In the distant future of Equestria, in a time where most of their heroes and saints are regarded nothing more as myths, the ponies have gone beyond the boundaries of gravity to live among the stars and other powerful species. This brought a price, however. The ponies, like many before them, have become slaves to the bastardizations of uncontrollable magic, ambitious technology, and the unquenchable thirst for power. Thus, many lived in the darkest, most miserable places imaginable. A unicorn mare named Bright Light is one of these ponies. She and her brother Lonely spent most of their lives on a faraway planet, gone from their homeland. A story that millions bear and only a few escape from.

Years later, Bright finally returns to Equestria in search for her brother who went missing recently. Thanks to a mysterious helper, Bright manages to find the last known location of her brother. But things go awry when she stumbles upon a magical ritual from a shadowy cult and somehow causes the universe to stand still. In the midst of this dangerous magical surge Bright finds an unconscious pony trapped in glass. A purple alicorn named Twilight Sparkle.

Finding herself in a different time period, Twilight pleads with Bright to help her get back to her own time. Bright, thinking it is impossible, agrees on the condition that she helps her find Lonely. Twilight agrees, vowing that she will help find Lonely in anyway possible. Thus, the adventure begins as the two mares, along with countless others, traverse across space to fight ruthless evil, become space pirates, and faced dangerous gods of magic, of technology. Of numerous species. Of darkness and light.
