Project: Canterlot invasion
Prologue: The creature
Load Full StoryBelow the surface of the outskirts of Canterlot there is a creature. This creature is known as the hive by its parts. The creature moves and scurries around in many different ways, all seemingly random but all have purpose. You could say this creature was the model of efficiency and you wouldn’t be wrong. It is constantly growing, constantly renewing, constantly changing.
The dark green tunnels of the hive twist and bend, seemingly randomly. They split off as they go deeper into the beast. They arrive at a hall with pods hanging off the ceiling. The pods are in their hundreds, all waiting to be released. The hall looks so massive it seems it can’t even be underground. Across from the hall is the head of the creature. The throne room. The room looks so complex that it takes a second to even take in. Treasures from far off places adorn every part of the room, and sat in the throne of this room is the brain of the creature. Her name is Queen Crystalis. She controls every aspect of this creature. The one we call the hive.
She controls all of us, from the drones to the under queens. We are all one cohesive entity under her. She speaks to us through our minds; we speak to each other through our minds. There isn’t an individual in the hive. Just us, the hive.
That is where I come in, I am a drone. Just like all the other drones. We are all so similar I guess you could say I was the other drones. My job in the hive was to be an infiltrator; I went out of the hive to take love energy from ponies- in disguise of course. I was the mouth of the creature, taking love energy into the hive to feed to everyone. The love energy to fuel the rest the creature. I got to be a short part of ponies’ lives, taking their place for a day or two. No one ever noticed. To them I was Pepper Fleur or Autumn Diamond. But I was still the hive inside. Every day I would see a new story. I enjoyed it in that way but all that mattered was that I was doing it for the hive.
I lived that that since I was a nymph. I wasn’t taught, I just knew it. I knew it from the other drones; everything that we learned got passed on through the hive. I never understood how ponies could live without knowing each other’s minds. It must be so disorganized. We all know what each other is thinking and feeling, this makes us one.
We all lived in secrecy. Taking love for food and growing. But then an idea started to form. Crystalis had had an idea to infiltrate the royal castle. It was just an idea at first and it seemed ludicrous. But as it flowed around the hive many seemed to like it. Crystalis developed it but it still seemed like a ridiculous idea to her. The idea kept developing for a month like a new nymph. Eventually Crystalis started to warm to the idea. Project: Canterlot infiltration. She liked that name. Now all she had to do was figure out what to do.
