Gods. Such a diverse bunch. With each one ruling over a different universe, they were similar, yet much different.
Now some of you may be thinking something about the Multiverse theory at this point, which isn't entirely wrong. It's just a bit.....different, than one might think.
Rather than there being an infinite number of universes created through the choices mortals made, there were a set amount. While still a very large number, it wasn't close to the endless spectrum of infinity.
All these different gods and goddesses created an individual universe to their own liking. Some created trillions of different planets and galaxies with mortal lifeforms, while others created only a single one. Some gods interacted with mortals, and others just chose to watch. While those traits may have been different between them, they almost all shared the same interest.
To create. To observe. And to learn.
And honestly....
It gets rather boring after a while.
Sure, it was fun for the first while, but after you watch an entire species work it's way up to also diety like power, what's left?
So, a favoured hobby among gods was to visit their neighbours, observe the creations of others, and even just relax with their fellow gods.
Like a certain group of six, who were currently enjoying a nice evening at a shawarma restaurant.
The restaurant itself didn't seem to have any employees, or even anybody else aside from the gods themselves.
"So-" A particular God who took the form of a simple, young, humanoid figure dressed in causal wear began, his mouth still half full with food. "Anything interesting going on in your little universe Lauren?" He asked to a certain horse God across the table.
The horse god in mention had a radiant while coat, along with wings and a horn do the same colour. She was tall, and dawned a reddish-brown mane.
"Aside from a new Alicorn, nothing worth mentioning." She responded formally. She was one of the few who focused on a single world rather than many.
"Ooooh! A new horsey like you?" A very childish sounding voice came from the seat next to her. The curious and playful eyes of Zen-Oh peering up at her. He was dressed in his usual godly wear, as he never wore anything else. His small kids sized meal sat in front of him, barely touched.
Lauren chuckled softly at the child-gods tone. "Yes. One like me." She informed.
"Rather dangerous ain't it? You've givin all that power to a number of mortals now." Another male voice spoke up. It came form a small, white dog that sat in his own seat, hungrily nipping at his own shawarma.
"You're one to talk Toby, letting a child mess with time." She countered.
Toby's little dog shoulders shrugged. "Fair point."
"In his defence, all that raw psychic ability you've given to those there few Alicorns could easily mess with time." A second humanoid man said. He appeared to be quite old. Though that was just his form of appearance, as gods didn't really age.
Lauren took that into consideration. "Fair point." She mimicked Tony's earlier tone.
"Give it a rest Alex, we've all got some folks messing with time in our universes." The younger man known as Dan pointed out as he looked at the older one. "Hell, you've created a few of those 'Pokémon' creatures that literally manipulate time." He judged.
The Alex shrugged. "I never said it was a bad thing. All that psychic power provides good protection around that world." He pointed out.
"'Tis true." Toby pointed out. "Kid makes mistake, goes back, fixes said mistake." He referenced a certain child from his personal favourite world. "I'm just glad he's responsible with it." The fluffy dog said happily.
An idea sprung into the mind of Dan. "Say, we've all got some of these super, physic powered and potential filled mortals in our universes right?" He asked to the others.
He received a chorus of nods and mummers in return, which solidified his idea.
"Then I propose a little experiment. We all take any magical or psychic being from our universe, and stick them all together in one spot." He explained.
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Like, on an island?"
Dan waved a hand dismissively. "Nah. I mean like, in one of our universes. Preferably on one of the main worlds."
The others whispered and talked to each other, discussing the idea. The first person to speak up was Zen-Oh
"That sounds fun!" He said enthusiastically.
Lauren nodded in agreement. "Things have been getting rather dull lately." She mused. "But, what if they attack each other? Out of fear, or panic?" She'd much rather not have them murder each other.
"Simple. We stick them in your friendshippy horse land, and give them a small explanation of what's going on." Toby said as stuck a little plan together. "That way they'll at least be slightly less aggravated. Don't blame me if one goes all 'attack' mode on the locals though."
Lauren nodded once again. She understood why her world would be a desirable one for the experiment. It was hard to hate people around there. Except maybe in some do the newer settlements.
"So it's settled. We'll take a couple days to pick out somebody of our choosing. Does 3 days sound good?" Alex asked, receiving a line of nods and muttered agreement.
One by one, the gods fled the small restaurant, vanishing off to their respective universe. The only one who remained was Lauren, her wings fluttering lightly with anticipation.
She could hardly wait. Something new would be a nice change of pace.
