Aperitif: A New Quest, Welcome to the Gourmet Age
Twilight held her breath, Tirek currently had the power of all of Equestria's ponies, including all 4 alicorns and Discord. Thier only hope lay in whatever was inside the box the Tree of Harmony gave them, which they had currently just discovered the keys to. Looking at her friends, she saw that they were just as nervous as her. If this didn't work, they were officially out of options.
As one, they inserted their keys, and turned them.
And everything went white.
Twilight opened her eyes, the cavern of the Tree of Harmony had disappeared, and in it's place was an extravagant looking dining room. "Where are we?" she asked.
"I dunno Twi," said Applejack, "but it sure aint what I was expectin'."
Before anyone else could say anything, a door they hadn't noticed at the far end opened and a tall white alicorn mare with a red mane walked through, carrying a silver covered serving tray in her magic. "Oh," she said, "you're here. Well I suppose that's to be expected, what with Tirek causing trouble and all."
"And who are you miss?" Rainbow Dash asked somewhat(okay, quite) brusquely, "and where the hay are we?"
"Hmm? Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, you may call me Faust," she said as she set down the dish, "and this is my dining room, please make yourselves comfortable."
The Mane 6's collective jaws dropped, standing there was the most revered figure in all of Equestria, even including the Diarchs, Faust the world-author, chief deity of their religion, and all appearances indicated that they were going to have lunch with her.
"Um... hi," said Twilight, still stunned.
"Oh don't stand on ceremony on my account," Faust said, "and for goodness sake don't grovel, if there's one thing I can't stand it's ponies groveling."
"I understood that reference," said Pinkie Pie, causing the others to stare.
"And I understood that one," Faust replied.
Suddenly, Twilight snapped out of her stupor, "Ms. Faust..."
"Just Faust please, I know I'm as old as creation, but I don't like being called old."
"You and me both," Rarity said under her breath.
"Well, anyway Faust," Twilight continued, "are you here to help us defeat Tirek?"
"Unfortunately no," Faust replied sadly, "there are rules in place, older than even I, that prevent me from interfering directly."
"So, does that mean Tirek won?" Fluttershy asked softly, tears in her eyes.
"Not just yet," Faust replied, "note that I said, directly."
"So are you going to give us some awesome power or something to kick his flank with?" Rainbow asked, anticipation in her eyes.
"That was the plan," Faust replied, "unfortunately there is a chance that Tirek will be able to absorb it as well. Luckily, I have a backup plan."
"And what might that be?" asked Applejack.
"You're going to have to go to another world to gain a power not native to Equestria," Faust replied, "Something other than magic."
"Another world?" asked Twilight, "you mean like Canterlot High?"
"Sort of, the world I'm sending you to is somewhat different, more dangerous, but also more delicious." Faust licked her lips, "I'm somewhat jealous actually."
"Delicious?" they all wondered aloud.
"You'll see when you get there," Faust said simply, "now, before you go, here's one last thing you'll need."
Faust raised the lid of the serving dish, revealing a globe of water floating in mid-air. Suspended within was a golden jellyfish.
Faust clapped her front hooves together and bowed her head, "I give humble thanks for the gifts you provide." At her words, the jellyfish glowed with a soft light. Then, with a sharp wave of her hoof, the top of the jellyfish was sliced off and divided into 6 pieces, before immediately regenerating.
"What was that about?" asked Dash.
"This is the power you'll need to cultivate in order to defeat Tirek," Faust said as the 6 pieces shot towards the Mane 6 and entered them, "no time will pass between now and when you return, but you'll need to taste of God first."
They tried to ask what she meant, but before they could an intense pain shot through their bodies, rendering them incapable of speech. The floor beneath them turned transparent, showing a planet quite different than the one they called home, which they suddenly dropped down to.
"Good luck," Faust said, "my little Gourmet Hunters."
Twilight groaned as she regained consciousness. As she opened her eyes, she saw that she was in the middle of some sort of forest.
'At least I'm still alive' she thought to herself before hearing something behind her. Turning around, she found herself looking at massive predatory cat who, based on the look in its eyes, was currently considering Twilight to be its next meal.
'Then again, maybe not

Twilight has awakened in a strange new world where the only law is that of preditor and prey. Can she find a way to survive? Perhaps with the aid of a few new friends she might be able to.
