Time and fate are a mystery, no one can control it, nor can they ever change it. In the ancient times, the Equestrians and the beasts of the Everfree lived in perfect harmony. However, fate is an unkind mistress. She saw fit to turn the land of Equus into separate regions. The Griffons to the north, Zebras to the south, Equestrians to the east, and Minotaurs to the west. Those not befitting of these species were wiped out by time and fate.
Our story begins with Eridian, queen of the Lamias, and mother to her son Elpis. Once a proud race, yet now two strong, they clung to survival by the whims of fate. In their holds away from time, they shrunk down in fright, and while survival was key, a romance was begun one of mother and son. Once all was said and done, fate turned upon them, as did time, each with a gift. One of longevity, the other of youth.
As we begin our tale this day, I shall tell you how this gift is a curse.
