The Tyranny Of Queen Daybreaker
Scootaloo was dreaming the most amazing dream. She was flying alongside her idol, Rainbow Dash, making some incredible flight maneuvers. It was a dream she wished she didn't have to wake up from. Then she felt a slight nudge before a feminine voice called, "Scootaloo. Come on sleepy head. Wake up."
It was Windy Whistles, Rainbow Dash's, and now her mother, waking her up. Not long after Rainbow Dash had performed her show for her parents as a thank you, Bow Hot Hoof and Windy Whistles had discovered Scootaloo was an orphan. She wasn't treated badly at the orphanage, nor had she ever tried to run away from it. In fact she was content staying there should she not gain parents while growing up. But, being the ponies they were, the moment they found out the news, they jumped at the chance to adopt her. And she was grateful, and Rainbow Dash was a happy big sister. Whenever she was not training with the Wonderbolts, she was helping Scootaloo to strengthen her wings so she could fly soon and go to junior flight camp.
Today though, Scootaloo was expecting to spend the day in Canterlot with her new parents. Celestia had invited them to the castle, and they had only arrived in the city the day before yesterday. They were not sure why they had been invited, but they didn't question the invitation. Course they did make some wacko theories for fun. Like, Celestia was wanting to challenge them in a cake eating contest, or she was gonna make the family a status of nobility, to making them all alicorns to have an edge on Rainbow Dash til she was made one too.
Just as they were approaching the castle though. There was a huge flash. After getting their focus back, they saw something they were in utter shock over. The castle lay in ruins, like the one that resided in the Everfree Forest. And as they looked to the sky, the were in more shock. A mare, with a horn and wings, as well as flames for a mane and tail soared above them. "Aaah, feels so good to have all this power," the mare bellowed as she looked down at the ponies in canterlot running around in panic.
Scootaloo then noticed, she looked just like Celestia, minus the mane and tail. She then put two and two together and yelled to her "Princess Celestia! Why Are You Doing This?"
This caught the mare's attention. She then soared down to the family, Bow Hot Hoof taking a protective stance. "You dare say that name to me little filly?...... I am...... Daybreaker!" the mare cackled.
The family couldn't move. They were terrified. How could one of their most beloved rulers have turned to evil? Celestia then gestured to Scootaloo, "Seeing as you insulted me with such a name, you must be punished little filly."
Scootaloo watched as Daybreaker started to light up her horn and she blasted it at her, before it hit her though, two figures came into sight, and the blast hit them, and sent them flying into her. When she came to, she was horrified. Her parents were laying there, barely breathing. She then looked at Daybreaker who was laughing. "Well, it looks like I can finish off the memory of that ridiculous mane my weaker form had," she gloated.
Scootaloo screamed, "YOOOOOOU!!!!"
She she charged the mare, full of rage. But Daybreaker merely chuckled, "A spirited little filly. Not much good it will do you. I don't think you can take the heat."
Scootaloo then saw fire erupt from the fire-maned mare's mouth, and braced for impact. When she looked again, she saw that her fur and wings were barely even dirtied. Daybreaker then said, "You survived the blast? How interesting. But let us see how well you do against greater heat."
Before Scootaloo could have chance to see Daybreaker's next move, she was consumed in a mist of darkness. She could hear Daybreaker screaming in anger that she was denied another round with the little filly. When Scootaloo was brought back to the world of light again, she was in some place she was unfamiliar with. Her sight seeing was interrupted as a deep feminine voice said, "It was foolish of you to charge the terror that is Daybreaker like that little filly. You could have been killed."
Scootaloo turned around to see a face all too familiar to her. "Nightmare Moon?! This can't be. Rainbow Dash and Princess Twilight and their friends destroyed you," Scootaloo said.
"I'm afraid it is not that simple Scootaloo. I can never truly be destroyed, only purified. And Twilight and her friends, including your sister, made sure of that," Nightmare Moon stated.
"How did you know Rainbow Dash was my sister?" Scootaloo demanded.
"Hold that question for a moment. Nurse Red Heart!?" Nightmare Moon called.
Red Heart galloped over and asked, "Yes your highness, what is it you require?"
"Take these two ponies to the medical wing, and make sure their wounds are treated. Queen Daybreaker caused them a great deal of damage," Nightmare Moon said.
"Yes your highness, right away," Red Heart answered.
She soon had fellow medical ponies transport Scootaloo's parents. "Y-You said Queen Daybreaker. But she was a Princess before," Scootaloo was cut off as Nightmare Moon lifted her hoof.
"She self-proclaimed herself to be Queen. She tired to destroy me, but thankfully I escaped. I informed the Element Bearers of what had happened, and they soon evacuated as many ponies as they could from other cities before Celestia began her rampage. She conquered Canterlot in no time flat. And she will do the same to any pony who was too stubborn to listen to my warnings. Daybreaker wants to rule Equestria through fear and intimidation. She wants it all. All the ponies we could evacuate were brought here," Nightmare Moon said.
"Where are we exactly?" Scootaloo asked, still keeping her guard up.
"The ancient Norse Tunnels. Norse Ponies built them long before Celestia and my lighter form were able to take on the act of ruling. They were meant as an escape route of our first castle when we were little, should a threat too powerful for us arise, but even Celestia, now turned Daybreaker has forgotten their whereabouts. It was the perfect place to let ponies ride out the storm that is Daybreaker," Nightmare Moon said.
Scootaloo saw much sense in what Nightmare Moon said, but she was still weary of the dark alicorn before her. "How do I know I can honestly trust you? Just a moment ago, Daybreaker tried to kill me and my new parents. How do I know you won't do the same. Today you just saved my life, but the last time we met, you took away my original parents. I didn't hold it against your lighter form, since she was not in control. But I do hold you responsible," Scootaloo stated.
"And I will go to the afterlife regretting that. With all my heart I wish I could summon them back, but it is forbidden to bring ones back from Grazing in the Elysian Fields of Tartarus. I don't expect you to trust me, but I speak the truth when I say I do not wish to harm my charges of Equestira. The only reason I took on this dark form was to have a fare chance against the dark form of my sister. She will pay for what she has committed," Nightmare Moon said.
Scootaloo thought it over, then she looked to the dark mare, and said, "I cannot forgive you for what you did to my parents, Princess Nightmare Moon, but if Rainbow Dash trust you, I can trust you as well."
"Thank you. I will do my best to earn the trust you have given me. Now to answer your previous question, I knew of your sisterly relationship with Rainbow Dash, because she told me. She even asked I keep an eye on you when she could not spare her own. She should be with your parents right now. And she already knows that I did my best to get you three to safety. I am deeply sorry I couldn't arrive sooner," Nightmare Moon stated.
Scootaloo was about to gallop off to the medical wing when Nightmare Moon stopped her in her trek. "I understand you wish to go see them, but there is something we must discuss. It concerns what happened out there today. When you survived the fire blast, and were able to walk away and barely have any scratches to speak of, let alone not being burnt to a crisp."
Scootaloo remember, and sat in front of the dark furred alicorn to listen.
Author's Note
This is my first shot at an Assassin's Creed/MLP crossover, so bear with me if some of the story doesn't make sense. Scootaloo just survived a fire blast. And now, Nightmare Moon's a good mare? Well, this is an interesting development.
