Twilight of Harmony: Equestria Girls
Chapter 4
Previous ChapterSparks and Sunset got out of the latter’s car laughing.
“I seriously cannot believe that Jazz did that.” Sunset said.
Sparks chuckled. “Yeah, when it came to shenanigans, Jazz could be pretty creative. But since we were Special Forces, punishments were handled a lot differently than they were for the regular soldiers. It is a small career field and it takes years to train someone. Given that it was only a table, a window, and some wounded pride, the 1st Sergeant went easy on her with just taking a single rank. Could have done a lot worse to her.” She replied.
Sunset shook her head smiling as she linked arms with the taller woman, making sure to stay on her left side.
Sparks smiled widely and leaned her head down and gave Sunset a kiss on the top of her head.
“What was that for?” Sunset asked, tilting her head up to look at Sparks.
“Because I felt like it.” Sparks replied, still smiling as the pair approached the restaurant that Sunset had picked out, a nice sushi place she had heard about but never tried.
"I can accept that." Sunset replied as the entered the restaurant.
Soon the pair was seated.
"So, How is it operating separately from the Equestrian government?" Sunset asked.
Sparks chuckled. "Damn Sunny, starting with the hard questions." She said with a smile before sighing. "In some cases, it is easier and others it is harder. One the one hand, it is a strictly military organization, so when issues crop up, we send a team or entire unit depending upon how big the problem is. Most of our current operations, outside mopping up the last of the die hard loyalists of the fuhrer, have been doing anti piracy patrols and doing what we can to ensure that the shipping lanes stay open. Thankfully, most of the other nations are fine with it and appreciate it. The pirate issue had gone on for a long time due to no one really having an organized navy to deal with them. On the other hand, I have to deal with visits from the nobility periodically, trying to rein me in. I abhor politicians. Nobility is worse. I did enjoy when they sent Fancy Pants and Fleur De Lis. That was entertaining."
"How so?" Sunset asked.
"Those two, they are the most down to earth ponies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They actually care about the people that they represent in the court, not their interests. And Fancy knows he is a damn lucky stallion for having Fleur at his side. And in his bed. She does yoga. Quite, umm, proficiently." Sparks replied with a light blush.
"Oh really?" Sunset said with a smirk.
"Yes, on their week long visit to Ponyville, she had inquired about a gym. We had just gotten one setup, and I asked one of the non-coms that was near by to show her where it was." Sparks explained. "I went to the gym the next morning to do my workout and bam, there she is, mare is like sex on legs to begin with, but throw in yoga pants and top, I had to turn around and take a cold shower."
Sunset laughed. "Really, seriously? You got hot and bothered by a noble's wife?" She asked between chuckles.
Twilight gave her a flat look and pulled out her cell phone.
"This thing isn't much use outside of the camera, but this is Fleur on the other side of the portal." She said bringing up a picture, a selfie of her and Fleur.
Sunset's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Is she a supermodel or something? I mean damn, you said sex on legs, but damn!" She said after a second.
"I know right. Damn near ripped my pt shorts when I saw her with her ankles behind her head. Needless to say, that was a wank I wasn't proud of." Sparks said scratching the back of her neck.
Sunset looked at her with confusion. "What do you mean?" She asked.
Twilight's eyes widened. "Ah, did I forget to mention that? Yeah, when I was returning to my usual, majestic, form-" She said before she was interrupted by Sunset.
"Okay, down Trixie." She said with a teasing smile.
Sparks' rebuttal was halted as their food was brought out and their drinks were refilled.
"As I was saying, when I was returning to my female Equestrian form, Magic decided to troll me." Sparks finished.
"How so?" Sunset asked, eyebrow raised.
"Inowhavebothsetsofreproductiveorgans!" Twilight said quickly.
Sunset blinked, raised her hand to point at Twilight and opened her mouth, stopped, started to say something, stopped again, began to rub her chin as she filtered the conversation through her mind again, and then finally blushed so hard her entire face down to the neckline of her blouse went red.
"Yeah. So it has been awkward for the last almost year. When I was on Earth, I had a live in girlfriend who stuck by me through the changes. Apparently it is an alicorn thing, cause both Celestia and Luna are packing too." Sparks smirked a bit. "Luna and I managed to extract a Pinkie Promise out of Celestia to not tell Cadance since she hadn't bothered to warn her that it would show up after forty years or so."
Sunset's eyes widened. "That is evil!" She exclaimed before smirking. "I approve." She purred out.
Sparks chuckled as a shiver went down her spine. "Eh, my brother never mentioned that he was dating my old foalsitter, much less that he was engaged to her. I only found out when I got the invitation to the wedding." She said. "I think that this will be a good prank. And given that Cadance is the Princess of Love, it probably won't be anything he isn't used to, just it will be permanent."
Both women looked at each other and burst out laughing.
"So how 'well endowed' are we talking?" Sunset asked.
"In this body, about ya long and ya big around." Sparks replied using her hands to approximate the size. "Other side of the mirror, about this."
Sunset blinked, and then narrowed her eyes and licked her lips.
"You know, I am thinking that the internet has corrupted you." Sparks said, smirking at the wanton look in Sunset's teal eyes. "Because I think I may have just stumbled upon a kink."
"Oh, what is there something wrong with liking amazonian dick girls?" Sunset asked with a smirk.
"Not at all. Though I don't really consider myself amazonian. I mean, yeah six foot is tall for a female, but I don't see myself as gigantic." Sparks said.
"Sparks, I'm five foot five. To me, you are huge." Sunset replied. "Plus all that lean muscle, you are a damn walking wet dream for me. Makes me wonder what attracted you to me."
Sparks gave Sunset a loving look. "You have your own strength. You have risen from the ashes stronger than you were before. You have taken everything that you learned about friendship and made yourself a better woman. You have let your true self out and she has thrived, even when there was a setback. You dusted yourself off and, even if it took a while, you came back and were better because of it." Sparks said with determination. "You have a strength that amazes and inspires me. Since returning and reading over the conversations in the journals, just the strength that you have has inspired me and helped me find the strength to get through the day sometimes."
Sunset was taken aback by Sparks's response. "I help you? But how? You seem like, especially now, you have a strength that I couldn't even come close to." She replied.
Sparks sighed as she rubbed her left arm. "A lot of that is being able to put on a face that portrays that strength. There have been so many times in the last almost year that I have been plagued by doubts that I had the capability to lead an army numbering over a million." She sighed. "Before any of this, I didn't have much in the way of leadership experience. Before it was just the other Elements and even when I was in the army, the most I had was a squad. Going from a Sergeant to a General is a big leap and I am always questioning whether or not I am making the right decisions. I found it difficult to not take the deaths of my troops personally. I always have to take a moment to center myself and get my bearing back in place before I leave my office. Only my old team, who are my personal security detail, have really seen me not at my best. And even then, there is only so much they can do to help. When I get in those funks, I think about you. How you have risen above and even when you were down, you still had the strength to stand tall. That helped me find the strength I needed to carry on."
Sunset placed a hand on Sparks's prosthetic hand, not flinching at the feel of the metal under the glove.
"And, cheesy as this may sound, means that you are stronger than you think. You aren't afraid to admit, even in private, your doubts and fears." Sunset said, lifting the prosthesis. "When you lost your arm, you could have just given up, but you didn't. From what you said, you have fought like hell to get home. You didn't expect to walk into the situation that you did. But you rose to the challenge and did admirably. No one, not even Celestia has any right to ask more of you. You understood, better than her, what you were sending your people into. You, and all of them, knew the risks. You all accepted them and met them. That to me, is strength." She said, placing a kiss on Sparks's knuckles.
Sparks swallowed thickly as she blinked her eyes clear. "No one has ever quite put it that way before." She said. "Or rather never put it in a way that actually got through my thick skull." She added with a self-deprecating smile. "And don't try to say I don't have one. I made the conscious decision to choose a job that had me jumping out of perfectly good airplanes into places where people wanted to kill me. I have to be a bit hard headed to get through it."
"Maybe, but I have an outside perspective and I'm not likely to just tell you things to make you feel better. I know I have your trust to be honest, and I wouldn't betray that, not after all you have done for me." Sunset replied.
After that, the pair finished their dinner and headed back to Sunset and Twilight's apartment. When they got there, the apartment was empty. Sparks found a note from Jazz on her sleeping bag.
"Took the troublemakers to a movie. Have fun and enjoy yourselves. ;)"
Both women chuckled and rolled their eyes.
A short time later, as Sparks was getting into her sleeping bag, Sunset came out of her room.
"Hey, come lay down with me." She said.
Sparks raised an eyebrow. "Oooo, inviting the warrior princess to your chambers, M'lady? So scandalous." She said with a smile.
Sunset rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Just get in here if you want cuddles." She said, blinking as a flash of purple filled the room.
"I await my big spoon!" Came the call from her bedroom.
Sunset snorted as she re-entered her room and climbed into bed behind the taller woman. She snuggled up behind Sparks and wrapped an arm around her.
Sparks sighed as she snuggled back.
"What's wrong?" Sunset asked.
"Nothing, just content." Sparks replied before yawning. "Good night."
"Good night." Sunset said, placing a kiss on Sparks's shoulder.
Jazz and Twilight poked their heads in several hours later, and shared a smile at the pair cuddled together.
"I haven't seen her that relaxed in years." Jazz said after they had retreated down the hall.
"It looks like I might be able to take Luna up on that offer to move in together guilt free." Twilight replied with a smile.
Jazz cocked her head to the side. "How so?"
"She has wanted me to move in with her, but since it is both Sunset and I paying the bills, I didn't want to leave her in a lurch." Twilight replied as she started to make a cup of tea. "But after tonight, I think she may wind up going home with you, issues with Princess Celestia or not."
Jazz hummed. "Maybe, but that will be up to her. We can't pressure her. Sparks wouldn't like it if we did." She said. "Plus, if she does come back, I get to have fun telling the guys." She added with a smile.
