Chosen is a young centaur, a capable youth, the only son of the chieftain of the Longrunner tribe. His father, Martuk, is strong and brave, and his teacher, Gori, is old and wise. Chosen is growing to be a fine warrior, and a better shaman, someone who uses the elements.

When their home is destroyed by invaders that no one can name, they find an escape. An old ritual, and a portal to elsewhere.

Equestria is a peaceful land, far removed from their own. Centaurs used to the harsher elements of life are very different from the peaceful ponies, but perhaps things might have gone well. A few misunderstandings, a tense first encounter, but everything might have gone well.

But strange things happen. Ponies and centaur seemingly trying to cause a conflict. Where understanding has not been established, distrust and hate are easy to foster. Will peace be found, or will the two groups never be reconciled, the fields between them stained with the blood of the fallen?
