13 days before the prom
Lyra was in her bedroom looking down into her phone, who could she possibly call to help her. Lyra huffed and looked up to the roof head rested on her propped up pillow. Her face scrunched as she thought hard she needed to know how to dance before next Thursday or she and Bon Bon were screwed! She would totally embarrass the both of them. She thought she ought to make some kind of excuse now, some reason why she cant go, she could say she caught a cold or she could pretend to sprain her ankle! If she did the ankle Her and Bon Bon could still go but she wouldn't have to dance!
"Be Honest" Lyra heard "You couldn't pull a sprained ankle off.... and if you tried I would reveal your secret!"
Lyra gasped seeing Twinkleshine at her door
"I did not see you there.... and apparently I was speaking out loud" Lyra said with a frown slightly upseted her master plan will now never come to be.
"Minuette told me" Lyra whispered some insult about her being a gossip before Twinkleshine could continue "She told you you might have some worry about danceing"
"She is the one that got me shaken up! Bon Bon will be fine with my amazing dancing skills " She protested
"The lady doth protest too much"
"Shut that mouth of yours before I make you" Lyra crossed her arms and frowned at her friend
"Ok ok I will shut up I just thought you might need some help I know a guy, by the way, but if you don't need help" Twinkleshine spun on her shoes and faced out the door unknown to Lyra a grin spanked over face.
"Who you talking about?" Lyra asked, who would Twinkleshine know
"There is this one kid i use to babysit, Tender Taps and he just got back from winning first place in this dance contest" Explained Twinkleshine as she pulled out her phone "I'm sending you his number call him tomorrow and I am sure he can help you" with a small head tilt she looked at Lyra
"Thank you; I mean it" Lyra said
"If you come to the dance with a broken ankle I don't care how real you clam it to be I will push you down the stairs.... just to be sure" Lyra got up and gave her friend a hug.
She took a step back holding Twinkleshine at the shoulders "How much people did that gossip Minuette share this with I don't want this to get to Bon Bon"
"I'm sure it was just me, don't worry, she wouldn't have told me unless she knew I would be able to help! Nothing leaves the group."
"Help by sneaking into my room, I ought to put a bell on you"
"Don't you know it" was the only reply.
With that Twinkleshine left and Lyra was left with her thoughts, she definitely wouldn't become a professional dancer in 2 weeks time but she could get herself ready for prom anyhow. Bon Bon is to good for her, Bon Bon made her a better person, Bon Bon was the girl she would chose over any other to be by her side, she knew she would try to do good by Bon Bon, she would not embarrass then at the prom next Thursday!
With that she fell into a sleep of showing up to prom and forgetting her clothing, why did life torture Lyra like this
Lyra moves along the lunch line, trying to determine if she wants rubbery chicken fingers or to raid the vending machine for lunch today. Another student shuffles a few steps next to her, humming that song Sunset and her crew was singing under her breath as she plucks a plate of chicken and fries from the warmer shelf. She eyes the selections before deciding on just some salt and vinegar chips; maybe she will grab some crackers later. She was walking back to her table before seeing a poster for a student cookie walk!
"Oh no" Lyra mutters, it was on a Friday! Lyra always studded with Bon Bon on Fridays lately, she wouldn't miss that for the world! plus she really needed to pass that her finals.
Lyra sat down at the school table giving a small smile, Lyra and Bon Bon have been together 6 months or so now. It was pretty serious!
"Earth to Lyra" Minuette waved her hand in Lyra's face, Lyra not even sure when Minuette sat down gave a grunt of a greeting and struggled with her chips.
"Ohhhh your all prissy because you don't get to snog with Bon Bon all lunch today" Minuette teased
"She is doing a social study's test and the only thing making me moody is that face" Lyra tossed back and gave a light shove to Minuette's side, they both gave a giggle, clearly having fun at each other's expense.
"So... you going to bring Bon Bon to the prom? or you have other plans together? Minuette asked,
"Why wouldn't I?
Minuette just giggled
"What?" Lyra asked confused
"You can't even dance do you not remember gym!?" Minuette asked louder than needed but lucky for her (or see her the wrath of Lyra) everyone was much to into their own conversation's
"Oh god," she spoke into her hands remembering that embarrassment, she is soo glad she did not share gym class with Bon Bon. She swore she could still feel phantom pain in her ankle. Lyra pulled her head up and looked Minuette in the eyes.
She would not care, No she won't care...right?"
All Minuette did was a shrug.
The bell gave a long ring and all Lyra could think was saved from this conversation by the bell. Her Bio teacher was pretty relaxed if she wanted she could grab some crackers and not be marked late for class. Looking into her reflection in the glass of the vending unit she made a promise.
She refuses to embarrass Bon Bon like that, she needs to become a better dancer, stat!
On a side note, the crackers were stale and a Sub teacher was in and marked her late for class...
