Celestia and Luna both wore ornate white and black metal armor, embossed with their own symbols of their bodies.
On the other end of the room stood a tall, black figure. She was Queen Chrysalis, the changeling queen. Her kind fed off love, tricking ponies to fill themselves up with emotions.
Of course, changelings were anyways heartless, hence why they fed on love, but oddly Chrysalis was an exception, maybe had to do with her being royalty. It was her solo infiltration of the castle that caused the currently standstill battle.
“You will never win against my newfound power!” Chrysalis cackled. She rose into the air, a ball of purple and black light swirling around her, encasing her in dark magic.
When it dimmed and she lowered to the ground, she was very different.
Her mane was wavy, not unlike Celestia and Luna's. Her exoskeleton was white, and her eyes spewed green flame.
“No… Chrysalis, dark magic will destroy you!” Celestia yelled. Even though the princess wanted nothing more than her demise, she didn't want to kill Chrysalis to bring down the changelings, but it may be her only decision at that point.
Luna stepped forward. “If you're going to use dark magic, we shall both retaliate with all our might!” she boomed at the changeling queen, who took a step back at the sudden rush of wind.
“No matter! You have nothing against dark magic!”
“Oh, I'm just gonna take you on!” Luna charged her horn and sped towards Chrysalis, who put up a shield as Luna shot a large beam of magic while flying. Luna pulled sharply up and into the sky while Celestia threw magic bolts at Chrysalis.
“This fight is going to last forever!” Chrysalis said, cackling with laughter as the the dark magic lit up her horn. She ejected a huge amount of magical power, pummeling Celestia's shield and making her fly back against the wall, cracking it.
“Not forever!” Luna yelled, managing to score a hit on the changeling as she flew full force into the back of her skull.
The dark magic kept Chrysalis conscious as she staggered and tripped. “Agh!” she squealed as she fell down a stair.
Celestia held no mercy. She sent bolt after bolt at her, unfortunately being expertly deflected by Chrysalis’ conjured shield.
Luna held a sword as she charged the changeling with her wings. She was about to strike her when the unthinkable happened.
Chrysalis ducked, and threw her head up, striking Luna’s exposed underside as she flew above her.
Luna screamed in pain as Chrysalis’ horn tore through fur, leaving a large gash down the entirety of her belly.
Luna crash landed and slid across the floor. Blood left a trail as she spun, horrifyingly spilling bones and guts as she tumbled.
Chrysalis suddenly teleported away as Celestia rushed to Luna's side. The blue alicorn was breathing heavily, her now sliced open underside rattling with each breath. Her blood began to pool at the site of her wound.
“Luna!” Celestia yelled at her. The teal eyes of the princess fixed on Celestia, a hoof shakily reaching to her as she caressed her cheek.
“I love you, Celestia…” her eyes were beginning to cloud over already.
“Luna… no… Don't go, please!” Celestia begged as Luna's arm dropped and she heaved multiple times, blood spilling from the wound. Luna's eyes were losing their teal hue, turning gray as her wings spasmed and flopped outstretched.
“LUNA!” Celestia started to weep, her tears falling into the spilled blood staining her fur. “DON'T GO!”
Celestia knew she was gone. Her sister she loved, killed by the dark magic of…
Chrysalis. Oh how she hated that vermin. Oh how she could enjoy locking her in a cell and torturing her for her immortal eternity!
But no. She must go.
No more hurting Luna. Celestia caressed Luna's cheek with her hoof, closed her eyelids with it and magically moved her to where it looked like she was sleeping peacefully.
That came later. Celestia sadly smiled at the imagery of her peaceful sister sleeping despite the horror that laid in the background.
“So, now the true you comes out, hm?” Celestia snapped out of her stupor when she heard the voice of Luna. She turned around and to her horror there stood Luna, but not the real one. It was no doubt Queen Chrysalis.
“YOU KILLED HER!” Celestia bellowed with her royal voice. Her mane started to billow faster, growing edges. The pink color started to become the prominent color before deepening to a shade of red and orange.
There was a resounding boom as her hair started flying upward, her head engulfed in a head of flame.
Chrysalis reverted to her original form, gulping at the furious princess.
“YOUR TIME HAS COME, CHRYSALIS,” said Celestia, her breaths coming ragged.
Chrysalis whimpered as Celestia shot toward her, breaking through her shield like it was butter.
“DRAW!” yelled Celestia as she slammed full force into Chrysalis, knocking her back into a pillar and cracking the exoskeleton on her back.
Chrysalis cried in agony, her coat returning to black as Celestia brought her fist to the changelings jaw.
Fractured in a punch, Celestia began pummeling the queen with no mercy, enjoying the cries of pain as the carapace cracked and she started to seep changeling blood.
“Stop! Please stop!” Chrysalis begged, much to the ignorance of Celestia as flames licked at her hair, sending sparks flying.
The onslaught stopped suddenly. Celestia evilly smiled and cackled with a voice not her own.
“You do not know true pain, Chrysalis. It's time you find out.” Celestia's horn lit up and she backed up as a small changeling suddenly fizzled in.
“Mummy!” The small changeling squealed with delight in a young boy's voice as it hobbled to his mother.
“Mummy, you're hurt!” he said, stroking the cracked carapace.
“No. Please. Anything else but…”
The changeling child screamed as he was picked up by Celestia's magic. She shoved her face into the little foal’s.
“Your mother caused me pain. I'm sorry, but it's your turn.”
“Mummy, what is happen-” his screams cut him short as he was slammed into the ground, breaking his fragile wings as a large crack ran through his shell.
“Celestia, stop! You're a monster!” Chrysalis cried as her child was slammed repeatedly by a monstrosity that wasn't Celestia herself.
“Mummy, please help-” he tried to say, but he was cut off as he screamed again, one of his legs snapping off his body.
Chrysalis felt her body convulse as she tried to move, her abdomen not letting het get up from the slumped spot she sat. She could only try to avert her eyes.
“MUMMY PLEASE!” The child cried out as the onslaught continued. Chrysalis could not do anything but feel her tears and hearing her sobs.
The child gargled as his exoskeleton was held together by very little. Celestia threw him to Chrysalis.
“Mummy, why can't you help me?” Chrysalis felt her heart break at the sight of her child leaking tears, looking at her like she betrayed him.
“I'm sorry…” she sobbed as his endoskeleton finally snapped, his entire body splitting in half and spilling out the changeling digestive system. She held the child's body as he gurgled the word ‘mother’ over and over again until his life completely faded.
Celestia stood with a smug smile on her face. “Now you realize what you did wrong.”
Chrysalis looked at her. “You didn't have to do this. Please, just kill me now!” She laid her head on the exoskeleton of her child. He was only a few years old, the only changeling child to be born as a result of proper impregnating instead of egg and larvae birth. But here he was, dead in her arms, a permanent look of betrayal affixed on his slack-jawed face. Her pride and joy, dead.
She looked at Celestia. “You aren't like this. What are you?”
The flame headed equine chuckled. “I am Celestia. You know that.”
Chrysalis shook her head. “I'm sorry! Please, just don't let me suffer!”
Celestia laughed. “Oh no. Looks like somepony’s begging to be played with.”
“No! Please, no!” Chrysalis felt the body yanked from her legs.
Suddenly Celestia reached down a hoof and slipped it into one of the cracks in her exoskeleton. Chrysalis, much to the grim pleasure of Celestia, started screaming when her literal inside were being twisted. She felt muscle contract unwillingly, her guts shake around and twist, and she felt the slow beating heart being forcefully contracted. She tightly gripped the two halves of the young changeling as the pain sent her into overdrive.
The onslaught stopped, Chrysalis’ throat already strep from the continuous scream of agony.
“Don't think we are done yet,” Celestia laughed. “I think we are due for a special trip.” She punched Chrysalis in the nose hard and she teleported into the changeling caves.
“It's the princess of Equestria,” the changelings seethed, “and she had brought our queen.”
Suddenly an uproar of many voices.
“Pathetic!”
“Beaten by a lowly pony!”
“She doesn't deserve to be queen!”
Chrysalis closed her eyes and tried to flip her ears down. She felt the verbal stoning, with each jibe sending a sting through her.
“She let the chosen child die!”
“Our queen should be fed off of before she leaves us forever!” A changeling seethed.
Suddenly a great pain engulfed Chrysalis as she felt a life essence leave her. Changelings feed on love, but how does Chrysalis have any is beyond her.
But the substance leaked out of the cracks in her shell. When she was empty she laid down and sobbed, feeling her mind even slipping from the memories of her own child.
The changelings then swarmed her. The punches and slices fell hard, her carapace and exoskeleton threatening to collapse.
She lost consciousness.
Chrysalis’ eyes snapped open to find a familiar shell on her lap. She agonizingly reached out to it and looked.
It was the sleeping form of her son, but his body wasn't breathing like it should.
She looked carefully to find a magical seal along the place where he was torn in half.
Her son was dead, regardless. She felt her tears and dried blood mix. The changeling child had showed a feeling of betrayal toward his mother as he was violently killed.
Where was she? She looked around to find herself in a stone cave. Over on the far right was a cage door.
Great, she was in a prison.
The cage door swung open and in walked a familiar white alicorn. Her hair was no longer aflame and she wore a stern expression. Her magic was carrying something.
Chrysalis instinctively backed into a small corner, her eyes displaying unending fear for the tyrant.
Celestia dropped the cloth and yanked it, revealing the body of Princess Luna.
Celestia said one word. “Explain.”
She cradled the tiny body of the changeling the entire time, as if it was asleep. The tears fell freely, the salty liquid splashing against the carapace of the dead boy. She shook her head at Celestia, gazing at her son.
“I love you sweetie,” she whispered, gazing into the withered eyes.
“Chrysalis…” Celestia began.
“I know. Just kill me, I think even the death sentence cannot sum up how much I want to leave,” Chrysalis interrupted.
“Chrysalis. I'm so sorry.” Celestia crouched down next to the broken body of Luna, her gash sewn with a navy blue yarn.
Celestia felt the choke, and she choked a sob as she remembered what Luna said as she died.
I love you.
The words meant dear, and it also means a great deal of pain.
Both sides had won and lost.
That night, Chrysalis hung herself using the sheet Celestia had left behind. When a pony found her he was shocked to find her permanently fixed in a position holding her broken child.
There was writing in the ground.
To whoever finds this,
I couldn't stand losing my child. I can't return to my hive. I'm blamed for everything. It's just easier to end it.
I love my child to no end, and Celestia took it from me. She killed him in front of my eyes, and as a result of being unable to help him, I lost his trust in me as he died. His last words were literally “Why, mummy”.
Celestia is a tyrant. She killed my daughter. She deserved to die.
But anyways, I don't care. I'll be living with my son, happily living in the afterlife.
