Discord reclined on his couch, he had enjoyed a day of tea with Fluttershy and was beginning to take a nap. As he tried to get comfortable on the couch a piece of paper suddenly flew out of one of the cracks in the couch. At first he wasn't interested, for all he knew it was a blank piece of paper that had been stuck in his couch. Then out of the corner of his eye he noticed that the top of the paper read "To Discord Draconequus." He suddenly sat up and grabbed the piece of paper hastily off the ground. He observed it for a moment it was a faded yellow color with a few brown stains, the letter was almost halfway ripped apart but had somehow managed to stay together when flying out of the couch. "I wonder where you came from." He said to the letter as if it could talk. He chuckled to himself and then proceeded to start reading the letter.
To the older Discord,
Day 1: Hi older me,
Discord stopped reading for a moment. Memories came flooding back. "This letter..." he mumbled to himself as he began. To remember something. He ignored the thought and continued reading.
Hi older me, I'm six and a half and so far things have been going great in my life, mommy and daddy are together and happy, I'm happy and everything's great!
"I'm lying." Discord thought to himself.
Day 2: mommy and daddy got in an argument today, they argue a lot...it's daddy's fault at least that's what mommy says, he comes home late everynight with some stick in his mouth, it smells bad when he comes home, I asked mom why he always has a smelly stick in his mouth and she didn't tell me I wanted to know so I kept asking but she got annoyed and then she left me at home alone while daddy went to get more smelly sticks.
Discord cringed remembering his father, he had messy black mane and cold brown eyes, he had really sharp teeth and had been a very aggressive creature, he had elk horns and the head of a horse, he had a long beard. He was always smoking something.
Then he remembered his mother, she had brown long mane that seemed to glow, her eyes were warm and loving, she had one sharp tooth like him the rest of her teeth were dull. She had red eyes that could peer into his soul. He relaxed for a moment. He decided to continue reading.
I stayed home, practicing some magic tricks and hoping that mommy would come back soon. I'm becoming good at magic tricks but I'm sure you're better. I tried showing my magic to daddy when he got back home, he just looked at me like I did something wrong and said something that I didn't understand "I knew keeping you was a mistake, grow up!" I don't know what he meant but I'll try to grow up like daddy wants...I'll show him I'll make him proud of me! I really want to be a magician, mommy is really supportive of me but daddy doesn't care...he always points out what I'm doing wrong...I wish he would love me.
Discord stopped reading as memories flooded back to him, he remembered how much resentment he held against his father for never supporting him. He punched the nearby wall "I hate you!" He screamed. He realized that he had punched his wall and screamed at nothing. He took a breath and continued to read.
Day 3: It's been a while since I've written to you older me, but a lot has happened, mom kicked dad out of the house a few weeks ago, I'm twelve now by the way, he came in smoking again and she lost it, they began fighting and he punched her. She bit him and chased him out of the house "Get out and get rid of that awful habit!" She screamed as he ran away. It's been me and mom and she leaves the house a lot, I'm used to being alone now, I still want to be a magician, I'm getting really good at it. Do you still do magic? I wish Dad had stayed even if he didn't like me, he's still my father I hope he's ok
Discord remembered the day that his mom kicked his father out of the house, he hadn't understood the situation, and he was too forgiving of his father.
Day:??? I'm so confused...I'm so scared, mom is gone...she's d-dead...Father is back, he has full custody of me. All he does is smoke and yell at me whenever he sees me...he hits me a lot too...It's snowing outside...Father will send me to chop some wood soon...I wish mom were here...she died with no warning I don't even know how she died. It's cold inside this house, I guess this is what it's like inside my father's heart. Ha...ha...I'm still practicing magic...but I'm learning spells now, I'm trying to get father to like me...so he won't hit me.
He had been so naive when he was younger, believing that he could make his father love him. Discord stopped reading, he remembered how helpless he had felt...He knew what was going to happen next.
Day:??? I'm done...I hate Father, today I made him breakfast...just the way he liked it. (Hard-boiled eggs and a burnt pancake) He smacked the plate out of my hand and yelled at me for using his stove. He beat me with a tree branch. I'm going to put a spell on him, he'll pay for his actions.
Day:??? He beat me with the tree branch again, I don't care anymore...I tried casting a spell on him but he took my book of spells and ripped it up into shreds. Mom gave me that book...Mommy are you there? Ha...ha...Ha...I'm fine...ha...ha
Day:??? Father gave me something today...he said that what was in the box was all that I was worth, he handed me a wrapped up gift box. I opened it, it was empty, he laughed at me when I looked at him with a confused expression. "You're an idiot!" He laughed "I'd never give you a gift!"
