Chapter 5: The Fall of Tirek

So Scorpan followed Lord Tirek out of the castle and then they journeyed to the magical land of Equestria while Grogar had other things to do in his old hideout. Tirek ordered his brother to call him "master" instead of "brother" for Scorpan now works for him as his loyal servant. Up in the mountains, Tirek and Scorpan looked at the pony village from down below. It was then that Tirek ordered Scorpan to go explore the pony village until he could bring back a few ponies for him to steal their magic.

"Now that we're in Equestria, we can steal all of its magic and rule over those weak equines!" said Tirek.

"Yes, I agree with you, brother--I mean, master. Soon, these ponies will be under our control." Scorpan replied.

"Go into the village and check it out!" Tirek ordered. "And remember to bring a few ponies to me." he said.

"Yes, master." Scorpan replied before flying down from the mountain.

Scorpan flew down to the pony village where he began to investigate. The land was beautiful and it was like nothing he had ever seen before. The grass was green, the sky was blue, the trees were full of apples, the river was clear and the ponies were colorful. Scorpan continued to look around while admiring the peaceful village until he saw an old unicorn wizard nearby.

"This is a very beautiful place." said Scorpan.

"Who are you?" the old unicorn wizard asked.

"My name is Scorpan." Scorpan introduced.

"Interesting. What kind of creature are you?" the unicorn wizard asked.

"None of your business, pony! I am here to check things out. Nothing more, nothing less." Scorpan replied.

"Hmm, you are very interesting." said the old unicorn wizard.

"You know nothing about me, pony!" Scorpan said, trying to sound as mean as his brother.

"No need to be so harsh, I was just curious." the unicorn replied. "I can see the good in you, but also I can see the conflict within you."

"Yes." Scorpan sighed. "My brother wants to take over Equestria and all of its magic." he confessed.

"What?! Tell me about this brother of yours. Did he sent you here?" the unicorn wizard asked.

"Yes. His name is Tirek and he's not the kind of brother I use to know. He wants me to bring him ponies so that he can steal their magic."

"I see. Do not worry, Scorpan, I know that you won't harm anypony. Also, my name is Starswirl the Bearded. It's nice to meet you."

"It was nice to meet you, too." Scorpan replied.

"Come, let me introduce you to some friends of mine. You're welcome to have a feast with us." said Starswirl the Bearded.

"Thanks, Starswirl. I sure am hungry after all the traveling." Scorpan replied.

Later that day, Scorpan had spent a wonderful time befriending Starswirl the Bearded and the ponies of Equestria. He enjoyed a good feast and he shared his medallion with Starswirl the Bearded as the ponies crowned him with flowers. Starswirl then teaches Scorpan about the importance of friendship and how the magic is important to Equestria. Soon, Scorpan decided that he should go tell his brother to abandon his evil plan and not take over Equestria. Back in the caves up in the mountain, Tirek walked around in circles waiting for his brother to return.

"What is taking him so long?" said Tirek. "It's almost time, brother. Soon, all of Equestria will be ours."

"Brother! I need to speak to you about something." Scorpan said as he entered the cave.

"What do you want now?" Tirek asked. "Didn't I ask you to bring back a few ponies?"

"No. I've been thinking about this--" Scorpan tried to say before Tirek interrupted.

"We've come too far now, there's nothing for us back in our original home." said Tirek.

"I know, brother, but this isn't right. It's all wrong!" Scorpan replied.

"What?!" said Tirek.

"We can't take over Equestria and steal all the magic from it! We need to abandon this, Tirek." Scorpan said.

"Don't let me down, Scorpan! Not when we were so close to victory!" Tirek yelled at his brother.

"I won't let you drain all the magic from those ponies." said Scorpan. "I've seen them and they're not what you think they are!"

"You made friends with these weak fillies?! You're weak-minded, brother. Weak!" Tirek growled furiously.

"I am not weak, Tirek!" Scorpan yelled as tears began to fall from his eyes.

"If you will not help me, Scorpan, then I'll have to do this myself!" Tirek replied.

"I must warn the princesses!" Scorpan thought.

As Tirek makes his way to attack the pony village, Scorpan flies over to the Castle of the Two Sisters where he meets Starswirl the Bearded. Scorpan tells Starswirl that Tirek is on his way to take over Equestria and that he must warn the princesses immediately. The unicorn wizard leads Scorpan to the throne room where they meet Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.

"Starswirl, who is that creature?" Celestia asked.

"Your highness, this is my new friend, Scorpan." Starswirl introduced. "But we don't have much time. Equestria is in danger!"

"Danger?" Luna asked.

"We came to warn you! My brother, Tirek, is coming to take over Equestria and he's going to steal all the magic from every pegasus, unicorn and earth pony until he is strong enough to steal alicorn magic. Please, you must stop him!" said Scorpan.

"Captain Blueshield! Summon the guards! Protect the pony village immediately!" Celestia ordered.

"Yes, your highness!" Captain Blueshield replied.

"Thank you. Return to where thou came from. Seek shelter and be careful." Luna said to Scorpan.

"One more thing before I go, your majesties. Please, spare my brother's life." Scorpan said to the alicorn princesses.

"Thou has thy word." Luna replied.

Scorpan said goodbye to Starswirl the Bearded and the alicorn princesses before he went outside the castle. Meanwhile, Captain Blueshield and the guards tried to fight against Tirek, but they were no match for him. As the powerful centaur begins to wreak havoc across the pony village, he has the ponies surrounded when Scorpan watched in horror. Then, the gargoyle had no other choice but to confront his older brother.

"Brother, stop!" Scorpan shouted.

"Scorpan?! What are you doing here?" said Tirek.

"Brother, stop this madness! Don't make me do this. For the sake of our family, don't make me fight you!" Scorpan cried.

"Do you honestly think that you can stand against me?! I am more powerful than you think." said Tirek.

"Tirek, I will not let you harm the ponies of Equestria, for they are my friends!! And if you wanna get to them...then you'll have to go through me first!" said Scorpan.

"How dare you betray me, Scorpan!" Tirek yelled. "If you would side against me for the sake of these ponies."

"Then you leave me no choice, brother." Scorpan replied.

"You are no brother of mine!" Tirek shouted.

The battle between two brothers had just begun as Scorpan risked his life to save the ponies of Equestria from Tirek. The fight between the two brothers was brutal. Tirek would try to shoot magic against his brother, but Scorpan would dodge them at every turn. The ponies ran for their lives as Tirek and Scorpan fight against each other. They battled against each other until Tirek finally beats Scorpan to the ground.

"Why, Tirek? Why are you doing this?" said Scorpan, unable to get up.

"So that I can gain unlimited power, Scorpan!" Tirek replied. "While you were with mommy and daddy, I've spent all my years being lost and alone on that desert until I was finally able to develop my magic skills! Once I am rid of you, I will have Equestria all to myself. And don't you worry, brother dearest, I'll take good care of those pony friends of yours."

"NOOOOOOOO!!!" Scorpan shouted.

Scorpan leaps into the air and punches Tirek in the chin. The battle continues until Tirek grabs Scorpan by the throat. The gargoyle struggles to break himself free from his brother's grip, but he wasn't strong enough to move the centaur's hand from his neck. Tirek looks at Scorpan with a malevolent grin on his face before he starts squeezing his hand, choking the gargoyle. Scorpan gasped for air as Tirek laughed maniacally before a bright yellow beam shot the centaur right in the shoulder, causing Tirek to let go of his brother. He held onto his burnt shoulder before he looked up into the sky and saw Princess Celestia and Princess Luna coming to the rescue.

"The princesses!" Tirek growled.

"Your reign of terror ends now, Tirek!" yelled Celestia.

Just as Tirek was about to use his magic to aim and shoot the two sisters out of the sky, Celestia and Luna used their alicorn magic to defeat the evil centaur once and for all. The princesses shot their magic right into the earth like powerful lightning, then it caused an earthquake until a large crack started to open wide like a piece of paper being torn apart. Then, the crack in the earth began to suck everything into the pit below and then, chains rose from the pit and attached themselves right into Tirek's silver bands. Then, the chains dragged Tirek right into the pit. The centaur immediately grabbed onto the edge of the cliff before he pleaded for his brother to help him.

"Help me, Scorpan! Please, Help me!!!" Tirek cried.

"Why should I?!" Scorpan asked with an angry look on his face.

"Scorpan! I'm you're brother." said Tirek. "Help me up, please! I'm slipping!"

"Hang on, Tirek! I'm coming." said Scorpan as he reached out for his brother.

"Hurry! I'm losing my grip!" Tirek yelled.

"Quick! Take my hand." said Scorpan.

Tirek reached out for Scorpan's hand and just as they were about to reach each other's fingers, Luna swooped down from the sky to warn Scorpan not to help his brother.

"Scorpan, don't! It's a trick!" Luna warned.

"But he's my brother!" said Scorpan. "He needs my help!"

"Let it go, Scorpan." Celestia said. "Tirek has to pay for his crimes against Equestria."

Scorpan hesitated for a minute. Tirek looked at his brother with fear in his eyes as he held onto the edge for his life. As the crack in the earth continued to suck in, Scorpan made a quick decision and left his brother behind. Tirek lost his grip before falling down into the abyss.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Tirek shouted as he fell.

"I'm sorry, Tirek. I'm so sorry." Scorpan thought as tears fell from his eyes.

Princess Celestia and Luna thanked Scorpan for risking his life to save the ponies of Equestria from his power-hungry brother before telling him that Tirek has been imprisoned into Tartarus. Not only did Tirek lost his powers when the chains dragged him down, but he was also drained of his youth. Starswirl the Bearded helped the ponies repair the damage Tirek had brought to the village before Scorpan asked the two Alicorn sisters if he can see his brother one last time before returning to his homeland. Later that day, Captain Blueshield led Scorpan to the gates of Tartarus where the three-headed dog, Cerberus, is there to make sure that no prisoner escapes. Before he could see his brother one last time, Captain Blueshield gives Scorpan a warning.

"Remember, I can only let you in for a couple of minutes. Tartarus is a very dangerous place."

"Alright. Thank you, Captain Blueshield." said Scorpan.

Scorpan made his way into Tartarus where he found his brother trapped inside a cage. Tirek had been drained of his own youth and magic and when he saw his younger brother, he glared at him.

"I'm guessing you are not here to apologize." said Tirek. "It was so noble of you to double-cross your own flesh and blood like that. You knew I never would've done this to you!"

"Tirek, what was I supposed to do?! I couldn't support you on this! Ponies are better than you think! They are not just beasts of burden! The magic is important to them!" said Scorpan.

"Look at me...please, Scorpan. Look at me." said Tirek. "Look at what these marvelous ponies of yours have done to me!!! I'm a shadow of myself! Ponies are a plague and they need to disappear! We had the power to do it! And now...you're not even worth my time."

"Tirek, listen." Scorpan said sadly. "Do you think this is easy for me? Sending my one and only brother to prison for all eternity?! It's not! I tried to change your mind...but I guess I've failed."

Before he could leave Tartarus, Scorpan gave his own medallion to his brother so that it would remind him that no matter what, he still cares about him. He was very sad that after reuniting with Tirek, he now has to say farewell to his former sibling. If there's one thing that hurts the most, it's saying goodbye to your last family member for one last time.

"I want you to have this. This is my medallion. I give it to you because...I hope it reminds you that no matter what happens, you're still my brother and I still care about you." Scorpan said as he handed over his medallion to Tirek.

After giving away his medallion, tears ran down from Scorpan's eyes before the gargoyle flew away in departure. Tirek looked as his brother went into the light before he was out of sight. Tirek put on the medallion and looked at his own reflection on it before he fell in despair. As time went by, Tirek was still trapped inside his own cage until he looked back at his own childhood where he was at a very young age when Scorpan was born. Tirek wanted to be the center of love and attention for his parents, but when they spent more time with his younger brother, he felt unloved and overshadowed by his family. The only company that Tirek had was his own shadow and the shadow of Grogar.
