked. But with this Alicorn being male, it could mean that the race of Alicorns would not end, and more could be born. Twilight did not wast anytime sending a fire message to Celestia, about the latest news, and the birth of a new prince.
