Chapters Life Is Who You Spend It With
The sunlight from your room window beads into your eyes, causing you to awake from your slumber.
"Hey Twilight." You say as she opens the castle doors.
"Oh, hello Anon, how are you today?"
"I'm fine. Actually, I came to ask if you needed any help with anything."
"No as a matter of fact, I wasn't planning to do anything but have a picnic with the girls today. Do you want to tag along?
"Sure I'd love to." You shoot back almost as fast as she had finished her question.
"Well, then sounds like a plan."
While you were waiting for Twilight to finish getting prepared for the picnic, you began to read comics with spike.
After reading about a comic book superhero that bore a lot of the same characteristics as Superman, you hear Twilight say,
"Alright I'm ready, Anon."
As you turn to look at her you see that she's brought a basket of sandwiches. You couldn't wait to tear into those badboys.
"Ok so should we get going?"
"Yep, and Spike remember to do everything I told you." Spike responded by giving Twilight a sharp salute and a.
"Yes Ma'am!" You couldn't help but give a chuckle at the sight of Spike's actions.
On the way to the picnic area, you began to speak toTwilight about how she's been and how you've been. The conversation wasn't exactly engaging but at least you had a chance to speak to her. When you reached the picnic site, the first one to notice you two was Pinkie Pie.
"Twilight's here and Anon's here too!" Pinkie zoomed past Twilight and began to head your way.
"Oh my gosh this your first time having a picnic with us, we should totally have a party about this." These words terrify you as you recall all of the parties Pinkie has thrown for you. So much cake. So many games. So much...Pinkie.
"Actually, I'm good on the party, Pinkie."
"What that's crazy, no one passes up on my parties."
"Well consider this the 1st, I don't want a party just this yet, but I'll let you know when."
"Okie Dokie." She answers with an ear to ear grin. As you walk over to the tree that Rarity, Rainbow, and Applejack were resting under.
"Oh yeah, sandwich time." You say, as you lick your lips. Reaching out for the basket of sandwiches, you stick your hand in and pull out two sandwiches, taking off the tomatos, you lick your lips and take a bite. "Mmmmmm." Is the only thing you can say as you chew on the delectable piece of food.
"It looks like your enjoying them sandwiches." Says AJ.
"Mhmmm." Is your only response.
"Well you can wash that down with some cold and crisp apple cider." The thought of AJ's apple cider made you stop demolishing your sandwhich and give her a round of ferocious nods.
"Thanks a lot."
"No problem Anon." After your quite filling meal you lay back against the tree and begin to look in Twilight's direction.
"Hey Anon." Rainbow Dash asks but you don't really hear her.
"Hey Anon!" This time you hear her and you respond by turning your head and giving her your attention.
"So, what you lookin' at huh?" She says rather playfully. Soon after hearing this your cheeks begin to feel hot.
"Uh nothing."
"You sure that you weren't lookin' at Twilight?" When saying this she caught the attention of AppleJack and Rarity.
"Wait What." They both say in unison. The three mares have their eyes locked on you. Seeing as there was no way out of this and since Twilight was speaking to Fluttershy and Pinkie while not bring anywhere near you four, you decide to come clean.
"Yes I was looking at Twilight." The girls responded by giving you an

"Pray tell why you have such a facination with Twilight.
"Yes, In fact I fell in love with her the day I met her, it was something about those beautiful amethyst eyes, I always saw them as enchanting. But it isn't just her eyes, it was always her personality that proved to be the strongest reason of attraction. I just love how determined and down to the planet she is."
"Awwww." They all responded
"But I can't tell her how I feel."
"Why not." Rainbow Dash asked concerned
"Because it'll never happen."
"Oh nonsense dear, how would you know something like that."
"It's not hard, I mean just look at me, I'm a hairless ape."
"But what does it matter what the outside is like, the personality always holds the strongest beauty."
"But what she finds my personality to be ugly also?"
"Darling, listen to me, you are not ugly in the slightest way."
"Whatever you say Rarity."
After the picnic you had walked Twilight back home.
"I had lots of fun today, thanks for inviting me Twilight."
"Yeah I did too."
"Well, I'll see you tommorow."
"Oh and I almost forgot, Spike, the girls, and I are going to be attending the gala next monday, so when were gone you'll know where we'd be.
"Oh ok, that's cool.
"Well goodnight Anon."
"Goodnight to you too, Twilight." When you made it home, you saw the mailmare had come by your mailbox. You opened it to see that there was a gold, well more of a bronze ticket. It read "Princess Celestia hereby invites you to the Great Galloping Gala."
"Oh isn't that what Twilight's going to? Well sure, sounds interesting enough." After you let yourself in, you started to go through your kitchen until you came across a box of cookies. "Time to pig out." You thought to yourself as you pulled them from the cabinet. Then a revelation dawned upon you, as you remember that the gala is a dance in Canterlot...a formal dance. Grabbing and some bits and four more cookies you hightail it from your house to the Carousel Boutiqe. You banged on Rarity's door.
"Yes?"
"Rarity I need you."
"What is it dear?"
"So I've just been invited to the gala and-"
"Oh that's wonderful dear, maybe this is the opportunity you need in order to show your feelings to Twilight. But you don't have any formal wear, not to worry I have just what you need." Finishing her words Rarity made her way towardes her tool box.
"Anyway I brought some bits to pay for the clothes."
"Let's not be too hasty now, seeing as this is your first gala and an opportunity to tell Twilight how you feel this suit is absolutely free of charge."
"Oh thank you so much Rarity."
"Your welcome dear. After all I am the element of generosity." After hours of work she had finished the suit. It was a sapphire suit with Topaz plaid. When you said goodbye to Rarity and made it home you put the suit in your room, then went to bed.
"Should I really tell Twilight how I feel?"

When you had completed your overtime shift at the coal factory on sunday, you explained to your employer that you wouldn't be able to make it in make Monday because of the gala. He totally agreed and even gave you a paid day off since it was such a big occasion.
"Thanks sir."
"No problem Anon you deserve it, your one of my best workers here. When you come back, keep up the great work and you might get a pay rise."
"You got it."
"Alrighty then, I'll see you on Tuesday." After saying goodbye to your employer, you decided to head home. On the way there you see Rarity walking with Sweetie Bell.
"Hey, Rarity."
"And hello to you as well dear."
"So about the gala."
"Oh you need advice on how to court Twilight. Well first go buy her some flowers, not now but only when we get to Canterlot so that they will be more fresh. Once you've done that comment on how great she looks. Finally, ask her to a dance."
"Wow, you've got a lot of experience with this dating thing don't you?"
"Indeed, I have been courted many times my dear."
"Alright that's the only thing I needed to ask you."
"Well I must get going."
"I guess I'll see you at the gala, Rarity"
"And the same to you Anon." At your house, you got dinner ready, it wasn't much, just mashed potatoes and gravy. After eating you got your suit from room closet. And set it down on your bed. You went downstairs to the living room, sat on the couch and turned on the television. Soon falling asleep. The next day you woke up at around 10:17 A.M. You made your way to the shower, scrubbing vigourously. Once you had finished your daily hygenics, you put on the suit and melted at the feel of apoulstry.
"God, I love you Rarity." You say as you walked out of your house.
"How are you tod-, oh Anon you look rather dashing."
"Thank you Rarity. So how do I get to Canterlot?"
"Oh you'll be taking a train with us at 1:20 P.M. Wait dear do you happen to know what time it currently is?" Pulling up your left hand, you look at your watch and say.
"12:01 A.M." This seemed to strike fear into Rarity as she boltod into the boutiqe.
"I guess she didn't know what time it was." A few moments later Rarity emerged from her home with a purple dress complemented with diamonds.
"Thank Celestia that you told me in time, Anon."
"Your welcome, I guess." When the whole "running late" ordeal ended, you both decided to head to Twilight's. Once you made it you had seen that the others had worn their own dresses as well, even Spike wore a suit and what seemed to be a fake mustache.
"Ok everypony, are you all ready for the gala?" Rainbow Dash responded by screaming.
"Buck yeah!"
"Rainbow Dash, language." Rarity said as she stared Rainbow down. When you saw Twilight your heart fluttered at the sight.
"Wow." Is just about all that you can say. When Twilight looks around she spots you and begins to head your way.
"You've got a ticket it seems." She said with a smile.
"Yeah neither can I." After some small conversations you and the others decided to start making your way to the Ponyville train station. After showing your ticket to the conductor you found a seat and sat down with AppleJack, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity.
"So Anon when are you gonna tell Twilight how you feel?" AppleJack asked.
"Yeah you two would make a great couple." Rainbow Dash snickered. AppleJack nudged her with an elbow.
"Remember what I told you dear and trust me you will not go wrong." Rarity assured you.
"Alright I'll try my best." The train ride was as long as you expected it to be, you all made it to Canterlot at 6:15 P.M. Exactly 15 minutes before the actual start of the event.
"Hey Rarity, where can I get those flowers?"
"Oh I know the best floral shop in Canterlot. Just follow me."
"Lead the way."
"Well hi there, welcome to my shop, tell me how I service you today?"
"Hey I'd like a bouqet of violets please."
"Sure thing, that'll be 40 bits please." You reach into your pouch and pull out the 40 bits.
"Thank you."
"No really thank you."
"What kind of flowers did you ge- oh why darling those are astonishing magnificent."
"Really? I got them because they reminded me of her."
"Oh now isn't that sweet. But I think it's time we head to the castle don't you?"
"Yeah that sounds about right." As you made your way to the castle, you met up with 4 of your friends.
"Oh Anon, those flowers look wonderful." Fluttershy whispers
"You think so? He got em' for Twilight." AppleJack informed. Pinkie and Flutters gasped with suprise.
"Oh wow Anon, that's so great. When she says yes I'm totally throwing that party."
"Whatever you say." Once you all made it to the castle, you caught a glimpse of Twilight. "She is so beautiful." You thought. After Celestia and Luna had said a few words welcoming the guests, you decided to find Twilight.You saw Rarity talking to her.
"Anyway someone wants to talk to you." She says as she points her hoof towards you and Twilight turns to face you.
"Hi Anon. So what is that you want to tell me."
"Well Twilight, I just wanna say that I uh, well." You stumble over the words.
"What is it Anon, whatever it is you can tell me."
"I-I love you Twilight, I have for a very long time now. That's why I bought these flowers because you always reminded me of a beautiful violet in the spring. So I ask of you two things, do you love me and can I have this dance." You say bowing.
"Anon I-I don't know what to say."
"So you love me back?" You say with a mile wide smile glued to your face. She thought about it for a second, then she spoke.
"Anon I don't love you, I'm sorry." Forget your heartbreaking it was disentegrating at this point.
"But why?" You say ask quiet as Fluttershy usaully spoke.
"Because I like you as a friend, and I'm not ready for a realationship right now."
"But I-"
"No Anon, I'm sorry."
"I understand. Here, you can still keep the flowers." You hand her the flowers and walk out of the doors of the castle.
"Hey Anon how'd it go?" AppleJack asked
"She said no."
"Oh Anon I'm sorry to hear that. Feel better ok."
"Mhm." Is all you can say as she walks through the castle doors. Then you think about Twilight again and before you know it you're sobbing loudly. So loud in fact you catch the attention of Celestia who was in the overlook of the castle. She descends on your position
"Anon are you alright?"
"I'm fine Celestia, It's just I told Twilight how I feel and-" your lip begins to quiver and you start to cry again.
"Oh my, I've never seen you cry like this Anon, you must have really kept this secret to yourself for a while haven't you?" You simply nod and hang your head over her shoulder. She stayed with you until the gala ended.
"Well you must be heading home now Anon and I shall as well."

That following morning you had been woken up by a knock on your door. You just stay in bed until the pony knocking on your door could get the message that you couldn't be bothered. Soon the knocking had ceased and once it did you decided to get up and prepare for work. After getting out of bed you discover that you slept in your formal wear.
"Where did I get-" before you could finish your sentence, the memories of last night hit you like a bullet.
"And to you to Anon." After giving him your time sheet, you made your way to your usual work station. It was any normal shift, but the recent events of last night made it hard on your mind to stay focused, causing you to eventually freeze now and then. Even with the consistent thoughts of Twilight giving you hell, you finally complete the shift. On the way home you saw a bar, deciding that a drink would help you loosen up, you head in. You made your way through the bar, making it to the bar stools.
"What's the strongest stuff you guys got here?" The bartender turns around and grabs a bottle from the shelf, pulling out a long bottle with a clear liquid.
"How's that?" You nod your head in confirmation. He then proceeded to get a small shot glass. But before he could pour the contents into the glass you stop him.
"No put it in a regular mug."
"Looks like you've got a lot on your mind." He says as he fulls your mug with the alcohol."
"You have no clue." You retort as you take a swig of the strong smelling potion. It stung but it didn't sting as much what Twilight said last night. After finishing the mug off you ask the bartender how much for the bottle.
"Just take it." He answers while cleaning the mug.
"Alright thanks." You say as you returned back home. During your trip you come across AppleJack.
"Howdy Anon."
"Hey."
"You feelin' any better about last night?"
"No." You say as you walk past her. Once you made it home, you put the bottle on the kitchen table. Deciding to start dinner, you look in the cabinets and find some mix for haybrownies. While cooking your were sitting on the couch drinking your alcohol waiting for the brownies to finish cooking when a knock was heard on the door.
"Hey I was just wondering if you were okay."
"Well." You say getting a drink from the bottle. "What do you think?"
"Oh, well get better soon."
"Hmph, sure whatever, you want brownies?"
"No I'm good."
"Suit yourself." You say as she starts to head back to Cloudsdale.
The month that followed the night at the gala. You had completely stopped hanging out with any of the Mane 6 and started to hang out with your one and only "Dragon's Spit", that's what the alchol bottle was called. You had also stopped shaving thus leaving a raggy and unkempt beard to stick to your face. At least you stayed on your work schedule and this was your monthly week off. You had made a big collection of Dragon Spit bottles on your kitchen table. After dinner you were sitting on the couch watching tv when this particular pony started to remind you of a certain mare. After getting destroyed by mental images and thoughts of Twilight, you made a beline for the kitchen table grabbing a bottle and jugging some of the potion down. You then began to drink away the thoughts until you were completely hammered and eventually you collapsed out of drunkiness.
"Oh and that's really helpful to what microscopic piece of self esteem I have left right now."
"Look sugarcube, we know how you feel."
"Oh sure." You say taking a hearty jug of the bottle you passed out with. "You know how I feel, are you kidding me?
"No we really do Anon." Rainbow Dash Interjects.
"Ok do you know what it's like to have your year long crush tell you that he or she doesn't love you, grinding your already fragile and frequently broken heart to absolute dust while also tearing your soul apart at the seams? Thus leading you to a deep depression that can only be temporarily quenched by drunken debauchery? I mean let's face it, all of you are going to find your special someponies while I will be forced to watch as you all have your weddings and children as I am doomed to die an old unhappy, loveless and drunken old man. So do you really know how I feel?
"There's no way you could no that Anon darling."
"Oh but I do and you wanna know how I know this? It's because I am an ugly and unsightly ape to all of you, I don't belong here, yet on Earth it's exactly as bad. So the funny thing is that no matter what planet I go to I will not find love not here, not ever!
"Anon do you really feel that way?" Applejack asked with tears streaming from her face.
"Yes. And even though you may not notice it now but it will happen. Now can you all please leave me to my grieving?" Once you said this Pinkie's fluffy mane and tail deflated and became straight.
"Who the hell is doing thi-Twilight." You say as you recognize the origin of the purple aura. You made an attempt to run from the aura but to no avail as it envoloped you as it became bright. When the brightness had ceased you regained your vision and noticed that your were in Twilight's castle. You turned around to see Twilight facing away from you. "So I'm assuming that you teleported me here by accident, I'll let myself out." Making your way to the door handle, the door was instantly covered in Twilight's magical aura. "Dammit." You mutter under your breath.
You turned back around to see that Twilight was still facing away from you. You were about to take a drink of the bottle when it was suddenly flung from your hands and into the adjacent wall. "Twilight look, I'm sorry for asking you out. I don't know what I was thinking, it was hopeless from the start, I am an ape after all."
"What the others told me, was it true? Did you really mean all those things you said?"
"Well of course I did, it was the truth." After saying this Twilight gasped.
"Did I really hurt you that much?" She turned to look at you and she widened her eyes and her mouth fell a gape upon seeing your new hobo beard. Her jaw started to quiver and she began sobbing loudly. "Oh Celestia what have I done to you? You loved me so much that the only way to get the thought of me off of your mind was to drink?"
"Yeah I did." Before you could say something else she tackled you to the floor and began to sob into your shoulder.
"Oh Anon I'm sorry I hurt you!"
"Why are you apologizing?"
"Because your mind must have tormenting you."
"I guess your right there."
"Anon?"
"Yes?"
"Do you still love me?"
"Of course I do."
"That's good because I think I love you too."
"Wait I'm not reading you, what?"
"I love you Anon."
"But I thought you didn't?"
"I thought so to but when I thought about all you've done for me and how nice you treated me I realized that I loved you too."
"Are you saying this just to make me feel better."
"Is this just saying that I love you?" She says as she leans in to kiss you. You were hesitant at first but then you met her and exchanged a long and deep kiss. You broke the kiss then you look at her and she looks at you. This time you lean in for the kiss both shedding tears as you feel the emotion between the two of you become overwhelming. After sealing the kisses you and Twilight walked out of the castle doors to be greated by the remaining 5 elements cheering for you both. You went home and threw out the bottles of Dragon Spit in your home with the aid of Twilight. Once you finished cleaning you went to Twilight's castle, made dinner with her and went to bed with her falling asleep in each others embrace.
