Sweet-Song Ballad
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was the first day of summer and Meadow was back at the orphanage just putting the last of her stuff up. She smiled as Cream Cake jumped on her back. He yipped happily; Meadow giggled and lit her horn and Cream Cake's throat glowed a bright purple.
"Thank goodness your back! I hated you being gone for so long. I missed you! Plus.....I really don't like having my bedding changed by other ponies." Cream Cake said muttering the last part, Meadow giggled and ran her hoof through his fur.
"Don't worry I'm only going to be gone for one more hour. Can you hold out until then?" She said and Cream Cake nodded, his face reddening slightly. She smiled before she teleported out of the orphanage and walked to the pet store. Meadow smiled as she looked up at the clear sky.
All of her friend's we're busy unpacking and hanging with their parents. Since it was summer they all had plenty of time to sit back and relax. Suddenly she ran into a leg; Meadow snapped out of her thoughts and looked up. She looked up but only saw a figure who looked to be wearing a sapphire signature clock made by Sapphire Shores. Nopony gave the figure any mind probably because she was wearing fashionable clothing.
The figure turned around but all Meadow could see was a horn. She couldn't see the figures face but she could see its shinning magenta eye's.
"Who are you?" Meadow asked and the figure she saw the figure's eye's had dilated back in fear, it shook before running away. Meadow gasped she wanted to chase after the figure but that would direct attention. Meanwhile the figure was crying as it ran as fast as its hooves could take it. It ran until nopony was around finally it ran into a dark alleyway.
The figure took in deep breaths as it sat on its flank finally a magenta light surrounded its clock and it took it off. It's hooves began clicking on the stoned alleyway in a ballad jazzy tempo. Suddenly a plum purple light flashed behind it and it turned around. It saw Meadow as she had her horn shinning as bright as possible.
"Are you okay? I didn't mean to...." Meadow said trailing off as she stated at the figure in awe. It was a mare; her coat was the two colors periwinkle and majestic purple as the edges blended together. Her coat seemed to shine in the darkness. Her bottom left front hoof and her right back hoof we're covered in dark violet.
With two small spatters of it going up the leg. Her eye's, flank, nose, and the tip of her horn had the same color as well. Her body was slender but wasn't ridiculously skinny like some mares. And her mane had a little cow lick on the top, as both her mane and tail was coloured gold and silver lines in it that shined and sparkled. Finally her cutiemark was a pony dancing wearing a ballerina uniform. She was the most beautiful mare Meadow had ever seen.
"Mrs....you look-" Meadow said before she cut herself off as she saw the mare was crying,
"Please don't hurt me." She whispered. Meadow's eye's we're wide in shock this mare was begging and crying for a filly not to hurt her.
"Mrs! I'm not going to hurt you. You need to calm down." Meadow tried to reassure the mare as she walked towards her.
"You chased after me." The mare said and Meadow resisted the urge to roll her eye's,
"That's because you ran away from me. I was worried about you, granted I don't know you, but worried still." She said. The mare continued cry, Meadow then took a few closer until she was able to pet her mane. The mare jumped back slightly,
"What's your name?" Meadow asked. The mare shook violently as if she expected to get his by a meteorite.
"I-I-I'm.......Sw-Sweet So-Song. Sweet Song Ballad." Sweet Song said shakily,
"That's a nice name. My name is Angelic Meadow do you want to get some cookies or something?" Meadow asked. Sweet Song looked up at her,
"Maybe another time." She said before she put the cloak back on and ran from the alley. Meadow was half-tempted to see if Sweet Song was okay but she remembered Cream Cake needed more bedding,
"Oh crap." She muttered before teleporting to the pet shop.
Meadow ran into her room to see Cream Cake was on her bed. His face was red,
"Where we're you!? Poppy came over and she smelled my cage! Do you know how awkward that was for me?" He asked clearly a bit ticked,
"Sorry! I got side-tracked." Meadow said. Cream Cake took a deep breath and calmed slightly,
"Just try not to put me in that position again." He said his ears lowering at the memory. Meadow nodded and went to cleaning her pet's cage,
Later that night Meadow had just jumped into bed as Cream Cake was sleeping soundly in his cage. She pulled the covers over herself as she used her magic to turn off the lights. Meadow wasn't sure why but she couldn't stop worrying about that mare. Maybe it was because she had ran away, maybe it was because Timidthy had rubbed off on her. Maybe it was because of her personality and how she presented herself. But she was sure of one thing she would help Sweet Song.
Meanwhile the mare in question was on the outskirts of Canterlot. Her home was a small log cabin; it was painted a citrus orange while the roof was painted a cream color. The window's we're covered with black blankets. While the door was painted brick red; she sighed as she unlocked the door. And walked inside quickly shutting the door behind her she then locked a pad lock and slide against the door. Sweet Song sighed, she hated having to even come outside.
