The Perfect Kiss
The Perfect Kiss
Load Full Story"Was it this card that you picked?" the azure magician proudly smiled, displaying the Ace of Clubs card on front of her which was adorned on her magenta colored magic aura.
"I don't think so," I said, my eyes being filled with bewilderment as I looked at the card.
"Uh . . . was it this one?" she pulled the card to the end of the deck with her telekinetic grasp, displaying the next card, the Ace of Hearts.
"Yes, it was this one," I laid a hoof over my mouth, attempting to hold back a soft chuckle.
Trixie smiled nervously, her pride dissipating as she placed the cards over the table sitting beside us.
"Any more tricks you want to show me?" I asked, smiling brightly.
"Of course. I always have tricks up my sleeve –" she motioned with her hoof for me to pick up the deck of cards "– I’ll need a volunteer for this trick though,” she winked, a smirk embellishing her semblance.
"I’d love to. Not that the rest of the audience wouldn’t," I rose a couple of Trixie dolls that were situated by a bed table into the air, moving them up and down as I chanted "Trixie."
We both chuckled, our laughter chastely beautifying the silent air of Trixie’s humble wagon. I thought that I couldn't have wished for a more pleasant time as I placed the dolls over the nightstand, where they were before.
"Well, what do I have to do?" I asked, levitating the deck with my turquoise colored magic aura.
"Move over several cards from the right side to the left side by my back. And don’t forget to count down the number of cards you moved," she looked up, grandiosely.
"All right," I perked up, walking behind Trixie in a calm demeanor.
I moved the cards from the right side to the left side with my unicorn magic as Trixie requested, counting down how many cards I moved.
"Are you done, Starlight?" the illusionist asked, her pride showing on her voice, once more. However, ‘prideful’ was probably not the right word to describe her at the time. Perhaps ‘confident’ would suit her best at that particular moment. And trust me, I know how Trixie acts when she’s proud.
"Yes, I am," I declared.
I was already used to this. I’m Trixie’s frequent volunteer and assistant, a task that I highly enjoy. For me, it’s rather delightful to see Trixie performing her magical tricks with such enthusiasm. It’s quite charming, in a dainty way.
Trixie turned about. She waved her hoof at the cards, and turned over one of them with her telekinesis. The card she picked was the Eight of Diamonds.
"You moved the cards eight times,” Trixie grinned, in certainty that she was right.
"I did. How did you know that?" I inquired, laying the cards back at the table.
"Magic," she smiled, not nervously, but with assurance this time.
I’m certain I must’ve looked more pleased than ever before. The smile on my face, it always stays in place when both of us go out together. What made this night even more special, though, is that this was our very first dinner together.
Well, it could be called a ‘date’, really. I mean, Trixie even set candles by the dinner table.
It was in this same train of thought that I remembered I had brought something for Trixie. Something that I should’ve given her a long time ago, something that contained the truth. A simple letter, but the writings from within were sincere.
"Oh, I almost forgot! I brought you something, Trixie," I started to search for the gift I brought for Trixie inside of my saddlebag that was hanging by the side of my chair.
"Oh?" she turned her head to her side and curiously observed as I seeked to find the gift.
The soft touch of paper could be felt on my hoof as I pictured in my mind how Trixie would have reacted if I gave her the letter. It was likely she did not feel the same way, so the only thing that I envisioned was Trixie stating she did not share the feelings that I have for her, and me being left sorrowful and regretful for ever deciding to tell her truth. I did not want that to happen, so I decided to give her something else. The mere thought of being put down by her made me tremble.
"Here i-it is! I-I hope y-you like it," I declared, stuttering a bit as I removed my hoof from inside the saddlebag and displayed what I was holding: a bag of peanut butter crackers. I was planning to give this along with the letter since I knew she admired the taste of these, but I couldn’t give her the letter. I simply couldn’t.
"Thank you, Starlight," she cheerfully yet somewhat confusedly picked the bag up, then unpacked it and took the bar to her mouth, taking a chunk of it out with a small bite and moaning in delight as she chewed it.
"Did y-you like it?" I asked haltingly, as it was my turn to smile nervously this time.
Trixie nodded, serenely and entertainly eating the snack that she’s so fond of.
After she finished eating, she stood up and walked to her couch, resting down in a seated position. She motioned with her hoof for me to sit down with her on the couch, which I did. When I situated by her side however, she layed down, her head resting over my lap. I blushed slightly as I ran my hoof through her pale, cornflower blue mane.
"I... uhm… think you… uh, have… an…er ah.... acceptable… erm-- uh, mane,” I evasively uttered, tumbling upon my words in an awkward manner, to which Trixie responded with a giggle.
All the while, nothing but silence after that, none of us daring to say anything.
"Do you think wishes can come true, Starlight?" Trixie asked, watching the starry skies outside through her window.
"I do,” I answered, unsure to what was the purpose of the question.
"I hope so," Trixie continued, getting upright.
"Trixie, I…” I tried to say.
"Shh…" she placed a hoof over my mouth, smiling as she stared upon my eyes. As she took her hoof away, she kissed me in my lips rapidly. I was too surprised to do anything but blush hard, my face most likely resembling a cherry.
After she did that, she glared downwards melancholically. I knew what she was thinking, so I placed my hoof under her chin and lifted her head up.
"I have something to show you," I said as I levitated the letter that could be found inside of my saddlebag and moved it to Trixie. She picked it up, opened it with her magic and started to read it.
She chuckled a bit as she was reading it, but when she finished interpreting the note a sincere and pure smile trimmed her figure.
"I had always been rejected… I could never imagine you--" she begun saying.
"Shh..." I claimed for silence as I placed my head against hers, our noses and foreheads touching. She picked up her magician hat and placed it over both of us.
Our adoration to each other compelled us to stay like that for minutes. The soft breathing filled with absolute affection, the warmth we were sharing with each other… I had never felt so good, so delighted before. We kissed, not through touching our lips, but through our appreciation, through our strong emotions. And that kiss, was the perfect kiss.
