Goodbye Manehatten, Hello Ponyville
"Phew, all packed and ready to go for tomorrow," the blue male pegasus sighed, sitting down on the his couch.
The blue pegasus in question had green eyes, a small tornado and a lightning bolt adorning his flank and went by the name of Swift Gale. He was just a normal weather pony in Manehatten, just living in a small apartment near the middle of the city. He generally did his job without any complains, except when he had help clean out the pollution in the air. That was the only part of his job that he hated because he had wear an uncomfortable mask on his face to avoid breathing in the air and the smoke smell would get stuck on him for the rest of the day. It was especially bad on days that rained.
However, this was the last day that he would have to do such a thing for this city. While he liked living in the city, he didn't really care for all of the different types of personalities from ponies he had to deal with on a daily basis. He also felt like he was always tied down by the city atmosphere and his constant, monotonous schedule of getting up, going to work, and coming back home to crash in his bed. He was tired of this life and needed a change of pace, which is why he was moving to a much quieter town by the name of Ponyville. He had already contacted the different real estate ponies and made the necessary arrangements to move new furniture into his new house. The moving ponies had assured him that all of his furniture would be in his new home by the time he got there. He looked over at his bed and realized that he forgot one thing.
'I forgot to order a bed for my house,' Swift thought to himself, walking over to his phone.
The Next Morning
"Last call for all passengers heading for Ponyville," The conductor called on the intercom, warning any ponies who haven't gotten on the train yet to do so immediately.
Swift was looking out of the window, watching all of the passengers that were heading to Ponyville for one reason or another rush onto the train. Luckily, the azure pegasus had a seat all to himself as his train car didn't have a lot of ponies on it. A loud whistle sounded from the from the front of the train followed by a, 'Next stop: Ponyville' from the conductor, the train slowly started to move.
'A new town, huh?' Swift thought to himself, watching the scenery pass by. 'I guess its not a bad thing to start with a nearly clean slate.'
It was difficult to describe how the pegasus was felt, due to the abundance of emotions that were floating around inside him. He didn't know what the future was going to entail and that scared him, but it also made him excited. As the thoughts his new life flowed through his head, he let out a yawn. Not only did he have to wake up early enough to double check all of his items that he had packed, but he also had to run quite a distance to the train station from his apartment. He couldn't really fly in the city, due to all of the buildings and the random bits of airborne trash flying between the buildings. All the more reason he wanted to move to someplace new and not crowded. With another yawn, he decided that he might was well catch up on some sleep. It was still a bit dark outside after all.
A few hours later...
"We will be at the Ponyville Station shortly," the conductor announced. "All ponies who are getting off at the next station, please grab your bags. All ponies who are staying on the train for the next stop, please make way for those getting off at the station and have your tickets ready."
Swift, who had recently woken from his nap, grabbed his bag from the railing above him and prepared to get off the train. Once the train stopped, he hurried off the train.
'So this is Ponyville,' the azure pegasus thought, looking around at the rural town. 'Seems nice.'
He saw the different ponies conversing with each other as he walked through the town in the direction of his new home. Some were giggling, some were watching their foals play with other foals, and some were running small shops. To him, it seemed like it was a town where everypony knew everypony...well a town where everypony knew at least everypony's name. He didn't know why, but the sound of that made him break out in a smile. Maybe it was the atmosphere of the town that made him feel so optimistic, but it felt good.
'Well, I need to hurry up and get to my new house. I've got things to unpack and arrange.'
Swift unfurled his wings and took to the skies, eager to get to his new home.
Author's Note
I want to apologize for the mediocre first chapter. I've never been good at making first chapters. In fact, in all of the fics I have written, I think the only one that I've only written one first chapter that I'm proud of. It's an Acchi Kocchi fic if you're all wondering (if you're a fan of cute slice of life anime, give it a watch. It's one of my favorites). Anyways, after the first chapter is when I start to get going more with the story. There will be definite references from Persona 3 and 4. I'm not sure about Persona 5, although I'm definitely going to use music from it because I feel that it would fit pretty well in this fic, as well as music from both 3 and 4. I will also be using music from various other games that I think would fit the situation. Anyways, I hope you all will enjoy this fic! Later!
Swift's Home ~ 9:30 pm
It had been a few hours since Swift had arrived at his new home. During those few hours, he organized both the items that he bought and brought with him from Manehatten. He looked over his living room, smirking at his work before heading to his bedroom.
'Let's see... tomorrow I have to buy some groceries, start looking for a job...' Swift started to list off in his head before being interrupted by a yawn.
His bedroom was very barren, with the exception of the bed with the nightstand. There was also a mirror close to the bed, as well as an alarm clock and a lamp on top of the nightstand. Sooner or later, he was going to have to make the house a bit, but that was for another time. Currently, one thing was one his mind: Sleep. He climbed into the bed and put the covers over him, where he immediately fell asleep. Little did he know, the day that he moved to Ponyville was the last day he was going to live a completely average and ordinary day for a while.
???
Swift woke up with a start. He was no longer in his bedroom. Instead he was sitting on a couch in a blue room that had a desk right in front of him. He looked around the purple room. Even though it looked just like a normal room there was something that felt off to him. Like there was some sort of magical power in the room. It was then that he heard someone clear their throat. He looked in front of him was noticed that he was not alone. Sitting at the once empty desk was a bipedal creature with a long nose, a hunched-looking back, and bulging eyes. The creature looked at him and spoke the words:
"Welcome to the Velvet Room..."
The Velvet Room
"The Velvet Room?" Swift repeated, feeling both confused and slightly intimidated. "What do you mean? What is this place? Who are you?"
The creature interrupted him putting his hand up.
"You will come to learn more in due time, Swift Gale" the creature simple replied. "Do not be alarmed, you are still asleep in the real world. My name is Igor and I am delighted to make your acquaintance."
"Wait, how do you know my name?"
Igor snapped his fingers and summoned a piece of paper. It floated in front of Swift face as he quickly scanned through the paper.
"A...contract? Why are you showing me this?"
Igor chuckled. "Look closely at the contract. Doesn't it look familiar?"
'Familiar?' Swift thought to himself, reading the through the contract carefully.
His eyes widened in both shock in confusion.
"Wait, that's the deed to my house. Why are you showing me this? Better question: how did you get this?"
Igor chuckled again. "This is not the actual deed. The real deed is still filed away safely in the real world. This is but a copy of it that I pulled from your memories."
Igor snapped his fingers again, causing the parchment to disappear.
"The moment you signed that deed, you also signed a contract to be a guest of the Velvet Room."
"What do you mean that 'you also signed a contract to be a guest of the Velvet Room?' I don't get it."
"You see, the Velvet Room is a realm in between mind and matter, separating dreams from realities. By signing this contract and moving to a different home, you've assigned yourself a very particular fate, as well as made yourself a resident of this very room."
Swift was still baffled at the odd creature. The very words coming out of Igor's mouth, made more and more question pop in his head.
"Your appearance in here means that there is something in danger of completely obstructing your way of life, as well as many others. However, your appearing here also means that you have the potential to stop such danger, which you shall awaken to within time."
Before he continued speaking, he waved his hand over the desk between the two, making cards appear on it.
"From what I can see, you have a very interesting destiny ahead of you. I'm interested in watching this destiny of yours, as well as help you along with that destiny."
Swift didn't get it. His appearance in this room meant that there was something that could destroy his life as well as the life of others and he had the "potential" to stop such a thing? He was just a normal weather pony. Nothing more, nothing less. Before he could ask anymore questions about anything else, Igor spoke up again.
"It seems we are running out of time. Day is approaching for you and we shouldn't keep you any longer. However, this will not be the last time you see me. The next time you see me, you will have awoken to your power. Farewell for now."
Suddenly, Swift was hit by was wave of sleepiness. He felt the deep embrace of sleep cover him as his eyes slowly closed...
Swift's House ~ 8:30 am
Swift's eyes opened slowly as he stirred from his sleep. He sat up, rubbing his eyes with his hooves. Just what was that surreal dream that he had last night? That weird creature and his entire explanation about the lives of everyone being destroyed and the destiny thing. No matter how many times he replayed the events in his head, he denied that fact that had even happened... even if it did feel so real. Swift looked over at his nightstand to read the alarm clock, which currently read '8:30 am.'
"8:30?!" Swift exclaimed, literally jumping out of bed in a panic. "I'm going to be late for my first day on the job!"
He made a mental note to think about his dream later and focused on getting ready for his first job was a weather pony in Ponyville.
Author's Note
Okay, so this took a bit (shouldn't be writing at three in the morning). I feel like this is very mediocre, so please give me any advice necessary so I can improve later chapters. Anyways, thank you all for reading and I hope that you enjoy! Later!
