White and Grey
Brief History
Load Full Story"Hello fillies and colts. Today we will learn of The Great Pony war," said the teacher with a dull voice. It was if she wanted to leave, like the students do. "The Great Pony war started when a group of Zebras, Griffions, and Bat ponies attacked Manehattan. After the attack, Equestria started to ready it’s arms for a counter attack. This counter attack is known as “The battle of Manehattan” which lasted for four days."
The school was quite a small place, having room for almost nothing but the student desks, which weren't big to begin with. The front of the room had a dirty chalk board that had a few dates with names of battles next to them, going in order of oldest at the top and newest at the bottom. The room itself was a darker grey, industry looking room with poor lighting, which was connected by hanging wires.
"With Equestria winning this battle the enemy retreated for reinforcements, what would later follow was The Battle of Canterlot. While Equestria was defending its capital the enemy destroyed most of Manehattan and other East coast towns and cities.” At this point the teacher some how managed to sound even more bored and unamused. "Any questions about the beginning of the war?"
It took a few seconds before a hoof was raised with a small filly that was only about 8 years old. The filly was a light brown color with a messy mane that was a dirty blonde helping to hide the dirt and grime in her mane. "What was Equestria like before the war?" asked the filly with a confused face as if the question it self wasn't a good question.
The teacher gave an unamused stare before answering. "Little is known about Pre-war Equestria, but most assume it was a bad place where hate ruled and pain was common," the teacher seemed to be annoyed by the little filly. “Anyways let’s move onto the next major event, The Anti-Freedom Act, which took away freedom from ponies who couldn't pay the government 250 bits for the war effort. This jump started the civil war that spread across Equestria fast."
The little filly raised her hoof again. “Why would they force ponies to pay for?"
The teach sighed with annoyance. "I don't know, I'm not from that time period. Anyways, let's keep moving along before school ends. The next major event was the fall of princesses which caused the government to collapse and the destruction of Equestria. After the government fell the enemy destroyed city after city making sure that Equestria was destroyed for good," with her finishing saying that the bell rang. "Don't leave yet fillies and colts you still have to watch the short film."
The teacher pulled a white tarp down then walked to the back of the room to turn on the projector. What showed up on the white tarp was a countdown with static, both on the sound and tarp. A voice was heard as a cartoon pony popped up onto the white tarp. "Remember fillies and colts, hard work plus supporting your government equals happy living," the pony said. A small pony that looked like he was working hard had plus sign next to the it, separating it from the government building that had a equal sign separating it from the happy pony. “So fillies and colts, don't forget to go to your local government building and pay your percent of the cost of living!" with that the film ended.
The teacher was drooling as she almost collapsed on the floor. "You… can go… now...," the teacher said as she fell asleep in the back of the room.
The little filly and the others ran out of the room. The doors of the dull-looking school opened, and came out the fillies and colts. The filly was on the street, and she looked around. The buildings next to the school were brick buildings that lack any details, even lacking windows. The buildings across from the school had billboards saying, "Feeling down, Depressed, or unhappy? Well go to your local government happy house to cheer up," as well as, "Visit your local government theater to watch the best of films," some of the billboards were almost impossible to read, while others simply had white text on a black background.
Even with billboard the town lacked color or theme, the sky was no better with the pegasus never letting sun through until the town meant it's monthly payment. Even then it only lasted for one, single day.
The filly ran down the road, passing building after building. When the filly finally came to a stop she crossed the road and walked up to a tall brick building with a billboard saying," Government appartments." The filly opened the front door and walked into the lobby that only had a small desk with a few folders that contained the information about who lived in what room as well as a small clipboard for ponies to sign in and out.
The filly walked up to the desk picking up the clipboard and signing in with her name next to room she lived in. With that done she ran up spiraling stairs until she reached the third floor. She walked down the long hall until she found her room where her and her parents lived.
She opened the door and was greeted by her parents asking, "How was your day honey?"
"It was okay," The filly replied with bit unsatisfied voice as she walked into the living room and sat down on the old chair that faced a painting of a window.
"Is something wrong honey?" her mother asked worried that her filly was sad," Do you need to go to a Happy House?"
"No, I'm just tired," the filly said in a sad voice.
"Oh, okay maybe you should get some sleep then before we have to go to work," the filly mother said in a caring yet concerned voice.
"Okay mom, I will," the filly said as she got up and walked to her room.
The filly's room was a small room that had a few band posters that read," Anti-Pain," and "KeyDom.”. The room also had a small bed with a small nightstand next to it, at the foot of the bed was a small trap door that led into a little storage area.
The filly plopped onto her bed and opened her nightstand to pull out a book called, "Path way of happiness."
"It's not fair. Why is every other pony happy but me. Is something wrong with me or something?" the filly questioned, wanting to know the answer sooner than later," Am I a bad pony? Do I deserve to be sad?”
A few hours past with the filly questioning why she was sad and why every other pony was happy. As time kept going by the filly eventually fell asleep.
