Chapter 1 - A Startling Message & New Threat
The sun rose slowly as the soft sunlight shone through the window illuminating the three bodies sleeping in the bed, it has been a whole two years since Sean and Radiant defeated Chrysalis and her changeling army effectively saving Sean's friends and the land of Equestria. Oh by the way there is a package for you outside it’s from someone named Barrister.” Sunset said as the name made his body stiffen in shock and the color drain from his face as he nearly choked on his steak. “Radiant are you okay? What's wrong?” Sunset ask confused and worried upon seeing her husband's reaction.
“Ya I’m fine it’s just...that name is a name I haven’t heard in over five thousand years.” He said as Sunset handed him a napkin as he whipped his mouth before standing up and heading outside to grab the package. Once inside Radiant sat on the couch as Sunset hung over his shoulder. “Jesus it’s heavy.” He said opening the box as letting out a shocked gasp as Sunset screamed backing away from the box that contained the severed head of Radiant and Sunset’s friend Sunny Flare. “Dear god that's Flare...b-but h-how? We had dinner with her just last week the killer couldn’t be this close could he?” Radiant asked scared as he found a bloodstained envelope that contained a note and a photo. Radiant clenched his fist as the photo was a family photo of Radiant and his sisters. Each had a number and red circle around their heads except for Radiants which had a small text near it that read “Save him for last. He picked the note up and unfolded it before reading it out loud angrily.

Hello my friend it’s been to long since we last spoke and I’ve been missing my old nemesis but I’m getting off track and sentimental. “Radiant are you ko you look positively pale you're not sick again are you?” Adagio asked touching her big brother's forehead as Radiant smiled and waved her hand away and began to inform everyone on what had just happened back at his house.
“What! Are they allowed to do that? I mean you're the elder of your people for fuck-sake.” Sean said angrily slamming his hand down on the table. “Let them come near Adagio or Twilight I’ll fucking gut them!” He continued to say as Radiant sighed before placing his hand on Sean’s arm.
“Sean relax I wouldn't share this information with you if I didn't want you to help me but this will be an army of over five thousand Sirens each equal to me in strength and skill. There is a good chance you’ll die in this fight.” Radiant said as Sean relaxed his body and sat down before answering with a statement that made Radiant smile.
“Fuck chances, I would rather die in battle protecting Twilight and Adagio then sit around and do nothing.” Sean said as Adagio and Twilight blushed brightly.
“Sean you remind me of myself when I first came to this world when we discuss situations like this but this means you would have to put your writing on hold since you’ll be occupied with training and taking care of your children. Twilight I’m also gonna need you to speed up my arm and eye as well as make some augmentations for me.” Radiant said as she nodded and got up running into the basement where her lab was located.
“I knew this was gonna happen eventually, this means you boys must wipe out every pureblood alive, if the hybrids take over then we can usher in a new breed of Sirens maybe even ones that would be allowed back into Equestria.” Adagio said as Sean looked at them with a confused look on his face.
“Why are purebloods banned from Equestria?” Sean asked as Adagio and Radiant looked at him and smiled, Sean leaned in resting his arm on the table using his magic to form visual aids while he began the story.
“Thousands upon thousands of years ago Equestria was divided into two halves one was covered in water and ruled by seafaring creatures that were half dragon and half fish and the other half was land filled with early ponies who were ruled by two Princess Sisters. Now, the sea creatures kept to themselves and remained dormant whenever ponies came to fish and harvest sea life to survive. One day as the ponies gathered on the shore to fish for their usual day of fishing when suddenly a large gray beast emerged from the water. The beast had piercing yellow eyes and fins adorning his head in colors ranging from brown to green. The beast declared himself as god, he who had been birthed from the seafloor, and he who would be taking over control of the oceans and the organism that resided in its crystal blue waters. He promised peace with the Princesses so long as their ponies respected the ocean and didn’t over fish and kill the sea life that he ruled over. The princess asked what he called his people to which the beast dawned the same Sirens, and with that Sirens and Ponies lived peacefully and over the years the beast spawned more and more Siren until a rich and vibrant culture developed under the ocean's surface. However, the peace did not last long as the ponies began expanding their land and using their magic to clear out large portions of the ocean so that they could form dirt and rock. This act of aggression angered the Siren God and so he sent large tsunamis to wipe out the settlements that boarded the ocean, this act caused the deaths of thousands of Ponies.
In retaliation the Princesses declared war on the Sirens and the next three thousand years were filled with bloodshed as both Sirens and Ponies fought viciously, and after the Tri-Millennium War peace was finally met as the Siren God who had adopted the name Radiant Symphony signed a treaty with the Princesses. “Both parties agreed that if the ponies were to expand Radiant would be in control of how the land was made, this would ensure that ponies were happy and the ocean was kept safe and this treaty allowed for the world of Equestria to prosper and evolve into the thriving utopia it was when we left and when you arrived Sean.
Now, after several years of peace the Ancient One began to spawn more children as the Sea became crowded and history began to repeat itself. Ponies felt threatened by the growing number of Sirens so they purposely began to fish and capture them sometimes even killing them and harvesting their eyes and scales and sometimes the unborn fetuses from Siren females. Celestia and Luna however didn’t know about this illegal fishing until three Sirens rose up and attacked her castle killing several guards. For this unforgivable act Celestia banished these three Sirens to the world we inhabit now. Enraged the ancient one confronted Celestia and explained everything, ashamed of her actions she permitted the ancient one to go back through the mirror in her castle and retrieve his family.” Radiant finished as Sean slowly connected the dots in the story and after a few seconds the realization hit him like a freight train traveling at full speed.
“Adagio and her sister where those three girls weren't they?” Sean asked looking at Radiant as he nodded confirming Sean’s theory. “So, you were the original Siren Radiant?” Sean asked again as Radiant chuckled.
“I still am the original Sean and yes that means all Sirens are my brothers and sisters. Just never forget what you fight for Sean you’ll need it to keep your determination and nerve in battle, also remember to use weapons enhanced with magic for that is the only way to permanently kill a Siren. Normal weapons will kill a Siren sure but then said Siren would resurrect several seconds later.” He continued to say as Sean nodded before stretching and grabbing everyone's plates and putting them in the sink.
“Adagio while Sean and I am at work I need you to go to Crystal Prep and tell Sugarcoat and the others to come to my house. They deserve to know what happened to our friend Sunny Flare. Who knows maybe they will join us in battle, after all they have equestrian magic coursing through them all have, I will have Twilight talk with Rarity and the other girls to see if they will fight alongside us as we are gonna need as much magic as possible to win this battle with little casualties.” Radiant asked grabbing his keys as Adagio nodded and waved them goodbye as they left the house.
In Equestria Princess Twilight was hard at work settling some affairs with the Griffons. The two years that passed in the mirror world where half of the actual fifteen years that passed in Equestria. Over the years Twilight physically grew as she soon became close to Celestia's size in both height and magical prowess. Despite having moved on and marrying Flash Sentry Twilight still had the nightmare about what would have happened should Sean have never returned to Equestria. While she resented him at first as the matured she realized that Sean left so that Twilight could become the best she could be without and baggage holding her back. Though she never saw him as baggage she knew Sean made the right choice. Twilight signed the papers and sent them off as she got up and decided to go pay her son Crimson Nebula a visit. Twilight was happy to see her once small and frail son grow into a stallion the size of Radiant.
As Twilight entered the room she smiled finding Nebula sleeping soundly in his bed, his room was littered with books and spells that he had been practicing all night hoping to impress his mother enough so that she would allow him to explore the mirror world she always went on about and met the infamous Radiant Symphony. She smiled and walked out as she spotted something that brought memories flooding back to her. On a piece of paper was a drawing of all elements of harmony including Sean’s, Twilight felt her eyes tear up remembering that her Rarity, and Pinkie where the only Elements left alive as the others were killed in small skirmishes with Changeling that went rogue after Chrysalis’s defeat and when Sombra tried taking over Equestria. She quickly trotted to her room as she began to cry softly remembering all that's happened without Sean here.
Radiant and Sean drove down the streets of the city on the way to work as they listened to music and joked about their wives. “Ya know Sean you're a lucky man right?” Radiant said as Sean laughed and nodded.
“Ya sure you should see our bathroom I’m talking wall to wall beauty products, like have the shit I don't think Adagio needs hell you said Sirens stop aging at twenty-one and she just turned twenty-four so ya.” He said as Radiant laughed at his torture.
“Son try living all three of them in a small apartment for six years, then you can complain about having too much of something.” Radiant said as Sean smiled and thought of something that had been bothering him.
“So, Radiant you said Sonata is married to this Pixel dude, well where is he?” Sean asked as Radiant sighed and pulled into the parking lot of the construction site. “Peacekeeping in "The Crystal Empire.” Radiant said as Sean looked down feeling bad for Sonata.
“What about Aria, has she found” the one?” He asked as Radiant laughed climbing out of the truck.
“Son the day that girl finds a guy that she doesn’t scare off is the day I shave my beard.” He said as they shared a laugh and went into the skyscraper to begin the day's work. Sean was sad that his peaceful life wasn’t gonna last forever but he was determined to do what he couldn’t when he first encountered Chrysalis. One way or a nother his time he was gonna defend Adagio and Twilight and help Radiant.
Back at the house Sunset brewed began brewing tea as Sugarcoat and the other Shadowbolts sit quiet and shocked at the realization that lay before them in a gold a purple box. Sunset said nothing as she poured the boiling water into each cup as it swirled around the bag turning the tea a sage green color. The girls remained speechless as they stared at the dismembered head of their close friend. “Did she suffer or was it quick?” Indigo said finally breaking the silence as Sunset sat on the couch passing them their cups of tea. “I mean Radiant always said that beheading was a merciful way to die.” Indigo said as Sour Sweet angrily slammed her cup down.
“Radiant this Radiant that did you girls ever stop to realize this is all his fault. He just had to fall for a damn human instead of marrying his sisters like his culture demanded.” She said as Sunset sat her cup down remaining calm as Sweet insulted her and her husband. “Not to mention those sisters of his, one married a pony, one married a human and one won’t marry anyone. Sunny died for Radiant I say we turn him over to this Barrister dude right now along with his sisters and that Sean prick she is married to.” She said as Sunset stood up and delivered a swift smack across Sweet’s face causing her to stare at Sunset who was now red with anger.
“That's enough Sweet, now take a break and sit down!” Sunset said yelling as she sat back down rubbing her hand. “I’m disappointed in you Sweet especially since I know how close you and Radiant were and still are, you're angry about Flare I understand but don't you even think about turning Radiant or his sisters over to that monster. Barrister is the type of monster that will still kill us all even if we did hand over Radiant.” Sunset said as Sour quietly sat down as the other girls turned their gaze to the box as Sunset continued to explain. “Now, as we all know you six have a small amount of equestrian magic inside you thanks to the incidents at the Friendship Games but it’s nowhere near enough to use in battle, Radiant said that he can create a field around his body that when touched he can funnel Equestrian magic into the person who made contact. He said he has enough inside him to give you all the same level of power that he and his sisters have inside them. However, this mean you will be as strong as the Army of Sirens we will be facing on the field and Radiant can’t guarantee your survival that is why he won't think any less of you should you wanna back out.” Sunset concluded as the room remained silent as Sour and her friends thought about the preposterous proposal presented to them. This had been the first time that the girls would be fighting a battle that could mean life and death for them and their families, they knew if they failed or if Radiant and the others fell greed would consume Barrister and he would slaughter all he could get his hands on, this idea frightened the girls but as they looked into the blank expressionless face of Flare something built up inside them. It’s a feeling that hadn’t felt since the friendship games that feeling was revenge.
“Alright...we will do it but not for Radiant...we're doing it for Flare.” Sugarcoat said as Sunset sighed and nodded hoping that the girls would eventually see past their grief, she always hated seeing Radiant lose friends because she would always put herself in his shoes.
“Girls it’s time I told you a story that Radiant once told me, Sean, his sisters, and our children.” She said using her magic to conjure up a magical projector that displayed a tan tapestry over the walls. This tale is a long one and will hopefully persuade you to fight for more than just revenge for Flare’s death.” She said as she took a sip of tea and began her story.

Sadly, in the three thousand years he was gone the Ancient Ones people rose up and attacked Equestria and within a few years Sirens became extinct due to the relentless hunting from poachers and the Princesses themselves. Soon the Ancient One and his sisters where the last surviving Sirens.
However, secretly a group of two thousand Sirens exiled themselves from Equestria to another land for from the reach Celestia and Luna, this is where Barrister got his start. At first they respected and honored the Ancient One but when he didn’t return they enacted Barrister as the new Ancient one and upon hearing that Radiant betrayed his customs and traditions they took up arms and confronted the Ancient One on a battlefield and slayed him. Now, what does this have to do with Radiant you ask? Well, it’s simple a true Ancient Siren can’t be killed by normal means he can only be killed by magic or magically enhanced weapons. “Roughly thirty minutes at the least, I tried to go in there with her but they wouldn’t allow me so not only is Sean not her to comfort her she is giving birth alone.” Radiant said as everyone gave a look of sorrow. Rarity quickly perks up and fluffs her hair.
“I have just thought of a marvelous idea darling wait here.” She said walking over to the man at the counter she flipped her hair and giggled running her finger under his chin, within seconds the doors opened and she walks by everyone smiling. “Well? What are you waiting for? You have a sister to support.” She said as radiant smiled and kissed her cheek as she blushed.
“I owe you big time Rarity.” He said as everyone rushed into the delivery room and quickly joined Adagio as she smiled.
“You're almost there Mrs. Shamrock just keep pushing.” The doctor said as Adagio nodded and screamed pushing more forcing the infant's head slowly out but stopped as the doctor quickly came up and called in more nurses and doctors.
“What's wrong doc?” Pinkie asked as more doctors came in and carted her into the operating room.
“Whoa where the hell are you taking her?” Radiant asked as a doctor stopped him from following them.
“Well Adagio’s birthing canal is too small to continue the process, so we are going to have to give her a Cesarean Section or both her and the baby could die.” The doctor said. Everyone gasped in shock. “There is a special room we are taking you to so you can safely view the procedure from there.” He said as he escorted them down the hall and into the small room. “As an upside she will be under anesthesia so she won't feel anything.” The doctor said as Radiant tried calming down and relaxing, Sunset smiled and reached out taking her hand in his and kissing his cheek as her warm touch relaxed him further. The seven friends sat on the bench in the room as the doctors relentlessly worked hard to ensure both Adagio and her baby survive the procedure. After hours of uncertainty and fear the doctor entered the room with blood up to the forearm of his sleeves.
“It was a success your sister is going to be fun and so will your new nephew, congratulations sir and if you all will follow me we will take you to her room.” The other doctor said washing his hands before escorting everyone to Adagios room. After several minutes of walking they arrived at Adagios room and all ran in hugging her as she smiled showing radiant the baby. Radiant rubbed the small infants head and smiled as before him wrapped tightly in a blanket was the future of his people.
“Have you decided on a name?” Sunset asked as Adagio smiled and looked at Radiant.
“I’m naming him Symphony, after my brother.” Adagio said as Radiant blushed and rubbed the back of his head causing everyone to laugh.
Meanwhile, back at Radiant’s house, Aria and Sonata were busy cleaning the house and making everything clean and tidy so that the house looked nice. Aria mopped the kitchen as Sonata cleaned the counters and music played in the background. Aria rolled her eyes as Sonata shook her ass and sang to the music as Aria was beginning to get annoyed she groaned and put away the bucket and went to work on her room upstairs. Aria had been more angry than usual thanks to everything that was going on between Sean and Adagio and the impending doom approaching them. Aria was always one to keep up her tough girl act but when she was alone she let down her armor and acted like her normal self.
“This is such bullshit not only are we gonna die but I’m gonna die alone, seriously what's so good about Adagio and Sonata? I can be sexy too… but… why do people still avoid me. All I want is a chance at happiness like my sisters and my brother… all I want is for someone to love me.” Aria said as she cried softly into her pillow letting the music downstairs mask her cries. As they day dragged on Sonata came up with her wallet and opened the door to Aria's room.
“Hey Ari I’m heading out to get some food, did you wanna come?” Sonata said as Aria dried her eyes and sat up.
“Sure let me just get my jacket.” She said as she grabbed her coat out of the closet and quickly followed Sonata downstairs and out to the Sean’s car. Sonata put the keys in the ignition and started the car before pulling out and driving off. “Hey Sonata can I ask you something?” Aria asked as Sonata smiled sweetly.
“Sure Ari ask away.” She said as Aria took a deep breath and looked Sonata dead into her eyes.
“Am I scary?” Aria asked as Sonat tilted her head confused.
“I mean you used to be but ever since Sean and Adagio got married you have been mellowing out… and somehow gotten more aggressive at times. So yes and no.” She said as Aria looked down and crossed her arms. “What brought his on Aria?” Sonata asked as Ari looked at her arms still crossed.
“Well it’s just seeing Sean and Adagio and hearing about you and Pixel I’ve just felt… left out. Not that I need a man but I just wanna be treated like you guys do. I want someone like Sean or Pixel to notice me and not back away out of fear.” She said as Sonata giggled at the ridiculous statement. “Ari you're over reacting. You will find a partner, but someone like Sean or Pixel isn’t right for you. That's why you're not having any luck. You need someone who's like you.” Sonata continued say as she pulled into the Taco Hut drive thru.
“That's it I don't someone like me… I see how Sean treats Adagio… that's what I want, someone who would literally kill to save me but can also treat me like I’m the queen of his world.” She said as Sonata snapped her fingers and gave her a smile as she pulled the bands out of Arias hair letting her pigtails cascade out and down her shoulders. “S-Sonata what are you doing?” Aria asked blushing slightly.
“Take off your jacket and go inside and get our order, it’s Saturday night and this place is usually packed with people I’m sure you can catch someone’s eye.” Sonata said as Aria’s blush deepened before she slowly removed her jacket.
“Seriously Sonata… picking up guys at fast food place? I’m not a fucking teenager.” Aria said slightly annoyed by Sonata’s antics.
“Aria this is you we are talking about… can you really be picky?” She added as Aria opened her mouth and closed it before groaning.
“Fine but I’m gonna kill you if this doesn’t work.” Aria said walking into the building and walking to the counter and waited in line, she crossed her arms and looked around hoping that Sonata’s crazy idea would actually work. After several minutes of waiting Aria approached the counter and placed her and her sisters orders. Aria took the bags and began walking out to the car before bumping into someone and dropping he food on the floor and falling on her ass holding her head. “Oww… hey watch where you're...going… “ Aria said as her voice traile off upon laying eyes on a green skinned man with a short mohawk and light stubble, the man smiled and stuck out his hand. Aria happily took his hand as he helped her to her feet.
“My apologies miss. I wasn’t looking where I was going.” The man said with a slight Irish accent as looked into Aria's eyes causing her to giggle softly.
“It’s ok, accidents happen. So, I’ve never seen you before. You new here?” She said playing with her hair and showing a side of herself she didn’t think had existed.
“Actually I am I just moved her from Belfaust, Ireland. The names Irish Red but me mum always called me Irish so I guess that works to.” He said laughing as he pulled out his wallet, and handed her some cash. “Here this should cover the food I ruined.” He said as she smiled and pushed it away.
“No need to pay my friend can afford it. I’m Aria Blaze by the way.” She said as his eyes widened.
“Oh so you're Aria, I’ve heard a lot about you.” He said as she made a scared face thinking that he knew about her past. “Your Radiant’s sister aren’t you?” He asked as she nodded and took his hand.
“Hey why don’t we get some food and talk some more. You seem cool, and I wanna know more about you.” Aria said trying her best to be smooth and what she thought was flirting. “I-if you want to that is.” She said trying to hide her blush but failing and causing Irish to chuckle.
“Of course, it’s the least I could do since I ruined your food.” He said as he took a seat and Aria went up to order.
“Oh my god Sonata was right, ok Aria play it cool you broke the ice now just casually insert stuff about yourself into the conversation.” Aria thought, as she quickly replaced her order. Aria patiently waited for the food as she would occasionally look over and wave at Irish. After a few minutes the young teen behind the counter handed her the food to which she happily paid and thanked the kid before returning to the table. “I didn’t know what you wanted so I just got you what I usually get so I hope you like it.” She said finally controlling her blush before sitting down. “So I guess we should start from the beginning then don’t be afraid to include any shameful moments.” Aria said as Irish smiled and leaned forward.
“Well back when I was a wee babe I used to explore the caves and grottos around my home and look for rocks, emeralds, or sometimes even weaponry or armor. See, Belfaust used to be a town where soldiers would come to rest in between battle and some would hide their access weapons, armor, and valuables and forget them and die in battle. So those items stayed in the caves and grottos and not only appreciated in value but where also very dangerous to find. Ah but what's a little danger to kid who was a massive Daring Do fan, yeah? Well my mum didn’t like it she always worried to much but as e being her only child I understood why, but just something about treasure hunting fascinated me when I was younger. Fast forward a couple years to me days in secondary school and that dream was slowly replaced by music. In fact, for a while, I was in a small pub band that would play local gigs around town.” He said as Aria listened carefully as she ate her food.
“After several gigs I once again felt that burning inside me… I wanted more I knew I was on the right course to achieving my dreams… but I was 16 then and everything I did seemed ambitious. After me 18th birthday however I had realization… Metal music. I started listening to all kinds of bands from varying sub genres of music and finally picked Metalcore, issue is none of me mates wanted anything to do with it so I’ve been looking for members for the past 5 years. So thats me, thats Ol’ Irish Red.” He finished as he took a bite of his food allowing Aria to finally speak, as he looked over Aria’s face was that of a starstruck child.
“Me and my sisters used to be a band too… although we got our fame through unfair means.” Aria said as she solemnly looked away to which Irish scoffed.
“You're a member of the Dazzlings. You were a band, and a good one at that. Sure, you mind controlled a few people but you love to sing and you and your sisters have music in your hearts. Don’t be afraid; just accept your mistakes and chase that dream. Tell ya what, hows about I bring you with me to my house and we see test out your voice on some tracks I made? If it works out. you could join my band.” He said as Aria looked at him with a big smile.
“Wait, how did you know about the whole mind control thing?” Aria asked now suspicious of the stranger she had just met.
“Simple… your brother Radiant and I attended the same high school so when i talked to him recently you three came up… a lot.” He said as Aria lowered her guard.
“So I take it all that popularity lent you a pretty amazing girlfriend?” Aria asked tried to make and hide a flirtatious move but failed miserably.
“You would think but no I don’t have a girlfriend. Don’t get me wrong, girls… and guys. . . have made offers but they just didn't peak my interest.” He said as Aria’s smile grew bigger upon hearing the good news.
“Well have I peaked your interest?” She asked as Irish thought for a second and chuckled.
“Ya know… I think you actually have.” He said checking his watch and standing up and writing his number on her napkin. “Listen Aria I gotta go and get some sleep for work tomorrow but call me any time.” he said kissing her hand and leaving the store. As the door closed Aria blushed brightly and got up to order Sonatas food, and within a few minutes she threw the money on the counter and ran out to the car, as she opened the door she threw Sonata her food and giggled like a giddy schoolgirl having her first crush.
“What's gotten into you Aria?” Sonata asked as she checked the food in her bag and began to pulling out of the parking lot, she threw the car into forward as they pulled out into the street and drove off.
“I’ll tell you on the way home just drive quickly I wanna hurry up and get home.” Aria said almost mimicking Pinkie when she is excited. As they car drove through town Aria went on her tangent about Irish and everything he told her and what they talked about. Sonata simply smiled the entire time seeing her sister finally find someone who showed romantic interest towards her. Sonata was happy on the outside but deep down she missed Pixel and wished he would return home so she could hold him like the old days.
Canterlot Chronicles: The Siren Wars
Chapter 4 - A True Test of Strength
The night dragged on as Sean spent hours outside the temple practicing Tai Chi to perfect his balance and calm his racing mind about the impending war just on the cusp of the horizon; a war that if he wasn’t perfect by the time the war started, he would lose everything. It has been almost a year since everyone said their goodbyes and began their training, Sean hadn’t received a single letter from Adagio and the others which hurt his heart but at the same time made him happy. The absence of communication means she wasn't focused on him and, therefore, training hard. Sean seamlessly changed his positions as his body began to flow like water and his mind soon began to cast out thoughts of his friends, and instead shifted to his inner thoughts which had been neglected the entire year he had been there.
Sean closed his eyes and took deep breaths as his mind manifested imagery to provide balance and relaxing thoughts; trees, animals, waterfalls, balance and harmony… all flooded his mind as he let out a loud yell and spun in the air delivering a devastating kick to a tree, making it it crack and splinter out. Sean opened his eyes and looked on astounded at the damage he had just done to the tree trunk.
“Very good Sean, I’m glad to see you finally understood what I meant by casting your friends out of your mind.” Said an elderly man, as he walked out from the temple. Sean quickly cleared his throat and bowed in respect.
“Thank you master I apologize for taking this long to realize what you meant.” He replied, as the old man chuckled and patted him on the shoulder.
“You are young, my pupil, and your mind is just as healthy as your body, but casting your friends from your mind isn’t forgetting them. In the grand scheme of the Shaolin, we exist to use our skills to defend what we care about most. Do not forget them, but, instead, remember to use them as tinder and flint to light the fire needed to protect them. Now that you’ve learned this lesson, I want you to head inside and grab your Gi. Your real training begins now.” the man said as he bowed with Sean and the two walked towards the temple entrance.
Meanwhile, in Canterlot, Adagio and the others had been sparring and training non stop and working to hone their specific skills. In the time that had passed, word had reached Pixel’s ears in Equestria. Celestia understood, and sent several hundred of her guards to assist in the war and as a way of repenting for how she treated Adagio, Aria, and Sonata. Radiant and been starting to show his age with his hair peppering and his hair and bags forming under his eyes for sleepless nights training the girls and the recruits that had agreed to join in on the war. Initially, it was only Radiant and the girls, but word had traveled fast, and that number climbed from fifteen to three hundred with an extra two thousand in reserves waiting for Radiant’s and Celestia’s orders. However, they were still short six thousand soldiers compared to Barristers army of thirteen thousand. Hope was not lost, as Sean still had the chance to speak with the local monks and small militias of China that well accommodated the lack in troops.
Radiant cracked his neck and stepped onto the training ground that had been littered with the sweat and blood of the trainees. The girls were by no means finished with their training but they were on a harsher training regiment then the trainees who were still getting used to their new human bodies.
“Alright ladies form up and shut up, Now, the three hundred of you were personally chosen by Princess Celestia to aid in the war that will ultimately cost most of you your lives. Death may be an inevitability in this war, but it’s my job to teach you all how to take these bastards with you. Now, you will notice that your armor as an odd purple symbol on it. This is for a very special task. Should you feel your end is coming activate those symbols and run into the closest group of soldiers you can. You are warriors but you are also martyrs to protect Equestria and those loyal to the crown. I’ve chosen a hundred of you to be the first line. When I begin to charge I want the one hundred men and women with two symbols to run at the line and clap your armor to activate the magic that will detonate your body, hopefully dwindling the numbers before the rear calvary comes in to clean up those remaining. Remember people, this is a war. Spare no one, even if they are on their knees begging.” Radiant said as the girls looked at each other with a look of worry. before realizing Radiant would never do that to them.
“Above me are fifteen girls who will be fighting alongside you. Your goal is to give your life to protect them. If any of them fall, the war may very well be lost. That being said, you all will now train… against them. Squad one and two you will take on Adagio and Aria, squads 3 and four will have Rainbow Dash and Applejack, squads 4 through 6 you will be taking on Rarity, Pinkie, and Sonata. These girls will not show mercy and that means neither will you. Your weapons are fake but I want you to fight as if your life depended on it.” As the trainees clapped their arms to their chest in acknowledgment the girls jumped down and got into their formations. “Begin!” radiant yelled as everyone let out loud screams and began to clash and battle like proper soldiers, Radiant simply smiled as he joined Starlight, Twilight, and Sunset on the balcony above.
“Radiant are you sure about all this? I mean, you're sending all these ponies to their deaths! Doesn’t that weigh on your mind?” Sunset asked as Starlight watched the fighting with large sparkling eyes.
“It indeed weighs on my Sunset but Barrister is ruthless, so we must be just as ruthless if not more so. Think about what's at stake here! Should we fall in battle, not only will our twins be parentless, but thousands of lives would be lost for nothing! Believe me, my love, it weighs on me every night, but I must suppress it for the survival of us all. Not to mention, Celestia told them to do whatever I told them to do, so they knew what they were getting into considering my reputation in Equestria.” Radiant said as Sunset sighed placing her hand over his.
“Do you miss it?” She asked as he looked down at her with a puzzled look.
“Miss what?” She smiled and nuzzled her head into him.
“Being in Command of the Royal Guard in Celestia’ Castle.” He chuckled and rubbed her head.
“Every damn day.” He said as the fighting intensified as he saw before him the beginning of a formidable army. “Now come we have to go see Twilight and check on how the armor is coming. Starlight be sure to tell Twilight what armor and weapons you prefer. Commanders get custom tailored weapons so go nuts, just make sure it’s wieldable in battle.” He said as the three girls followed him to the basement of the training grounds.
“By the way Radiant, how did you find Starlight? Last time I saw her she, was still in Equestria.” Sunset said as Radiant chuckled and looked over at Starlight who was mid conversation with Twilight about her armor.
Equestria
Radiant was deep in some books in the Canterlot Library studying up on battle tactics and the actions of past military leaders in Equestria. As his hooves flipped through book after book, he copied down key points and other things he would need to formulate his own tactics. He was no tactician though, so he had Twilight, once again, by his side helping him. It was the first time Radiant had been in years, and Twilight was happy to see a familiar face. As the two scanned books at lightning speeds, trying to gleam more useful information, an unknown purple pony with a purple and teal mane came walking into the library.
“Umm, Twilight we have a problem.” The pony asked as Twilight and Radiant turned around to face her.
“Yes Starlight what is it?” Twilight asked, slightly annoyed.
“Spike and Pinkie got into the ice cream again.” She said as Twilight groaned and pressed her hoof into her face.
“Radiant I’m sorry to cut this short but I have to go fix this before they destroy Ponyville… again.” She said trotting off as Starlight walked into the library.
“So you’re Radiant Sword? Like, the Radiant Sword?” She asked, slightly star crossed at being alone with a powerful Alicorn.
“I used to go by that name, Starlight. That was from back when I used to use the guise of being a pony. Please call me Symphony.” He said coldly. He truly resented that portion of his life, and that added to the threat of war looming over him played its part in making him slightly irritable.
“Oh, right. I forgot you’re as Siren. So why are you and Twilight reading old war history books?” She asked as Radiant sighed, knowing he wasn’t going to get any work done with the new curious pony present.
“If you must know, there has been an uprising in the New Siren Republic. A man I once called brother and fought beside has turned his back and the entire species, on me, and my three sisters. They claim they want Sirens to remain pure blooded as they despise the idea of muddling our race with humans, griffons, dragons, or any other species we might nameable under Celestia’s sun.” He said as Starlight tilted her head.
“Why wouldn't you want pure bloods? I thought your species was on the brink of extinction?” Starlight said as Radiant sighed and looked down at her.
“Because pure bloods are the reason we are going extinct. They are too stubborn and aggressive. That's why me and my sisters and all creating half breed children; to encourage our species to mate with other races, and by watering down our species, hopefully breed out senseless aggression altogether. It’s a fruitless vision, I know, but I’ll be damned if I let them force me to bow to Barrister and his army. Especially since we will be fighting in the mirror world.” He said as Starlights eyes widen with excitement.
“Can I please come with you? I don’t know much about fighting but I’d love the chanced to start over in a new world. I’ve been sneaking Twilight's booking and talking to someone named Sunset Shimmer about the world granted she left out all the war stuff but still I want to go!” She said jumping up and down.
“Oh so you're the pony my wife has been talking to, I wondered why your name sounded so familiar. However, that's up to Twilight, not me. If she says yes, then you can come, but know that you may have to end up fighting in someway.” He said putting his hoof on her shoulder as she frowned and then smiled.
“Then I guess you will have to take me in as our student and teach me how to fight.” She said as Radiant choked on his water and looks down at her as she smirks. “That’s right, I’ll be your student. That way you have to take me with you and teach me how to fight.” She said as Radiant sighed putting his hoof on his face. Radiant had been around as long as Celestia and was considered a wise pony but the idea of training someone else on top of the others was daunting, especially when his potential new student had the same attitude he had when he was younger.
“Fine. I’ll take you under my wing, but know that my training won’t be easy.” He with a sly smirk.
“Actually, Radiant, I think your discipline is the kind she needs.” A sultry yet mature feminine voice said as Radiant whipped around to see Celestia.
“Celestia it’s been too long.” Radiant said happily as he trotted up and hugged her tightly.
“You really should have told me you were coming, I haven't seen you in years. How goes things in the mirror world? Are your sisters behaving?” Celestia asked as Radiant gave her a pained look. “What's wrong my pupil?” Celestia asked as Radiant smiled at something she hadn’t called him in years. He cleared his throat and informed her, and by proxy Starlight, of the events leading up to him returning to Equestria. “Oh dear, that's terrible but you cannot take him on alone. In the interest of protecting this world, and the mirror world, I grant you command of half of my royal guard.” Radiant gasped at the proposition.
“Princess that would count over three hundred warriors. Who will protect you?” He asked concerned for the one pony who cared for me no matter what happened. “What if Chrysalis or Sombra tries to attack?” He asked as she giggled and nuzzled her head against his.
“I will be fine, Radiant, I still have the Elements of Harmony Besides, if you were to fall, Barrister could take Equestria easily. So remember, you're not only protecting your sisters, you're also protecting me, and Equestria. I’ll send word that Starlight is going with you, and I’ll also give you stones to infuse into the weapons. Magic weapons are always in high demand, as they provide more than strength. Now, go wait at the mirror. I’ll send everything shortly. Oh, and Radiant? Don’t worry about my soldiers, they know the risks, so train them like you train your sisters, and the Elements of that world.” She said as Radiant smiled and the three walked out of the Library and to the throne room.
Canterlot
“Wow so it was that easy to get Celestia to help you? I thought for sure she would have been more...strict.” Sunset said as Radiant smiled and looked back at the army training.
“She only said yes because we have fought side by side, and against each other, so she trusts me to do what's right and I refuse to let her down.” Radiant said as they entered the room and began discussing Starlights training and her weapons. Several hours passed as the trainees and the girls were on their last bouts of stamina before collapsing, in a foot of brilliance the soldiers outmaneuvered the girls and nailed each of the girls’ unique armor “Kill points”. The trainees offered their hands and pulled the proud girls to their feet as everyone got into formation and saluted as Adagio stood before the Army.
“ Very good, all of you. Once again, you have proven that you men and women of Equestria have the power to overthrow an enemy as powerful as us. If you keep this level of determination going, a swift and easy victory will be ours, and we will please both Radiant, and your Princess. All Hail Celestia and Radiant!” Adagio yelled, throwing her weapon in the air as the army cheered and roared with agreement loud enough for Radiant to hear and smile.
“See, Adagio? I was right when I said you had the blood of a leader in you.” He said under his breath before resuming the conversation with Starlight and the others. As the night drug on the trainees in the girls were resting in the buildings many facilities and reminiscing on the events of the day.
“So was anyone else surprised when the Trainees scored killing blows on us? To be honest I’d expect them to be… well bad.” Rainbow Dash said undressing before joining the other girls in Radiants private hot spring he had constructed for the girls.
“I still don’t get why Radiant keeps calling them trainees. I mean, they are
“Aw shoot, I bet Radiant’s just doin it to get them pumped and hyped.” She said as Adagio did the same letting her monstrous hair fall to her shoulders before it poofed out.
“The reason he calls them trainees is that, for one, they are used to Celestia’s style of orders and training, and secondly, they are in new bodies, and they still haven't gotten used to I recall several soldiers being very clunky with their movements. They are trainees to Radiant's harsher style of training.” She said as she ran he hands threw her hair.
“You know Adagio darling you really should let me style your hair, that much hair could be dangerous as someone could pull it and drag you down.” Rarity said as Adagio stopped and looked at her reflection in the water.
“No need, I’ll just pull my hair up and secondly my helmet was specially made to hold it under and out of hands that aren’t Sean's.” She said before covering her mouth and blushing.
“Uh oh, is there something you're hiding from us Adagio? Rainbow said with an evil smirk as the other girls leaned in.
“Adagio, dear, you know it’s not polite share keep secrets from friends.” Rarity said as Sonata leaned in and nodded in agreement.
“Ugh fine… I made my helmet the way it was because well… Sean likes to pull my hair when we… ya know.” She said blushing deeply still embarrassed when talking about her and Sean’s sex life.
“Oh so you like it when Sean is rough huh? How rough does he get? C’mon it’s only us girls here, we won’t tell a soul.” Rainbow continued as Adagio relaxed slightly.
“Promise? No one but you girls can know this.” The girls all nodded waiting for the juicy information Adagio kept in her mind. “Well it’s odd with Sean because he is like a totally different person when having sex with me. I mean with Twilight it’s the same few positions every night but when it's with me it’s like this animal comes out and he does all kinds of stuff with me. The kinkiest he’s gotten with Twilight is anal but with me we have anything from choking all the way to full BDSM.” Adagio said as the girls look on with wide mouths shocked at the info they had just learned. “He says it’s cause Twilight is so fragile and isn’t into a variety of kinky things like me. “Y-Yeah you got it perfect Adagio just relax and enjoy what's yours, now if you’ll excuse me that sports drink I had earlier is calling.” She said running to the bathroom as her Rainbow mane fell out of its towel, the girls looked on and began laughing hysterically as their stress melted away.
Meanwhile, in China, Sean was hard at work sparing with his master. The two had been training for hours and while Sean was beginning to get exhausted, his master had looked as relaxed and calm as ever. It was clear to Sean that his master was on a far higher caliber than he was. Sean closed his eyes and cleared his mind before unleashing a flurry of kicks, punches, and grapples. His master smiled and final removed his Gi revealing he body type of a healthy thirty year old man when in reality his master was double that age. Sean followed suit removing his Gi before returning to his flurries now causing he master to actually start putting in effort.
“Good Sean, the key to fighting is to know how to hold back and only unleash your Ki when absolutely necessary. Unfortunately your stamina is still pathetic and leaves you open for mistakes.” He said grappling Sean and flipping him before pressing his palm into Sean throat. “Had this been a true fight you would be dead. Young one, you have the skill. You just need the endurance to compliment what you know. Starting tomorrow morning, I’ll have you run fourteen laps around the island, I will also be changing your diet to match mine.” He said removing his hand allowing Sean to sit up.
“I understand master, I trust your judgment on what's best for me.” His master smiled and helped him up.
“Sean, I have had many pupils over the years, but not once have I seen one who knows respect and shame and uses them as building block to better oneself. The fact that you do this, on top of being from the west, is even more of an surprise. These people you care for must be very important to you. Come, I shall have my monks draw us a bath and I shall inform you on your next steps to becoming a Shaolin and earning your mark amongst our brothers.” He said.
Sean nodded and secretly dreaded the question he had to ask his master. Shaolin were created to protect those who couldn’t but knowing the certainty of death in war Sean felt conflicted to ask his master to condemn so many to death.
Sean and his master relaxed in the hot springs as their muscles loosened and their minds relaxed, though no amount of relaxing could ease Sean's troubled mind. In the time he has spent here he had became close to the other trainees and the elders. He couldn’t bare the thought of losing them in battle. Sean was about to cast this thought out when his ears met something that chilled him to the bone.
“Sean, I know what's troubling you. You are scared to go through with the training because you don’t want to take the lives of soldiers. In times of war, we monks must do what we can to keep peace. Even if it means taking the life another. Am I right?” His master asked as Sean looked down and swirled his hands in the water.
“Actually, no, master. Something else is troubling me. Something I shouldn’t think about until training is complete, but it’s gnawing away at me.” He replied as his master chuckled softly and poured Sean a cup of tea.
“A monk must not be afraid of anything. We must let go of all fears and doubts and put our trust in ourselves so please son tell me what eats away at your mind.” He said as Sean sipped from the grey clay cup.
“My wife and friends are in grave danger, their lives and the life of my child is threatened by the looming fog of a war I fear we will lose. Master I ask if can take some of the masters back home with me to fight beside me in the war. I’ve had someone talking with the triad to help but I haven’t heard from my informant in days. They said they would provide the monks with weapons to help combat and to increase their chances of survival. Master, I ask because four more years of training is nothing compared to you and the other masters.” Sean replied choking back tears and lowering his head in a bowing manner. His master stood out of the water and dumped a bowl of water on Sean's head.

Complete my training, earn your mark, and I will provide you with the warriors you seek.” He replied as Sean stood up and bowed thanking him, now more than ever Sean had the drive and determination to achieve his goal and from now on he would vow to never lose his flame.
