Downed Guardians (Halo x Pony)
Chapter 2: Unrecognized.
Previous ChapterLead's eyes opened slowly, and he began to stand, retrieving his now-fallen helmet that had somehow been knocked from his head. He was in a forest, as far as he could tell. He stopped mid-grasp as he realized he had hooves, but was still in his full body armor. He looked around, confusion clearly in his cold eyes. He wasn't anywhere close to the Warden, nor his team, and that was a for sure statement. He grabbed the helmet between his hooves and put it over his head. "Spartan L34D to Yellow Squadron. Does anyone copy?" He waited a moment. Nothing but static. He removed his helmet calmly, waited a moment, then replaced it on his head. "Yellow Squadron, Viper, Jerry." His voice was still cold. "Do you copy?" Static. He could hear footsteps behind him, and he pulled the Battle Rifle from his back, instinctively, and pointed it behind him, turning to face the footsteps. He no longer heard footsteps, and he began to stalk toward a nearby bush. He whacked through one of the sides of the bush, and came face-to-face with a bright yellow pony. Her mane was a faded pink, and her eyes were a light shade of green. Lead lowered his weapon, staring for a moment. A silence was set between the two. Lead spoke after about a minute. "Where am I, and where's the rest of my team?" Lead was never the type to freak out. She looked taken aback-First he pointed a weapon at her, now he's asking where he was and where his "team" was. Fluttershy wasn't the type to assume, but she had a faint feeling that this man could kill her within a matter of seconds. She gasped silently, before quickly muttering words that Lead found himself unable to hear. "What was that?" He replaced the Rifle on his back. She said the words again, louder, and Lead heard what he needed to hear. "Y-You're in a place c-called Equestria," she stammered, "a-and I haven't...Haven't seen any o-others like you." Lead nodded, silently. "Spartan Lead. UNSC." He had a feeling he'd be saying that tons of times. "I-I'm Fluttershy," the Pegasus was yet again stammering. "Well then, Fluttershy, we may wish to get out of here. Knowing the Warden, we're not likely to be alone." Fluttershy was definitely confused now. Warden? Was this guy wanted? Is he from a team of bandits? Thoughts continued to ricochet around Fluttershy's mind. She decided to help him anyways.
After nearly ten minutes of walking, Lead and Fluttershy found themselves in a crowded village-like town. Lead looked around, stopping in front of Fluttershy. Before Lead could say anything, Pinkie appeared from a nearby trash can, bashing out of it like a Warp Zone and landing beside Fluttershy. "Hey Fluttershy! Who's this? Ooh, he has armor! Is it a he? I think it's a he. What's his name? Is he a cyborg? He's new, right? Did something happen?" She continued to babble on, eventually going from questioning the Pegasus to admiring the Spartan. Lead put his hoof up and Pinkie slowly went silent. "My name is Lead. I am a male Spartan of the UNSC." He lowered his hoof as he finished. "I'm searching for my team." A sudden loud bang came from nearby, and they heard blasts and screams echoing through the town. Lead pulled his Battle Rifle and ran towards the scene, followed by Pinkie and Fluttershy. A building had crashed down, and inside, shooting at anything moving, were Promethian Soldiers, Crawlers, and two Knights. The bipeds were all altered in this world, it seemed, but didn't stop them from using their front hooves to handle weapons. Lead began to fire at them, and he was immediately noticed. They all began to target him, rather than attacking everything. He dove behind a wall, signalling Pinkie and Fluttershy to help destroy the hostile aliens. Pinkie understood and began to bounce in place, before jumping with such a height that anyone would've died, and slamming down on top of a Knight. It flattened like a bug. Lead's eyes widened under the visor, clearly surprised that there was such a power within these ponies. Glowing orange blood shot from the pancake as it disappeared in a gold-orange dust. Fluttershy was scolding a Crawler, which seemed to be much more effective than anyone'd think. As the trio continued to fight the small gang of Prometheans, above them watched the Warden that had sent Lead there. He cursed under his breath before silently warping away.
Little did Lead know, the Warden wasn't the only thing he had to worry about.
