Soft taps of rain hit the small makeshift roof of Scootaloo’s “new” home. Ever since the murder of her parents had dropped her spirits and will to move on; she had sunk into bitterness, usually hating everything, and everyone she saw, but still felt fear in her heart. A small trickle of the rainwater hit the tip of her muzzle, and she flinched, jumping back just merely a few centimeters deeper into her little home. Scootaloo’s recent nightmares over that murder becomes worse every night, a new explicit detail is introduced, and it becomes even more clear and gory as she remembered the night it happened.
She was just in the Living room with her parents, her father reading one of his favorite books and her mother knitting. Suddenly, a loud shatter of glass from the window just near Scootaloo, her mother suddenly screaming from the sudden loud noise. Two ponies jump in through the shattered window. One, was a Large stallion earth pony with a brownish coat, however he worse a Ski mask and it seemed he wore some sort of cloth around his cutie mark. The other was also stallion that looked the same, except he had a gray coat and was a unicorn carrying what seemed to be an old rifle.
“Shut the hell up and get on the ground”, came the raspy voice from the larger stallion.
Her father, slowly nodded and urged his wife and daughter to slowly lie on the floor and cover their heads. The largest stallion watched over them while his accomplice is gathering anything valuable in the house. Getting bored, the large one lifted Scootaloo’s mother,
“Well ain't this one a cutie” he said. “I think I'll play with her”.
She is lifted up showing a face of melancholy as she knows that her daughter can see the horror of what will happen to her own mother. The large stallion turns her around and he roughly places the tip of his cock at her pussy. She stood there expecting the worst to happen, when suddenly, her husband jumps up and screams
“GET AWAY FROM HER!” Lunging to the large stallion, wings flared out to boost his speed in the air.
Unexpecting the attack, he closed his eyes and awaited the blow. It never came, instead a loud explosion was heard along with a loud thump; Everypony slowly opens their eyes. Scootaloo’s father’s head had been removed from his shoulders, almost disintegrated and instead of crashing right into the target he was practically cut off , his body flew to the side and crashed into the table next to the big pony. The larger stallion turned to see his partner holding a gun pointed right where the father once stood. Her mother never saw it coming. She screamed in absolute horror. Scootaloo looked up to see what happened to her father, her heart almost stopped right then and there.
She had never seen a pony die in her life, and there lies her father, his head was missing and blood was all over the floor. Her memory ends when she watches her mother get raped and swiftly took a pair of scissors from her knitting stand and sliced the stallion’s cheek yelling at Scootaloo to run. When she snapped back to reality, she wondered if it was all her fault her parents were murdered. She stood up and looked down the path to the cliffs at the end of the forest and walked down it. She looks over the edge of the cliff and stood on her hind legs and looked back, shedding a tear.
“It will be just like falling asleep” she says to herself silently.
She closes her eyes, and jumps. She feels the fast wind as she falls,
“I love you mom and dad, I'll get to be with you now” she mutters under her breath, and almost smiles.
Suddenly, a rainbow streak shoots up towards her and caught her just before she hit the ground. She opens her eyes and sees a beautiful blue Pegasus with a rainbow mane that had caught her from her suicide attempt. She gently places Scootaloo on the solid ground and stares at her with worry.
“Are you okay kid? Why on earth did you jump off that cliff?” She says, waiting for an answer.
“Who are you? Why did you save me?” Scootaloo asks in shock.
“Well,” the rainbow Pegasus starts, “my name is Rainbow Dash, and it's not every day you see a young filly just jump off a cliff, now why did you do it?” She says.
Scootaloo couldn't do anything but look down as she spoke to the mare.
“They'll find me and kill me too just like my parents, I want to end it here, no more stress, no more pain” she said, tears welling up in her eyes.
Rainbow Dash looked at her in confusion, then it clicked.
“D-did they take them from you kid?” she said, her jaw almost dropping at the thought that a filly so young could lose her parents in such a way.
“They killed them both, m-my father’s head….gone.. And what they did to my mother..” Scootaloo drops to the ground sobbing.
Rainbow Dash sits next to her and wraps her hooves around her small body. Scootaloo looks at her in awe, then embraces the hug, finally breaking down, letting out all emotions she felt so long ago. After a couple of minutes, they broke their hug, wiping their eyes.
“Hey kid” Rainbow Dash started.
“It’s Scootaloo” the little filly said.
“Well then, Scootaloo, would you like to live with me? I could always use some company at home” Dash says. “Oh and don’t worry, a bunch of dumb criminals aren’t going to take me down that easy, and that’s a promise” she added, giving a small wink.
Scootaloo nods and both head towards Dash’s cloud home. Later that afternoon, Rainbow dash sets up what used to be her spare bedroom into Scootaloo’s personal room, bringing in a few of her own prized wonderbolts posters. Rainbow Dash looked at the little filly just sitting on the bed staring at the posters.
“Like the posters Scootaloo? I thought you’d like them” She silently nods and looks down at the floor.
Rainbow Dash walks up to her, placing a hoof on her shoulder.
“Look, I know it’s going to be hard to get over what happened, but I Pinkie promise you that I will keep you safe no matter what as long as I have something to say about it, Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye” Rainbow Dash does the series of silly movements and they both make a little giggle.
“Alright, you should get some rest, i’ll see you in the morning” Dash says, making a motion to walk out the door
“W-wait..” Scootaloo says, in a slightly desperate tone. Rainbow Dash looks to her,
“Yeah? What’s up?” she says.
“C-could you maybe...sleep with me tonight?” the little filly says, looking up at her.
Rainbow Dash gives Scootaloo a small smile, “Sure kid, I don’t mind keeping you a little company for the night” she says.
Dash slips in the bed next to Scootaloo, gives her a small kiss on the forehead, and lies down.
“Goodnight kiddo” she says.
Seven years had gone by and it's the anniversary of the death of Scootaloo’s parents. She is in class with her new friends who had blank flanks like her, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom. The trio dedicated to finding their special talents, calling themselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders, however, this was not the reason Scootaloo was looking forward to this day. She had set up a very important “Class Trip” with Cheerilee and Rainbow Dash, asking if they would take the class to her old home to remember that we all should give comfort when there are tragedies that can affect a pony greatly, and not every day a pony can always be safe.
“Alright class! Listen up!” Ms. Cheerilee taps her hoof on the ground to gather everypony’s attention. “Today we're having a different kind of field trip, it is to remind all of you we can’t always be for safe every day of our lives. I have also asked somepony else who will be joining us any moment now” She said.
The school door opens, and Rainbow Dash walks in, “Hey there kiddos!” she says.
The class looks to the athletic pegasus in surprise, usually she busts in flying in a very cheerful mood, but today she seems...Happy, but less energetic.
“Hello Ms. Cheerilee, are they ready?” she turns her head to ask the teacher pony. “I was just getting them ready now.” She replied.
“Now class, follow Ms Dash here and she will load you all onto a wagon Apple Bloom’s sister helped build for this occasion!” Cheerilee said.
She motions Scootaloo to enter the wagon first, and as a single file line, the class follows behind. After all the fillies and colts were loaded on the wagon, Rainbow Dash and Cheerilee pulled the cart together, thinking it would rather be disrespectful for one to pull the whole class by themself.
“So girls!” Apple Bloom started, “Where do y’all think we're goin?” she says.
Sweetie Belle shrugs but Scootaloo gives a slight serious look “It’s my old home” she says.
he seriousness in their friend’s voice stopped Applebloom and Sweetie Belle from asking further questions, they have never seen Scootaloo like this before, it must be important. About half an hour passes, and the cart finally stops, waking some of the fillies and colts that fell asleep during the ride.
“Alright class here we are!” Cheerilee said happily. The students look at an old run down home in confusion, wondering why on earth anypony would be interested in some old house.
Diamond Tiara scoffs, “Why are we at this ugly old house? It looks like a creepy haunted house where ponies died and disappeared” she says.
Scootaloo cringes from what she heard while Cheerilee raises a hoof to silence her before more questions came about,
“This house was the home of Miss Scootaloo, who wanted to do this field trip in the first place and tell you a story” she said. Like clockwork, every colt and filly turned to Scootaloo, who was standing on an old wooden box, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle sat close in the front to hear their friend, while Diamond Tiara stood, still confused on what to think of the subject.
“Seven years ago, I lived in this house” Scootaloo started, “I lived here with my mother and father, who beyond everything loved me very much. That is when the break-in happened, two large stallions burst through the window, did horrible things to my mother….. And killed my father.” she said, a small tear forming in her eye from the memory. Rainbow dash stepped up on her side and gave her a loving look, she knew she had to do this. “I was able to escape the incident because my mother tried to save me, I got away, but they killed her after I was gone. I spent a few days in the wild living in a makeshift wood shelter until I couldn’t take it anymore, so I jumped off a cliff to end my life, until Rainbow Dash saved me and gave me a new hope to live on like my parents would want”
Scootaloo ends, tears now completely covering her face, she slightly started sobbing in Rainbow’s chest. Some of the students had tears in their eyes, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle were sobbing and holding each other tightly, even Diamond Tiara lightened her posture, fighting a lump in her throat while Silver Spoon gave her a hug. Miss Cheerilee stood up, small tears in her eyes as well, but regained her composure and said
“Even with the love and harmony we have in Equestria, darkness always finds a way to attack us and make our lives miserable, but that is why we fight back and aid those in need, and right now, Scootaloo is asking for you help in hope of a family, not just Rainbow Dash, but all of us need to be there for her”.
Everypony made a group hug around Scootaloo, ignoring the drizzle of rain that was starting. Rainbow Dash, Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle being the closest to her.
“I love you all!” Scootaloo said to her friends. She looked up in the setting sky with a warm smile and said to herself “And I love you mom and dad”.
