Fallout: Equestria - The Herd
The Herd
Load Full StoryAuthor's Note
Hi! This is an idea that has been floating in my head for a while now. It started out as a shipfic between Velvet and Littlepip but I decided against it. As metioned in the description, this story is based on the idea that ponies naturally form herds instead of couple and live a polyamoric love life (in most cases). I hope you enjoy the story and tell me where i made a mistake and how to improve. Enjoy!
The Herd
To say that Littlepip was nervous was putting it mildly. She was scared and rightfully so, she was about to tell the three most important ponies in her life just how important they were. That and how she wanted their lives together to proceed. They had just returned to Tenpony Tower after a long journey this morning and everypony needed to rest. Velvet and Calamity almost immediately went to get some sleep but not before she told them to be at Homage’s at eight o’clock in the evening. They simply nodded and went off on their own. She also had to inform Homage that there was a meeting at her place. Homage wanted to know what exactly was going on but Littlepip only told her that it was important and that she would have to wait a couple of hours.
Those couple of hours were slow to pass but pass they did and her friends would appear any moment. As it was her home, Homage was already there and she was busy getting some drinks ready. Soon enough the door opened with Calamity and Velvet coming through them.
“We’re here Pip, now what’s this all about?” Asked Calamity.
Littlepip took a deep breath before pointing to the seats set up around the table. “Please sit down would you,” she said. Calamity and Velvet nodded but seeing the worry on their friends face made in turn them worried about her.
Homage heard them come in and joined them shortly after with some drinks. After everypony had sat down Littlepip began to speak.
“I have asked you all to come here today because I have something to confess to you and something to ask,” she paused to look at her friends and make sure everypony was okay and listening.
“We have been through a lot together,” she continued, “we have had great victories and great losses. We have gained and lost friends and gotten over it together,” that last sentence struck a cord with everypony in the room and sad frowns could be seen. “You probably remember the day when we first arrived here. You helped me with my problems, albeit forcibly, but we got past that although it hurt me deeply.”
Again, guilt was seen on their faces, on Velvet’s particularly, but they disappeared when she gave them a warm smile. “I also met my precious light in the dark who made me happier than I’ve ever been,” she looked at Homage and smiled again. Homage returned the smile and gave her an affectionate hug and a quick kiss.
“She however is not the only pony I care for that much. With everything we three have been through and with what I have with Homage I can’t help but to feel something more than friendship with you two as well,” she looked directly in their eyes and saw the shock in them, in Calamity’s more than in Velvet’s like she was expecting, before she found a hole in the floor particularly interesting, “I want us to be more than a band of wanderers. I want us to be a herd.”
Homage’s, Calamity’s and Velvet’s eyes went so wide that one would think they would pop out. It took them a while to process Littlepip’s confession and the first to recover was Homage. She raised Littlepip’s chin with her hoof and looked her directly in the eyes. “I don’t know how this will turn out, but you know I wiuld do anything for you,” she said.
Velvet was the next one to speak. “I don’t know Pip, I think I speak for Calamity as well when I say that I haven’t felt those feelings towards you, but when I think of what you just said about what we’ve been through I can’t deny that some feelings although small do exist. I am willing to try if Calamity agrees.”
All the attention was on the pegasus now. He debated his answer for a long time before he finally made the decision. “Ah’m don’t know how too feel about all this, but being in a herd with you can’t be bad can it? We can always go back if want to?”
Homage answered his question before Littlepip could think of an appropriate answer. “This is going to be a rocky boat if we choose to go through with it. We will have to adjust to make it stay afloat.”
Calamity nodded, giving his agreement to Littlepip who cracked a wide small. “Thank you for giving us a chance guys! I promise I will do everything to make this work,” she said in relief and proceeded to hug her new herdmates with tears of great joy in her eyes. The four ponies remained in that position for some time before they parted.
Littlepip truly meant what she said that day, She made sure that everypony in the herd had their say. That was especially important when it came to more affectionate matters. Sex hadn’t happened yet, and kisses were still exchanged between the pre-herd couples although herself, Velvet and Homage had gotten pretty close to it last night.
Velvet wanted to know what exactly they found attractive about her so she told her the whole story. How she felt when they first met, what she appreciated about her and most importantly why she considered her feelings as love and not some silly fillyhood crush. Homage gave some compliments too as well as made some less than appropriate comments about her appearance. What followed was a lot of blushing from all parties involved. Velvet then attempted to return the compliments and it was going fairly well and the three of them were cuddling when Calamity suddenly appeared and spoiled the moment.
Apparently he wanted to apologise for his cold behaviour the last few days. Suddenly becoming a part of a herd was shocking enough and when your friends were a part of it you definitely did not want to mess up and lose them. They proceeded to comfort him and say that whatever happened they would remain friends.
Everything seemed to go better after that, they were more comfortable with each other and if they continued like this they would be a happy herd in a couple of months. It would sure take a lot of work though but it would be worth it.
