Prologue

We heard you have been in the Castle while we were gone, and duly appreciate your vigilant presence there during our absence. I imagine you may have been greatly troubled by now, and even more greatly disturbed, if the news of recent events has reached the Ponyville Express already. But rest assured, we are all perfectly safe and well, many thanks to Starlight Glimmer, Discord, Thorax and Trixie. If not for their valiant efforts to rescue us, Chrysalis and the Changelings would have successfully ruled Equestria without anypony's notice. Chrysalis has been overthrown, and now Thorax governs his fellow Changelings. Chrysalis, however, still managed to escape, leaving no trail or clue to her current whereabouts behind. Therefore, I ask that you two please remain in the Tree Palace, until our return. We will explain everything, in further detail. Many Thanks.
Your Friend,
Twilight Sparkle
Having completed the written parchment dictated for her, she watched on to see her number one assistant send it bursting into bright, green flames.
"Thank you, Spike." Then looking up to her friends, Twilight happily spoke, "Now that they have been informed, we can return to the festivities."
"Did'cha tell 'em what happened, and why we were gone," said Applejack.
"Yep," Twilight nodded.
"And you did inform them of Chrysalis' escape, asking them to remain at the castle," Rarity inquired.
"I did."
"And you did tell them where we were, and how long we'll be gone, right," said Rainbow with a tilted brow. All observed her response, after hearing what she had written aloud.
"Yes, I- oh." She flattened her ears in realization as well, as her intended purpose was not fully actualized. "No. I just told them to keep an eye on things until we returned. I can't believe I let something like that slip past me."
"It's okay, Twilight," Fluttershy softly offered, "I think it's really hard to keep track of certain things, right now." She then shuddered, as she added, "Especially after what we've all just been through."
"Yeah, no kidding," sharply exclaimed Pinkie, "After being foalnapped by a bunch of Changelings, along with Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, and Cadence, Shining Armor and Flurry Heart, and hanging upside down in some icky, gooey green cocoon thingies, it's no wonder our brains are a little bit hizzy-dizzy!"
"Yep," nodded the orange farm mare, "It's sure been quite the hazy time tryin' tah get back our bearings."
"Which is precisely why Starlight offered this opportunity to share in this Sunset Celebration with her," added the white Unicorn. "And I say that is precisely what we should do, from here on out."
"I agree," said the yellow Pegasus lightly, "You can always let them know where we are in another letter, later. Or tell them, when we get back."
"Just be sure not to forget again," Rainbow Dash smirked, prompting the lavender alicorn to chuckle.
"You're right," she nodded, "So long as I just remind myself to do so, I shouldn't have to worry too much. Now's the time to relax and spend some time recovering with friends."
"Absotutlefabulively," the rosy Earth Pony beamed, starting to dig into the tray of delicacies on their table, "So less talking, and more funnying!"
"Heh, took the words right out of my mouth, Pinkie Pie. Sort of." Although she could not agree more with what has been exchanged among her friends, Rainbow still felt a slight tinge of animosity for what happened. Of course, everypony present was caught off-guard, and there was no way for anypony to place fault onto each other, even themselves. However, Dash was sorely tempted to give herself a means of exerting her own sense of regret, as she was sure others like Twilight and Applejack might have. Perhaps not Rarity and Fluttershy. Pinkie Pie might not go that way, either. But, for now, all she could do was simply accept this as it was, and carry on for the day, until there is an opportunity to address such an issue. After all, they can accomplish and tackle any problem that comes their path. What could possibly go wrong now? Shrugging out the anxiety within, the light blue mare hovered to the food next to her friends, joining them in the festivities. She then heard an "AAAHHH!" and a squeeeee coming their way. It was all while a blue and purple blur and Discord, atop a winged pig each, rushed past the group. They all observed this spectacle unfold, with great confusion. "Somepony's really going to have to catch us up on what we missed."
