I Am Savitar
Chapter 2: Welcome to Ponyville
Previous ChapterIt had been a few days since Shining Armor had almost married Queen Chrysalis. And now that the real wedding had gone down without a hitch, it was time for the wedding reception. As Shining Armor and Cadence disappeared into a crowd of well-wishers, Barry, who was clad in a sleek black tuxedo, was surrounded by important members of the Equestrian government, mainly those associated with the defense of the nation, who had heard about what he had done to save Equestria from the Changelings from Celestia, and of course, were more than a little concerned that he might one day turn against them.
“I understand your concern, but do you really think I’d go through all that trouble to save everyone if I was just going to turn against you guys? My loyalty is to Equestria and to the Princesses,” said Barry.
“It may be so for now, but what’s to stop your loyalties from changing, or being corrupted?” asked one of the Defense Advisors.
“Well, I think I’ll deal with that problem when and if it surfaces. Trust me, if I had wished any ill will upon Equestria, I would’ve left it to the Changelings. Hell, I would’ve actually helped the Changelings torch this place.”
The advisors seemed to consider this for a moment. “Very well then. We will let this matter rest for now. But be warned, if you should try anything that would bring harm to our great kingdom, you will suffer the full might of Equestria, and you will pay, no matter how far or how fast you run,” the advisor said.
“Uh-huh, I’ll keep that in mind,” said Barry in an almost bored sort of voice as he watched the advisors leave, each muttering darkly among one another.
…
The following day, the Elements of Harmony and Barry were heading back to Ponyville. As Barry, clad in his Savitar armor, followed the train that the Elements of Harmony were on, the Elements themselves were in a serious conversation about the so-called “God of Speed.”
“What do you suppose gave him the abilities that he has?” Rarity asked Twilight.
“I don’t know,” said Twilight nervously. “But, I intend to find out.”
“Maybe the lightning bolt that sent him to Equestria has something to do with it,” suggested Spike, Twilight’s surrogate son and assistant. He was a dragonblood with spiky green hair, emerald green reptilian eyes, and wore a purple hoodie with a black shirt underneath, blue jeans, and black shoes.
“It’s possible,” said Twilight, nodding. “But, we’ll need to run tests on him back at the library in order to be sure.”
Rainbow Dash, meanwhile, was watching Savitar run, an expression on her face that seemed to suggest that she was hurting. An expression that did not go unnoticed by Fluttershy.
“Are you okay, Rainbow Dash?” asked Fluttershy.
“I’m fine, Flutters,” muttered Rainbow.
“Rainbow, you don't look fine, or sound fine. Now tell me what's wrong or I'll use The Stare.” said the normally docile and shy mare in an upset but stern tone.
“You wouldn't dare.” Rainbow said in the same broken way before Fluttershy walked in front of her longtime friend and began to Stare at her.
Rainbow began to feel a powerful surge of fear run through her as Fluttershy’s gaze pierced into her very soul, torturing her. It only took a few minutes for her to break.
“Okay, okay, I’ll talk, just stop!” cried Rainbow.
Fluttershy blinked hard, breaking the Stare she had trapped Rainbow in. “Now, tell me what’s bothering you,” she demanded.
Rainbow heaved a sigh. “I always thought I was the fastest woman alive. I mean, I can do Sonic Rainbooms on command, and all kinds of stunts. And then, Savitar shows up out of nowhere. You saw what he did to the Changeling Queen. He was moving so fast, that he was in a bunch of different places at the same time.Compared to that, my Sonic Rainboom is nothing. The speed that Savitar can achieve makes me look like a joke. I guess my pride’s a little beat up is all,” she explained.
“Sounds like your pride is more than just a little beat up, Rainbow,” said Fluttershy.
“Okay, it’s a lot beat up. But, I know one thing’s for sure. I need to get faster. Somehow, some way, I need to get faster and show this Savitar who’s boss. After all, speed is the name of the game, and I am number one, not some guy who appeared out of nowhere rocking some sweet armor,” said Rainbow, a dark look on her face that somewhat made Fluttershy feel more than a little concerned for her friend.
“Rainbow-”
“I’m done talking, Fluttershy. Just leave me alone.”
Fluttershy could easily tell that their conversation was over. With one last concerned look at her friend, Fluttershy left to rejoin the others, leaving Rainbow alone with her thoughts.
…
While the Mane 6 talked about him, Savitar was getting accustomed to the controls of his armor, which even came with its own AI named GIDEON, who was walking him through the basics of his armor.
”The Spectral Armored Velocity Increasing Tachyon Augmented Retroreflective suit, or S.A.V.I.T.A.R. suit, enhances your Speed Force connection and strength by over 1,000%. It is also equipped with a neural interface system with built-in wifi, internet, and visual spectrum abilities, as well as access to radio and broadband frequencies. Additionally, the suit can engage in combat when you are not inside it, providing you with the means to escape enemy capture. In short, you think it, the suit does it, sir,” explained GIDEON.
“Then why couldn’t I project my blade when I was fighting that insect woman?” asked Barry.
”The systems were still recalibrating to your specific brain patterns. This wasn’t your armor, nor was this your original body,” explained GIDEON.
“Don’t remind me…” muttered Barry, thinking back to the events that had occurred before he had been struck by that lightning. He’d had an argument with his girlfriend before he could propose to her, which resulted in their breakup. On top of that, the electric company he’d worked for told him that it was downsizing, and that he’d have to look for another job in a few weeks time.
So immersed was Barry in his thoughts that he nearly crashed into the train and had to make a sharp turn in order to avoid an accident, and as a result, stumbled and fell flat on his face.
”Careful, sir,” said GIDEON.
“Thanks for the advice,” muttered Barry as he pulled himself up off the ground and continued to follow the train.
…
Before long, the train pulled into a station located just outside a large and bustling city called Ponyville. As the Elements of Harmony walked off the train, they were soon joined by Savitar.
Within seconds, the entire station was a full-fledged panic. Screaming filled the air as couples held onto each other tightly, as though the entire world was coming to an end. More than one person got on their knees and either begged Savitar for their lives, for their children's’ lives, or else prayed that God would have mercy on their souls.
”I take it none of these people have ever seen anything like me, or at least HEARD about what I did in Canterlot?”Savitar muttered to Twilight as her friends, being national heroes and all, tried to calm everyone down.
“I’m sure they’ve heard of you, Barry. More than likely they’re scared of you because of how, big, intimidating, and all around terrifying you look,” replied Twilight.
”Makes sense, but I’m not sure if I like the idea of everyone running in terror from me everywhere I go,” said Savitar.
“Well, if you’re really not here to bring harm or take over Equestria, I’m sure they’ll get used to you… eventually.”
Once the Elements had assured everyone that Savitar wasn’t going to hurt them, the group made their way into the city proper, Savitar with some difficulty due to his bulk. As they walked down the streets, more than one person pulled out their cell phone and called 911, only to somehow get a busy signal because many others were doing the same, and more than one time, the group had been surrounded by SWAT officers who were trying to either arrest or take down Savitar, but were thankfully talked down by the Elements of Harmony.
Despite these misadventures, it wasn’t long before the group reached their unspoken destination: a large oak tree that had been hollowed out in order to convert it into a building. A sign on the front lawn read Golden Oaks Library. The group said their farewells and went their separate ways, with Savitar following Twilight and Spike into the library, albeit with some difficulty due to the bulk of his armor.
Once all three of them were inside the library, Savitar knelt down and opened his suit’s back hatch.
“I suppose you want to start your tests right away?” Barry asked Twilight as he climbed out of his armor.
“Actually, I was going to go make something to eat. You want anything?” asked Twilight.
“Umm… I'm not exactly sure you might have what I eat.”
“Well, what do you eat?” asked Twilight, the scientist part of her starting to take hold.
“Well, I’m an omnivore. I need to eat both meat and certain plants to maintain a healthy diet,” explained Barry.
“Well, lucky for you, we Equestrians also happen to be omnivores,” said Twilight with a small smile.
Barry breathed a sigh of relief. “Well, that’s one less thing to worry about. What you got to eat?” he asked Twilight.
…
A short time later, Barry, Twilight, and Spike were having a good time over pork chops and green beans, listening to Twilight and Spike tell stories of their adventures. Barry knew the big question about where he’d come from and where he’d gotten his power was coming, and he’d mentally braced himself for the question, trying to remember the story of the Flash’s origins.
“So, Barry… care to tell us where you came here from and how exactly how got your super speed? Maybe something about your past” asked Twilight.
Barry looked down at his plate with a downcast expression on his mangled face. “I came here… from a place called Central City. I was a CSI for the Central City Police Department. I became a CSI because…” Barry paused for a moment, making it seem as though he was recalling a particularly painful memory, when in truth he was just trying to remember the Flash’s origins. With a sigh, Barry continued his story.
“When I was 11 years old, my mother was murdered,” he said, earning gasps and shocked looks from Twilight and Spike. “It was late. A sound woke me up. I came down stairs and saw what looked like a ball of red and yellow lightning. Inside the lightning was a man in a yellow suit. He killed my mom, a single knife wound to the heart. They arrested my dad. He spent the next 15 years afterward in a 6-by-8 foot cell.”
“Whoa…that… that’s…” said Spike, at a complete loss for words.
“Barry… I don’t know what to say. I’m so sorry,” said Twilight, placing a comforting hand on Barry’s shoulder.
“It’s all right. It doesn’t hurt as bad as it used to,” said Barry, swallowing to clear his throat. “I got my speed one night during a storm. A particle accelerator exploded. The energy from the detonation was thrown into the sky. where it seeded a storm cloud, that created a lightning bolt, that struck me, giving me a connection to what’s called the Speed Force. It’s kinda like the Force from Star Wars, except instead of giving you telekinesis-”
“It gives you super speed,” said Spike, who was starting to feel as though he’d heard Barry’s story somewhere before.
“Exactly. I spent the next nine months in a coma, and when I found out what I could do, I decided to use my powers to protect the innocent people of Central City from others who had gotten powers from the particle accelerator explosion, metahumans, as me and my team called them, who had turned to crime after getting their powers. I called myself the Flash. In the end, the very man who had been teaching how to go faster was the man in the yellow suit, the man who killed my mother. He called himself the Reverse-Flash. After he was defeated, I faced Zoom, who murdered my father right in front of me. After I beat him, though, something happened, and I was propelled into ancient times and was stuck there without my speed. Then, one day, I found the Philosopher’s Stone,” said Barry.
“The Philosopher’s Stone? As in, the one that makes you immortal and turns any metal into pure gold?” said Twilight.
“So the legends say. None of it true, though. In any case, the Stone restored my speed. I then traveled to the distant future and had my armor built for me. And thus, I dubbed myself, Savitar, the God of Speed, just to sound intimidating,” explained Barry. “And then I found $5.”
Twilight and Spike chuckled, despite not knowing what a “dollar” was.
“You’ve certainly been through a lot, Barry. If you need to talk about anything, just let me know,” said Twilight.
Barry smiled. “Thanks, Twilight.”
“So, where’s the Stone now?” asked Spike.
“I lost it. It’s back where I’m from, unfortunately,” said Barry.
“So, if you’ll give me a moment, I’ll get this cleared up, and then we can get started with the-” said Twilight, but before she could finish speaking, Barry whooshed about the kitchen, grabbing up all the dishes, washing them, drying them, and figuring out where to put them in a matter of seconds as orange lightning emanated off his body, while Twilight and Spike could only stare in shock and awe.
“Uh… thank you,” said Twilight while Spike laughed and gave him a round of applause.
Barry shrugged. “It’s the least I could for allowing me to stay at your home. Well, aside from you running tests on me and my armor, that is,” he said. “Shall we?”
Barry led the way from the kitchen, with Spike right behind him. Twilight could only stare after the speedster, and found herself unable to stop thinking about him… or how handsome he looked, aside from the scar, which she somehow found surprisingly attractive...
Twilight shook herself. “Focus, Twilight. You have better things to do than getting a crush on some guy with superpowers who came here from another world,” she firmly told herself as she stood up and followed Barry and Spike out of the kitchen.
…

Chrysalis moaned as she stirred. The first thing she noticed was that her hands and feet were bound to a wall by thick black vines of some kind. The second thing she noticed was there something nearby was making helicopter noises.
“What is this?! Let me go! I am a Queen, not some common dreg to be held prisoner!” demanded Chrysalis.
“Ah, it seems the subject is awake,”said a deep, dark, and sinister voice, one that, despite her best efforts to control it, made a small spasm of fear surge through Chrysalis. Through the darkness Chrysalis saw a pair of glowing red eyes, and the faintest outline of what looked like a man in a yellow suit. “GIDEON, begin the recording,” the Man In The Yellow Suit instructed what seemed to be a small holographic head of some kind.
“Certainly, Professor Thawne,” said GIDEON. ”Recording started. You may begin, Professor.”
“This is Professor Eobard Artemis Thawne, MD and PhD, codename, The Reverse-Flash. Date is currently unknown. Location is currently unknown. Upon arrival to this unknown location, I encountered this specimen before me. I intend to learn where I am, when I am, and what exactly the specimen is, and if there are others like it. Current notations are as follows,” said Reverse-Flash.”Subject appears to be female in gender. Judging by the form of the subject’s wings, subject has somehow assimilated insect DNA into her system. Small crown found near subject indicates some sort of position of authority over others like her. Subject herself has professed to be a ‘Queen.’ Although, at this time I cannot verify what exactly she is supposed to be the queen of.”
The Reverse-Flash silently approached Chrysalis, his demonic red eyes stripping the changeling queen bare and dismissing her as foolish and insignificant, as though she were no more than a lab rat to be sacrificed.
“Can you understand me?” The Reverse-Flash asked the Changeling Queen. When Chrysalis only glared at her captor, Reverse-Flash punched her across the face, causing her to spit out green blood. “I said, can you understand me?”
“Y-yes,” snarled Chrysalis.
“Good. Where am I? What is the date? What exactly are you the ‘Queen’ of?” demanded Reverse-Flash.
“Go to Hell, freak!” snarled Chrysalis. “You think you can just treat me like some lab experiment? I am the Queen of the Changelings, and you will show me some respect! Now, cut me loose!”
The Reverse-Flash took a step back and raised his hand, the index finger of which was vibrating very fast. ”Well, then. Seeing as the ‘ask nicely’ option is no longer on the table… perhaps you’ll give me the answers I seek with a different form of persuasion… Your Majesty…” said Reverse-Flash as he dragged his finger slowly across Chrysalis’ stomach, leaving a deep cut as the Changeling Queen, who hissed and grunted in pain, for it felt like an electrical knife of some kind was digging deep into her.
“Now, tell me… WHERE AM I?!”
