Chapter 1- Blood stained hands She was on the ground. All of her friends lay on the ground with closed or desperate eyes. Sunset Shimmer looked above her, only to see the existence she most hated smiling at her, a demon, another herself that she decided to call Sundown. Sunset gets up and tried to run from the abnormal being that chased her, and tripped on a corpse. She looked and saw her best friend's beautiful face bloodstained. Twilight Sparkle was dead, her characteristic glasses missing, the only person Sunset already loved was on the ground without breath. Sunset got up and run away trying not to cry while murmuring. "It's just another nightmare, it's just another nightmare, it's just another nightmare!" "Today it's just another nightmare, but soon this will be our perfect world," the she-demon said with trust and desire in her voice while approaching the beautiful corpse. Sunset stopped and turned to face the she-demon. "There's no way I would desire this... And get away from her!" Sunset said with fury in her voice. Sundown touched twilight's face and smiled. "You cannot protect anything, because my blood stained hands, are also yours..." "ENOUGH" Sunset screamed with rage, she ran directly to the she-demon and give a punch in her face. Sundown just patted sunset and she flies away. Sunset murmured again. "Just another nightmare, it's just another nightmare, it's just another nightmare" Right. She just needed to wake up. Then an alarm clock echoed. .......................................................... Sunset was in her "bed" covered in sweat, she was in the abandoned factory that she called house Just house, not a home. After all, she was a runaway from Equestria, and needed a place to stay, but without this world's money, she couldn't pay for anything. It was a good place, with kitchen, bathroom and others comforts, but she did not consider it her home, an home is a place where her heart belongs, not a ceiling upon her head. That's what Sunset believed. That's what her mother said, that's what Princess Celestia said. The last three months had been filled with nightmares, Sunset remembered the camp Everfree, two weeks ago, and Twilight facing her inner demons, and thought about how strong Twilight was. Sunset got up and started preparing herself to go to school and see the faces she most cared about. Six faces. Six friends. Suddenly the images from her nightmare flowed into Sunset mind. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were two strong girls. Now that they had their magic, there wouldn't be anything to worry about, right? 'Wrong!' A voice said inside sunset's mind. Of course, they are strong, but still nothing against the she-demon's power. Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Twilight also can't do anything against sundown's rage. That's why she cannot afford to let the monster inside her mind goes out, if sunset becomes evil again, she certainly will kill all of them. The strong Applejack will fall. The loyal Rainbow Dash will succumb. The warm Pinkie Pie will become cold. The generous Rarity will lose her natural shine. The kind Fluttershy will be forgotten. And the smart Twilight will lose her light. "Ok Sunset, calm down. They stopped you once, they can do this again, right?" Sunset said to the mirror. And the mirror answers. " Do you really think so?" Sundown was in the mirror. "I am you, and did you make The same mistake's twice?" "Yes, I do. Over and over again I make mistakes that I already have done," Sunset answered to the mirror. "Only now. You are weak now. The old you never do the same mistake twice, and I offer to you power, the power to overcome any mistake, a power greatest than anything Celestia or Luna has dreamed about," "I don't need this power, I have friends now," "But without power can you protect them?" Sunset did not answer. "See? You are weak and pathetic, so answer me Sunset Shimmer... What can you do?" Sunset couldn't answer. "I'm waiting! What can you do to protect them from an enemy? "You always act's different when our little nerd is involved, but don't worry, your secret is safe!" "What secret?" Sunset asked, even if with the face completely red. "Right darling, nobody notice. Anyway, why you're so sick?" Rarity said with a great smile. "Nothing. Nothing happened," Fluttershy achieved the two girl's and waved. "Hi, girls, some news after the weekend?" Sunset said with a gentle smile. "Yeah, right, sorry," "You don't need to apologize!" "Yea, sure, sorry," "Good Sugarcube, now let's try a word with a little more than six letters, right. I think you can do it," Applejack said while holding a laugh. "Yeah, this totally should be easy to an egg-head like you, right? now let's try!" Rainbow Dash said while laughing a lot. Sunset was in the math class but she didn't listen to a word, her mind was thinking about the previous phrase that sundown has said. 'Can you protect them?' Sunset tried to say to herself, there's no need to protect them right? What can be so horrible that those six cannot fight? "You... You cannot protect them from yourself, can you?" This question appeared in sunset's mind, and the worst part is that it wasn't the she-demon voice that spoke. It was her own. Sunset still in silence, but the voice didn't. "You, you're the biggest danger that they never would expect, the reformed friend, the brave Sunset Shimmer, they will never see the danger coming right? Only the cold from the dagger in their backs." "SHUT UP!" Sunset screamed, she looked around only to see that the students were in the lunch, except for two girls, Rarity and Twilight. "Sunset, you won't eat your last pancake?" Pinkie asked with her mouth full of pancakes. "I'll, but not now," Sunset said while looking at the window. "Well, Sunset. If someone asks me you seem kinda-off recently," Rainbow Dash said also with the mouth full of pancakes. "Don't talk with mouth full Rainbow Dash!" Rarity said. "WHAT, Pinkie talk with the mouth full too, why you just said this to me?" "Well, she's Pinkie Pie, that's normal. But you still need to follow the rules of etiquette," Rarity said with a wave of her hand. "I don't know how, but that makes sense" Twilight said and push back her glasses. Night after night, she certainly can't support this for much longer. The cat has stopped eating and just observe Sunset. "You're strange, you know?" Sunset said giggling a bit. "Tomorrow I'll bring the same as always!" She said while observing the little cat eating the pancake. She got up and continue her way. The cat just observes the girl walking away. .......................................................... Sunset enter in her room, her "bed" was exactly the same way she let when she left, her "bed" were simply three drawers together with an old foam mattress on top. Her pendant from camp everfree was in the nightstand. She went in the kitchen, to find something to eat, and make something to the next day, to both, Sunset and the little black cat. She saw him for the first time not too long after coming from Equestria. A really little cat, a kitten certainly, Sunset was the "bad" Sunset in that time, but without an obvious motivation she just cannot pass straight, she gives to the cat part of her lunch and go away. Again and again, she does that, and now almost three years later she still going to see him. Even at weekend. She never fails with that. She made her vegetarian lunch and something with tuna to the little cat. After that, she goes to her room, make the homework and finished the book she was reading. It was a book about the Zoroastrianism, an ancient mythology, based mainly on the duality of the universe. Good and evil, creation and termination. Ying and yang. This religion has a great and powerful monster. He was created by the primordial god of evil. His name was Azi Dahaka. An immeasurable powerful monster, the personification of the human evil itself. That monster cannot be killed, and only was sealed by a man named Thraetaona. Seriously, what kind of name is that? The reason she was reading this kind of book is that they remember a little about Equestria, mythology, magic, monsters, it's almost like being in her home again. But it was already late in the night, and she cannot avoid her "bed" forever. "Okay. Here goes nothing," Sunset said with a really tired voice and go to her "bed" face her own inner battle.

All the walls were made of stained glasses, with a lot of different colors, but mainly red, gold and purple, in the middle of the strange room, there's a throne. And that's all. Nothing more. No friends dying, no friends tortured, nothing. "Ok, what's the trick Sundown?" Sunset asked loudly. "Well, you called me by my name. I'm flattered," Sundown appeared from behind the throne. "Not only that, you also dare challenge me! What's this Sunset? It's a shadow of your past?" "My past? I already told you once. My past did not define me!" Sunset answer. "You know that this is just a lie. Sundown was laughing like crazy, like as if the day she always dreamed finally become true. "Seriously, the only missing part now is a sexy blond guy with blue eyes and completely crazy, and everything will be perfect!" Sundown continues laughing. "You say that now, that person would use you as a toothpick!" The Sunset in the throne answer. "What is this? Some kind of reference?" Sunset asked. "You can say that you fake," The throne Sunset said while pointing to Sunset. "What? I'm the real one, you're the impostor!" "Are you sure of that?" Sunset simply asked. But Sunset did not answer. "C'mon, it's an easy question! So answer me, the real one. Are you sure?" The sunset in the throne asked again. "Who exactly are you?" The real Sunset asked. "I'm the past you. But also the future you, I'm your shadow, I'm your true self!" The Sunset in the throne said. Sunset said nothing, she just waits to see where this will end. Sunset goes to the bathroom and looked in the mirror while based in the sink. "Maybe I need some time to myself. I think I'm not going to the school today..." Sunset said and eat a little more of popcorn. .......................................................... Sunset was in the street, waiting for her friends. They arrive after some minutes and Sunset know is better begun with some excuse about where she lives... "Look, about that thing of where I live, I can explain. It's just..." But Sunset Was interrupted. "We don't need your excuses Sunset!" Rainbow Dash said angrily. "What? But I..." Sunset tried to say. "Actually dear, we don't need you anymore," Rarity said. "Huh? Sunset stared at the black cat. "Did you just talked with me?" Sunset asked worried with her own mental sanity. "Yes, that's this pendant's power, right? It just evolved. Now you can talk directly with the mind of someone close to you," The cat said with a neutral face. "And how did you know that?" "You talk to me there's three years. I listen you know? That's why when you don't appear today I've been worried. Those nightmares are worrying me Sunny," The cat said. "You're worried about me? Wait... Sunny?" Sunset said while blushing. "Of course I'm worried, and don't you like that nickname?" "No, that's not it, actually I really like it. Just hear it makes me calm down," Sunset said smiling. "Make a joke, I challenge you!" Sunset laughs and laughed more. She laughs in a way she doesn't do since the beginning of the nightmares. And the black cat just smiled and said: "Welcome back. My queen!" But Sunset didn't listen. .......................................................... "I have some things to do, I'll try to get back as soon as possible. Sunset was in another nightmare, she's sure of it, but she doesn't know when everything will become a real nightmare, so she was trying to awake before it was too late. But she didn't awake. Maybe I'm really awake? She thought, but this makes no sense at all. The girl doesn't remember her awakening, and the sound of hundreds of people walking and talking around also didn't help with anything. So the only option is: This is a nightmare. "Hey, darling, you're not eating, don't you like it?" Rarity asked. "No, I'm just thinking in my life," She answered with a giggle. Well, maybe this is just a dream, the first dream in a long time... Probably since Equéstria. Sunset felt a strange feeling as if she's being observed. But then Sunset noticed, the nightmare will start! There's no sound, she looked around and hold her vegetarian dinner to come back. The streets were red. Literally red, the blood, steak, and bones of hundreds of people were painting the streets. From inside the red, a black dagger was forged, using the blood of the deaths as a material. Sunset could fell the madness coming straight from that black dagger, but suddenly Sunset felt a strange feeling, and her body can't obey the girl anymore. "What... This is crazy..." The crazy laugh continue. "STOP, YOU MONSTER!" Rarity screamed and use her magical shield to hit Sunset as harder as she could, and send the girl flying away until she destroyed a store's facade. Rarity strikes again and this time she tried to hit Sunset at close range, but it was too late, Sunset used Rarity's strike to cut deep in the girl's belly. When Rarity fall in the ground Sunset screamed. "Please, someone, anyone stop me, someone, please kill me!" She desperately screamed. But her body won't listen. Sunset approached to Rarity's still alive body. Pinkie and Fluttershy tried to protect the fallen girl, but Sunset killed both of them and finally killed Rarity too. Sunset fell on the improvised bed, and she immediately regretted, the wound on her back is almost mortal. She will need help, and Sunset smiled. Now she has help! "That's why you can't give up yet, Sunny," "Give up? I don't give up yet!" "Yes, you do. You're living as you know you will die the next time you sleep. But if you die, they will die too!" Sunset was shocked. She can't answer. Then she understands, she always thought that Yuki's scars were from protecting his territory. But it was made by humans, the cat tried to stole food, to give to the puppies. That's why she never see him with others humans. He probably hates them. "If you die, they will be starving. And I will lose the only human I care and love. And I will be alone again, as when I was a puppy," Sunset can't say anything. "That's why, Sunny, promise me. Promise me that you will see those puppies growing, you will see them growing and having their own kittens. Promise me this, Sunset Shimmer!" Sunset whipped her tears. When Sunset explained all she was doing with Yuki and explain why she can talk with him, Fluttershy hugged Sunset and cried, while saying what wonderful person Sunset is. But she used a little too much force in Sunset's back, and this remembered her of her wound. She really needs Rarity's help right now. And now Sunset has another motivation to fight. She will keep her promise with her life.

An advice? Ok now it's official, this is not one of Sundown's nightmares. My pendant has some kind of mental powers. How use it against an armed enemy? Sunset thought. Maybe she was thinking about it wrong. How did Sunset use magic in Equestria? Her horn! So she tried to use a magic almost forgotten to her, Celestia never liked that magic, but Sunset learned anyway, it's a magic to neutralize some of her brain impulses, so it makes the person (or pony) don't feel pain on a certain part of her body. Sunset used this magic and stand up, it works. The sparkles are back. However is this person, she wanted to be noticed. Using the sword to advertise her victims, this person is sadistic, she liked to see their victims... no, to people like that, the others are prey. Sunset run from the store, so she saw a little of the stalker, a black and long coat, a mask, probably ceramic, nothing that could help the girl to find her stalker's identity. Sunset just run, she doesn't feel pain on her leg anymore, but the wound is still there, that's the danger of that magic. Sunset now needs some way to attack. She concentrated and tried to use a laser beam from her hand, as she does with her horn. But it failed, and the enemy wasn't behind her anymore. She looked ahead, on the rain her enemy was there, just waiting. Sunset stopped and got in guard. With an amazing speed the enemy attack with his blade, Sunset blocked with the iron cane, but that person attached twice more, aiming Sunset's stomach, she used the cane to block the attacks but the second strike cut the cane in two. She looked to the person, she doesn't know if it's a man or woman, but she already understands something, her biggest problem in the school is certainly history, but she remembers enough. "I know who you are," She said defiantly. The strange person took a piece of paper from the inner pocket and pointed to Sunset. 'Good! And how am I?' It was written. "You are the biggest fear in London in 1888... You are Jack the Ripper!" The figure nodded, and taking another paper she started writing something, the great medieval sword at his side, carved in the ground. 'Good. You're right. Did you know how to use your pendant?' It was written. "How did you know about my pendant?" Sunset asked surprised. On the cold rain, the person just looked to Sunset, his mask is an impartial face. Sunset pointed at Jack and tried again to use her magical power. It works this time, a brilliant green beam, the same color as her own eyes, the green beam almost hit Jack, but he avoids the close range magic. Sunset runs away... They were just 7 feet's away, how he avoided that? Jack started running too, the sword on his back. Sunset looked to behind and saw nothing but the heavy rain, she looked ahead and Jack was just waiting for the young girl. Sunset uses her laser again, and this time she sends Jack flying. But she understands something. Jack stood up as if nothing happened. "You gave me the first paper!" He's way faster than me, she thought and tried to find anything else to say, only to gain time and prepare a stronger attack. Jack put his hand on his pocket and pointed to Sunset. Jack strikes and Sunset avoids four slashes and kick her enemy on his stomach, but when Jack jumped to behind, he used his sword on a vertical attack, cutting Sunset right in her burned arm, Sunset attached anyway. "YOU'RE FINISH!" Sunset screamed triumphantly and used all her power in a ultra-concentrated beam. Jack simply stayed, he doesn't even try to avoid. Jack attacked and cut the own magic. Sunset was petrified, that's insane, that's not even possible! that's everything she could think about it, then Jack disappeared, and Sunset felt an intense pain on her back again and fall on the ground. She looked at Jack and saw something strange. On his neck, there's a black version of Sunset's pendant. The enemy tried to kill her while on the ground, but despite the pain, Sunset rolled away and kicked Jack's hand sending his sword to far away. Jack materialize a totally silver scythe and attack, but Sunset teleports herself to behind Jack and kicked his knee with all her strength until she heard a satisfactory crack. Jack jumped away and Sunset used that chance to take the fallen sword, certainly a better weapon than a cane. Jack stayed in feet with just one leg, and use his magic in his scythe. Sunset felt another paper in her pocket. "I will wait for when you're ready for a serious fight," That's it. Sunset put the paper into her pocket again. "Leave it to me!" A thunder roar. The two attacked together. .......................................................... "AND WHAT?" Rainbow Dash screamed. "Then, I wake up!" Sunset simply answered. "No, it can't be over yet!" Rainbow complaints sadly. "Well, we should think on the important things of the dreams! Can you use others magic's now?" Twilight said, as always the brain of the group. Not only she went in another world, she's also a unicorn and more importantly, Sunset's unicorn form is simply the most cute thing that Twilight has saw in her life. "Here, I help you!" Twilight said and helped Sunset. Her wounds and burns seems worst in a quadruped form. "Thanks, this is hurting a lot now," Sunset said then finally wave to the other unicorn. "Starlight, right? Sunset screamed in pain, but uses this chance to use a charged beam in Starlight, the beam hits and send Starlight flying through the door. "Now you did it!" Starlight said angrily. Both unicorns still fighting through the castle, beam's and a variety of different magic's and spells flying to all places, Sunset attack with a fire attack, but Starlight made a great shield, in the form of a diamond, the fire was deflected, hitting a wall and destroying the same. Both unicorns continue their duel inside the new room, each time Sunset will attack she advice Starlight. "Watch out, I'm attaching from above, jump, fall in the ground to avoid! Now I'll use fire..." The two finally comes to the room with both Twilight's and Celestia, and all the ponies where surprised by the magic duel. "Starlight, Sunset, what in Equestria you're doing?" When the stone shattered Starlight used all the pieces to attack Sunset, and the yellow unicorn build a circular shield, and teleport to Starlight's side to used a cutting spell in the other unicorn. Starlight's front leg was bleeding, but she won't give up so easily. Starlight combined the accelero and the similo duplexis spells, and created seven others Starlight's, all of them surrounded Sunset and attacked at the same time. Sunset uses her telekinesis in herself to fly and use a charged beam on the ground, the beam divided and hit all Starlight's at once, all of them disappeared and only one was left. Sunset teleport, give a tackle in Starlight and use another beam, her horn already touching Starlight's body, this beam send Starlight in a wall, the wall shattered and Starlight fall on the ground fainted.
