//-------------------------------------------------------// Pushing Limits -by Justkeepingitanon- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Broken Wings & Broken Bonds //-------------------------------------------------------// Broken Wings & Broken Bonds "Dash, push yourself harder" Those words rung in his head as he paced the hospital floor. All he could think of was her limp body barreling to the ground, helpless.. He'd been pushing her to go faster, and yet he couldn't even reach her in time                //////// 'It's my fault.. I did this, I caused this on Dash..' He thought to himself as he let out another sigh and peeked through her dim lit hospital glass, watching nurses surrounding her sleeping figure. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to come face to face with Spitfire. "Spit, I-" "Soar, it's not your fault. All Captains make mistakes.. Trust me, the doctors already said she'll be fine. Relax, please. You'll only make it worse worrying." Her words were soft, something uncharacteristic of Captain Spitfire. Without any other words, he sat down, and she quietly took a seat next to him. Minutes seemed like hours to him. The clock above him just ticked over and over again. Finally, a door opened and a doctor came out with a gentle smile. "She's got a nasty break in her wing. It might take up to weeks to truly heal, so be gentle on her." His eyes looked at both Soarin and  Spitfire as Spitfire nodded her head, understanding, and Soarin's head went down with guilt. "She'll be fine, relax son." He gave a warm smile to Soarin. "Would you like to see her?" Reluctantly, Soarin nodded and slowly made his way to the door. He saw her sleeping figure and took a seat in the empty chair facing her bed.                //////// Through the bandages, he saw the bruises on her wings, arms and legs. He was sure there were more underneath her hospital gown too. He had the urge to touch her tiny hand, hold it. Her breathed hitched and her sleepy eyes looked around the room. She came to focus with his figure, then she recognized him. "Soarin..." She was quiet, remembering his shouts to her from hours earlier. "Dash, I-I'm so sorry.." She remained quiet, before opening her mouth again to speak. "I trusted you. Out of everyone on the team I thought you understood. You knew me. You knew my limits.." "Dash, I lost myself. I'm sorry. And because of it, I almost lost you. You mean everything to me. I never thought you'd be hurt, you were always the one saving me, and the team. I never meant to push your limits. I-I don't know what I would've done if you would've gotten hurt even worse, or even.." She took in his words, but remained quiet, thinking to herself. 'Everyone makes mistakes Dash, even you. He seems truly sorry too..' She thought to herself before her eyes met his again. "Soar, I'm fine. And I'm gonna be fine. Soon enough I'll be practicing again & I'll be able to kick your ass." She gave a little smirk as he smiled, knowing she was trying to lighten the mood. "But seriously, I know that you're my second captain over everything, and I -" He cut her off quickly, shaking his head. "No." "No?" No, I'm not your captain first. You're my love, that's what comes to first to me over everything. You, and your safety. And today I chanced it all with you today. Dash, I swear I'll never put you through that again." "Soar, its fine. I pinky pie promise on it. I'm glad you were there to save me.." "But I caused it." "You did not Soar! You saved me, you didn't cause anything. It is your job and not only do I understand it but I respect it." She reached out her hand to graze her fingers on his. "Can you take me home?" She asked innoecently enough, hoping him along with Spitfire could pull some strings to let out their fellow teammate. "Of course, Dash." He whispered. "Be right back." He left the room quickly enough and within a matter of minutes she was in a carriage on her way home.                ////////                                                                                                           — She lay in bed, her hands running down the sides of him. Her body had never felt this kind of pain before but he (along with the light medicine she'd been given) made her feel better. "If I could kiss you right now I would.." She whispered and her tiny hands interlocked with his. "Who said I couldn't be gentle?" He gave her a familiar teasing smile before barely brushing his lips against hers. She clung to his shirt attempting to deepen it before he pulled himself away slowly. "I can't Dash.. I'm not gonna hurt you again." "Soar, you're not gonna." She whined, looking into his brilliant green eyes. "Nope, sorry love." He gave her foreheads a quick kiss before pulling her softly closer to him. "Sleep sounds better right now.." He said quickly and he lighly draped his arm around her, letting her nuzzle into his neck. He stroked her wings as lightly as possible, which she seemed to enjoy as he felt her muscles relax. Within minutes, the sound of snoring was heard and Soarin knew she was fast asleep. His eyes found themself drifting off as well as he kissed her head and let Luna's moon watch over them.
