The Disharmony Zone: Season One ~Mist Chaser~ (An Interactive Story)
Prologue: A Soliloquy of Chaos
In the beginning there is only a rotating monochrome spiral. It seems to encompass the whole of existance, as if the universe had suddenly been made up of a cheap parlor trick meant to give the weak willed a need to quack like a chicken and cluck like a bicycle horn. The only sound to accompany the vortex is a repetitively annoying tune too horrible to describe, guaranteed to drive any who dwelt in this place mad from prolonged exposure to its unrelenting assault on their ears. Any who gazed at the center of the spiral might have made out a rather plain looking door with a strange, mostly hairless, apelike creature in a nice black suit with a matching tie standing beside it.
Suddenly reality shifts as an eyelid snaps shut over the swirling mass effectively drowning out the headche inducing sight and sounds that accompanied it. The owner of the eyelid takes a few steps back to reveal himself as a tall, serpent-like, draconic headed creature, with mismatched body parts. His left arm was that of an eagle while his right that of a lion's paw. He stood on his hind legs which consisted of one being that of a dragon and the other was simply a hoof of a bull or pony. His face could be described as goatlike with mismatched horns, a snaggle tooth, a long white goat's beard, and two normally yellow eyes of differing sizes with red piercing irises topped with white shaggy eyebrows. Any who knew him, knew him instantly as The Lord of Chaos himself, Discord. As to why he had chosen to turn the world monochrome, stand on a cloud in the night sky of Equestria next to a sleeping black Pegasus all while wearing Lederhosen, an old fashioned bonnet with the tag reading "Property of Granny Smith", and a monocle was anypony's guess. In fact many ponies who often saw him about didn't even bother guessing what he was up to after a while. It was far safer and less of headache not to.
"For your reading displeasure..." He began saying in an emotionlessly, stoic, rehearsed voice, while waving his eagle claw dismissively at the sleeping mare beside him, all while staring ahead into the void in front of him at a certain audience who only he was aware of at the moment that currently occupied another existence. "I give you Mist Chaser... A perfectly boring example of Pegasus-kind... Living a perfectly boring Pegasus existance, in the little hamlet of a perfectly boring Ponyville, as a perfectly boring weather pony..."
A manic grin spreads across his lips as he looks down at her. "That is however something I've decided to remedy as of now though... And as of now my ever so helpful audience, you all are to become my wonderful little helpers in helping this boring mare's life become slightly more interesting."
He then regains a more serious expression. "HOWEVER, as not to incur a certain wrath of a timid friend of mine, I must make limits to our little game!" He holds out his claw to draw attention to the index talon. "Rule number ONE! No killing off our Main character outright. Chapters have to be so long to be able to be posted sadly..." Lowering his index claw, he extends his pinkie claw and speaks in a more sophisticated tone. "Rule number two is more about being informed that you are not limited to causing her life to being complete chaos. you may take the more civil aproach if need be, in putting her in situations that might improve her for existence the better." He lowers his pinkie claw and is about to extend the one claw inbetween the two he had used but freezes. He intead opts to simply hold his forarm behind his back and look sheepish. "Well the third rule involves her love life... But all I'm going to say is have fun with it... But don't expect me to be making any cameo appearances in those chapters..."
"Oh and one more thing, this magic you use will only be active for the next seven days of her life, but the effects may effect her long past that time..." He then holds up his talon as he prepares his exit. "So make it good!" He snaps his claws causing him to vanish instantly as the world suddenly returns to it's normal colorful self, the noise startling the Pegasus mare awake.
Mist Chaser looks around with an expression of confusion as she tries to understand the dream she just had moments before waking up but realizes something is more amiss in reality at the moment. she yawns and smacks her lips tiredly before voicing her more pressing concerns to nopony in particular. "How did I get outside?... and why does my tounge taste like somepony had their hoof in my mouth?" She ponders her situation a moment longer before plopping back down on the cloud in defeat, deciding she could deal with those questions in the morning when she was less tired and has had at least had her coffee. These questions could easily be made future Mist Chaser's problems after all, and present Mist Chaser needs her beauty sleep more than that old nag at the moment...
Had Mist Chaser been more observant, or awake for that matter, she would have noticed the cloud she was laying on had a faint glow to it that was slowly fading as it began to empty the chaotic energy it had been filled with by Discord into her as she slept, thus marking her for the next week of her life as the mere plaything of a congregation of strange looking, yet newly appointed, mostly hairless, sub-psychotic, Fates who had been observing her actions...
