Author's Note

Thank you so much to Rilleygrate and AppleOfThineEye for helping me make the story much better than the original idea. Comparing my original ideas for this story with what it is now, this would have for sure been absolute trash without them. This may be my best fanfiction yet.

Sweet Dreams, Dashie

After you arrived in the land of Equestria as a human about a year ago, the only ponies who didn't really see you as an intruder were the Mane Six. They were able to convince everypony else that you were just about the same as everypony else. You particularly liked one of the six ponies, and that pony was Rainbow Dash. She's all about flying fast and being super awesome. On top of that, she is the most adorable thing you have ever seen, though you've never told her. You decided to talk to her a little bit and you both eventually became good friends.

It's a warm Saturday morning. The sun shines bright through your window as you rub your eyes and then continue sleeping in. This relaxes you to not a deep level, but good enough. Unfortunately, you hear your doorbell ring from downstairs, interrupting your rest. You let out an annoyed sigh and get up from the irresistible comfort of your bed to get dressed. Afterward, you slouch as you walk downstairs to answer the front door. As soon as you reach the door, your expression of drowsiness vanishes and is replaced with an excited one. It's Rainbow Dash. You gasp happily at the sight of her. "Hey, Dashie! What brings you here?"

"Hey, Anon. I'm about to try and do my sonic rainboom for my flyer's competition tomorrow and I just wanted to know if you wanted to see it, because I've never shown it to you before."

You giggle a little bit, partially covering your mouth as you grin. "Of course I would, Dashie. I'd love to see your sonic rainboom."

You walk with Dash to the nearest open field. The fresh air of Ponyville felt great to inhale. The weather was nice, birds were singing, ponies were conversing, everything around you couldn't mean anything other than the fact that everything is going just fine. You two arrive at the large open field with brightly colored grass. "Alright, Anon, ready to see my sonic rainboom?

"Darn right I am. Let's see it." Without hesitation, she zooms up into the air as fast as her wings can take her. It's quite exciting that you're about to see the near impossible trick being performed in person. Rainbow Dash is flying up in the sky, appearing to move quite slowly from afar. A few short seconds pass and she's already picking up quite an amount of speed. You stare at the distant rainbow pegasus in anticipation. When she gets to what should have been the rainboom, she seems to have abruptly stopped moving. A second later, you can see that she is flying backward out of control. She seems to be trying to control herself, but the reaction was too strong. As fast as you can, you go sprinting towards her direction, but her speed is too fast for you. Eventually, she crashes into the ground, making a sound that can be heard from as far away as you are, which is a rather large distance.

You run up to Dashie with as much speed as possible. "Dashie! Are you OK?"

"I'm fine," she says, but you can still see a lot of pain in her eyes.

"No. You're not fine. You just crashed into the ground at very high speed. You're lucky you only seriously injured your wings." Rainbow looks at you in confusion.

"Whatever, I'm pretty sure I can still fly at least alright." Rainbow Dash gets up from lying down, about to attempt to fly. You attempt to stop her, but she jumps up and attempts to fly. Dash gives a surprised expression and lets out a light yelp.

"Did you really just try and fly on those wings?" She shrugs and smiles at you awkwardly. You slowly walk up to the pegasus and pick her up. "I'm sorry, Dashie, but I am going to have to carry you to my house." She gives a disgustedly surprised look at you and then looks annoyed in the distance.

Rainbow Dash looks back at you, her expression looking a bit more neutral. "You know I can walk, right?"

"Maybe you can walk, but I'm not going to let you." Dash looks confused at you. "You need some time to rest after your injury."

"Ugh, fine." She sighs again, folding her arms and looking annoyed.

Upon arriving at your house, you tuck Rainbow in your comfortable bed. "Dashie, I'm sorry I had to carry you to my house and that it bothered you. I couldn't just let you walk while feeling the pain of your injury."

Dashie rolls her eyes. "It's fine, I guess." She turns over to her side and closes her eyes.

"I'll be back, I'm going to make you some cider." Surprised, she opens her eyes and looks at you. You lightly giggle at the face she just gave you.

You return to your room upstairs with a large glass of cider, just about enough that you are sure will satisfy her. "Thanks," she says. You place the glass on your nightstand and Rainbow takes a sip of the beverage.

"Hey, um, Dashie?" You accidentally sounded a bit too shy as you said that. Rainbow puts her glass down and pays attention.

"What, Anon?" She looks somewhat confused and uncomfortable considering how you asked.

"I was thinking maybe we could play some video games, considering there's not really anything else to do?" Her face returned to neutral as soon as you mentioned video games.

"Sure, I guess. Let's check what games you have here." She looks through your stack of video game cartridges and finds one with the familiar yellow mascot that everyone knows as PAC-MAN. "Hey, I actually kind of enjoy this game." She looks at you as she holds her hoof on the cartridge. "We should play this one." Like she always does, she manages to be cute by doing or saying such a simple thing. You give Dashie a smile before you take the cartridge and put it in the console. You boot it up and the game starts. You click the two player mode and give Rainbow Dash the player 1 controller. You take the player 2 controller and watch Rainbow play the first round.

Dashie gets to round two and still hasn't died yet. She really meant it when she said she enjoyed the game, because she seems to be quite good at it. Slowly, you wrap your arm around Rainbow Dash to offer some physical comfort. She glances at you for a split second, but it's not enough to distract her from the game. She gets to round three, moves around a little bit, and accidentally hits Clyde in the bottom left corner. "What? That was dumb." You can't help but grin at her cute reaction. Your set of lives show up on the screen as it's your turn to play. Right arm around Dash, left arm using the joystick.

After dying several times and getting a game over quite quickly, Rainbow Dash continues to play the game and get far in it. You've noticed that her body is pressed harder against you than when you initially put your arm around her. Her body is slanted towards yours and her head is resting on you. She gets to level five and accidentally hits a ghost right after it turns normal again, resulting in a game over. "Lame, to be honest." Unexpectedly, Rainbow lends the controller over to you. "I think I just wanna watch you play for now." You're a little bit bored of PAC-MAN right now, but Dashie wants to watch you play and it wouldn't hurt that bad to give her what she wants. You press on the single player mode and start playing the game, dying a lot to the ghosts scattered across the maze.

During the seventh or so game of you failing miserably on level one and occasionally getting to level two with one life left, Dashie turns her body to face you. She plants her face in the side of your body, and you can swear that you felt and saw a tiny nuzzle. "Dashie, are you tired?" you ask with a soft tone of voice.

"Mm-hmm..." she responds slowly and quietly. You smile and lightly laugh as you begin gently scratching her soft back from top to bottom with both hands. She takes a deep inhale and breathes out with a quiet, lengthy hum.

"Hold up, Dashie, I need to go turn off the game and the lights." You get up from the bed and quickly turn off the TV, the console, and the lights. You walk back to your bed and remove your shirt so that she can feel all of your warmth. You get in bed, putting the two of you under the covers. You grab Dashie and pull her body close to yours, forming an embrace around her entire body. Her back is touching your stomach, allowing you to gently scratch her belly with both hands in circles. Rainbow Dash verbally express her feeling of pleasure with a quiet moan. "Dashie, you're so cute..."

"A-Am I really..?" She wiggles deeper into you and curls up into a ball. You take your left hand and run your fingers through her mane, while continuing to scratch her stomach while she's curled up.

"Most certainly. I've never seen anything as adorable as you before." She responds with a quiet, cute laugh. You move your head towards the pegasus and cover the top of her head with your chin, giving her a small nuzzle. Dash seems to absolutely love the feeling of all of your touching combined. It must feel amazing to be scratched in the belly and nuzzled while in someone's embrace all at the same time, and Rainbow here is feeling it right now. "Does it feel good?" you ask, pausing your nuzzle. She answers with a relaxed hum. You laugh at how cute she is acting.

After a couple of minutes, Rainbow Dash begins to turn around and faces towards you. "C-Could you maybe preen my wings..?" She removes the blanket from herself and unfurls her wings. "Just make sure to be gentle. They still hurt." You give the pony a smile as you gently place both hands on one wing and slowly rub up and down. "Y-Yes... Just like that..." You spend one minute on one wing, one minute on the other. Her face is planted deep into your chest while she takes deep, relaxed breaths. When you're finished preening her wings, you scratch her back from the bottom upward. Her cute behavior alone would be enough to completely turn a bad day around. You switch to a hug and briefly give her a kiss on the top of her head.

After a couple of minutes of hugging her, she seems to have fallen asleep by now. All that's coming out of the mare is deep breathing and she hasn't been moving at all. It's the cutest of Dashie you've ever seen, falling asleep while you're giving her a warm hug for a long while. It's quite a few hours from nighttime, but you haven't kept track of time. Regardless, you decide you should go to sleep too. You're too relaxed to get up.

"Sweet dreams, Dashie..."
