The Dash family

Prism was standing in a line with her sister and brother. "Listen up today is very special, your aunt Cumulus and uncle Nick are coming to visit us!" Rainbow Dash barked at her children who were still standing in a line.

Thunder dash was a blue pegasus colt with a dark blue mien and tail.

"Awesome," Thunder happily announced.

Cumulus and Nick were married for almost a year now.

Cumulus and Nick are living in Manhattan now. Cumulus wants to move back to Ponyville, but Nick doesn't seem to be interested in moving to Ponyville.

For now they are just going to visit to see if they have the money to afford a house in Ponyville, if they don't have the money to afford a house they'll have to go back to Manhattan.

"And I expect that you'll be on your best behavior, do you understand?" Rainbow Dash bellowed with a glance at Thunder Dash.

Yes Mom we understand," the siblings yelled in unison as they stood at attention.

Since Rainbow dash and Soarin are co-captains of the Wonderbolts yelling at her kids was normal for Rainbow.

Rainbow smiled to herself.

Then there was a knock on the door, Rainbow went to open the door.

Hi Cumulus it's good to see you again after all these years" Rainbow said, when she had opened the door.

Cumulus is blue Pegasus with a white mane she has and grey eyes because she is blind.

"Mom it's good to see you too," Cumulus said, to her mom.

"We brought presents," Nick said, with a smile.

"Nick your grammar is getting better" Rainbow said, to Nick.

"Thanks, Cumulus has been trying to teach me" Nick said, with a smile.

"Awesome Cue, that you've been trying to teach, Nick" Rainbow said, to her daughter.

"Come in" Rainbow said, with a grin. Nick took Cumulus by the hoof and led her inside the house.

"Auntie Cumulus" a voice piped behind Cumulus.

"Prism is that you?" Cumulus asked.

"Yes it's Prism" Prism said, to her aunt Cumulus.

"Is good thing we brought presents" Nick said, with a smile at Prism.

"Indeed it is" Cumulus said, with a smile at her husband.

"Hey Soarin Nick and Cumulus are here" Rainbow called from the living room.

Soarin was in the kitchen making breakfast. "Ask them if they want some breakfast" Soarin called from the kitchen.

"No thanks we've already eaten" Cumulus called back into the kitchen.

Soarin came into the living room and sat down in one of the big armchair before he spoke: "Hey Cumulus do ya remember me??"

"Soarin is that you?" Cumulus asked with a smile.

"Yip that's me," he replied with a smile at Nick.

"I'm Nick, Cumulus's husband," Nick said, to Soarin.

"It's nice to finally meet ya Nick," Soarin said, with a smile.

"Likewise sir," Nick said, to Soarin.

"Nick there is no need to call me sir, ok? ya can call me Soarin" Soarin said, with a smile.

"Very well Soarin," Nick said, with a smile.

"So Nick ya wanna meet our children?" Soarin asked.

"Yeah I would love to meet them" Nick replied with a grin.

"Awesome" Soarin said, with a smile.

"Hey Lightning and Thunder ya should get down here" Soarin called up the stairs.

The Dash twins came down the stairs with frowns on their faces.

"What do you want!" Lightning snapped at her dad.

"Lightning we would like ya to meet your auntie Cumulus and your uncle Nick," Rainbow said, to her daughter.

"Whatever, I don't care," Lightning snapped at her Mom, before running outside

Thunder followed his sister outside.

Once Thunder landed below his house, Lightning had already made her way to the train station, once Thunder caught up with his sister he started yelling.

"LIGHTNING WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?" Thunder bellowed

"You can't say that to Mom" Thunder continued.

"WHATEVER" Lightning yelled

Rainbow sighed heavily and went to find Lightning Dash.

Cumulus shook her head in disbelief at what she had just heard.

"I'd better go help Rainbow," Soarin said, with a sigh before walking away.

"That is not good, we must do something" Cumulus said, to her husband.

"Yes we must do something, but what?" Nick asked Cumulus.

"How should I know what we must do" Cumulus said, with a shrug.

"Don't ask me if you and I both don't know what we must do" Nick said, with a frown.

Cumulus sighed in frustration, Nick put an arm around Cumulus to try and comfort her.

"There's nothin' to worry about" Nick said, in a calm tone of voice.

"You're right there's nothing to worry about" Cumulus said, to her husband.

Meanwhile: "Ya found her yet?" Soarin asked his wife.

"No not yet" Rainbow replied with a shrug. Soarin sighed heavily.

Thunder came up behind them and cleared his throat to get his parents attention.

"Dad I think I might know what happened" Thunder said, with a sigh.

"Oh no" Rainbow thought to herself.

Thunder handed his dad a note which read "its over I'm not coming back" as Soarin finished reading the note he knew that his daughter was going to kill herself.

They were standing outside at the Ponyville train station, a police officer came up to them and said, "Mr and Ms Dash I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but you're daughter jumped in front of a train.

"NO" Rainbow yelled so that all of Ponyville could hear it.

Rainbow sat down and cried because she loved her daughter.

"Why did she do that?" Rainbow asked through tears.

"We don't know Ms Dash, but we believe it had to do something with the visitors at your house" the police officer said, to Rainbow.

"What" Rainbow yelled.

"You bucking idiot, how could you possibly have any evidence against the visitors that are at my house" Rainbow yelled at the police officer.

"Ms Dash, the information about your daughter is very limited" the police officer said, with a sigh.

"Rainbow let's go home" Soarin said, to his wife.

"Yeah, ok but I'm watching ya" Rainbow said, to the police officer before walking away.

Rainbow took one last glance over her shoulder at the police officer.

"What a waste of time talking to that idiot" Rainbow said, to her husband when they were out of ear shot.

Back at the house:
"Nick we have some bad news for you and Cumulus" Rainbow's husband said, with tears in his eyes.

"Oh no, what happened?" Nick asked with a worried expression on his face.

"Well our.....daughter....killed....herself" the blue pegasus stallion said, with a sigh.

"Oh no that's really bad, is there anything we can do to help?" Cumulus asked.

"Mom what's?" Prism started to ask.

"Prism please just leave me alone" Rainbow said, pushing Prism out of the way.

"But mom if you tell me what's wrong I can.....Prism trailed off.

"What can you help me with?" Rainbow asked her younger daughter.

"Well if you tell me what's wrong maybe I can find a solution to your problems," Prism said, to her mom.

"Oh Prism your sister jumped in front of a train" Rainbow said, through tears.

"What!" Prism yelled at the top of her lungs.

Prism started crying and screaming. "Prism you need to calm down" Nick said, in a calm voice.

"NO I CAN'T CALM DOWN" Prism yelled at Nick.

"Please Prism for your favorite uncle" Nick said, to Prism.

"I hate you so much" Prism yelled at her uncle.

"Ok, if you want us to leave we can" Cumulus said, to her mom.

"That would probably be for the best" Rainbow said, to Cumulus.

Nick walked to the door, Cumulus was quick to follow her husband out the door.

Three weeks later:
"Hey Prism are you ready for your first day of high school?" Rainbow asked her daughter.

"Oh yeah I'm so ready to rock this school" Prism replied with a smile.

"Good because I'm gonna take you to school" Rainbow said, with a grin.

Prism's jaw dropped. "That's awesome mom" Prism said, with a smile.

"Let's go already" Thunder called from the doorway.

"Ok, ok, ok, hold your horses" Prism said, to her brother.

Prism and Rainbow went to the door, Thunder Dash followed his mom and sister outside to the pathway to school. They were walking along the path when something hit Prism in the head.

"Ow, what the hell," Prism said, while looking at her brother.

Thunder shrugged.

"Prism I don't know what hit you" Thunder replied.

They heard a giggle behind them, but when they turned around there was no one there.

"That's really strange, I could have sworn there was someone there" Prism said, with a smirk.
At school:
"Have a great first day of high school" Rainbow said, to her daughter.

"I will sure make a good impression on my first day" Prism said, to her mom.

"That's my girl" Rainbow said, kissing Prism on the forehead. Thunder rolled his eyes.

Once inside:
Prism and Thunder walked to their lockers.

"Well here we are" Thunder said, to his sister.

"Your locker is right next to mine" Thunder said, to Prism with a smile.

Somebody tapped Prism on the shoulder.

Prism turned around to see a very handsome young boy.

Hi my name is Lucas" the boy said, with a grin. "I'm Prism, its nice to meet you" Prism said, with a nervous glance at her brother.

"Hey Lucas, what's up bro" Thunder said, to Lucas. "Not much, and you?" Lucas asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I see you've met my sister Prism" Thunder said, to Lucas.

Lucas has severe cerebral palsy, that means that Lucas can't control his movements, Lucas cannot use his hands or legs, Lucas cannot feed himself so his care giver Martha feeds him, its very hard to understand Lucas sometimes. The bell rang for first period. At the other end of the hallway a group of the most popular ponies were walking towards Prism and her brother.......

"Oh no not again" Thunder said, to Lucas.

"What is it Thunder?" Prism asked her brother.

"Prism ya see those ponies walkin' towards us?" Lucas asked.

"Yeah, we should go and say hi" Prism said, to Lucas. "Um Prism that ain't a good idea" Lucas said, to Prism.

"Why not?" Prism asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Well it just so happens that those ponies are extremely popular, and what's more is they don't like newbies at this school" Thunder said, to his sister.

"Oh yeah, well we'll just have to show them who's boss" Prism said, with a growl.

"Well, well, well if it isn't our old pal Lucas" a voice said, behind Lucas.

Prism let out a low growl.

"Please don't hurt me" Lucas said, in a low voice.

One of the bullies pushed Lucas up against a locker.

"Give us your lunch money" he demanded.

Nightmare leave Lucas alone" Thunder said, to the bullie who was pushing Lucas up against the locker.

"Oh and what's gonna happen if I don't?" Nightmare asked.

"I'm gonna tell my mom" Thunder said, with a twinkle in his eye.

"Oh I'm so scared" Nightmare said, in a sarcastic tone.

"Leave my brother out of this," Prism said, to Nightmare.

"Hey guys look at this, a little filly wants to tell us to leave Thunder crash out of this" Nightmare said, to his friends. Nightmare's friends started laughing at Prism.

"Leave me alone" Prism squeaked.

"Ok but I'm watching you" Nightmare said, to Prism.

"Let's go to class" Lucas said, to Prism.

Prism smiled as she was pushing Lucas in his wheelchair down the hall to their first class. Lucas's wheelchair was green and blue, it had a table, the table rested on the armrests of his wheelchair, so that Lucas could put his arms on the table, at the front of the table there was a handle so that Lucas had something to hold on to. When Lucas gets upset about something, his muscles get really stiff, it gets extremely difficult for him to speak, one must wait until Lucas has calmed down enough to form sentences, one might also tell Lucas to calm down a bit, before he can tell that person what's wrong.

Meanwhile in Manhattan:

"Nick you never told me you had a younger brother" Cumulus said, to her husband.

"I'm so sorry I didn't tell ya," Nick said, to Cumulus.

"Its ok," Cumulus said, with a smile.

"Nick I think my mom might be right about your grammar" Cumulus said, with a wink.

"What do ya mean?" Nick asked.

"Well ever since ya came to Equestria your grammar and vocabulary have been gettin' better every day," Cumulus said, to her husband.

"Nick who is your brother?. Cumulus asked with a confused look on her face.

"His name is Lucas" Nick replied.

"Ok so Lucas is your brother" Cumulus repeated.

"Yeah, we grow up together in orphanage" Nick replied. Nick rubbed the black of his head. "Oh well I guess that's how life is meant to be" he added.

" Oh Nick you are so cute when you are sad" Cumulus remaked before kissing her husband.

Cumulus and Nick moved in for a long and passionate kiss and then a hug.

"Hey Nick do you want to go back to Ponyville?" Cumulus finally asked when they broke the kiss.

"Yeah" Nick replied breathlessly.

Nick's brother Lucas has severe cerebral palsy that means that Lucas cannot walk, and his speech is slurred, meaning it's very difficult for Lucas to talk, especially when he gets very upset.

Back in ponyville: "Lucas do you always get this upset about homework?" Prism asked as they were leaving the classroom.

Lucas's face was red with anger.

"What's....it....to...ya" Lucas spelled out on his communication board that he sometimes uses.

Prism sighed and shook her head.

"Lucas I had a not so good weekend, ok???, so leave me out of this" Prism said, to Lucas. Lucas's hands went up without a warning, indicating that Lucas wasn't going to calm down any time soon.

"Hey dude ya should calm down a wee bit" Thunder said, to Lucas in a calm voice.

That seemed to work, because the next thing Thunder noticed was that Lucas had calmed down enough so he could talk. "I don't need this communication board" was the first thing Lucas said.

"He's back". Thunder said, to Prism.

"Oh great" the blue pegasus filly said, with a roll of her eyes.

"I have a Mansion" Lucas said, with a smile.

"Awesome" Prism said, with a grin.

"My care giver and I live in that Mansion" Lucas said, to Thunder.

"Lucas maybe you can come to our house after school" Prism said, with a smile.

"Ok, sounds like fun" Lucas said, with a grin.

The bell rang for lunch.

"Come on, before there's no food left" Lucas said, with a smile at Prism.

"Hell yeah, this is going to be so awesome" Prism said, to Lucas.
In the cafeteria:
"WOW, this cafeteria is totally awesome" Prism said, to Lucas.

Lucas pointed to a girl standing in line, the minute she saw Lucas she almost dropped her tray of food. She came over to where Lucas was standing.

"Hey up Lucas, how's thee doing?" the girl asked Lucas.

It took Lucas a while to answer. "Good, and you?" Lucas asked with a grin.

The girl was wearing a black and white maid's outfit, she had rosy red cheeks.

"Its nice to see thee again," Lucas said, in broad Yorkshire.

"Hey Martha what's for luncheon?" Lucas asked once they had found a table to sit down at.

"How should I know that" Martha replied with a good natured grin.

"Martha can I go to Prism's house after school?" Lucas asked with a smile.

"Aye sure thee can," Martha said, with a smile at Prism.

"Let me just get thy food, and then we can talk a wee bit more," Martha said, as she got up to get Lucas's specially prepared food.

Lucas's food has to be specially prepared for him, because Lucas has a hard time swallowing.

A short time later Martha came back to the table.

"They'll bring thy food when it's ready" Martha said, as she sat down. Lucas went from being nice and calm to very upset, in a flash.

Martha tried to get Lucas to calm down a bit.

"Lucas calm yourself," Martha said, to no avail.

Martha's words could not break the tension between her friends.

"Lucas thy food will be here in a wee bit" Martha said, in a stern voice.

Lucas lifted his head to look at Martha, he was drooling on the table of his wheelchair.

"Lucas thy food is here," Martha said, as Lucas's specially prepared food was brought to the table. Martha took a plastic spoon from the bag that she always has with her.

Martha proceeded to feed Lucas, most of the food Lucas could swallow, but most of it Lucas couldn't swallow. Martha took a towel from her bag, she put it on the table of Lucas's wheelchair.

After school at the Dash's home:
The Dash family was watching television, Lucas and Martha were sitting in between Rainbow Dash and Soarin Dash.

The Dash family was sitting on the floor, because the couch was too small. Lucas was also on the floor. Martha asked Lucas if he wanted to go on the floor and Lucas said yes right away, so Martha put Lucas on the floor next to Rainbow Dash.

"Rainbow Keep an eye on Lucas," Martha said, to Rainbow.

"Ok if you want me to keep an eye on Lucas I will do that," Rainbow replied with a grin.

Martha smiled to herself. Rainbow glanced over at Lucas who was lying on his side with his head facing the television, Lucas was drooling on the floor.

Rainbow had a lot of towels next to her, Rainbow grabbed a handful of towels, and put them on the floor under Lucas's head, so that Lucas doesn't drool on the floor again. Lucas is a nice lad, he has nice green eyes, and black hair, and he always wears the most expensive clothes money can buy.

Lucas and Martha live in a Mansion called Misselthwaite Manor, in Yorkshire England.

The Dash family was watching the first Transformers movie.

"This is so epic," Rainbow said, to Lucas.

It took a while for Lucas to reply.

"Yeah, this is so cool, I must admit" Lucas said, with a smile at the television.
When the movie was over:

"Well that was the best movie ever" Lucas said, with a grin.

"You took the words right out of my mouth" Rainbow said, to Lucas.

"What now?" Lucas asked with a smile.

"Well my daughter Cumulus and her husband Nick should be here any minute now," Rainbow said, with a smile.

Just as Rainbow Dash was going to tell Lucas about a new book she had been reading, the doorbell rang. Rainbow went to open the door.

"Hey Lucas, Nick is here" Rainbow called over her shoulder.

Martha was putting Lucas back in his wheelchair.

"Let him in" Lucas called back over his shoulder. "Ok If you want me to let him in I can do that" Rainbow said, to Lucas.

She turned back to Cumulus and Nick.

"Come on in," Rainbow said, with a grin at Nick.

And that's exactly what they did.

"Wow Rainbow you have a nice home here," Nick said, with a glance around the house.

"Thanks Nick that means a lot to me," Rainbow said, with a smile.

"Your welcome Rainbow," Nick replied with smile.

"Hey Lucas look who's come to visit," Rainbow said, to Lucas.

Lucas took one look at Nick and then he started to cry.

"Eh, lad what's wrong with thee?" Martha asked. Then she turned to Rainbow.

"I have never seen him so upset, in all my years of taking care of him," Martha said, to Rainbow.

"Maybe it's just a phase that he's going through," Rainbow said, to Martha.

Maybe, but I don't know" Martha said, to Rainbow.

"Ok if you say so" Rainbow said, to Martha.

Rainbow Dash looked at Nick with a big question mark in her eyes.

"Nick is there something ya need to tell us?" Rainbow asked.

Nick took a deep breath and started to explain why Lucas was crying.

"And that's why Lucas is crying," Nick said, with a sigh.

"Hold on let me get this straight, Lucas is your brother?" Rainbow asked with a confused look on her face.

"That's right," Nick replied with a smile.

"Mom, how are you?" Cumulus asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I'm fine," Rainbow replied.

Rainbow didn't want to admit that she was still sad about Lightning's death.

"Mom is everything okay?" Cumulus asked with a smile.

"Oh Cue I miss Lightning so much" Rainbow said, through tears.

Cumulus put a hoof on her mom's shoulder to try and comfort her mom.

"I'm here for you if you ever want to talk," Cumulus said, in a calm tone of voice.

Rainbow Dash wrapped a hoof around her daughter and cried.

"This is not good," Nick said, to his brother.

"No it isn't" Lucas replied.
One month after Lightning Dash's death:
"Hey mom I'd like to move in again," Cumulus said, to her mom.

Rainbow Dash, Cumulus and Nick were sitting at the dining room table.

At this point in his life Lucas had moved out of his foster parents house to go live in ponyville.

"Ok if you're sure you can find a house in ponyville" Rainbow said, to Nick.

"Yeah I hope we'll find a house," Nick said with a smile.

"If you don't find a house in Ponyville than you can move in with us" Rainbow said, to her daughter.

It was a long day of school for Prism and her brother.

The dash family was sitting in the living room, outside the rian was falling in very heavy drops.
