2 - A Duel Academy Welcome (Part 1) *Edited*

“SLIFER RED?!” Sunset gaped at the woman in front of her, holding aloft the red blazer as if a piece of moldy cheese had been dropped on her lap. She had nothing against the Slifer dorm itself, but the stigma it held to the students that inhabited it was widely known and Sunset had been certain that she had been a shoo in for Obelisk Blue.

The woman ducked behind her clipboard in surprise, “I-I’m sorry, Miss Shimmer, but the placement papers clearly have you marked for the Slifer Dormitory. There’s nothing I can do for what’s already been put in stone. If you do believe this is a mistake, you can speak to the Chancellor tomorrow.” She offered with a small smile, “She’s not taking any meetings today though.”

Sunset took a breath, swinging the blazer over her shoulder. She’d wear it, but she didn’t have to like it. “Fine. I’ll talk to her tomorrow then.” She snipped, mood certainly soured by that point. Speaking of which…

“Slifer, huh? Surprising all things considered.” Another girl spoke up, leaning against a rack of textbooks, shuffling through a pack of cards. Her yellow blazer gave away her rank easily enough, the bluish eyeshadow having an odd contrast to her freckled yellow skin.

“And you are?” Sunset raised an eyebrow, looking the Ra up and down, “Not that I don’t find it ‘surprising’ myself, but why do you say that?”

“Name’s Sour Sweet. 3rd year Ra.” She nodded a hello, face staying in a neutral expression, “I just figured you’d be an Obelisk with your connections.”

“My connections?” Sunset sneered, “I don’t kn-”

“Stanza. Your older sister.” Sour cut her off, spelling it out, “She’s an Obelisk and probably the best of them. Kinda shocked she didn’t try and get you into a better dorm, Ra at least.”

“I don’t need her help to get into Duel Academy!” Sunset snapped.

Sour narrowed her eyes, “Feh, touchy. Self-reliant or sibling rivalry?”

“Noneya.” Sunset fired back, glaring heavily now.

“Oh, keeping it a mystery are we? Suppose I’ll have to guess.” Sour smirked, eyeing Shimmer back now, “You the jealous type? Stanza’s name was all over regionals before she got into Blue. No prep school at all. Now here you are as a Slifer. You must be burning with envy.”

“Her placement has nothing to do with how I feel about this!” Sunset had made up her mind. She definitely didn’t like this ‘Sour Sweet’.

“Are you sure about that? You seem rather upset, don’t you?” Sour smirked, “Stop acting like you aren’t getting defensive.”

My beef with my sister is none of your concern!”

“Fine, fine.” She waved dismissively, “You better get into uniform and down to classroom 101 soon, newbie. Celestia gives her introduction speech in twenty.” Sour pocketed her cards before giving a wave, “Maybe we can duel sometime. A Sunset seems interesting enough. Besides, I could use a launchpad to Obelisk.” A smirk splayed itself across her face as she left.

“Asshole.” Sunset muttered to herself, stomping off down the hall, throwing the blazer around her back and leaving it open. At least she’d be keeping her style during her stay in Slifer.

“You look like you’re having a day.” Spike greeted her, entering from another conjoining hallway. He eyed the blazer that was much like his own, “So...Slifer huh?”

“Yeah.” She frowned.

“Hey, you’re still here, right?” Spike pointed out, “And it's not like you’ll be stuck in Red. You can always advance when exams come ‘round.” He smiled up at her, trying to encourage his fellow Slifer.

Sunset let out a long sigh, “I suppose, but even still, I intend to find out why I was ranked so low for doing so well!” She nodded, taking the lead with a certainty to her stride.

Spike sighed, shrugging. Placement didn’t matter too much in his mind, strange as the situation was. The two exited the hallway into one of the larger classrooms of the senior wing, dispensing them both into a room of chatting students, all standing before a large monitor with the school logo spinning on screen.

The screen didn’t stay blank for much longer, shifting as soft, upbeat music began to play. A smartly dressed woman in a pristine white suit appeared on, smile on her face and her hair flowing in an ethereal wi-no wait, that was the desk fan, “Welcome, students, to another year at Duel Academy. Though to many of you, your first year. As always, we honor you all for advancing in the dueling world, and welcome our aspiring new additions for being granted entry to our school. I am Chancellor Celestia, and I expect nothing but excellence from all of you. Do note, no matter what dorm you’ve placed, I hope you find your accommodations to your liking and your stay to be an enjoyable one. Now, I don’t wish to keep you long from tonight’s greeting dinner. Good luck, and good dueling!” Short, sweet, and to the point. Most were hungry anyway.

“Huh...I kinda expected more.” Spike muttered.

“Well it is nearly 5 o’clock.” Sunset stretched, “Long boat ride, had to check in, and grab the uniform and such.” She shrugged, “Guess she wanted to keep it to the point for us. Dorm orientation is after this, right?”

Spike nodded, “From what I remember, yeah. Twilight mentioned it to me back when she was in her freshman year. That’s where I’ve got most of my information.”

“Twilight?” She glanced at Spike curiously, “Who’s that?”

“My older sister. She recently graduated early and is mentoring under the Chancellor.”

“I see.” Sunset nodded over to him. “What’s she like?”

“Spastic. Nerdy. Kinda OCD.” Spike snickered childishly, earning a confused look from Sunset, “Eh. She’s my older sister. I can get away with it. Besides, its out of love.” He added with a light chuckle.

Sunset shrugged, “Eh, I guess. Not exactly sure if I can relate there.”

“Really? Oh, that’s rough. Twilight and I are pretty close. Sorry to hear” Spike nodded with a smile.

“Don’t be.” She waved it off as she looked up at the sky, glass doors sliding open to let them out of the main campus. The Slifer dorm was on the far side of the island, by the eastern by the harbor. Translation: that meant a long walk.

They’d walk in relative silence after that for a good while, eventually coming off of the dirt path to see a small building in the distance, “...that’s not the dorm. Right?” She deadpanned at the toolshed of a building. “It can’t be.”

“Yeah…” Spike let out a sigh, “It is.”

Sunset hung her head, “Come on, may as well get settled in. See you later, Spike?”

“Yup, see ya.” He attempted to give her a comforting smile.

She nodded waving back, “See ya.” She trudged up the stairs, walking along the balcony, and keeping an eye open for her door number. She’d eventually find it all the way at the end of balcony. Room 439. With another annoyed sigh, she pulled out the key she’d been handed, along with every other ID-related item, at the service desk earlier. Turning the lock, she’d walk inside.

Almost immediately, someone hit her with a pillow, “Whoops, sorry!” Came the apology. Over on the bottom bunk sat a girl with dark purple skin and a messy head of rust red hair decorated with a cyan stripe, “You my new roomie? I’m Free Runner.”

“Sunset Shimmer.” She replied, picking up the offending item, “It was just a pillow. No worries.” Tossing it back over, she dropped her bags by the desk and looked over at Free Runner, “Freshman?”

“Sophomore.” She snickered, “Don’t care too much for the work, but I scrape by. I’m here for the dueling mostly. If you’re good enough at that, the school work can come second.”

“I suppose that’s fair. I suppose that the ‘duel’ of ‘Duel Academy’ does come first.” Sunset nodded, chuckling to herself.

“Any place owned by Kaiba has dueling come first.”” Free Runner grinned, “So, what brings you to the island?”

“I just...really like dueling.” She offered in response, shrugging lightly. Technically true, even if this was the first time she had touched her deck in ages.

“Well I guess there’s no better place than good ol’ DA!” Free Runner grinned over at her, “So, the welcome meal is in a few minutes. Thankfully, its for all students, returning too. Therefore, you get to bask in my presence as we eat.” She joked, wide grin on her face.

“Poor me.” Sunset teased with a smirk.

Free smiled, “Yeah. You n’ me’ll get along fine.” She waved, gesturing for Sunset to follow her out the door.

Sunset followed, looking around at everything, “Seriously. They put us in this junkheap?”

“Welcome to Slifer Red, the dorm representing the God Card of Yugi Muto! AKA...Kaiba’s rival.” Free chuckled, “One and one make two.”

“Sadly.” A new voice spoke up as two others joined them, standing outside the still open door.

“Star, hey.” Sunset smiled, “Who’s this?”

Star Cast gestured to the young redhead next to her, “Rev Counter. My roommate and nothing more I swear.”

The white skinned man rolled his eyes, “Sadly she’s in a relationship with her Rail Cannon, so I’m out of luck. Pleasure to meet you.” He reached out to shake Sunset’s hand. “Hey to you too, Free. Good to see you not expelled.”

Sunset chuckled, “Yeah, pleasure. I could tell she was too obsessed over those trains to have a boyfriend.”

“You’ll never know what Dora and I have between us!” Star huffed, upturning her nose and walking ahead before she could crack up.

“You two are a hoot.” Free laughed, “Gonna be nice havin’ one more of ya on the island.” She gave the black haired man a friendly punch in the shoulder.

“I’d hope so. It's certainly is for me thus far.” He nodded in agreement.

Sunset chuckled. Things were looking nice so far. No bad run ins at all yet and she was already building a small group of friends. Even if she had deeper motives for being here, at least she could enjoy her time here for a bit too.

The group would follow Star into the building’s cafeteria, fair-sized room where a rat of some sort slept on a stool at the front. Of course, the students chose to comment on such.

“Oh man! I knew Kaiba didn’t like Slifer, but making our headmaster a rat?!”

“Hey, look on the brightside, lax rules!”

“What am I gonna tell my parents about where my tuition is going?!”

“Tiberius is not a rat.” Came the reply from a doorway to the left. A taller woman with violet skin and a loose blue ponytail stepped in, “He’s an opossum and the pet of a close friend of mine!” She assured with a light frown, casting a glance around the room. Several heads ducked down at her arrival, “I am your headmaster, Lunar Dreams. Though really I prefer you simply call me Dream, and-”

“Wouldn’t that be headmistress?” A southern voice piped up. Dream sent an annoyed glance in that direction, “...sorry.”

“As I was saying, I-”

“OOMF NOM NOM!” Free Runner had decided Dream’s speech had already gone on too long and had bitten into her welcome meal as it was placed front of her, “What?”

The whole room was looking her way. Freshman stared with a look of abject horror while older students looked more amused. Dream just sighed, “Who am I kidding? It's been a long day, hasn’t? Lets just eat!” That earned a rallying cry from everyone.

Sunset chuckled, “Interesting headmaster.”

“Dream’s pretty fun. Don’t let the cheesy intimidation scare you.” Free assured, “She just likes messing with people.”

“That right, Miss Runner?” Dream materialized next to them with a judging look.

“...yep!”

The woman sighed, clearly used to this, “Even if I’ll be skipping the welcome speech again, I’d like to give you a personal welcome, Miss Shimmer. I recall following your duels through regionals for a time.”

Sunset had started off smiling, but it dipped into a small frown at that, “Is that right?”

“Is there something the matter? Between your sister and yourself, you made a rather large impact during the Domino-”

“I’d rather not talk about that.” Sunset cut her off, grimacing. That event would follow her to her grave it seemed. Several would, and she had the cards to prove it.

“Oh, I see. My apologies? Well, even if you’d rather not speak about it, thank you for it.” She smiled, a little confused, heading back over to Tiberius and scratching his head.

“Uhh...what?” Free blinked with the others.

“I...really don’t want to discuss what she meant.” Sunset grimaced, “It was a long time ago and…” She just shook her head.

“Well, alright then.” Star nodded, “Regionals, huh?”

“Heh.” Sunset smiled now, chuckling lightly, “Yeah. Started making rounds and winning duels at the card shop tournaments and things kinda scaled. Almost had a chance to go full pro, but...life.” They all seemed to buy the excuse, Star nodding sadly at it.

“Sister?” Free tried now, “You have a sister.”

Another frown, this one both annoyed and laden with guilt, “Yeah…” Seeing that they all leaned in even after she had stopped, Sunset sighed and continued, “Her name’s Stanza, she’s my older-”

“Stanza?!” Rev blinked in shock, thankfully keeping her voice reasonably quiet. “Sunset Stanza’s your sister?!”

“Well, gee, I see the resemblance now.” Free whistled, Star nodding in agreement.

“Don’t get too excited.” She brushed it off, “We haven't seen each other in more than two years. Haven’t spoken in a little longer.”

“Wha-why?” Runner asked, looking concerned.

“We had a...disagreement, last time we talked. I don’t wanna go into it.”

“We not a high enough level to unlock your backstory?” Rev joked. That earned him a simmering glare, causing him to raise is hands in an apologetic look to the fiery girl.

“Look, just know that between Stanza and I, there’s some bad blood that’s not gonna be wiped away easily. However, I’m not here for her. I’m here for me, so can we not focus on her?” Sunset sighed, looking around almost pleadingly.

The others all gave a friendly smile and nodded, “Yeah, sorry for prying.” Rev apologized, “I’m sure we’re all in agreement when I say we’ll back off there. Besides, we wanna know you, not her.”

“Totally. Slifer’s stick together.” Free Runner laughed, nodding. That was loud enough to earn a cheer and makeshift toast from several others.

Sunset gave a nod and smile, cheering along with them all. It’d probably be a bad idea to mention that she had wanted to get into Obelisk from the start. She simply took a sip from her drink, a warm tea, and put it out of her mind. Dinner would go fine from there, the group slipping into some friendly banter over the food, classmates, and whether or not Dragon Rulers did anything wrong.

It would take about a half hour or so for most students and Dream to start filing out, some deciding to hit the sack early tonight and some to finish unpacking or enjoy their rooms. Sunset would notice that Spike had moved to hurry out after getting locked talking with a silver-haired girl. “Spike-?”

“Gotta go!” He called, pushing his way out the door in a rush. Sunset and the others wouldn’t be too concerned until the girl started followed after him.

“Hey!” Rev called, standing up, to block her path, “What’re you doin’ to him, Trixie?”

The blue girl sneered, “Trixie was simply talking to one of our freshman.”

Rev stared at her, grabbing her by the arm and whispering angrily to her, “The Chancellor banned ante rules and you know it!”

Trixie sneered and yanked her arm back with a huff, “Trixie doesn't know what you’re talking about!” She tilted her nose up and moved to step around him. He only mirrored her movement and blocked her.

“I’m serious, Lulamoon.” He grit his teeth at her, “You’re not dueling the kid for an ante.”

“Ante?” Star blinked in confusion.

“Was a rule put in place during the Battle City tournament way back in the day.” Sunset explained with a frown, “It's not really illegal, but a lot of duelists look down on it. You put your rarest card on the line.”

“He does not deserve to have a card like that!” Trixie growled. It was more or less just them left in the lunchroom. “Trixie has been stuck in Slifer for a year, she deserves a chance out!”

“You already got one. You lost to Sour Sweet.” Rev reminded with a frown. “A card like what? Like this?” He flipped a white bordered card from his deck box, a white hydra centered on the art.

Sunset’s eyes widened slightly, ‘Trish. Not bad.’
Trixie managed to look even more annoyed, “So you have one too?” She grit her teeth in annoyance, pausing and letting a devious smile grow across her face. “Ok...fine. Trixie won’t go after Spike, if you duel her instead!”

Sunset frowned at the girl. This Trixie seemed like real bad news. Especially with challenging Ante Duels. This was a bad idea.

“Fine. I assume you want Trishula?” Rev frowned back at her.

“Yes, though if you somehow win, Trixie will give you her dragon.” Trixie gave a pompous smirk, clearly not expecting much from her fellow Slifer.

“I’m not interested in whatever card you’re packing, Trixie.” Rev shook his head, “My deck’s fine as is. I just want you back off the poor kid. Now come on, let’s get outside so we can start and end this.”

“Fine by Trixie.” She smirked, following him outside.

The group still at the table looked at each other, “So…” Free Runner whistled, “We should...probably go after them and watch?”

“Gonna say yes.” Star nodded, hopping up and darting out, Sunset and Runner soon joining them all.

Both Trixie and Rev had taken their places opposite each other on the grassy field, “Let’s duel!” They both proclaimed.

Trixie: 8000

Rev: 8000

“Trixie will be going first!” The blue girl smirked, both duelists drawing their initial hands of five cards. “And Trixie starts by summoning Rescue Rabbit!” (4/300/100) She declared, a small white and gray bunny with a yellow helmet and goggles hopping onto the field, “By removing it from play, I can special summon two level 4 or lower monsters from my deck!”

Sunset grit her teeth, “She could bust out a rank 4 Xyz on her first move.”

“Trixie summons two Thousand-Eyes Idols in defense mode!” (1/0/0)

“What?” Sunset blinked as the many-eyed green things appeared on the field.

“D-did you just summon two level 1 Idols with Rescue Rabbit?” Rev blinked in confusion.

“Yes! Trixie did. Now Trixie’s equipping one of her idols with a wondrous spell card, Wonder Wand!” A wooden staff tipped with a large green crystal appeared in one of the spellcasters’ hands, “This raises his attack by 500.”

“But that’s only 500 total, and its in defense mode!” Rev called back, feeling more and more confused.

“It's also the first turn.” Sunset deadpanned, trying to figure out Trixie’s game plan.

“Well then it's a good thing that Wonder Wand has another ability! By sending both it and the monster equipped with it to the graveyard, Trixie can draw two cards!”

“Cause that’s worth ditching a monster for.” Free deadpanned.

“She’s gonna lose them anyway.” Sunset shook her head, “Rescue Rabbit only lets them stay for one turn. Why would she…”

“Trixie ends her turn!” With the drawing of two cards, the other spellcaster detonated, leaving her field bare.

“Shouldn’t have left yourself defenseless.” Rev shook his head, drawing his first card, ‘Oh what a hand!’ He grinned, “I’ll start off with Emergency Teleport to special summon from my deck: Super Quantum Blue Layer!” The armored psychic appeared from a flash of blue, taking up a defensive position across from Trixie. (3/1200/2000) “But let’s not stop there, I now normal summon Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice!” The the eyed blue pyramid teleported in next, three yellow balls of light circling it. (3/300/1500)

‘Speedroids?’ Sunset raised a brow, ‘Interesting choice.’

“And with a Wind attribute monster out, I can special summon Speedroid Taketomborg!” A strange robot of blues and golds appeared next in a flash of light. “You wanted him, well you got ‘em, Trixie! Synchro Summon!” Tri-Eyed Dice shot into the air, splitting into four turquoise rings. The other Speedroid and the Super Quantum followed, but instead of becoming rings, they flew into them, figures dissolving to wireframes with three stars each glowing within their forms.

Trixie grit her teeth, ‘This could be bad.’ She looked at her hand. ‘As long as I don’t lose this.’

“Come forth, Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier!” Rev grinned as a column of light shot out from the rings. The heads became visible first. Three massive draconic heads emerged from the light, quickly followed by a large white and blue body with large, icicle like wings. The dragon gave a mighty roar, all the heads crying out. (9/2700/2000)

The sidelines gave a cheer. Trishula was a well-known rare card that always seemed guaranteed to appear in big tournaments at least once. Sunset grinned as well. She didn’t run the card, nor had she ever, but it was always dazzling to see in action, especially for its infuriating effect.

“You may not have anything on the field to get rid of, but on summon, Trishula can still banish a card from your graveyard and hand!” Rev called out, pointing across to Trixie, “Go, banish her cards!” He called, a card in Trixie’s hand and grave glowing as she was forced to remove them both, “Beyond that, Blue Layer returns itself to the deck thanks to its ability. Now for the main event! Trishula attacks you directly with Zero Degree Demolition!” The dragon gave another cry, throwing its heads back as a beam formed in each maw, tossing all three at Trixie, earning a shocked cry from her as she slid back.

Trixie: 5300

Rev: 8000
“First blood! Go get her Rev!” Star cheered, bouncing and punching the air.

“Your move, Trixie.” Rev smirked.

“Nothing flashy, for once.” Trixie huffed, drawing her card, “Just Raigeki!” She slapped aspell onto her disk, calling down a bolt of lightning and obliterating the hydra in a flash and boom.

“Nothing flashy.” Rev sighed as he sagged slightly.

“I summon the Right Arm of the Forbidden One!”

What?” Rev had to ask again as an...an arm materialized on the field. (1/200/300) “What even is your deck?!”

“White Elephant’s Gift sends it to the graveyard, and Trixie draws two cards more!” She nodded after retrieving them, “End.”

“She’s digging for something.” Sunset frowned, “Her draw engine is incredibly risky. Giving up her field and just taking 2700 to the face like that…”

“No kidding. It's a wonder she made it into Slifer at all.” Free joked with a lazy grin.

Star giggled, but Sunset just narrowed her eyes at the girl. Two Idols and a piece of Exodia. What was this?

“Allow me to make my recovery then. Speedroid Double Yoyo!” A green, bladed yo-yo held together with electricity shot onto the field. (4/1400/1400) “His ability allows me to summon my Tri-Eyed Dice back to the field! Let’s Synchro again, come on out Black Rose Dragon!” A dragon emerged from the summon, its red petaled wings flaring out as purple flames licked out of its dark maw. (7/2400/1800) “Black Rose Flare!” Giving no time to really react to the summon, the dragon beared down on Trixie, blasting her.

Trixie: 2900

Rev: 8000
“Trixie is really taking it.” Star laughed, “This is so one-sided!”

“And yet she’d not worried…” Sunset frowned, looking over at the still confident girl.

“Trixie draws and summons the Right Leg of the Forbidden One.” A leg flopped out. (1/200/300)

“I feel like you’re insulting me now. Or is this a prank?” Rev blinked.

She didn’t answer, “Trixie plays Shard of Greed and ends her turn.” A green shard of a broken pot appeared, glowing with a purple energy.

“Whatever, let's just end this.” Rev rolled his eyes, feeling fed up now. He drew and glanced at the spell. Useful, but unneeded. “Black Rose Dragon, attack!”
Trixie closed her eyes and braced herself.

Trixie: 500

Rev: 8000
“I end.” Rev rolled his eyes.

‘One draw left.’ Trixie drew…

Sunset felt a chill shoot down her spine as Trixie smirked darkly.

“Trixie activates Tri-Wight! This allows her to summon 3 level 2 or lower monsters from the graveyard to the field!” She smirked as both Exodia appendages and an Idol reappeared.

“So what? You have three level one monsters now.” He shrugged, “Anything in my deck can take those.”

“Trixie now summons Bone Mouse.” She ignored him, a red mouse appearing, it's back gouged out to expose its spine and part of its ribs. (1/400/300)

“4 level 1s?” Star blinked, ‘What?”

Sunset’s eyes widened, “Oh no!” She looked to Rev’s field. No facedowns to counter.

“Now!” Trixie beamed widely, “Trixie will show you the power of her level 1 monsters! Trixie uses these 4 to summon an emissary of power! Trixie summons an ancient creature from the bowels of the Earth, DYSTOPIA THE DESPONDENT!” The ground shook as a large blue humanoid broke ground, rising at her call. It held a resemblance to Obelisk the Tormentor. A large blue being with spiked shoulders, a shell of sorts on its back. (12/5000/5000)

Rev snapped to attention, stumbling back and onto his rear, “Oh GOD!”

“DYSTOPIA! ATTACK!” Trixie cried as the beast pulled back a fist, crushing the much smaller dragon.

Trixie: 500

Rev: 5400

“I...think Rev might be in trouble…” Star admitted with a grimace.

“Dang, this game…” Free Runner blinked, staring upward still.

“He can still turn this around…” Sunset nodded.

He drew, “I activate Emergency Teleport to special summon Blue Layer from my hand! Next I summon Tri-Eyed Dice and activate Reasoning! You declare a level and I look at my deck until I find a monster that can be normal summoned. If you called right, they all go to the grave!”

‘Speedroids.’ Trixie thought to herself, “3!”

Rev started flipping cards over, “...Speedroid Menko! Level 4, so I get to special summon!” The flame-spewing creature appeared in defense. (4/100/2000) “I overlay Menko and Blue Layer to build the Overlay Network! I Xyz summon Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss in defense mode!” A red dressed human with blue-black hair knelt down. (3/1000/2500) “You’re up…”

“I draw! By destroying my Shard of Greed, Trixie draws two more cards!” The shard seemed to laugh, vanishing as she drew, “Trixie plays the spell Dragon’s Mirror! By banishing two monsters in the graveyard, Trixie can fusion summon a Dragon type monster from her Extra Deck!” As her graveyard began to glow a large, armless dragon exploded from the purple fusion portal that had formed behind her, “First of the Dragons!” (9/2700/2000)

Sunset swore, “Normal fusions!”

“Normal what?” Star blinked.

“She has a bunch of weak normal monsters that can fuse into things like that!” Sunset winced.

Free Runner was on her PDA, “Wait, it says here that Dystopia stops all her other monsters from attacking! Why summon that?”

“First of the Dragon is unaffected by all effects of other monsters!” Trixie declared, “He may attack freely!”

“I still have two monsters on the field! You can’t touch my life points this turn!” Rev called back.

“Trixie still has four cards in her hand, and that’s all she needs!” She smirked, “By discarding my Thousand-Eyes Idol and Bone Mouse, Trixie can activate both copies of this!” She held up two spell cards, “Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce!”

Sunset sighed, looking down, “He’s done.”

“W-what? What’s that do?!” Star gasped.

Dystopia and First of the Dragons had quite the axe to grind it seemed, each of them dropping by 500 attack as they acquired their new weapons. (12/5000/5000 - 12/4500/5000) (9/2700/2000 - 9/2200/2000)

“You made them weaker?!” Rev tilted his head, still panicking from the creatures before him.

“With Tryce equipped, each monster can attack twice per battle phase!” Trixie declared as her monsters moved on his own, decimating his field. “And now, once more to end this!” The two monster descended on Rev.

NO!” A large explosion of dust followed.

Trixie: 500

Rev: 0

As the dust settled and the field cleared, Rev was seen on his knees, a shocked expression on the ground. A pair of legs soon striding into view.

“Trixie believes you owe her something.” Came the smug tone.

He winced, ‘At least i got her off of Spike. That’s what matters.’ He reached into his graveyard to retrieve the destroyed Trishula, sighing and handing it over to Trixie.

The girl grinned, snagging the card, feeling elated. Finally she had a chance of moving up with a new deck. However, her elation declined when a golden hand latched onto her wrist, “What-?”

“This isn’t done yet.” Sunset glared at her, “Trixie, I challenge you to an Ante Duel.”

To be continued...
