“How Can I Win This Fight?”
"No price is too much to pay for my Friends."
Load Full StoryThe air smelled of electricity, ozone and dirt. Twilight glared up at Tirek as he held her friends captive in his spheres of magical energy. Her friends. She couldn’t hear what Tirek was saying above the staticky white noise growing louder in her mind with every second her friends’ lives were endangered. She stared at her friends trapped so high in the air, powerless to save themselves should Tirek choose to extinguish the magic that formed the spheres trapping her friends. She couldn’t even save them herself with the combined mana of four alicorns flooding through her body like an uncontrollable, uncontainable river. She had thrown her best attacks at Tirek and he had countered, blocked and met each attack forcing them to this impasse.
She was vaguely aware of Tirek asking her a question. Something about if she was going to give up her powers to save the lives of her friends. The sound of her friends’ begging her not to do so made the staticky white noise in her mind roar like a storming ocean and she let herself drown in the noise. She let her hatred, anger and fear of losing her friends take over her body and screamed in pure rage as she flared her wings and shot into the air. The force of her takeoff cracked the earth’s surface with a fifty meter crater and she flew upwards until she was one hundred meters above Tirek.
Electric blue flames erupted in her eyes, her mane, tail and wings burst into the same blue flames, but she did nothing to stop the dark magic from overtaking her body, her mind and her very self. Tirek had crossed the line. He had taken her friends hostage, threatened their lives and forced her to resort to her knowledge of dark magic in order to save them. He was going to pay dearly for his folly. Twilight was vaguely aware that was she was screaming out the words of ancient spell, and she finally noticed the sensation of a raging river of icy cold water flooding throughout her entire body.
“SECTI-THARSIUM” She screamed, thrusting her forelegs and wings in Tirek’s direction as she finished the incantation she had been reciting for the past thirty seconds. A massive pillar of blue flames, larger then any spell she had yet to cast, flew from her body and streaked to the earth. Tirek’s protective shield shattered as the blue flames struck its surface and sent Tirek flying backwards several hundred meters leaving a deep trench in his wake. She teleported to the ground, thrust her wings at the bodies of her falling friends and sent a pillar of shadows to collect their bodies midair. The shadows flowed around her friends and hardened into a dark, crystal orb of protection.
Tirek screamed in rage as he flew with blinding speeds through the air, hands outstretched ready to crush Twilight. She reared up on her hind legs, blue flames erupted on her forehooves and she slammed them into the ground. An ocean of blue flames pulsed from her hoofs and shattered the earth’s surface as they raced to meet Tirek. Tirek’s stolen magic split the wall of flames and he passed through them harmlessly.
“Drasucuma.” Twilight muttered, her voice soft and icy. The wall of blue flames obeyed her command and instantly encircled Tirek’s body. The flames swirled upwards into the air and formed a tornado. Tirek’s unmistakable screams of tortured pain were clearly heard over the roaring of the necromantic flames that were slowly pulling the very life out of his body as they soared higher and higher into the air. The tornado of flames reached their peak, formed an orb of light above Tirek’s weakened form and slammed into him from above, sending him into another massive crater.
The staticky white noise in Twilight’s head dimmed enough for her to make out the words of the next spell she was reciting and even though her burning eyes widened in horror, she didn’t stop herself from finishing the last words of the spell. She flared her wings and leaped into the air and flew straight at Tirek as he weakly pulled himself out of the crater. Twilight stopped twenty meters in front of his face and screamed in pure rage and fury as she unleashed her final spell. As she screamed, blue flames poured out of her mouth and eyes and struck Tirek directly in the middle of his face. She didn’t stop screaming as she moved closer and closer to Tirek and continued pouring out her devastating spell.
Where ever the flames touched Tirek, his flesh darkened with necrosis and death. The flames continued pouring out of Twilight’s eyes and mouth in an never ending stream that covered more and more of Tirek’s form. Tirek’s flesh decayed and fell from his body under the merciless assault, his muscles and blood dried and shriveled before turning into something less than dust which blew of his dried and cracking bones. Twilight finally stopped screaming, ending the stream of necromantic flames. Blue ethereal energy pulsed from her horn and shattered Tirek’s skeleton into millions of tiny splinters. Only when every last piece of Tirek was scattered to the wind did the staticky white noise in Twilight’s mind finally recceed and the flames in her eyes, mouth and along her wings and legs extinguish.
A strong nausea gripped her stomach and she retched her entire day’s meals onto the ground in front of her as she realized what she had actually done. She had just used her knowledge of dark, necromantic magic entrusted top her by Celestia to obliterate every last piece of Tirek. Though she hadn’t seen it, she had even felt his very soul burn in her flames. She was a killer.
