Prologue
Mr. Blue Sky
Prologue
The Red Isle’s Raiders, some of the most feared barbarians in the territory around Equestria. Many are known for taking ponies from the mainland as slaves, keeping to to do labor and other things. The Red Isles are home to a great many of Pegasi, and being located south of Equestria, it has easy prey to raid: fishing boats, villages, etc.
The Southern Islands, what the ponies call the Red Isles, is considered off limits to Equestria’s citizens or it’s soldiers. Celestia decreed that the Islands are inhabited by tribal Pegasi, but she does know better, she knows that the ponies living there are descendants of the old tribe, and only know what they brought with them, survival.
You would occasionally hear about Red Isle Pegasi coming to stay in Equestria, but this is rare, and the Pegasi have to be placed within communities where they are watched, and resocialized, allowing them to live ‘normal’ lives in Equestria.
There is a problem however, a Pegasus by the name of Blue Sky. A fierce raider that kills for getting seen, he is even known to have killed foals, or kidnap them to raise as Red Isle Raiders.
Celestia has put a bounty on Blue Sky’s head, and she wants him alive, to answer for his crimes against her ponies.
The Problem is, she has never been able to find out where he is, or is going to be, which causes her a great deal of stress.
However, this time, she has a plan.
It was early in the morning, sunlight filtering down between leaves in a forest. It was in the part of the forest that a pond resided, allowing many Pegasi to come here and bathe, mate and do other things.
One Pegasus, a male, 5’2 feet tall, with a midnight purple coat and an electric blue mane and tail, would be laying in the grass, his wings splayed out as he laid there.
Many other Pegasi would watch him, as the pond was bustling with life as many washed themselves and their foals.
The Pegasus began rolling around, loving the feeling of the grass, a smile gracing his face. He slowly rolled onto his barrel, and laid there, splayed out just along the shoreline, he was at peace and cherished these few moments he got.
“Blue Sky, you’re needed!” And it’s gone… Sky slowly got up off the ground, shaking himself vigorously before smiling at the mares around the pond, then looking at who was speaking.
It was his friend, Iron Lung, another Pegasus who was apart of the Red Isle Raiders. He was a dark shade of red, with gold hair, which is something that Sky still can’t get over.
“What is it Iron?” Sky would ask, stepping closer, so to not be heard by the crowd, but Iron began leading them down a trail, away from the pond before he started talking.
“The Jarl speaks of raiding Equestria again soon, he is very adamant about it, which many warriors are finding strange, but nonetheless, they get ready for the flight.” Iron explained, Sky nodding as he spoke, “So he wants us to gather more treasure, so soon after the last raid?” He mumbled to himself, nodding, “That is strange.”
They continued along the path, trees on both sides of them, looming tall over them, providing shade from the hot sun. The weather was taking a turn as summer began.
“How’re the farms?” Sky asked, fluttering his wings slightly, taking a deep breathe.
Iron chuckled, “They’re doing better now that the weather has turned around, crops actually have a chance at growing, but I can only hope the farms have a good harvest before winter.” He’d say, shaking his head, “And the fishermen aren’t bringing much fish in, it’s strange.” Iron continued, looking at the ground, scowling.
Sky only nodded, having heard about the fishing problem at the pond from other Pegasi, which bothered him. Where in the world are the fish? We’ve always had a good amount of fish from fishing… The thought would drive him mad before long, so he pushed it from his mind.
Ahead, the forest opened and they could see the ocean, and along the beach was a small village, many wooden houses sat in the sand, some up on the grass with small gardens next to them. Pegasi were flying about, some running and training. There was a ring near the middle of the village, and Pegasi were sparring there.
Sky smiled, the feeling of warmth from the sun welcoming. It truly is welcoming to have the Sun bearing down on you… He thought to himself, closing his eyes, letting the feeling brighten his mood.
“Sky, we need to keep going, the Jarl is gathering up Pegasi.” Iron’s voice killed the joy, reminding Sky of what had to happen, death would come soon, and he couldn’t wait.
Trotting along, Iron and Sky were were being smiled at, some Pegasi waving at them, and they’d wave back.
Soon enough, they were at the gathering place, where their Jarl stood, a rather tall and lanky pegasus, whose hair and coat were grey, “Ahem, many of you are aware, we are raiding again! So I need able bodied Pegasi to lead this attack. Blue Sky, you will lead the attack.” He’d Point over a crowd of Pegasi, at Sky.
Something is wrong here… He never points us out, he says a name and fucks off… Looking around,Sky couldn’t see anything strange, but looking back at the Jarl, Sky noticed he looked very nervous.
Iron stepped forward, “Sir-” then things went very quickly downward.
Iron was grabbed up in a magical aura, it was of golden hue, and Sky watched to his great horror, as Iron was contorted inward, and then ripped apart outward, sending blood and guts across Pegasi and the ground.
The screaming began, and chaos ensued, warriors taking to the sky, but startling enough, pegasi in the crowds began killing each other.
“For Celestia!” He heard someone scream, and turned intime to see a Pegasus charging at him. Sky ignored his colors, only seeing a sun emblem burned into the side of their neck, and shot forward, flying under the sword the was swung at him, and bringing his hooves up and into the enemy’s jaw, feeling it give under the force and a bone jut out of the pony’s cheek.
Hopping away, Sky watched the pony fall to the ground, blood pouring from his mouth. Grinning, Sky turned, watching the combat, wing blades, axes, and swords, all clanging against eachother, Pegasi trying to murder each other, it was a wondrous sight, but a thought hit Sky.
The Pond… The Foals! He took of, flying with great speed to the woods, and flying into the entrance, gliding just inches off the ground as he flew. He could hear the screams ahead, and felt rage building in him
He burst into the area where the pond was, looking around frantically, looking at the Mares who stood in front of foals, teeth bared as they snarled at the intruders, Pegasi with Celestia’s brand, grinning at them.
“I want the pink one, I bet she’s a major whore.” one of the enemies spoke, making Sky growl.
Checking his wings, Sky realized he was still wearing his Wing Blades, and grinning wildly, taking flight and shooting towards the intruders.
One of them turned, hearing the flaps of Sky’s wings, “Hey, you made i-” He didn’t get to finish, the wing blade cleaving through the pony’s neck, his head sent spinning into the air, before falling onto the ground, rolling.
The other turned, startled, but should have focused on the mares, who fell onto the soldiers, attacking the enemy, some of the biting and tearing away the intruder's flesh.
Just as Sky thought it might be safe here, he could feel the presence, it was overbearing, and the air crackled and popped.
Sky looked to the mares and foals, “Find another village, someplace safe.” He’d demand, the mares nodding, preparing to take flight, one of them trotting up to him, nuzzling him lightly, “Thank you Sky, for protecting us, come back safely.” she’d say, before turning, and taking flight with the rest of them.
“It was nice of you to wait for the foals to get out of the firing line… Celestia.” Sky muttered, turning around, watching as the air shimmered, and Celestia appeared, the look on her face one of hurt and anger, “Blue Sky, Raider of the Southern Islands. Kidnapper of children and killer of many.” She’d say, shaking.
Blue Sky only looked at her, completely indifferent to her words, “Celestia, if you’re here to kill me, do it, I know I can’t win this fight, and I’m not gonna die tired, heaven awaits me.” He’d say, sitting down, staring at her.
Celestia reached out with her magic, enveloping him slowly, “I’m sorry Sky, but I have different plans.” She’d say, sending a powerful blast of magic at him, earning a pained scream as Sky was frozen to his spot.
He started losing feeling in his lower half and looking down terrified him, he was turning to stone. Looking back at Celestia, he screamed, “This isn’t fair! You’re a whore for this!” He’d scream, trying to move, “Let me fly to heaven!”
Celestia poured more magic in, responded, “Life is never fair! You should be well aware of this fact Sky!” She screamed, watching as the pain was displayed clearly on Sky’s face.
Before he was fully caste, he uttered one more phrase.
“Pray… That I die here, Celestia.”
Celestia watched, as he was completely turned to stone, his dead, cold eyes glaring at her.
Looking around, Celestia felt wrong, disturbed, and levitated the statue over to her, and took flight, rallying her troops and leaving, wishing it hadn’t come to this.
