Shifting light
Interlude 1: Swift's Reality
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"You see only innocence, and love. What you fail to see, is the shadows that await underneath it all." - Nekros
Why all of this? What does beating Celestia, and Luna have to do with anything? Its pointless, I think...ahh! I hate this! Every time something normal seems to be going right, its always thrown out of the window because of this...God. I can't really blame Chris, since he's been tied into this mess, but...he agreed.
"I give up..." I muttered, staring down at my reflection, my eyes were teal again, my hair stood up in a wild mess as I narrowed my eyes, swiping the image away, turning the water to ripples as my hair finally sat back down normally again. "Stupid Sayian Blood...."
"You have a serious mental problem, like, I might need to add a 'Self Harm/Suicide' tag to this story, but fuck it, its beneath me." At the voice, I nearly fell into the lake, before I stared up at that guy from- "You say my name, or else."
"Loki. Why are you here?" I really wasn't in the mood, haven't been for nearly two days, heck, I haven't even slept for two days. But like when I first met him, he went on a tangent
"I'm here, i'm there, basically everywhere when you think about it." He mused, before tapping his cane on the dirt twice, before a chair appeared from nowhere. "But enough about my problems, which is alot, how's my newest pawn doing?"
Are you kidding me? "Do you ever stop annoying people?" That made him grin. "Don't answer that. But seriously, why all of this? Just for one guy. when you clearly have the power to do so, so why?"
"Cause the Multiverse is a bitch, and i'm its pawn." He stated matter-of-factly, before he continued. "Gods created mortals, Gods were created by The Prime God, and Prime was created by Creation. A simple, yet overwhelming conclusion, no matter how you look at it."
"You mean something created us all? Not a God?" That made him click his tongue, before he pointed towards the night sky in amusement. So I looked up, staring at the clear, night sky above us, then he clicked his fingers
In a mere second of white, I gazed up at the massive collection of stars, but among massive constellations of universes, which were collected in a mass of other universes bigger than it. Reds, oranges, yellow, everything was igniting the whole aurora of colour, and impossibility. It was honestly the most beautiful thing ive ever witnessed.
"Like I said, Multiverse is a bitch, and I can control a fragment of it, but that's limited to very strained rules." He muttered, then he pointed to one universe, as he sighed in actual despair. "Fucking idiots made me soft, but besides my bad luck of immortality, you finally snapped out of your depression, or are we still doing this?"
"Well...I think I get what you're trying to say?" I did?
"You do?" Even he was skeptical, but his eyes never left the crimson universe
"I was given a life better than the one I have, even if you don't express it, you wanted this to happen out of curiosity, and kindness, even if that's harder to explain." I responded. "You want to do better, I don't know why that involves someone as insignificant as me, but thank you."
"Rather you than Ruin, am I right?" What? "But I've grown bored of this chat, so I'm off to go mess with Serafin....have fun dealing with....your mortal problems or something...." He then made everything in reality turn back to normal in an instant, before turning to leave
"Whiny. That's what you are." He added, as I stared at him with surprise, and irritation that began to grow. "But....insignificant is not one of them, trust me, I learned that a long time ago, and I still regret it, so seeya."
*POP*
"And...he's gone." I blinked, I guess I don't have a choice in this matter anymore, whether or not I agree with my new way of life, I can't just throw it away, not when I can actually 'do' something to help others now. A maid isn't really meant for much, I don't know how I expected my life to go well in that state, but now. Now I can do something better
Do better....if only I realized that long ago.
"What a strange guy..." I was pondering why he was so...odd, he wasn't a noble, I think, but he certainly wasn't a monster. But there's something about him I can't quite put my finger on. So I just opened the window in my room, and stared out at the sky ahead of me. One thing I did enjoy, was not being stuck in a damp, dungeon, just the thought of it made me...no, don't think about it
"But you still will, since all you do is whine." I was quickly forced to throw myself back towards the edge of my bed, as the black figure hung from the edge of the window, using its tail to pin itself upside-down. But he laughed. "Woah, easy with the trigger, Swifty!"
"R-Ruin...you're back?" I was puzzled, why now? He said he was going to be gone for a long time, but he quickly answered that, as he hopped into the room
"Well don't sound so disappointed, I was honestly expecting my little....agreements to go alot slower, but then again, Loki has been a bothersome tick." He rambled, still didn't know who Loki was, but then he pointed to me with an evil grin, his teeth sharp, and crooked. "But here I am, buddy."
"Ruin, what did you do?" I was worried, even terrified, he promised he wouldn't harm anyone that wasn't a threat. But then he laughed even more, twirling his finger around a purple flame
"Well...things got, messy." I froze at his words, my body wouldn't even more at the revelation, then his tail snapped towards my neck, as my eyes widened slightly, but his narrowed. "You're not reconsidering our plans, right?"
"N-No, how could I? After all, you d-did save me...." I couldn't do anything, even if I wanted to, he had me on a noose, so I had to let him use me as his scape-goat. "Just please, did you kill innocent people?"
"Hmm...." He removed his tail from my neck, the jagged end moving away from my throat, as he thought about it as if it was actually difficult to remember, then he shrugged. "Can you tell the difference between a child's scream, and a man's scream? Cause I freakin can't! I swear, throw them all in a soup, and you can never tell them apart."
I-I was going to be sick, I knew he was a monster, but this....this was even worse than Discord, than Sombra, he was insane! But I was quickly cut off again, as he grabbed me by my shoulders, looking directly at me with green eyes, as my pink eyes turned to pin-pricks.
"Remember our plan, and I swear, if you dare to back out, nothing will save you from me." Then he grinned as wide as a crescent moon. "You owe me!"
"R-right...i'm sorry...." I whispered, then he patted me on the head, before turning towards the window
"Good, Swifty. Now then, I heard you have a new visitor, a please, do keep an eye on him for me, I hate to find out that it was anyone I rather forget was trying to kill me." What did Chris have to do with- "Chris huh? Ha! Like Christ without the 'T', yep, im'ma crucify him later!"
And in a flash of green, he was gone, leaving me to not only worry about tonight, but about who I may have just endangered, i'm such an idiot!
Present Day
"Hey Swift! We got chocolate-chip cookies, they smell like raisins, but I swear they're chocolate-chips!" At Chris' voice, I snapped out of mu daydream to see him standing beside the tree, before he pointed at the water. "Why the hell do you always come out here! I fucking drown in water you know! Blacklight, Devil Fruit, remember?"
"Oh! Ok, i'm coming!" I called over, before I turned to follow after him, but I swear I saw something from the corner of my eye, its green glare staring at me with a wide, crooked grin
To Be Continued...
Author's Note
Well shit. Chris is being played for a fool, if he wasn't already one. But to clarify, Loki is going to be around a lot more often.
Enjoy, since Lucaridis still uses me to write, as he yells in my ear.
Sincerely, Slendy
