Chapters Chapter 1: Awakening
Equestria is a peaceful country, but Equestria faced many perils over the years starting with the return of Nightmare Moon and recently ending with the second changeling invasion and reformation of most changelings. There may be more threats to come, but now let’s take a look in the Everfree Forest.
Deep in the Everfree Forest is the Tree of Harmony, but past that is a well hidden temple. The temple has a being inside of it the has been asleep for many years. The being looks like an earth pony but without a mane and tail. This “pony” was leaning against a wall not breathing, but could hear a slight whirring from inside the “pony”.
POV shift: “pony”
I really should open my eyes if I can. When I open my eyes I see all of the walls covered in vines and moss. I try to stand and fail to notice that the ¼ of limbs that don’t work is my left hind leg. I then proceed to fall on my face and hear metal hitting the ground. I thought something fell, but when I rubbed my snout I felt metal on both my hoof and snout, I then realised I am made of metal. Or at least wearing metal. I finally stood up taking care to not use my injured leg, I went to find the exit.
I walked these halls for what felt like hours but in reality it was ten minutes(apparently I have a literal internal clock who knew?). I turned left at what looks like a horned and winged quadruped and the took a right. As I walked I looked through my memory banks and found out I’m a creature called a metaling and that I was a scout for the metaling army. My squad and I were checking if this planet had any voids on it, after that my memory banks are either blank or corrupted. I still don't know anything about metalings or know what a void is.
Five minutes later I finally find the exit. I’m now in a forest of some kind I feel two kinds of energy, one is chaotic while the other is harmony(how I know is anyone's guess). Then, a map of appears in my face. The thing took up most of my vision. I then attempt to touch it. I can't seem to touch it. I guess it's part of my vision then. The maps destination leads a mile or two away from the place I was just in. “Shouldn’t be too bad ” I thought. So, I started to go towards my new destination. Along the way I found a pond, so I looked in it. I found that I wasn’t wearing metal I literally am made of metal. My eyes are black with blue pupils (those eyes looked like they were not organic). And that my lips made a zigzag shape and I had no teeth, but the lips looked sharp, I meant that they were knife like sharp not good looking. I then looked at my flank and learned that I had a symbol on it that looked like this:
As I walked I decided to run an auxiliary diagnostic to see if I have any auxiliary parts. Which is obvious cause I can run a auxiliary diagnostic.
Well, I’m an advanced son of a biscuit aren’t I? Too bad I’m a low class metaling. How advanced are the high class metalings? Better not think on it. It has been about an hour of following the path and I’m at the entrance to a cave. Then, a thing appears in my face much like the map and says I only have fifteen percent core power left. I better hurry to see what’s in the cave. Inside the cave is a crystal tree with six different colored crystals on it. “Pretty” I thought as I walked up to it. This, tree was emanating a strong amount of harmony magic. Again, on my face a thing pops up and says “charging mode activated” and I fell asleep once more, but before I fell asleep I said “but I don’t want to.”
About one hour has passed when I wake up again I get a message that says “fully charged.” I’m happy that I am fully charged but then I feel bad for taking energy that wasn’t mine when it belonged to the tree. Wait why am I sorry for a tree? Meh. And, once more the map of blindness appears and says to head west from my position. I took that as a chance to explore some more while I headed that way. Along the way I saw of what looked like lion with bat wings and a scorpion tail “huh weird ” I thought as I passed. A pack of wolves made of wood ran by chasing a deer “the wood gets its revenge ”I thought. I then came to the solution I was power drunk or something cause how could I see this stuff it makes no sense! And, how could I think so casually about it too? Wait I’m not power drunk my core power is at ninety eight percent currently.I’m probably just an idiot. Well, I will keep on going then.
I see what looks like a town ahead. Well the map of blindness says to head there. Well, should I listen to it? I’m going to listen to it and if I don’t come back I’ll probably be facedown in a hole somewhere. Wait, I never did give out my name did I? I will look into it later.

Current POV: the metaling
I finally got to the village but it seems to be in ruins. “I wonder what happened here ” I thought as I walked through the village. It still is in the forest I’m in and seems to be a fair distance away of what looks like a ruined castle. I tripped and fell face first into a hole “I should watch where I am going” I mumbled as I got back up. I found place filled to the brim with… wait what are they called? They, are made of what some kind of white rectangular stuff and symbols are on them. “I wonder if I can read ” I thought as I opened one that was on the floor and tried to read the things.
POV shift: second person
“Only you would get excited about books twi” Spike replied
“Like you don’t get excited when the next power ponies comic is released”
“That’s different”
“Right”
When they got to the castle of the two sisters they went around it and then they found the village a little ways away “wow how did we miss that?” Spike asked
“Because we didn’t go behind the castle spike”
When they finally got to the village there was hoof prints on the ground that lead down the road and to an old building filled with books (most of them on the floor).
POV shift: the metaling first person
I can’t read for my life apparently, I mean I can’t read at all. “Ugh I wish I could read” I mumbled
“Um Hello?”
I went quiet as I heard someone talk. I look around to see who talked and at the end of the book shelves is a purple, horned, and winged quadruped looking at me.
“Um Twi what are you lookin at?” another but definitely younger voice asked
“Spike come look at this” the purple thing said
“Spike don’t be rude!”
“Sorry” the purple lizard now identified as Spike apologized
“If I may ask” The purple thing started “but, what are you?”
Well, I either decide to run the hell out of here or answer and try to make friends (at least I know what a friend is). I decide to answer the question.
“Well, I’m a metaling” I tell them
“What’s a metaling?”
“Your guess is as good as mine” I answer
“What!” the purple thing exclaimed “How can you know what you are but not know at the sametime!?”
I search my memory banks for an answer to that my only answer is to shrug.”I just don’t know.”
“Bolt my names Bolt what is yours?”
“Twilight sparkle”
“Nice to meet you Twilight”
“And what is your little friend’s name?” I asked even though I already knew
“My name is spike nice to meet you” Spike said.
“Hey what happened to your leg?” Twilight asked pointing at my left hind leg
“I don’t know” I replied. Twilight then rubbed her chin and made a face like she was thinking.
POV shift: Twilight first person
He can’t remember what his own species is and also can’t remember how he injured his leg I just got to ask him if he can remember other stuff first. “Hey Bolt?”
“Can you remember anything else?”
“I can remember a little bit but it’s not alot”
“So, what can you remember?”
“Well, I can remember that my species are metalings and that I am a scout sent to look for something called a void”
“Whats a void?”
“No Idea” He said
Just as, I thought he has amnesia but how he got amnesia has to be connected that leg injury.
“Well, it seems you have amnesia Bolt”
“What’s amnesia?” he asked
“Amnesia is when one pony or metaling in this case loses some if not all of their memory”
“Oh so I lost my memory?”
“Yes, but I will help you regain your memories”
Bolt stood up as fast as he could with his three uninjured legs and hugged me and chanted “thankyou” non stop for approximately one minute. “Ok you can stop now Bolt” I told him and he stopped but he wouldn’t stop bouncing in place I just smiled at him. “Hey Bolt where are you staying?” Bolt stopped bouncing and said
“Well, I don’t know I will be probably by staying near that crystal tree that is over there” he pointed over where the tree of harmony was.
“You mean the tree of harmony?”
“That’s what it’s called?”
I nodded
“The name matches it since it seems to produce harmony energy”
“Well, Yeah it does but why are you going to stay over there?”
“Other than it being a small cave I need harmony energy to survive”
Well, it’s not the first time I met a species that needed a type of energy to survive.
“Hey Bolt what can you do?” Spike asked curiously
“I don’t really know but I will find out at some point with your guys help to regain my memories” Bolt replied happily
I could tell this was going to be another adventure for me
“But, since you are here can teach me to read?” Bolt asked sheepishly.
POV: Bolt first person
I found something out while I was learning how to read. I have two brains, though my brain’s are actually called processors. So, I’m learning either at two times the speed or learning two different things. Want to know how I know that? Well, I may or may not have played with them for a bit. I switched between using both to learn how to read and using one to learn how to read while I looked through my memory banks to see how I can enable or repair my systems with the other one. Turns out I need to be in sleep mode or charging to repair my systems but it takes awhile. But, I don’t want to sleep for a long time so I will have to deal with partially working systems for a long while.
After four hours of learning of how to read Spike suggested we take a break. While they took a break I kept trying to read. I then noticed something moving in the shadows. What ever I saw in the shadows then disappeared into the shadow itself. Part of me wanted to see where it went while the rest wanted to try and finish the book. Then, three things happened: one something in my mind said “void hunt override” and I stood up without me doing anything (still not using my left hind leg mind you), two I got a message that said “weapon systems ⅛ online”, third my threat level was raised to defcon 4. I then proceeded to walk out of the library.
“Uh Bolt are you ok?” Twilight asked me. I couldn’t answer the question.
POV shift: Twilight first person
Bolt is acting strange: first he stands up without warning, second his eyes change from their normal blue to yellow, thirdly he proceeded to go outside without answering me when I asked him if he was ok. Spike and I followed him until he got to the plaza. Bolt was looking around, though his gaze lingered on the shadows longer than anything else he looked at. Suddenly, a demonic roar rang out through the plaza and a black and purple monster attacked us. Bolt grabbed Spike and I and jumped back. When he put us down a hole opened in his side and out came a weapon of sorts.
In the end Bolt won with the beast letting out one final roar before exploding on a black and purple cloud. Bolt’s eyes turned back to yellow looked around one final time and then his eyes turned change to blue. Bolt was stiff as a board and shaking slightly. So, I went to see if he was ok.
POV shift: Bolt first person
I am not just scared I am TERRIFIED. I mean I know what a void is now thanks to the warning but what scared me the most was when I lost control of my body for a while to the void hunter override. My defcon is lowered to 5 and I am standing there shaking.
“Hey are you ok Bolt?” Twilight asked. I shook my head no.”Bolt what happened back there you wouldn’t respond to anything”
“I don’t know Twilight I just kinda blanked out for the most part starting when I stood up suddenly back in the library”
“Well what can you remember?”
“I saw something in the shadows and something said to take caution and I went blank after that”
“Hmm ok as long as you are alright I’m fine but, what was that monster?”
“It’s called a void”
“A void isn’t that what you are to scout for?”
“Yes”
“Were you scared?”
“Yes”
Man Twilight likes to ask questions. And I mean a lot of questions.
“Hey Bolt?” Twilight started “would you like to come back to ponyville with me?”
“I don’t know is there any harmony magic there?” I inquired
“Well it isn’t that far of a walk from the tree of harmony so if you ever need to absorb more we can walk you there “ she answered
“I guess I will go then”
“I just know you are gonna like it there Bolt” Twilight said happily
“It’s settled then your new home will be ponyville” Twilight
“But before we go” I started “ can we go too the tree of harmony so I can top off on harmony magic?
“Sure and after that to ponyville” Twilight said
Well I guess i’m not living with the tree of harmony after all well I hope ponyville is as nice as they say it is.
"Hey Bolt let me help with that bleeding on your face"
POV Shift: third person at the village
Bolt, Twilight, and Spike forgot about the goo that was on the ground as they went to the tree of harmony. The goo spread through most of the village covering the buildings, the roads, everything was getting covered in the goo.
Author's Note
Well now Bolt knows what a void is but what will happen to the now goo covered village?
