Chapters We enter a Royal throne room of the King and Queen of Equestria. A lone human in golden shackles was directed by a pair of unicorn guards towards the middle of the room and was pushed to the ground. Looks of horror were plastered on the young princesses’’ faces as the king and queen stared on with blank expressions.
“Prisoner, by order of the King and Queen of Equestria, have ordered for you to be banished to the center of the world for all eternity. Does the convicted have anything to say?”
“They all deserved it, you folks never treated me right and only saw a monster. Now I have evolved beyond friendship and compassion!”
The convicted was a human of about 5½‘, with tattered red and black clothing, and blood splattered all over his face. There was nothing sane about him as his face broke into a wicked grin and flipped off the ponies.
“Then we have no choice, your fate is sealed, you will spend all eternity in the deepest pits of the Earth, good-bye abomination.” The guard spoke in a monotone as the rulers charged the Elements of Harmony and blasted me. The last thing I heard were cries of the princesses as a lone tear escaped me. Now I am shackled to the core, while the kingdom flourishes above, and I rot below.
My name is Shadow, the Abomination. I’m more or less a human that somehow ended up here n Equestria and had nowhere to go. When I woke up, I was in a small forest, and wandered into a city full of colorful pony- like creatures that were human in appearance, but kept their pony traits like tails, horns, or wings. Being a giant didn’t help ease the public and being a partial carnivore only made things worse for them. I was struck as an outcast and forced to live in rags and beg. It was when the Equestrian Games occurred two weeks later and I was cheering on teams or playing some of the event with what little bits I had, until I was found by the guards. I tried to be nice, only to chained and beaten as I was brought to the Alicorn rulers, King Solaris, Raiser of the Sun, and Queen Cosmos, Raiser of the Moon.
The Royal Family pitied me and took me in, hoping the public would calm down, but even though they treated me right, I still felt the hate they all had for me being different. I was made a royal member of the family, but only suffered the torture of the maids and guards messing with me just so they could see the beast within me. I couldn’t fly or possessed super strength, but I had potential for magic. I would rather not repeat what caused me to realize the potential.
The Princesses, were very kind to me, although they were just fillies, I think their names were Celestia and Luna, I can’t really remember, being down here so long will do that to a guy. They were my only friends; they didn’t fear me and warmed up to me as soon as I met them. They always loved riding on my back before they could fly properly and my little spells that could make illusions of the galaxy or a display of the different animals on Earth. I was like their big brother, despite the obvious reasons and the King and Queen appreciated my help of watching them while they were busy.
Over the past few years, I became accustomed to life here, and was taught by the King and Queen themselves, even in magic, but the only magic that would work for me were basic spells like levitation or offensive and defensive spells. The only spells that would work was when I came upon a few books on pyro spells and created new ones, which even my pal Starswirl, couldn’t even fathom. My spells mostly came from ideas from Dark Souls, a game with awesome types of spells like Chaos Fire Storm, Fire orb, and Fire Whip. Then came the most dangerous spells of dark magic. After trying to cast a shadow ball I almost took a wing of the library out and almost broke my left arm.
My parents were worried about the darkness that might be in my heart, but my cheerful outlook on life disregarded their suspicions. The staff however, and I still don’t know how, spread rumors of being more powerful than the rulers and was planning to usurp the throne. Those ponies could only drive me so far as the darkness became unstable and I had to release it. I’m not sure if it was even me that made the decision of hurting those that made life hell for over a year and wouldn’t even stop.
At first it was out of fear of what would happen to my family, but then it became a game of cat and mouse, with me being the cat. My usual calm and collected personality became hostile, creepy, and distant. The King and Queen could see I was depressed and did everything they could do to make me happy. This is where the real games began.
I still wore the tattered clothes as a constant reminder for my crime, but they should have seen the darkness in my heart. While others laughed and insulted me, I was planning my revenge. Every pony that took the insults too far and began to beat me up were met with a cruel fate of being beaten worse than they dealt to me or turning up missing and the only clues were blood trails and ripped hooves, wings, and even horns. Even if the body was found, you were lucky if you could hold in your lunch. As more and more ponies disappeared, I was beginning to see that these ponies only saw me as a monster and were given no reason why. Now they had one.
I was caught after some pony made another insult to me while having a day out with my ‘family’. He was a pompous pony with a green coat and orange mane, with two doughnuts as cutie marks. He made crude remarks as me being a ‘pet’. I decided that he will die in his sleep. After the shop closed, I went back to find the stallion emptying the garbage and went back into the store. I crept through the back door and went up the stairs. The creak of each step as my blood boiled with my adrenaline. I jumped into the room and surprised the stallion, as I threw a rock at him and knocked him out. I grabbed my knife and cut off his horn. I was about to stab him when a scream shattered my concentration and turned to see a pink mare in a whitish-pink mane, with cupcakes as a cutie mark, see the blood drip from my knife and hands. I sighed as I made my way towards her in order to silence her, but she blasted me with a burst spell. I was blasted out the window into the street as guards rushed in to find a bloody human with a knife and horn in opposite hands.
I was brought into the dungeon as I lay motionless with only a blank expression. I don’t remember much, as my family showed up in tears as they found the killer. Their own son was the monster that they fought so hard for others to see I wasn’t bad. I was pounded with questions to find out the reason, but I only responded with ‘they should have listened better,’ and shattered their hearts that I was too far gone to even care.
“They should have learned to see the mistakes and helped me.” I mumbled as I played the final looks on my family’s face as they had no choice but to banish me for my heinous acts. I only wanted friends or at least a decent pony that would be kind, not because they have to but want to.
I chuckled as my yearning for evil became weaker, until my evil could no longer be felt holding me down. I looked over to see the chains slowly turn to ash as I could finally move again. My guess was that my banishment was to extinguish my darkness while the other ponies move on and I cool my head, so to speak. Being stuck underground had turned my skin a deathly pale, my hair went from a dark brown to completely white, and my eyes became red as my blood. These changes were because of my hate, but I guess it couldn’t be reversed after I finally calmed down and casted away my anger after God knows how many years. The shackles slowly turned to dust as I was freed from molten prison and greeted with a bright white flash as I was launched into the unknown.
Time Skip: 4,000 years
“Come on Twilight slow down!” shouted a small purple dragon with green spikes and underbelly, as he ran with all his might to catch up with a purple unicorn named Twilight Sparkle. They were both running at full speed to find out what the cause of a mysterious flash of light in the middle of the Everfree forest. She had gathered her friends to investigate. A letter was already sent to the princess to explain the situation, but no reply came as of yet. They all stood at the entrance of the forest. The very place they became the best of friends and saved Equestria from eternal night. They were all ready to go, minus one butter-yellow Pegasus who hid behind her pink mane.
“Do we have to go in there, it seems so scary, if you don’t mind me saying.” She said
“Eh if it’s anything dangerous, I’ll give it one-four.” Said a boisterous cyan pony with a rainbow mane.
“Ooh ooh, maybe it’s new pony that needs a friend and a big welcome party, oh he or she will be so surprised I…” said a sugar-induced pink pony that hopped around, until she got a hoof in the mouth by Twilight.
“Whatever it is, we’ll need to be careful.” She said as they entered the forest.
Meanwhile in the Castle of the Two Sisters
I awoke to a dull sound of bats and water drips. I opened my eyes to see I was back in the throne room. I guess no one ever decided to stay here as I could tell by the moss and cracks on the walls, as well as some structural damage. I put my hand to my head to find the gold cuffs were still on me as well as my feet. I tried to pull them off, but they wouldn’t open. My guess was that these were enchanted, so the only way to get them off was with a key or a powerful unicorn or alicorn. I walked he halls of my old home to find the extent of the damage. Curtains and rugs were ripped apart and shredded, with their original coloring slowly faded away as moss was growing on the walls, even on the paintings. A forest had apparently grown here and saw that the forest was like Earth. No ponies in sight and the weather managed itself and animals were fending for themselves.
I chuckled in spite of this dramatic change that the pony folk were probably going nuts to figure out the mysteries of the forest. I traveled the halls until I came to the room I was looking for, my room. I found there was a lock on it, and took a suit of armor and busted through to find my room completely untouched. Despite the dust and age, it looked like it was never desecrated or touched since my banishment. I looked over my bed that used to have red sheets and a blue comforter with a gold trim and quite a few pillows. A few tears fell as I turned my attention to the family portrait, which actually included me. My family might never forgive me, but at least I can start over.
I went to my closet to find my clothes in good quality and some shoes left for me. I entered the bath chamber and turned on the water. By Starwirl’s Beard it actually worked and it was warm too. I didn’t waste time as the water may become cold and scrubbed the blood off of me. There was a single soap bar left in its usual place, as well as a scrub brush. I scrubbed till the stench of 4,000 years was gone and dawned my new attire. A black cloak that had a pattern of the night sky and a lunar moon on the back. I then put on a black t-shirt with The Punisher logo on the front. My pants were red with a single black stripe on my left leg. Last but not least I put on some black slip on shoes, since laces were complicated to most designers back in the day, and even when they tried it didn’t really tie right or the strings were off. Then I found my precious backpack with some of my technology that surprisingly survived and could still charge with the energy crystal I was given. I grabbed some extra outfits, which surprisingly fit in my pack, thank god for its large size.
“Well, time to greet the public.” I said as I took one final look in the mirror, before placing the large hood over my head. If I didn’t know any better, I could almost be like the Hunter from LFD. I walked out the room one last time and blocked off the door so no one else could get in besides me. I exited the grounds and across an old rope bridge and began my journey to find a way out of here.
I exited the castle to see the sun slowly creep over the tree canopy as I too k my first look of light in over 4,000 years, and it burned, and not like when someone turns on the lights suddenly, it burned like having soap in your eyes and no water to wash it out. I guess my eyes needed time to adjust, and grabbed a pair of sunglasses that I had when I first came to this place. They were black with red flames on the sides and a mirror reflective surface that could make anyone intimidating. I placed them on my forehead and pulled my hood over to block out most of the sun.
I came across a bridge, but saw the ropes were on their last legs and so I took a more directed approach and used my great combustion spell to launch myself across the canyon. The only problem was that I caused a lot of noise and then bounded across the tree tops away from the crash site.
Meanwhile
My friends and I were traveling the forest to find out the occurrence for a white light near the Castle of The Two Sister’s and for the 100th time explaining to my friend Pinkie Pie that it may not be a pony and party may not be necessary for an unknown or possibly dangerous creature. Rainbow Dash was still going on about how she was going to take on the threat even though last Nightmare Night she ran and hid scared like everyone else when Princess Luna dressed as Nightmare Moon showed up the first year I lived in Ponyville. That’s when a loud blast came about and saw a giant flame appeared near the canyon. We stopped what we were doing and ran towards the canyon to find a large circle of burnt grass on both sides near the old bridge leading to the castle.
It was hard to tell if the creature was heading to the castle or left, so we spit off into two groups. There was me, RD, Fluttershy, and Spike. Then Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie. My group headed towards the castle, while Applejacks searched the nearby area for any clues where the creature went. We decided to meet back in 30 minutes and we went in opposite directions. We first entered the throne room of the castle and found nothing has changed beside the usual growth, except there was a large circle that outlined near the center.
“Whoa what happened here? A curious purple dragon said.
“I don’t know Spike, but whatever it is, it’s giving off high amounts of magic.” I said as I followed the trail to another room. This room was much different from the size of the bed was too large for an alicorn or a pony.
“Uh Twi you should see this weird painting.” RD said with a hint of fear.
I turned my head only to see a family portrait of the King and Queen of Equestria, two alicorn fillies, and a strange creature that was taller than the king. I have never seen any creature like this before, and I‘ve read every animal field guide of Equestria book there ever was. Suddenly I realized that my friends were out in the woods alone with who knows what.
“We have to find the others quickly!” I shouted as we galloped towards our friends.
Meanwhile in the forest...
“Whatevahs out hare, it sure has strange footprints.” I said as my and group and I came across a couple of tracks near the bridge Rainbow fixed for us when we went to battle Nightmare Moon.
“Applejack, shouldn’t we head back? This place is too scary in my opinion.” said Rarity.
“But we have to surprise the new pony or thingy and welcome it to Equestria!” said a bubbly Pinkie.
“I know, but we have to keep oof!” said Applejack as she bumped into something.
OC POV
I was calmly walking through the forest looking for a way out and suddenly something orange bumped into me. I stared as I saw an orange pony with a yellow mane tide into a ponytail (pony pun) and a Stetson hat. Her cutie mark was of three red apples.
I could only stare back as we both stepped back from each other slowly. I had hoped I wouldn’t have been discovered for a bit longer, but I guess it’s time to run and hide as I dashed away in the opposite direction. I looked back to find them chasing me, so I had no choice but use my transformation spells to scare them away. I jumped into a tree and called my Changeling Mask. To others it was just a simple mask, basic facial structures, painted white, but this mask, forged by powerful magic as well as dark magic, allowed me to become whatever creature I could think of, just like the feared Changelings. This mask helped me turn into things from nightmares and helped me kill some ponies, which is why I wasn’t caught until later, because a 100th kill deserves an audience with the monster behind the mask. I placed the mask over my face and began my metamorphosis into a horror monster known as Scarecrow. It was some demon entity in an original movie that looked more like a withered tree with human-like features. If this doesn’t work, then I don’t want to become anything scarier that could really mess with anyone’s sanity. My hair receded into my skull as my skin darkened into a branch-like structures. My eyes and mouth hollowed out and clothes faded into my skin. Now the games can begin.
Meanwhile...
“What the hay was that thing!” said Rarity
“I don’t know, but whatever it is, it’s going down.” Said a confident Applejack.
They started to run in my direction, only to find herself grabbed by some branches. The looks on their faces as I rose from the ground like roots to a tree and dropped her and stared into my hollow eyes and the orange pony began to pale, a unicorn faint on a mysterious chair that appeared, and a pink earth pony’s mane to ‘deflate’. I slowly formed into myself and began to open my mouth to roar, only to be hit by an attack spell. The blast took part of my shoulder, but slowly began to reform, as I saw three more ponies gather around and had similar reactions except this Rainbow one that looked like she wanted to fight.

I retreated into the ground as my body separated by the vines and retreated.
Twilight’s POV
I was surprised to see such a creature exist in the forest and a sentient one at that. It was like the trees in forest but it had the form of a being and could freely move around. I thought it was going to hurt us but it chose to walk away even after RD hit it with a rock. It backed away as soon as Fluttershy moved closer to it and it seemed almost afraid of ponies.

Timeskip
How many weeks… one… two… or am I overthinking things?
I have wandered this Forest ever since the encounter with the locals. I have found out that there is a large amount of magic in this forest. Luckily, the Timberwolves provided a good source of power, but eventually I had to find them, as they became scared of my power.
I then pulled out this book. It was a journal of all spells I made. Every form the countless tries of my lesser models until it worked. All pieces that failed were immediately destroyed.

I reached the border and saw a large mountain across a town. Over it was a pink shield, and multiple black dots surrounding it. The way they moved… was insect like.
‘Changelings. Those idiots never learn… And those bugs too.’
I then open my book as it glowed and revealed multiple versions of a teleportation spell. One was to link to a specific source of magic and go, teleport over large distances, or go to known locations. I then closed my eyes as I sense the highest power there… The Queen.
‘Thought you could hide huh?’

Knowing she was winning, Queen Chrysalis said:
“You do realize the reception’s been cancelled, don’t you?”
She then turned to her subjects.
“Now go! Feed!”
Every Changeling except her, left the room to have a feast.
(Chuckling) “It’s funny really, Twilight here was suspi…”
She was interrupted when a changeling entered the room flying at top speed, Queen Chrysalis got very upset, using her magic, she levitated the subject in front of her and said:
“What do you want? Don’t you see I’m in the middle of my Victory’s monologue?”
“I’m sorry your highness but we may have a problem”
“What is it?”
“Many of the guards we had captured were released by somepo. . . well by a creature”
“What? are you telling me one single creature is giving you so much troubles?”
“He has ripped off their heads and wings…”
“WHAT?!”

“You monster!!! Do you realize how many of my kind you killed?!”
“I lost count after 67.”
The ponies cringed at the thought. One was a giant white pony.
‘What kind of creature just kills without remorse?!’
“You will die for your insolence! I am Queen Chr…”
SHINK!
“Just shut up!”
Dark spikes were poking out of various parts of her chitin. Not fatal, but incredibly painful. She couldn’t move, and could only move her eyes in fear.
“Now get out here and back where you belong…” Then a giant hand of dark matter dragged her back to where the Changelings were from… The Badlands.
The remaining Changelings started to make some clicking and chittering noises as they fled, leaving multiple injured or any bodies behind. I then make my way to the unicorn who was still in a daze like state, as the same six ponies and dragon appeared again, but with another alicorn.
“Leave him alone beast!” the Rainbow screamed as she charged.
I only grabbed her hoof as I put her in a bubble.
“Please don’t hurt him. I raised my arm as multiple shouts fell death. I then B-slapped him as it knocked out of his stupor.
“What the… where am I… What happened here?!”
“If you’re the groom, then you made a fatal error in your bride being a bug.”
“But then that means…”
“Yeah your dumb flank didn’t see the obvious changes in her, and caused this.”
“Enough!” A new voice said.
The white alicorn descended from her gooey prison.
“At my foolishness, I accidently let the Changelings in.”
“And caused multiple counts of damage and injuries.”
“Yes but…”
“But nothing, you ponies always believes what’s best because you can do everything that others can’t. This leads to your Kingdom to be nothing but racist, dumb, and cowardly animals.”
“Now hold on! I knew they were here!”
“And did you use the Changeling counter spell?”
“The what?”
“What do you mean… Oh you dumb jackasses…”
HEEHAW!
“No offense! Just how many spells have been lost to enforce safety?”
“That magic was banned over…”
“And does that matter now?! You’re Kingdom is in ruins, even when rebuilt what will the ponies ask after you assured their safety and protection?”
“They will…”
“They won’t, it’s obvious that Friendship and Harmony can only do so much, before people start to turn to other methods. The reason your relations are so low with others is because you spend it on fruitless spending, while others suffer!”
“Hey you better not talk bad to the Princess…” An orange country mare started to say.
“Oh shut it, I’ve seen the chaos you and your friends cause daily, and those three foals that cause even more trouble than it’s worth.”
“Who are you?” The Princess asks.
“I then pull off a mask as the green flames engulf me and they prepare for another fight, but see something else… a bipedal creature, with black crown that looked like it was rusted beyond the point of what it originally looked like.
“Been a while… Hasn’t it sister?”
“Shadow?”
“Shadow?!” They all shout minus the yellow one.
